I had Hackney install a complete hvac system and insulation in my home in 2018, everything went great, Drew was there through the entire process. No complaints. Last month my heater would not turn on so I called the company that I've used for my PM service and they informed me that their was an issue with the installation of the unit that was causing the problem and it would cost$$. At this point I called the warranty company and it was suggested that I try Hackney first, but if not any reputable company would be fine. So that's what I did. And the screenshots are the response from Dallas Cox. So what Dallas is saying is even though I spent almost 20k for a system I'm no longer welcome because I chose to use a local a company that's 10 minutes from my home instead of Hackney for PM. What really upsets me is Hackney doesn't have the decency to call to see what my issue really was. With a loud POP! the air conditioning compressor in our aging HVAC system developed a leak. Having just replaced the fan motor, the last thing we wanted was to replace the whole HVAC. We had a very unique problem in the condo we purchased. The air conditioning fan would go off on it's own in the middle of the night and other various times. I can't say enough good things about Hackney. They installed our air conditioning and a new furnace in our 70 year old home about 5 years ago. They were efficient, professional and reliable. Since then we have had them service our system every year. This last weekend our furnace stopped working. I sent a message on a Sunday and at 7:00 am on Monday they called to,say they would be at the house at 8:00 am. They were! It was a pressure switch and they had fixed it in 10 minutes. We finally decided to get central ac and heating for our home after years of sweltering summertime heat and freezing winters. Being the type that likes to do my homework, I researched extensively before I consulted with any contractors for bids. Ultimately, after gathering as much info as I could, I contacted five different companies to come out and evaluate my needs and give me their best proposals. It was important that we interviewed as many contractors as possible to ensure we got the best options, pricing & felt absolutely comfortable with the company we chose. Drew, the company owner came out and was extremely professional and knowledgeable. After meeting with a few other companies, I could tell Drew knew exactly what he was talking about and wasn't trying to upsell me on anything I really didn't want or need. He got straight to it and went through both my attics and did a perimeter check. He also mentioned that he was a licensed realtor and ran the specs of my house to understand more about what he was dealing with in terms of sizing, age and layout. After his evaluation we had a quick pow wow where he broke down what he thought would be the best and most efficient way to add central ac and heating. We did a walk through of my house and he showed me exactly where everything would go and how the system would function. After all proposals were submitted and closely analyzed, it actually was an easy decision for us to make. I'm not knocking any of the other companies that came out as they all did an excellent job in selling us on their service and products. But after meeting with Drew, we just kind of knew he was our guy. Drew offered us the best package as he was the most knowledgeable, personable and gave us the best pricing options. We scheduled an installation appointment the following week and couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Drew's team was extremely professional and very respectful of our property. They showed up at exactly 8am every morning and the first thing they did was lay out tarps to cover all our floors before doing any work. At the end of each day, they cleaned and vacuumed all the dust and debris lying around. The only negative I had is when one of the installers were carrying in some of the equipment and accidentally bumped into my front gate and dislodged the hinge. Made an appointment for a simple check-up, air filter replacement. First day and time went by with no tech and no call. I rang late afternoon, they apologized and said they would call the next morning to arrange a time. Next morning came and went, I received a call at noon telling me the tech was running behind schedule and would not make the 1-3pm window (a window that had actually never been communicated to me). They rescheduled for 3:30-4:30. At 3pm they called and said tech was not going to make it and could I reschedule for next week. Needless to say, we didnt. Plus, the customer service team that answers is the phones are extremely nice & professional. Disappointing because we had them out last yr and thought they were great. read more

I've read all the reviews of Hackney and see that they are mixed but, my experiences were only good. My central air/heating unit died on the hottest day of the summer and Drew was there within a day of my calling. The company was busy as could be but, he managed to get the equipment, the crane to lift the outside unit over the house and the crew to do the installation over to my house within a few days. He did what he said he would do and at the price quoted. It's a tough business when the temp is 110+ outside and fielding all of the phone calls, service calls and installations during SoCal heat waves can't be easy. In spite of those challenges, Hackney did a fine job and, a couple of months on, everything is working just fine. I have every confidence that Drew and Hackney will be there when and if I need them to provide service in the future. read more

I called last year before the year was up to change the filter and just check the system, 2 weeks out to get the appointment, just called today, the service fee went up and it's over a week to get another appointment, best to look elsewhere. read more

Richard H. review was spot on, should headed this before I wasted my time. Beware - Hackney are flaking and disrespectful. I called to schedule an appointment, had to wait over 2 weeks, but figured OK as its summer and they had been recommended by a contractor I work with. Day of the first appointment get a call in the morning saying they can't make it and to call back to reschedule. I can accept that, call back and set up appointment for a few days later between 11-1pm. At 12 get a voice mail from Drew saying he is on the way, should be there by 12:30, no need to call back unless there is a problem. I get busy with work and realize hours later they guy never showed up, so I call him back. He acts real confused and says he's driving and will call me right back. Never hear back, I call back an hour later and leave a voice mail. Never hear back, try again the next day, he doesn't pick up, but when I call the office they get a hold of him and he straight out lies and says I was suppose to call him back to confirm - I even went back and listened to his message to make sure I hear right, it clearly said only call if there is a problem. Very bad customer service, would not trust them to do the work I need. It's a shame as I am an architect and all was looking for good subs, but I would look elsewhere. read more

They were able to get a technician, Drew, here within 30 minutes on the coldest day of the year in Santa Monica to fix my broken thermostat. He worked quickly to replace it, offering me options at different prices and checking with me before proceeding. He even looked at my fireplace and diagnosed a gas leak for me, which letting me know exactly what needed to be fixed. Reasonably priced and worth every penny.
