Food: 4.25 Experience: 5++ What an experience! So many memories made at Haidilao. After seeing many Tiktoks from HDL, I was very excited to go here for my birthday. It was everything and more. Highlights from the experience: - There was an elaborate performance from a talented dancer who switched between tens of masks and threw us trinkets at the end. - We paid $4 for the noodle dance to the tune of Justin Bieber's "Baby". Absolutely worth the show; the nicely chewy noodles at the end are just a bonus! On the menu it says it's delayed because they usually do the noodle dance right when you order it and people often aren't ready. - Festive lights and music, delicious cheesecake, and cute reindeer socks for my birthday. - Mango soft serve is very light and refreshing. Mints are delicious. Highlights from the food: - The meats were really good. My favorite was probably the kurobuta pork -- very tender and melt in your mouth. The short rib and beef brisket were also delicious. You can't go wrong! All very tender, marbled, and yummy. - Sauce bar had everything you could want. Notes on the food - The broths are a bit watered down compared to places like Happy Lamb. The spicy pork bone tastes a bit like a spicy bean paste soup. The laksa was quite good, and the spicy was good as well. The pork bone broth was pretty bland. - The shrimp paste was good but not as fluffy as I would like. The fish fillet was pretty good. - The sampler platters for mushrooms, veggies, and tofu have a good selection if you don't know what you want. We entered the waitlist online while we were in the area so we didn't have to wait much in person, but letting them know we were there was a bit chaotic. Overall the broth is lacking in flavor but the experience is definitely worth a visit. Everyone had a great time. The total came to $150 before tax and tip for 3 people. The most insane hotpot I've ever been to. I imagine this is how hot pot restaurants in the East function. It was all technology-based, with robots even bringing you your meat and sides. There were a lot of options for the dipping sauce, and the price was pretty cheap but the quality of meat was incredible. The bathrooms -- insane?? They have dysons, toothbrushes and toothpaste, basically anything you could need to refresh between courses. Can't wait to go back. read more

This is probably the best hotpot I've had in the city. When you grow up with 99 favor taste and AYCE hot pot, it's hard to imagine gourmet and hot pot in the same sentence. After hearing all the hype around Haidilao and giving it a try, Haidilao is definitely worth the hype. When going to the Flushing location for the first time, the restaurant isn't easy to find. You need to walk down what looks like the entrance to a parking lot to access the back door of the building. When you enter you have to either take an elevator or the stairs to the second floor. If you can't find it, just follow the groups of people. When you first walk in, there is a plethora of amenities including but not limited to a cotton candy machine, chinese chess, free beverages, etc. All the amenities make waiting for a table enjoyable. The amenities and luxuries don't stop there and include the fancy bathrooms, a loaded sauce bar, free ice cream and herbal jelly. The amenities are paralleled by the amazing service. By the time you're seated, you're prompted to order the soup base and the food on an ipad. The servers are friendly and efficient and walk you through the menu. I would recommend getting the four different soup bases to try out different soup bases. We couldn't choose any favorites because all the soup bases/food were delicious and you can't go wrong with ordering anything. The meat is high quality, the vegetables are fresh, and the free desserts are tasty. Thankfully, our server dissuaded us from order additional noodles as she realized we ordered a bit too much for two people (oops!). Wow, this place doesn't disappoint! I love hot post and have been to so many hotpot restaurants in the past but this one is bar far the best of all in terms of food quality, service and overall experience. If you are coming here with group of 7 or more, I would highly recommend to make reservation of private room in advance as it will elevate your whole experience to another level. I've been wanting to try Haidilao for a long time and finally got the chance. We got some classic hot pot favorites and some new items. The broths were very flavorful. The shrimp paste was very good as it did not taste floury like other places I've been to. The dancing noodles were a fun experience and were nice and chewy. Everything tasted fresh and was presented nicely. Our server, Yuna, provided good service and never made us feel rushed. We were also given aprons and bags for our clothes to keep our belongings tidy and not smelly. The bathroom also had great commodities. This place is absolutely insane - but in a good way lol. My one gripe is that you can't make reservations and you have to enter the queue in person with your party. It's minimally a 30 minute wait. So if you're looking to eat at 8 PM - get there at 7:30 PM. They also lost my groups online ticket so that was an additional 15 minute wait. But even given this hiccup - they try to make up for it by giving the waiting area boardgames and free water/juice while they wait which is a nice touch. When we did finally sit down they move quite quickly! They have an iPad to put your order in so folks can bring it out. Got 4 soups for the table (can get 2) and got a classic spicy soup, tomato, pickled cabbage fish base, and a pork bone broth soup. All the soups are fantastic! Ordered a poop ton of veggies and meats/ fish (so much so the table couldn't even finish it). We also ended up getting a watermelon juice jug for the table which was freaking awesome. Clearly freshly processed from real watermelon. Their bathrooms are freaking amazing, seeing the robots delivering food and having a random mask show going on - not only was it a delight to the taste buds for the other senses as well! Tasty and fresh ingredients. Unlike other hot pot places, Haidilao's noodles and meat don't feel like they were frozen and recently quickly thawed. It's quite a cozy and home-y type place. There's a waiting and reception area with tea and small snacks you can help yourself to. This is not an all-you-can-eat establishment! I don't remember where, but I read somewhere it was AYCE. Our total bill ended up being around $125 after tax and tip. There's no reservations but you can do a call-ahead. We called around noon on a Friday to get seats for 2 people at 7:30pm that evening. We had trouble finding the place as we saw the sign in the front of the building facing the street. The entrance is in the back! We kept walking back and forth in front of the building looking for a magical secret entrance but it turns out we just had to walk around lol. They gave us aprons (reusable, so good to know they're not continuously wasting plastic) and our server even gave me a hair tie without me asking for it! I thought that was neat attention to detail. Their sauce bar has a lot of different ingredients. You can choose to have 1, 2, or 4 different broths. The spicy tallow beef is always my go-to. We also tried out the spicy pork, which was good as well. I did like the wagyu beef but I don't think I would get it again at its price; it's not worth the premium when compared to the regular brisket. Besides, I personally like wagyu as a steak moreso than something to drown in broth. The hand pulled noodles were a great treat! Dinner and a show basically. We ordered it twice actually, but it took too long to come out the second time (we waited 20+ minutes from order time), so we ended up canceling it. I believe it was under the "favorites" section rather than under the "noodles" section of the menu. The ordering system is similar to a place in northern Virginia near DC (which is where I'm from) called Urban Hot Pot, where you just order on an iPad without having to even talk to anyone. Came here for an early dinner on a Sunday afternoon and a decent amount of tables were still occupied despite it being an off-time. Nonetheless, we were seated and serviced quickly - their ordering process was pretty smooth with the tablet and food came out in mere minutes. Really fast and easy process! The sauce station had everything we needed as well as other little side dishes and fruit - definitely well stocked and nice to have! The food quality was very good, the ingredients were obviously super fresh and tasted fantastic. We didn't come super hungry so we ordered enough to be satisfied and were more than content with two meats, a few veggies, and some noodles. The hand-pulled noodles we ordered unfortunately didn't come out with the rest of our things though and we had to remind the staff about it. Additionally, our server left the restaurant at some point to step outside (we saw him return with a jacket like half an hour later) and we had trouble flagging down another staff member to help us. The ice cream at the end can only be served by a waiter it seems so we had to wait quite a long time to get it. I thought the pork bone was quite bland but you can always adjust with their infamous sauce bar. The beef tallow was super flavorful and a good amount of spice. Very expensive but so many combinations and Haidilao hacks turn out to be delightful surprises! The broths were good, we got spicy pork bone, tomato, tom yum, mushroom. The spicy pork bone broth wasn't spicy at all though. The meat was high quality - fatty, juicy, rich - albeit expensive for the portion that you get. So if you find joy shoving large quantities of hotpot meat into your mouth like me, you may be a little disappointed. It seems like the premium beef brisket gives a large portion of good quality meat for a cheap price though, so will order more of that next time. The short rib is particularly delicious with good marbling and flavor though. They have so many incredible side items too. Salted egg yolk shrimp paste, wrapped shrimp paste, quail eggs, cheese-filled rice cakes. And the Haidilao hack of putting meat coated with peanuts, sesame, chili flakes, and sugar inside their golden bun is truly amazing - sweet, spicy, nutty, umami. The noodle is also wonderful, comes with a show and the texture of the noodle is perfect, love the chew! This is my first time trying Haidilao in the U.S.! I had previously only tried it one other time in Taiwan. We got the special which comes with a choice of broth, a plate of meat, and a plate of veggies per person. I got the pork bone soup broth, which I think is always a safe go-to option for me. My friend got the spicy broth and said the broth was a bit too spicy, but luckily, there are 2 slots of just hot water next to both of our broths. My friend ended up dipping some of his food into the hot water after a quick dip in the spicy broth, so that it wouldn't be as spicy. They also have unlimited chicken nuggets, fruits, snacks etc that you can get yourself! I didn't get to try the chicken nuggets but my friend said they were really good and tasted like McDonald's chicken nuggets. The servers were so kind. Entrance: is on the mezzanine plaza on the side near one of the parking entrance. If you can't find parking in Flushing, there is a parking lot underneath the building though not affiliated with the restaurant. It's reasonably priced for Flushing. While you wait, there are drinks (tea) and small snacks. Since it was lunchtime, the amenities were not open plus there was no line. Reservations are highly recommended since it can get crowded Seating: we were a party of 4 so we were offered a booth. They offer a plastic bag for your mask to place in your bag. Sauce Table The sauces and items were right behind us which was convenient. There were cold appetizers and a cold soup available. Ordering You order from a screen at the table: Keep in mind, this is not all you can eat. Price is a la carte (I had to take a picture [not included] of the long bill list). Broth: we each picked a broth Spicy, Mushroom (best of all of them), Bone Broth, Tomato (we liked this originally but after a while it was just ok). Meat/Seafood Various types of meats/seafood which we ordered mostly. We had a set of long chopsticks to put the uncooked items into the broth and another set to remove the cooked items. Escorted to seat at around 7:30pm. There are beverages and some snacks in the lobby to take. The waiting area is spacious but it gets filled up really fast. Place is very nice and clean. All staffs are polite. The order is made via their tablet. You can certainly ask for waiter for more information. You can choose 1-4 soup base. We chose spicy, pig bone marrow, tomato and mushroom. Spicy is really spicy. Beware. I really loved pig bone and tomato soup. All meats were very fresh and well cut for hot pot. Not too thick. Portion looks small but it's a good amount. All veggies are very clean. Im very impressed by their cleaniess. I have been to other hotpot places. Haidilao is definitely best at keeping their ingredients fresh and clean. After hearing all the hype about Haidilao, I finally tried it for the first time for a friend's birthday. I don't often eat hotpot at restaurants as my family typically only eats it at home but the wide variety that Haidilao provides can't be copied at home. We were a fairly large party of 9 but were able to comfortably fit into a booth table plus two seats on the outside. Our reservation was for 6 pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was packed (it was larger inside than I had expected). If you're looking to eat with a large group, it's a great option but make sure to book a reservation ahead of time and they only seat you once your whole party has arrived. In the waiting area there are snacks and drinks to have while you wait for your whole party. You order off a tablet, which can be inconvenient when there's only one tablet and 9 people. It would be nice if everyone could at least get a menu to look at and put in their orders to the person with the tablet. The staff also provides everyone with aprons while eating as well as thick hair ties for anyone with long hair. Everything is rather pricy so I definitely recommend coming with a group to try more items. My group wanted to try four soup bases but found that each additional soup base costed so we ended up opting for just the tomato base and bone broth base. I was pleasantly surprised to see some actual bones in the bone broth (fun for chewing on later & extracting the bone marrow). We ordered a variety of meats like pork, beef, and lamb as well as an assortment of fish balls, tofu skins, tripe, lotus root, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, veggies like corn and pea shoots (doumiao) and more. A unique item that my table really enjoyed was the salted egg yolk fish ball, very tasty. It's a bit chaotic having hotpot with 9 people but the food was good and well enjoyed. There's a sauce station with recommendations from Haidilao but you are free to make any sauce you want. I was surprised to not see XO sauce (maybe I'm blind) and normal soy sauce (they had a seafood soy sauce?). But they have other staples like shacha sauce, peanut sauce, sesame sauce, etc. Along with the sauce station there's also a small selection of fruit, sweet popcorn (that tbh tasted stale), colorful shrimp chips (that my table loved haha), and some wrapped Chinese hard candies that might have been brown sugar coated plum flavored. The service was pretty efficient, with someone frequently refilling our lemon infused waters and whisking away finished plates. We did order the famous dancing noodle service & our entire meal (that lasted about 1.5 hrs), the tablet kept saying the noodle service was delayed. To be fair we did see the noodle guy dancing around several tables so he was boooooked. When we were finished with our meal we mentioned to an employee that the dancing noodle guy never came but shortly after he did come to visit. The noodles itself are also tasty and chewy but sadly you get maybe like 4 strands of noodles. If anyone knows of a way to order more noodles sans the dancing noodle guy please let me know because the noodles are great. At the end of the meal we also had the option to receive vanilla or strawberry soft serve, which was a nice way to end the meal. Someone mentioned to a server that it was my friend's birthday (he had put a note in the reservation but it seems like they didn't see it) and the staff brought over a RBG boom box that blasted music with a big sign that said happy birthday! They gave my friend a plate of fruit with a cupcake and lighted candle in the center and then gifted my friend a bag, which revealed a rubber squeaking duck. It's a pretty funny and unique gift to get from a restaurant haha. Did I mention that the toilet paper they use in the bathrooms is super plush? You know a restaurant is quality when the toilet paper is super comfy. Not only that, but I believe there's also mouthwash and toothbrushes in the bathrooms. This is one of those classic spots that every Chinese person knows about. While it's super busy, reservations can be made, but if you're there early or are waiting, they have a little reception area with drinks, snacks, and seating. There's even a little cotton candy machine, although I didn't use it. The restaurant itself is quite large, with multiple sauce and snack stations. We got the 4 soup split hotpot, and I'd definitely recommend the tomato soup and the spicy Mala, the latter especially if you have great spice tolerance. There's a ton of variety on meat, veggies, and seafood options, and they give you little bibs to keep your clothes clean! You can order the noodles to get a noodle dance, and the food comes delivered on these little robots, which are fun and unique here. Beyond the food, they have really tasty drinks, and fun desserts like Ube soft serve and White Rabbit candy! We had a reservation for Haidilao because we knew it would be super busy. The server seated us as soon as they checked us in. The server explained about the tablet used to order whether you prefer one, two or four separate broths to use. Also you get an apron so you don't get sauces on your clothes, eyeglasses lens wipe and a ziplock bag for your mask. You can create a membership account to use if you plan on dining at Haidilao for loyalty rewards. The sauce bar was extra asf as well, probably every sauce combination available, as well as veggie straws, snacks, and fruit. They were very fast at moving groups in and out and we were through in no time. We got the mushroom base and the tomato base, beef tripe, kobe beef belly, NZ lamb shoulder, AUS lamb shoulder, premium fatty beef, enoki mushroom, potato, chrysanthemum, and cabbage. You also have the option of getting 4 soup bases, but IMO 2 is enough. Tomato base was probably my favorite, had a lot of umami, a bit of sweetness, and gave the meat and veg a lot of depth of flavor. The Kobe beef was to die for. Probably the best beef I've eaten for hot pot, excellently marbled thinly sliced meat, super tender and decadent. The lamb was also equally amazing and didn't have any gaminess at all. Overrated - was really hoping to give 5 stars, but food quality really wasn't that great. Let's start with the broth. Me and my girlfriend got the dual hotpot. Mala beef tallow was great in flavor and taste. The regular bone broth isn't anything crazy - decent taste but really was hoping for my flavor. We ordered all of the beef options and Colorado Lamb. The Wagyu options was tasty and rich in flavor. HOWEVER, I do have an upset stomach the next day, which means that quality is not up to par with price. Total we spent $200. I believe that a $200 meal should mean sanitary food. Service was great. Dancing noodle guy did a great job especially for the camera. Ambiance could be better, but typical for any Haidilao. Overall a mediocre experience. Would prefer Happy Lamb or cheaper options as food quality does not justify price. Even The Dolar Shop would be a better alternative Fish roe balls are 10/10 must try though. My favorite food item all night. read more

This place is my favorite hot pot place. My husband and I have been to Haidilao in Seattle but this one is even better. The service is always fantastic and the food is delicious. I love that they will make sauces for you to pair with some of the soups. The place is really well taken care of and the bathrooms find all the hygiene products that you could possibly need. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone that is coming to NY or lives NY. read more
