You basically build your own hotpot and it's all by weight. There was a lot of options for meats, veggies, and noodles. They even have buldak noodles and fried options as well. There was coke products and other drinks. The build your own sauce station was really small, but they had everything I like so I was happy which was garlic, soy sauce, chili garlic oil, seasame sauce, scallions, cilantro, and seasame oil. This is a really tiny malatang spot with very limited seating with only a counter seating along the wall on one side, so it's really meant to be for take out. However, they do let you dine in the adjacent restaurant if you're there before 6PM. You get to pick your own ingredients from over 120 choices including veggies, meat, and seafood. It's about $20 per pound. They also sell skewers and other small snacks. They have multiple soup base as well as dry pot option. I came here for the first time today and really enjoyed the fact I could customize my dish. I came here with a friend who likes 火锅but I personally prefer 麻辣香锅 so this was the best of both worlds. Like most 麻辣香锅 places, you pick your veggies and meats and the price is determined based on weight. I got a few bits of Napa cabbage, bean sprouts, potato, lotus root, seaweed strips, wood ear mushroom, enoki mushroom, fish tofu, sliced beef, and spam. I didn't see the weight but it came to around $15-16, which isn't too bad considering it also comes with rice. As someone with a low spice tolerance, I did ask if it was possible to adjust the spice level but they said they couldn't. However, I didn't find it to be that spicy. It was actually more on the saltier side, which makes it a great pairing with rice. My friend's 火锅 was also really good, especially the broth. I might consider getting that the next time I'm there and it's a raining day because I tend to crave noodles and soup on rainy days. I should also mention that at a first glance, the place seems like a hole in the wall, but they actually share a space with the restaurant next door and will bring your food to your table. They give you a number on a bracelet after you pay and you bring it next door so they know you've already ordered and paid and then bring your food to your table. read more
