I was looking to replace my Sanitas clogs for work and wanted to purchase from a knowledgeable retailer. I called Haig's shoes since I would be in the Detroit area for an event. From the initial call, Ken and his team looked in their inventory to confirm the stock of my requested shoe size and colors to ensure there were multiple items to try on. When I made the trip to the store, Ken was welcoming, knowledgeable about the Sanitas, and all of the shoes they carry as well as the accessories. I purchased some compression socks for flights, and he showed my friend and I an easy way to put them on for our flights. Overall we had a great visit and highly recommend Ken and his team if you are looking for a store with great customer service and selection. I have very small feet and suffer from plantar fasciitis. I needed a pair of dress shoes that I could stand in comfortably for several hours that same evening. Ken immediately suggested the perfect pair. He even suggested that I use my existing insoles rather than trying to sell me another brand. I had the most comfortable Easter vigil mass in years because my feet never hurt. I wore the same shoes the following morning and still have them on hours later. If there was a higher rating that 5 Stars Steve would have it. I came from California to visit my 91 year old mom and she has had trouble finding shoe that fit correctly her entire life. She likes the SAS brand so I took her in and Steve waited on us. She was not very easy to get along with, but Steve took about an hour running like a wild man with the other customers in the store and finally found her the perfect combination. There is no possibility that you could find better customer service anywhere. I own a retail store and in today's world it's all about customer service and Haig Shoes should be your first stop. Next time I visit I will be going in to get a pair or two to take home. read more

Today went to pick up SAS shoes on order (size was off) it happens... and I was about to have the rude owner order another pair until he uttered from his mouth--"if you had payed attention to what I just told you" !!! I also witnessed him telling an approximately mid 80-ish year old lady that he "has other customers" when she asked about something... He's a real peice of work-- I had him give me my deposit back and will take my money to *The Shoe Store* on Highland Rd. in Waterford--they also sell SAS shoes. read more

These guys know their shoes. The guy that waited on me really was insightful and I appreciated his knowledge. While it wasn't the largest store, they stock a huge selection of great quality shoes. I also didn't have to search for someone to help me for 5 minutes. I am super happy with my purchase and definitely will be back. I've had the pleasure of doing business with this family-owned shoe store for over 40 years. They carefully select their brands and they still provide a service that is rare. I am very hard to fit and have a wide foot. Each time I was treated with care, respect and given recommendations that were still stylish but the best fit. I was going to reorder a sturdy replacement pair of shoes for my mom from SAS online. I saw the local Haig Shoes in Rochester Hills had them and liked the idea of supporting local businesses at this time. I also could not see the size in my moms old pair so I called to see if they did curbside pickup. Due to Covid-19, we try to socially distant but I decided to take my mom in the car in case I needed her try them on. The salesman was superb going 100% above and beyond. He even brought a rug out so my mom could walk in them outside. I have never had a bad experience at Haig Shoes shopping for myself but I was so grateful for the service today. Do not ever shop at this store. Wanted to buy a pair of shoes and get fitted. Then make a decision. Was told I had to pay a fee to be fitted. Unbelievable! Went to a shoe store a few doors down (Moose Jaw) and that store couldn't have been more helpful. They measured (for free), we ordered, free shipping on the order and even gave points to shop another time. Actually spent more than I had planned. read more

I went in here not expecting much. My grandparents knew this store for their excellent reputation and we decided to stop in for some shoe shopping. I've been searching for a waterproof, reasonably stylish boot for a long time. I didn't really have high hopes (they don't have the biggest selection), but we told the sales person what we were looking for and he presented a few options (two acceptable options in my eyes). I was really surprised about how knowledeable he was about the different types of shoes and how he was able to present options that met the criteria I layed out. He also challenged some items with his conventional shoe knowledge - like I didn't want the boot to have too warm of a lining if I was going to wear them in the office and do a lot of walking. For the boot I ultimately selected (Ecco tall walking boot), they had my size in stock and they felt/looked great. There was a blemish on one of them, so they ordered them and they came in within a week. Excellent customer service during this process as well. Now to socks -- I was going hiking and was looking for some socks and since we happened to be here, I started browsing their wall of socks (a pretty large selection, actually). The salesperson was selling Thirlo's like he gets a kickback -- aparentally, they're pioneers of the upscale sock; the first to wave so many threads together. (Yes, I got a history lesson and now you get it too.) I got two pairs of medium padding silk/wool blend hiking socks that felt great when I tried them on in the store. Unfortunately, they just retain too much water and don't dry quick enough on the trail. They aren't bad for a casual sock, but it seems like Smartwool is the winner here too (if you get the light padding). Stick with Smartwool here and probably for actual hiking gear, stick to REI or similar outdoor stores for recommendations (there's a Moosejaw in the same mall). read more

The service was amazing. I was surprised as I went in there on a whim. I am on my feet at work a minimum of 8-10 hrs a day, and I tried 4 other shoe stores closer to home to no avail. When I went into Haig's they asked me exactly what I wanted and how I was going to use them, the salesman also measured my foot and went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable with my selection. He ordered them in, and a few days later I picked them up. Nearly a month later my feet still feel great and the shoes are awesome. Thank you Haig's Shoes!!! read more

My wife and I dropped by Haig's with intent to purchase a comfy and durable pair of Keens for her. An employee greeted and directed us to the store's Keen shoe selection and offered to answer any shoe related questions. We browsed at the selection and asked questions about comfort, sizing and durability. Our questions, especially my wife's, were followed up with impolite answers that implied: "I know what you want and you are going to like it, don't waste my time, don't ask questions that challenge my expert knowledge, your IQ should be prescreened before talking to me and entering this store and (my personal favorite) just make a selection, purchase, leave and come back for a new pair." I'm a little old school, but if you can't treat customers, especially my wife, with a gracious measure of dignity and respect, then your store doesn't deserve her business or mine. And with that, we walked out and found my wife comfy and durable shoes elsewhere...goodbye and see you never! read more

I was able to get a lot of help at this store. I have had a great deal of trouble getting a certain type of shoe to fit my foot. The salesperson took great care explaining to me why I was having so much trouble and even tried to make a few adjustments for me without claiming to have the magic solution to my problem. He was patient and got me other colors and widths in various styles so that I could compare. I ended up purchasing a different style than I had planned, and I love them! Thanks to this salesperson, I have a much better understanding of how certain shoes will fit my feet and what it would take to really get the kind I had wanted. read more

My husband needed shoes and he takes a size 8. The salesperson told us that they are not stocking size 8 shoes anymore, and neither are many retailers. We would be required to call back on Monday and put an order in for a size 8, wait for it to come in, then try it on to see if it even fits. We left Haigs and went to Twelve Oaks Mall and purchased 3 pair of high-end shoes in size 8 at Ecco. Great selections and plenty of size 7's, 7 1/2's and 8's. We will spend our money at 12 Oaks from now on. read more

Had a very nice visit helpful with buying my shoes. I did as was told to wear the shoes at home on carpet to see if they helped my problem, but after 30 minutes they made my feet feel bruised so as my receipt stated if not happy bring them back for full refund. The man behind counter snatched the bag away from me catching my hand with his nail, he was very snippy and I got my refund but was made to feel very uncomfortable so not sure I will be going to buy shoes from there ever again. read more

The service was terrible! I went in looking for Birkenstocks, I was sized and then informed they didn't have the shoe I wanted in stock. They said they could order it, but it would take 10 days. I was told they would have to pay a fee to get it sooner. When I tried to see what size it was, I was told I would have to pay $15 in order to see the size. Seriously? Unfortunate waste of time. I told the propeterior exactly the troubles I had with my feet and what style of shoe I sought. After measuring he brought me shoes that were unlike anything I am able to wear and suggested going several sizes too large to accommodate my width. I would give 0 stars if it would let me. The customer service was kind of rude while I was purchasing shoes for how much I was spending. Further more at their suggestion I wore the shoes on carpet in my home for a few minutes to see if they were comfortable. When I tried to return them they claimed I wore them outside! But they told me to go home and try them - I would never wear shoes outside first. And they were rude about it. I'm out the $150. Way better customer service at big box stores which is sad. read more

Looking for Birkenstocks and not wanting to drive to Ann Arbor, I found this place near my house. They had a nice selection and I can't even remember the last time I had my foot measured, which the fella did. He was nice and brought me out a few choices and sizes. I found the pair I was looking for and he thoroughly went through how to care for them to ensure I would have them for the next 10 years. Great store, would definitely come back. read more
