Ken was my stylist when I visited on February 28th. I requested that I have only one inch taken off my hair and that layers be added. Although I have naturally curly hair, I typically wear it straight. After Ken shampooed and conditioned my hair, he confirmed my requests, and I reaffirmed them. During the haircut, my hair was in my face, making it difficult to see what he was doing. I just trusted that he would carry out my requests properly. However, after he finished, I immediately realized my hair was much shorter than I had requested. It wasn't until I straightened my hair two days later that the full extent of the problem became apparent: Ken completely failed to cut my hair in layers and removed far too much length. The haircut was uneven, with my right side significantly shorter than my left, which was extremely noticeable. Initially, I called the salon to request a different stylist to fix my hair, but I decided against it because I didn't want to lose any more length. Instead, I went in person to address the issue with the assistant manager, Russel. He claimed it was beyond his control to process a refund and that I would need to wait for the manager to come in. When I called back, he told me that the manager wanted me to come in to fix my hair, even after I explained that I didn't want anyone else cutting my hair and that I had lost trust in their ability to do so. Russel stated that I would have to wait for my refund until the manager returned, as she was out sick with COVID. In the end, it took my husband insisting on the refund for Russel to process it immediately. This clearly demonstrated that we didn't need the manager's involvement after all. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against using Ken as a stylist if you were to continue your decision to come to this location. read more

As you can see from the 5-star review I left in August 2020, I followed Vinh from the Hair Cuttery across town to this one after the old one closed due to the pandemic, because he always - ALWAYS - gives me a great cut. Unlike any other stylist I've had, it consistently grows out perfectly. In addition, he's one of the kindest, nicest guys you'll meet; has always taken great care to accommodate me as a customer; and does all manner of extra, little things when he has the time that keep me as a solid return-customer. I don't want anyone else touching my hair, because it's very thick, and no one has been able to manage it as he does. So why is this a 1-star review? I heard on good authority that Vinh was FIRED by a new store manager and can think of no possible way he could have brought that on himself. If he isn't rehired, that will be the last time I ever set foot in ANY Hair Cuttery again. read more

Newish location pretty close to the old East Market location. This one is very close to the Giant. This location is very clean and spacious. Service is good. Can schedule in advance via their website or the Hair Cuttery app. Prices are good and they get you in and out of there pretty quick on weekdays. Weekends can be a little crazy with kids however. read more

My husband goes to Vinh solely at this hair cuttery and consistently comes back home with an amazing haircut. He's been going to him for over 2 years now. We just learned that Vinh was unjustly fired by new management for no apparent reason and are devastated to hear this. I normally don't leave reviews, but I wanted to express my negative experience here. I had a protein treatment a few weeks ago, and my hair did not appear any better after the treatment. On top of that, I began experiencing severe hair loss. When I went to meet with the manager, she refused, and she stated that itching and hair loss are usual after the process. Instead of apologizing, she attempted to prove me incorrect and became disrespectful in front of other customers. I left the salon with the remorse of wasting my money ($179) and my time, and now I'm dealing with significant hair loss. read more

I often had people ask me who cut my hair. So why am I leaving? My understanding is that the new manager unjustly fired Vinh. I can't imagine that he could ever do anything to justify being fired. I went here just to get my hair cut shorter before the beach and I needed it cheap. The stylist I had was doing my hair as fast as she possibly could and once I got home I noticed there are a lot of uneven parts that look really choppy. The stylist very obviously didn't want to be there which I get it, I hate work too, but I paid for a service and I expect it to at least be even. Took my daughter here today, haircut was fine, but it's worth noting that the lady at the front desk was loud and rude. She yelled at the mailman telling him he needs to do things the "Haircuttery Way" she just really made a scene for no reason, he was completely docile and seemed confused at her annoyance. She cut my layers in my hair but never checked them against each other, so when I got home I realized the right side was over an inch shorter than the left side and my mom and I had to re cut the layers ourselves (note: these were short layers in front of my face so very noticeable). 0 out of 5 stars if possible. My service was for a shampoo and blow out. The stylist was so violent ripping multiple brushes at one time through my hair. So painful! Most stylists use clips to hold hair up in sections, but this time 5 brushes were rolled up in my hair at one time. First let me say that I have had many acceptable experiences over the years here... kids cuts and such. They have simple hair. And my mom (who is disabled and very difficult) loves Lindsay. But we have officially reached the point where we will not be back. Last time my mom was there Lindsay wasn't available so she went to someone else... who died her hair instead of putting a rinse on it. Since my mom can't drive or get out to get her hair re-done on a regular basis, this created an issue where she had 3 inch roots before she could do anything about it. But yesterday was the kicker! I took my 15 yo daughter for a quick trim. Her favorite stylist was not available but she just needed a haircut. A minute after getting into the chair my daughter came and said, "She said my hair is ugly and I need a deep conditioning treatment." I laughed and said, "Well that's a bit harsh, but your hair is a mess. It needs to be washed, cut and dried. Tell her no thank you." A few minutes later, after her hair was washed and she was back in the chair, she texted me. "She keeps telling me my hair is ugly. DO NOT TIP THIS LADY." I flew out of that chair, and said to the stylist, "I'm sorry you find my daughter's hair so distasteful." and then I announced to the stylist who were sitting around, "Does anyone else want to take over or should we go elsewhere? This lady is not finishing my daughter's haircut." So someone else did take over. Later I found out the lady kept telling my daughter she had to buy all these products and when my daughter said "I can't afford them here, but if you tell me what I need maybe I can buy them online." the stylist (whose name I do not have or I would share it with you) kept getting more frustrated with her. Essentially the lady was trying to bully my daughter into paying for additional treatments, and hair products. And another lady that worked there came and apologized (and at first I appreciated the attempt) but then she offered me a $5 coupon for "next time" (it's only good M-W). At first I said "I will be passing this on, I'm not sure I'll be back." and then I thought for a moment and said "No, I can't recommend anyone come here. Besides this is kind of insulting so you can keep it." Anyway - we left with her hair wet because for some reason they choose not to dry it (the second stylist told my daughter it cost $35 to have it blow dried so it was probably a bad idea... it doesn't, so IDK why she would say that, maybe my daughter misheard but I guess the stylists decided we were cheap and that was the issue). We got home... her straight, all one length, hair is not cut straight. read more

Both my daughter and I had been going here for 8 years but I finally stopped. My stylist is a master stylist and knew what she was doing but the manager and company in general is a joke. I had been getting magenta highlights in my hair but it faded within two weeks. Came in and my stylists had to fight the manager to do them again. Guess what- faded again. You know what kind of hair dye fades in two weeks? Non permanent. I contacted the corporate office and they said the dye is only suppose to last for two weeks. Then why am I paying over $100 for something I can buy at the drug store for $10 and have it NOT fade in two weeks? I called other local salons and they assured me their dyes do not fade within two weeks because they use permanent. I also always broke out after they would use their wax on me. It was in a communal pot that stayed hot so I'm guessing they thought it would stay sanitary but don't think so. I am sad that I will lose my stylist but hopefully she will leave this dump as she deserves better. read more
