    Hyper fixation: Unagi. Yep
    Maria E.

Store brought onigiri is okay (and also cheaper, so I understand), but once you try a well-done fresh onigiri, it's hard to go backwards. So, if you want to have your brain chemistry changed, try an onigiri from here. I'm fixated on unagi so that's my flavor of choice and this place offers a tasty, delicious savory (yet slightly sweet due to the eel sauce) option. They also have tuna, salmon, spicy and regular, etc etc options. It's fast casual style, mostly to-go orders but they do have tables to eat at. It's hand-held food so dine-in or take-out works fine for this type of food. Located in the fabulous Little Tokyo Los Angeles area. Support small business.

Came here for a quick snack! The lines can get a bit long. We ordered 3 onigiris: soboro beef, chashu pork, stamina yakiniku. All were pretty good and the portions were decent with the amount of rice. Pretty filling and great for a fast snack without breaking your wallet.

Located in Daikokuya Annex, this onigiri spot is nestled among many other Little Tokyo gems (only a few steps away from Fugetsu-Do). I ordered via kiosk, but the worker at the front was very kind and open to help if I had any questions, and also offered many condiments when handing me the order. There were many filling options to choose from and I went with the 2 onigiri combo for $13. To be honest, I don't see a huge benefit, as many of the filling options under the combo deal are charged extra anyway. I got the Mentaiko and the Hokkaido Shake ($6.50 and $7, so I saved 50 cents) but probably would've chosen another filling if I just bought them individually. Both were larger than regular onigiri and freshly made. The Hokkaido Shake (grilled salmon) wasn't anything too special and the Mentaiko (pollock roe) was definitely my favorite. The roe was very generous and I would order it again if I came back. The combo also came with a complimentary miso soup. Although there are signs signifying that this location is take-out only, they welcome customers to sit in and dine (food will just be packaged to go). Overall, this spot is a bit pricy but good if you're looking for a more filling meal than a small snack onigiri.

Todays breakfadt combo was mid. $9.00 for 1 mentaiko onigiri, pickles and 2 pcs of egg and miso soup. - they shorted me and only gave me 1 egg - the rice was not fresh, maybe day old - they give alot less mentaiko than before (66% LESS) But the pickles were tasty and fresh! The miso soup was nice and hot. I was there 8am maybe next time I will go later to ensure fresher food.

Food: The onigiri was decent--not mind-blowing, but a solid quick bite if you're in the mood for something simple and filling. Service: The workers were super nice and helpful, which made the experience really smooth, especially if it's your first time there. Ambiance: The place is small and split into two sides: a to-go area with a more casual vibe and a seated restaurant-style section. The to-go side has a few seats and uses a self-serve kiosk to order, which makes things pretty easy.

    Beef, unagi, grilled salmon onigiri

You might miss this place since it's inside Daikokuya Annex! I went on a weekday during lunch time and it was empty (luckily). They have you order through a digital kiosk at the front. I had their three-onigiri combo for $19. Note that there are some onigiri options that are an extra $1 or $2. The person helping me out recommended their beef, karage, and their stamina yakiniku (grilled pork with yakiniku). I opted for the beef, grilled salmon, and unagi options. The beef was sweet, reminded me of Korean bulgogi. The grilled salmon was my least favorite. It was a bit dry to my liking, reminding me of canned fish. The unagi was my favorite, covered in the usual unagi sauce, it had good chunks of eel. All onigiris had a hefty amount of rice, so it gets pretty filling. Not sure if it's for all orders, but mine came with some miso soup, which is always a plus when there's no extra cost for it. I think they make everything on the spot since it did take a bit of time to receive my order with no one else at the restaurant, so I can imagine it taking longer when it does get busier.

ONIGIRI SUN is located in DAIKOKUYA ANNEX. It's like a food hall... you enter, place your order in a kiosk thing and then wait for your name to be called. There are at least 3 different "restaurants" (maybe less? maybe more?)you can order from in the kiosk and ONIGIRI SUN is one of them. Their onigiri selection is very good. We the 3-Piece Combo item where you could pick and choose 3 different onigiris and it came with miso soup. So far, we liked all the onigiris we ordered. Even came back a month later (yes, this review is for two different visits) and we still liked what we got. Spicy Tuna Spicy Salmon Miso Beef Shrimp Tempura Soboro Beef You can dine-in too. There are several tables inside where you can enjoy.

Made a quick snack break here. I'm vegetarian and there were several options on their menu. I really enjoyed my takana onigiri (pickled mustard leaves and sesame oil). I just love Little Tokyo and enjoyed this pop-up food shop.

Came by for a quick snack while exploring LA . It was sorta hard to find because it's actually a pop up in Daikokuya Annex so if you wanna stop by make sure you look for that restaurant!! We ordered the spicy tuna, hokkaido shake, and okaka in a 3 piece combo. It also came with miso soup which was a nice surprise. Each onigiri had a great ratio of rice and filling. When eating each one I never ran out of filling. The quality of the fillings weren't that great though. The tuna and salmon were giving canned fish which would deter me from ordering it again. The okaka had soooooo much bonito though and it was my favorite bite of the meal. It did take a bit for us to take our food so they were making it fresh to order. You are able to dine in but the food will just come in Togo boxes. The restaurant was a little dark and did have an odd smell though so next time I would take the onigiris to eat somewhere else. Overall I would say it's not bad. If I'm in the area and want onigiri I would try other items on the menu. But I wouldn't go out of my way during my trips to LA to come visit it.

Pretty gas. Popup inside Daikokuya Annex. Ordered through screens, onigiri came out fast & rice was fluffy and fresh. Got the mentaiko which was SO delicious and had a nice light amount of spice to it. Def some of the best onigiri I've ever had, clears Rice & Nori (and I love Rice & Nori).

Polite service and simple order system. The onigiri is a large and filling snack or meal on the go. A good option for breakfast if you are staying in Little Tokyo. It opens early at 8:00 am.

The onigiri that I purchased were so delicious! The unagi was so flavorful and abundant. It must've had a whole eel in there and the rice was so soft. The sauce wasn't too sweet and had the right amount of savory. The ikura with the salmon flakes was good too and I got another one but can't remember the combination. I got the 3 set but, I'm not sure if this is a common order. It is a little pricey but, it's worth it cause the onigiri is huge! Enough for 2 people if you reckon to split it. The gentleman that took my order was really nice and told me it would take about 20 mins to make which, didn't bother me cause then I knew it was gonna be fresh! I wish the parking situation was a little better and they had a full sit down restaurant but, if I'm ever back in little Tokyo (and I go often) I will definitely go back for the unagi

I've had onigiri before, but never as good as this. Most places sell them premade and cold, but here you get them made to order and fresh. Located on the Daikokuya Annex, you can order the onigiri here via kiosks. The dining area is casual with some tables to dine in for a quick bite or you can take your order to go. Let's talk about the onigiri. The rice is warm, the toppings and fillings fresh, and the portions are generous. You can order them individually or in combos of 2 or more (they also have catering!) and the combos come with a miso soup. I also like that you can customize them. Most onigiri have one filling, but with customizations you can add a second filling or topping. The kiosk offers complementary recommendations and those are the ones I chose. Not including the customizations, they have thirteen different onigiri to choose from. They have meat, seafood, vegetarian, and vegan options. I tried a few different ones including the soboro beef (+ add shiitake), stamina yakiniku, mentai mayo cream cheese, Hokkaido shake salmon (+add mentaiko), shiitake, and honey umeboshi. They were equally delicious and unique; I really loved how creamy the mentaiko mayo cream cheese was as that texture was different from the rest. They also have a selection of drinks and some desserts. They have soft drinks, canned teas, and coffee drinks. As a coffee lover, I had to try it. It's actually not coffee, but a brown rice "coffee" drink. I liked the flavor as it resembled a tea latte. It contained soy milk and was sweetened with kuromitsu - a syrup that tasted like maple. They serve a custard that has that syrup as well as a matcha tiramisu.

The sea urchins one is creamy and VERY RICH. The cream sauce bend in really well with the sea urchins. But definitely not something you would order if you are on a weaker stomach. The duck udon is flavorful with plenty of meat. The soup pair perfectly with the udon as well. There was a line outside before it opened. But not too bad. Udon noodles were good, but it was not excellent. It did have light chewy texture. BUT in comparison to Meiji Seimen, it fell short, really short! I was disappointed. BEEF BOWL It was delicious! Beef was tender and moist and loved the caramelized onion too. Rice was delicious too, not dry nor mushy. Served with pickled red ginger. A very satisfying bowl. Sat at the bar, so watched them make udon from scratch, which was nice. WAIT LIST There was a line when I got there, just as it opened. It wasn't long, but everyone wrote their name down on a wait list. There's a sheet of paper placed on the table outside. Please write your name down ASAP, as that will help in making sure that you will grab a seat. Also, the lines are disorganized too, so it's best to write down your name, so no one cuts in front of you. It is a small restaurant. Limited seats. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was okay. Everyone got in the restaurant in the order they came in. Service was quick and there were no delays in taking orders. The server came by quickly and dropped off the check as she saw that I was nearly finished with my meal. PARKING Parked at Joe's Autoparks. It was $15! I did not know until after I paid the ticket. Very difficult to find parking in this area, so not many options unless you want to walk really far, back to your car in 90 degree heat. There was another parking garage next to Joe's, but the price was the same! Would I come back again? Not sure. Given that the udon wasn't what I expected, it may be my last time here. Also, parking sucks.

We got the baked scallop roll, the crunch spider roll, and the Baja California roll. All three were amazing!!!! We also got spicy tuna crispy rice and the gyoza to start. I am not joking when I say they were the best restaurant gyoza I've had in Los Angeles. Juicy, warm, nice golden crisp on the bottom, and flavorful filling. The baked scallop roll was my personal favorite of the three; it was warm and savory, with an excellent bite from the juicy scallops. It was a great contrast to the Baja roll, which is cold and has crunchy elements to it. And the spider roll was one I didn't expect to like (my boyfriend wanted it), but ended up being my second favorite! The soft shell crab flavor is deliciously salty and pairs great with the surrounding flavors. I'll definitely be back for more!

The Wagyu katsu you cook on a hot stone at the table which I liked as an interactive dish. The Wagyu cheeseburger was dripping with juice but still had those crunchy edges. The Uni pasta was beautiful & delicious. The Chimichurri prawns I could eat multiple plates of- the shell comes sliced down the middle so you just have to peel it off. For dessert we ordered the Kodo basque cheesecake & Miso chocolate torte. I love a basque cheesecake & the sesame crumble added great texture. The miso chocolate torte made me wish I ordered my own. Everything from start to finish was amazing, it's hard to pick favorites. Parking- valet $13

Food is delicious, drinks are good, and parking isn't hard to find if you're willing to walk a little. The design kinda dark inside, but the patio is always nice. The best part? I can be in and out in less than an hour if I wanted!
