I made a reservation for 5:30 pm last Saturday. Although the restaurant was still empty, the hostess gave us the worst table in the restaurant. I nicely asked her to get me a better table, but she denied me the opportunity to sit at the other available tables (for two) that were in the Main room. Because of her lack of goodwill, I decided to tell her to get me the table in the Sushi room, because my reservation was for there. She didn't believe, so I had to show her the screenshot from my cellphone to prove it. I go to this restaurant since 2004 when I first lived in Venice. I know the owner Esther since then. The 3 stars I am giving are not for the food or for the way this wonderful lady runs her business, but I find important that she's aware of how some employees can suddenly turn her business into a bad experience, like the one I had that night.

So things have really evolved here over the last 8 years since my first review. There have been major makeovers and changes, including a hidden patio area outside that can be rented for private functions. The walls are modern and sharp, whilst still paying homage to old Venice with gorgeous photos of yesteryear. The menu has had a few changes as well, some that I don't love (the green devil roll used to be my favorite, but they use such little chili oil now I rarely order it; and they no longer have my favorite wakame salad), but some welcomed new ones (oooo that one ramen bowl!). I now find my self here, if not every week, then every other week. Love it!

Patio is mostly indoor with an open roof, it's a fun ambiance. Great place to grab a Japanese beer and some small bites off of their happy hour menu.

Still my favorite local spot. The beauty of this institution and Venice staple is that it is family, friendly, as well as a great place to watch sports and get your party on. Hey, be sure to say hello to Logan the GM. He is always down to accommodate, meet new guest, and hang out with us locals. He has reinvented a few things on the menu and always has a great attitude. If you're lucky, Esther will be there. She is a strong woman who watches over her product. A personal mentor and inspiration for me and a gem of a friend to all. Everyone there is quality. Naoko, Steph and Marg to name a few. Enjoy.

Service was great! We sat at the sushi bar and they were very attentive and super nice. I was looking for a place to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and this place did not disappoint!! I'm not a sushi fan myself but I even liked the cucumber roll. My boyfriend enjoyed his crunchy crab roll. Highly recommend!

Service was super sweet and took care of us so well. We ordered the crispy chicken karaage, spicy miso ramen, and an unsweetened green tea. Overall, it was a good experience however the Ramen itself wasn't as flavorful as some others that I've had and I felt the noodles were a bit too chewy. Inside is pretty small so there may be a wait if it's crowded but also many people seem to get to go orders. For this visit, I chose the Spicy Miso Soup Butter Corn and added a side of beef, which I enjoyed. Ramen is always a comfort meal to me so it did hit the spot on a cold night. It was a nice dinner and I would recommend however it is not my favorite ramen in Los Angeles.

A bit on the saltier side, but I feel like that's always my take on ramen. Came with spicy sauce, which was very mild and I had to add some extra in there for the perfect spice level. We were lucky to find a metered parking that already had money in it, yay! There are a bunch of eateries on this street as well. It's a small restaurant inside, but more space outside. Not that busy at all, there were only 2 other parties dining at the same time as us during prime dinner time. I saw they were running a Demon Slayer promotion and I wanted the free spoon haha. So I ordered the Tokyo Yatai Ramen and my friend ordered the Birria Ramen. The waiter or owner(?) who talk our order was also very nice! Very quick and efficient with our order. It didn't take too long for our ramen to be prepared. First glance, it doesn't look like your traditional ramen. It actually looks more Chinese style ramen. Especially the noodles? The texture is not quite the same as traditional ramen shops (and I have been to Japan). The ramen bowl itself was pretty simple, strong flavors from the chicken broth, the pork itself was pretty alright. It's honestly pretty standard but does not have a Japanese feel to it. I tried my friend's Birria Ramen and it's literally tastes like a taco in a bowl haha, which is pretty accurate. So even my Chinese friend likes the birria ramen because it reminds of her this Chinese instant noodle she always has lol. So I guess meaning in a good and bad way, but she still enjoyed it. Overall, the whole experience was not bad. I do only see JINYA in the more 'whiter' communities, so I find this to be not very authentic Japanese ramen. Also it's pricy for what it is when I can get an authentic bowl for $16.

We got there right as they opened and were seated and able to order immediately. The food and service were both top tier. The broth was incredibly flavorful and had just the right amount of kick. You could tell it had been simmering for hours, even though they had just opened for the day. The chashu pork was served piping hot and had the perfect texture, not too fatty and not too lean. The noodles were perfectly al dente as well, exactly how I like them. The seating is a bit tight, so I'd recommend coming early. Inside is not very large, however, they have plenty of tables for groups from 2 to 4 as well as some counter seating if you are a party of one. The menu is pretty small, but it has all the classic Ramen options on it. I was also impressed with how quick our food was ready, it came out in less than 10 minutes and had some really great flavors. Pricing is really fair and the portion sizes were significant. For my first visit I chose the Spicy Tonkotsu which is pork broth with roasted pork. I usually prefer beef or chicken with Ramen, but really enjoyed this pork version. It was not very spicy, but the pork itself was really delicate and had a lot of great flavor to it. It was also a good sized portion so there was plenty of noodles and ground chicken as well. We also ordered some Fried Rice and thought it was fantastic. Both dishes really hit the spot and I would highly recommend this spot to anyone in the area or to anyone searching for some of the better Ramen spots in LA.
