Went here for my step mother birthday. They only had a brunch menu for 3pm?... I'm not a breakfast girl so I asked the waitress if there was anything else she offered a few things, I decided on the burger. Burger was a burger nothing special. Could use some more seasoning in the meat as it was just hamburger with cheese. My step mom, father and fiancé all ordered breakfast items. Again, nothing special one had an omelet, 2 had eggs Benedict..... my step mom asked for spinach with hers she didn't get it.... and on top of that the home fries were way over seasoned.... to the point you could smell it across the table and I was even eating it.... The reason for the review 2 main things. First service is absolutely terrible. Our food order took 45 minutes to an hour to come out..... for brunch 1 items and 1 burger.... which still was partially incorrectly made....only 1 other table in the restaurant who had already eaten and a few people at the bar...... nothing from the server who complained disappeared. Secondly the main reason for the review my card was over charged. The server Zoe M. took an extra $5 tip stating it was a "mistake"........ there's a huge difference to writing a 1 and a 5 on paper and I have nice handwriting. I called the store the manager John was ok. Seemed to just make excuses for everything, short staffed kitchen and that the server just says it was a mistake. It was refunded yes but I wonder how many other folks this happens to.....? I would just watch out if you go there. read more

Mediocre bar food that's overly priced. I ordered the wings here and they had little to no sauce on them and lacked seasoning. The place itself has a nice ambiance, I came with a ground of friends around 6pm and once the sun set they set out a bunch of candles that give the place a cute romantic vibe. read more

My wife and I are from New York and we came to visit family. We did the whole touristy thing and we were hungry for some bar food. We saw Hamilton's and we were close so we all went. What a great decision on our part. The food was absolutely great. The wings were just perfect ... the deviled eggs were something I wasn't expecting. I bit into it and was hooked on them. I had the burger... nice and thick!! Very tasty .... our cousins were in love as well and said to us and to their staff that they'll be coming back a lot. Strongly recommend!! read more

We came to watch the Women's World Cup last week. We were one of the first people there, and we ordered pretty soon thereafter, and before it started to get busy. For whatever reason, it appears they only had one waitress working, despite it being Sunday brunch, as well as the World Cup. Our waitress was lovely, but she was incredibly inattentive, given the number of tables she had to attend to. The kitchen was also extremely backed up. We were 8 people, and they served 4 of us our food probably about 40 minutes or so after we ordered it. About another 10 minutes went by before they brought 2 of my friends their food. Then another 20 minutes or so went by before the last 2 in our party got their food. How rude to serve 2 people half an hour after the rest of their party. And to make matters worse, a table next to us that arrived and ordered much later than we did got their food before 2 of my friends. Also, most of us ordered eggs, which are obviously very quick and easy to make. On top of this, one of my friends and I each ordered an omelette with spinach and mushrooms. Hamilton nickel and dimes on the ingredients, so each vegetable costs 50 cents. That's all well and good, except neither of our omelettes had spinach in them. We didn't bother asking for them to be redone because we'd have been there until Tuesday. The bigger problem was that we were both charged for spinach. It was only $1 that we were overcharged, so we didn't bother making a fuss about it. But it's the principle of the matter. The food was fine, certainly nothing special. And given the poor management/service, I won't be returning. read more

We just had the most amazing Thanksgiving dinner at Hamilton, could not have been better and I set the bar high after a lifetime of home cooked Thanksgiving dinners. Unexpectedly found ourselves here after visiting my dad in the hospital. We were greeted with kindness, delicious food, a great wine list, attention to detail. John the manager made sure everything was perfect and the chef who btw cooked 12 20 lb turkeys today, still went out of the way to come to the table and deliver our dinners in person. We come here for drinks a lot but tonight was our first dinner experience. The food wasn't terrible but portions weren't great. My fish tacos weren't very "filled" -- lots of bites that were 100% taco shell and no filling. It would be nice if they had sides other than fries! But everyone else enjoyed their food. read more

One of the worst places I've ever been. Watch out! Location is great and the "look" of the bar is decent. The menu, however, is very limited and very strange. It took us time to figure out what to eat. I got the burger, which came undercooked. I asked for Medium and received it rare. Unfortunately I did not ask to cook it more and suffered all night. I was nauseous all night, almost vomited several times and had massive diarrhea all morning. The next day I could barely eat and felt sick all day. In short -- this place will be closing soon based on the very poor food. Save yourself an extremely poor experience and avoid this place. read more

Surliest most inhospitable bar I've been to. Went with a friend to watch a Final 4 game. Place was pretty much empty. Totally disinterested unsmiling bartender. No dark beer on tap. When I asked if they had any peanuts or chips he wordlessly pointed to a late night expensive munchie menu on bar. Hamilton's is everything a local bar should not be. Unpleasant and stingy. My friends and I would have had 3-4 rounds had we settled in for the entire game. Really a great spot to watch a patriots game. There are TVs all over the place. Bartenders and owner were very accommodating to a large group of us who were coming and going for an engagement party. Lemon pepper wings and other apps were a real treat. Hot fresh and a good quantity. Hope we can go back again soon. read more

This use to be my favorite bar. My boyfriend and I had our first date here I've been here several times over the years. However we recently went back and place has completely changed. This use to be such a unique bar with a great cocktail list of one of a kind drinks named after historical figures. Use to have great ambiance with friendly staff. Now it's just like every other hipster bar blasting music, tvs on every wall and kids running the front of the restaurant who are just unprofessional. We also never actually got our dinner. Put our order in had to reorder then one meal came out but was told the other they were out of? This is after waiting for 30min. Basically spent 2 hours here waiting and then had to get dinner somewhere else. So sad to see this wonderful neighborhood bar turn into this. The atmosphere in the place is pretty cool. The first drink I got (Ben Franklin) was really good but then a new bartender made our second round...and...not great. It was the George Washington and my god was it bad. Just tasted like bad water. We didn't eat here so I have nothing to say about the food. I think the place has potential but it needs to be more consistent in its drinks by different bartenders in order for it to be a regular spot to hit on the way home. 3 Stars, not great not terrible but it wouldn't be the first on my list to hit again read more

Dined here last night, overall a good experience with areas for improvement. I like the decor, very open design and large bar with many TVs. I'd say it would be a great place to meet after work or catch a game. We had drinks at the bar, then informed our bartender we wanted to move to a table for dinner. We settled our tab, but the bartender made no effort to secure us a table. After several attempts to get his attention, I walked to the host station, and asked the host if we could be seated for dinner. His response was not at all helpful, he slowly walked to clear an empty table for us. He seemed annoyed by my request. As we waited the hostess returned and happily seated us at another table. Our server was excellent, very friendly and helpful. My Tito's and soda was flat, so he brought me a new drink, but it was still flat. Not his fault, obviously a bar issue, but at least he tried. The cod dish was amazing, and so was the burger. Food overall was excellent, but they need to work out the service issues. There seems to be a lack of consistent enthusiasm amongst the staff. read more

Came here on Marathon Monday 15 minutes after it opened at 5:15, step inside and the hostess says "table for four will be 15 minutes." She does not take our name or phone number, does not give any directions on where to wait or anything. She just ends up walking away until another worker comes and gives us a table after like 10 minutes, cool. Next, we wait around 15-20 minutes for a waiter to come up to us for anything, we hadn't even received our water yet. But somehow the group behind us had received their water and their orders were taken instantly. We personally had to send one of our own to get up and get a waiter who said "I'll get someone right on it." He gets us water then another 15 minutes go by before another jumbling buffoon finally comes up to us and FINALLY asks what appetizers we would want. The best part is that it's past 6:00, the restaurant hasn't been open for more than an hour, and somehow doesn't have any flatbreads or Alfredo. We just got up and left while the waiter was taking our order. We'd been there for more than an hour already. This place didn't deserve our money and I'm amazed this dysfunctional mess is allowed to be called a restaurant. We will never be back here, good luck if you have the misfortune of needing to eat here. read more

Super happy with Hamilton. We were visiting from out of town. My daughter is going to grad school at BU. She also works at Paper Source which is located across the street. During our visit she had a work meeting. We decided to wait for her at Hamilton. Three glasses of wine later we wanted some chips and salsa (which is not on the menu) the owner procured a platter full of tortilla chips and homemade salsa! Yum! So- after bartender #1 left the 2nd bartender remade them -- with club soda. Really? Strike 2. This is a true beer joint. We went here pre-"official" opening and were SO impressed by the high quality of the food. We had the cod (which was amazingly prepared with mashed parsnips and leeks and root veggies), the half chicken (was cooked to perfection and the spices were fantastic) and the kale-quinoa salad with heirloom carrots and tomatoes (DELICIOUS). We thought staff was on the ball, our server was really nice, and we were in and out of there in under an hour on a Friday night. Loved the theme/decor/atmosphere and the music was great (loved the old school 90's jams). The way they have the TV's positioned, doesn't matter where you sit, you can see a TV (clutch on a night with both the Sox and the Celtics playing). Would definitely go back again. read more

What happened to this place?! I'm a regular and have been coming since it opened, but recently this place has just gotten plain bad! Many of the items that used to be on their menu are no longer there. There's always a different bartender when I go, and the most recent one had no clue about things. I went in most recently this past Saturday with friends and sat at the bar. I was raving about their Bloody Mary and when I went to order it, the bartender said they didn't have the mix. She said that they were out of tomato juice and Tabasco sauce and have been out of it for a few days. She later said that the management hasn't bought any. I mean it's Saturday, you have the Bloody Mary as one of your specials, and you don't have the mix? How hard is it to get tomato juice and Tabasco sauce? There are so many grocery stores down the street!! To make matters worse, my friend ordered a Negroni and the bartender had no clue how to make it. A few friends had wine and when they decided to switch to a different type of wine, the bartender didn't even give them fresh glasses. It was only after one of my friends told her that they would like a fresh glass, did the bartender give a new one. I ordered the kale and quinoa salad and when it arrived, half the ingredients were missing...no tomatoes, no cheese, barely any quinoa. My friends ordered food and it was underwhelming and again many of the ingredients were missing. The bartender was a bit aloof and she seemed clueless about what should and shouldn't be in the menu items.. I guess the only good thing about this place is the beer. As a Brookline resident I looked forward to trying a new restaurant and bar in Coolidge Corner. Yelp reviews were not favorable - then they improved so I thought I'd give it a try. What a disappointment. No one was paying attention to the door when we entered, though there were only a few bar customers. When seated, I noticed the silverware was dirty, I checked the other place setting and saw greasy fingerprints on the knife. The cocktails were so overpriced, I ordered a glass of wine - the only good part of the experience. I ordered an appetizer, my friend ordered a burger - nothing special. I won't go back and am hoping Coolidge Corner can attract better. read more

I chose to visit Hamilton for my birthday dinner on the tenth. I had my eye on it since it opened a few months ago. I was very pleased! It is a young restaurant, so they don't have a ton of options, but the ones they have are excellent. I got a burger, and it was one of the largest, juiciest, tastiest burgers I've ever had! I also got the James Madison drink, and it was quite good (luckily I like my drinks strong!). The atmosphere was really neat, like a slightly more upscale/classy pub, and it had a nice mixture of classic bar mixed with trendy hangout. Probably the most important part of the dining experience for me though is the staff, and the staff here are incredible! The waiters were very on top of things and friendly, and the manager or owner (?) came out to our table to check on us as well and wish me a happy birthday! It was very clear they cared about us having a good experience. The icing on the cake was all our food came out perfectly done at the same time! That almost never happens to us when we go out places as a group! I will absolutely return to Hamilton, and I hope they stay a Brookline fixture! read more
