About a week ago I booked a room with a king bed and I was a little hesitant due to the reviews that are on here but to my surprise it was very well cleaned and very spacious. Good breakfast in the morning and for $89 not bad at all. Seeing that every other hotel around here charges $150 a night. Parking was great got to park right in front of my room and felt much safer knowing they had security. Friendly and helpful staff

Words can't even describe what a complete and utter dump this places is. My girlfriend and I were planning a weekend getaway and what better place to choose then Channel Islands inn. The name sounds amazing!.. right?...Or so we thought. When we first pulled in, the place was so sketchy we thought our GPS directed us to the wrong place. Trash and abandoned shopping carts throughout the parking lot ,homeless people living between the buildings ,broken down cars with the windows busted out in the parking lot, fallen down parking lot lights laying in the trees etc. We decided to walk in and take a look around. We walked up to the front desk and there is nobody around. We ring the bell several times and no one came out. At this point we decided to walk around to see if we could find someone to help us. Finally, after around 15 minutes someone came to help us with all her kids right behind her. What?.. are you kidding me!.. Our check in was at 3 but we were told that our room wouldn't be ready until 4...at this point we decided that this place was way beyond sketchy and definitely didn't look clean or safe to stay!. Anyone thinking about staying here, do yourself a favor and don't waste your hard earned money on this establishment. Please look at the photos so you know I'm not lying! .. also check out their pool sign!.. gross!

    Super cool beans in lobby

I do not understand why this place has such a low rating. Right from the start the lobby is a beautiful space and Vanessa at the front desk was very helpful and professional! The rooms are quite nice and the property is very quiet. Breakfast was great! Didn't get a chance to use the pool or spa this time, but could have due to the 12pm standard checkout time. Would definitely stay here again and have already shared it with others.

    Just some pictures I took...

Don't stay here! Not worth it at all! Rooms were dirty. Bathrooms were disgusting. Tub had hair and dirt in it. Looked like they only clean at eye level and nothing below. Room blankets had stains. Ac unit had a knob missing so we were stuck at the temperature it was at until a family member lent us a pair of pliers. Elevator hasn't been working for apparently 10 months.. And they charge $10 to take the breakfast plates to our elderly/handicap family members. Breakfast was gross. Potatoes seemed like they were reheated. Saturday it was only eggs, potatoes and waffles. At least in Sunday they added sausage.. In the past they had 2 waffle makers. They only had one now since the other broke. The one that was there... The timer didn't work so you had to time it to make sure yours didn't burn. Juice wasn't minute maid like it claimed to be. The pool was the same as last year... It didn't meet health codes so people weren't supposed to swim in it. They had a sign up in the beginning that looked like it was from the city but later on it was stake down.. I don't think the city would have someone come out on a Saturday to inspect it... Ice machine is a waste of space since it does not work. Service wasn't great at all. Asked for towels and was told we would get them in 15 minutes. 30 minutes late nothing. Called and said OK be there soon. My mom called for her room and an hour went by. Neither of us had towels. Called a third time and finally 20 mins later we got our towels. Abandoned cars are left there or at least they look like it because of all the cob webs and dirt and leaves on the cars. Don't stay here!

Check out how dingy the rooms are. I had two rooms. Both were the same.

I am really disappointed at Booking.com for even having the Channel Island Inn included in their offerings. It took almost an hour to get checked into the hotel. There was a long line of people waiting to check in, and only one clerk, who had to go back and forth to check reservations, get printouts, and make keys; ridiculous! Then, we get to our rooms and all of the plugs are so worn out, our phone chargers slip out of the socket, the remotes to the TV's don't work, there are no ice buckets (I know there is a fridge, but ice buckets are nice too), there are coffee makers but, no coffee, the carpets smell, and the rooms look dingy. At this point, I don't even know if the ice maker works, since it has been over an hour now since the desk said they were going to send over an ice bucket; must still be checking people in. Pretty shady looking area. DON'T BOOK YOUR STAY HERE!!! NOTE: Never got an ice bucket. The towels felt like sandpaper, and you could see through them. What a dump!

    Broken AC

It's a dump . Ac broken , couldn't open the window/ sliding door because no screen , spiders , very dark in a unsafe area. Lobby & office looks good the rooms are dumps. I wish I would've seen these reviews first. Don't be cheap spend a little more & get a good room. Don't fall for the overly nice staff. It's a dump

Had 3 rooms for a family reunion in the area. This was the host hotel. One room had broken air conditioning and broken ceiling fan, another room had brown water come out of the bathroom and vanity sinks, and the 3rd room had large black stains all over the carpet. No hand towels provided in any rooms - 2 of the rooms only had 1 bath towel and 1 washcloth. No manager available for complaints. Email sent one week ago and no response. Also, pool not working (apparently for more than 1 year) ice machine also does not work. Family reunion has used this as host hotel for years - but not anymore. Other complaints were, broken or missing ceiling fans and dirty rooms.

    Riley L.

Upon entering this room, the first thing I noticed was how terrible it smelled. The main light didn't even work and the lamp didn't work either. I found 1 blood stain on the pillow and 1 on the sheets. The floor is disgusting. Honestly don't waste your money here go somewhere else.

Rooms are not cleaned daily by housekeeping, so don't expect that. The pool is small, but the hot tub is big. We tried to order drinks and food at the pool, but that wasn't available despite having order tags on all the chairs at the pool. They do have a small bar next to the pool, but I didn't venture over there. Towels are at the pool and there is an attendant there who takes your room number when you pick them up. But, they constantly leave and that's a problem as they take your room number when you pick them up! So, I'm hoping I didn't get charged for any towels I returned. On a positive note, the hotel has direct beach access and that was the highlight of our weekend getaway! You can walk directly from the hotel to the sand and you can rent beach at the hotel which is nice. The rest of the hotel, outside of our room was really nice.

We were bummed later to find out the swimming pool was under renovation, but the front desk called their sister property next door so we can use their swimming pool. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy as described in other reviews but we had no issues at all. I reserved a two-bedroom, 1.5-bath apartment that comfortably accommodated three of us, and it could easily host a family of six thanks to its spacious layout and a convenient pullout couch downstairs. The amenities exceeded my expectations--shower pressure was excellent, making quick and refreshing showers easy especially if you're a big group. The condo includes utilities for four people, with plenty of towels provided (Thanks Tina). While there's no air conditioning, the ocean breeze just a block away kept the unit comfortably cool throughout our stay. A nice bonus was having a hot tub in each unit, perfect for relaxing evenings. Parking was also straightforward, with one dedicated spot included. A heads-up for warmer months: if you're sensitive to heat, keep in mind that summer temperatures can get quite hot, and the unit might feel warm without A/C. Additionally, because of the communal setup, it can get quite loud--sounds from neighboring units are audible--so don't forget your earplugs if you value quiet. Off-season, this spot is ideal for friends' getaways or a quick romantic escape. Overall, a charming and practical choice that offers great value and a fantastic location near the ocean.

Hospitality is not simply a service offered here--it is the very heart of the culture. From the moment my husband and I arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth, welcoming smiles, and a level of kindness that immediately made us feel valued as guests. Every interaction with the staff reflected a sincere commitment to hospitality, professionalism, and guest satisfaction. It is evident that caring for others is not just part of their job description; it is something they genuinely embrace. We would especially like to recognize and thank Bridgette, who welcomed us upon our arrival. Bridgette went above and beyond to ensure we knew our way to our room, had everything we needed, and felt completely comfortable from the very beginning of our stay. More than that, she made us feel as though we were home for the night rather than simply guests checking into a hotel. Her warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care exemplify what exceptional hospitality should be. Her guest service is truly stellar and deserving of recognition. Beyond the outstanding service, the location is ideal. Hotel San Buena is within walking distance of the heart of the city, providing convenient access to a wonderful variety of restaurants, shops, and local attractions. Whether you are looking for casual dining, upscale cuisine, or something in between, the diverse selection of nearby restaurants offers something for every taste and preference. The property itself is absolutely stunning. Rich in historical architecture and character, Hotel San Buena offers a unique experience that blends timeless elegance with modern comfort. From the moment you walk through the doors, you are transported to another era. The attention to architectural detail, charm, and preservation of the building's history create an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and memorable. Perhaps one of the most refreshing aspects of our stay was discovering that the hotel is exactly what it appears to be on its website. In an era where photos can sometimes overpromise, Hotel San Buena exceeds expectations. The beauty, character, cleanliness, and ambiance showcased online are an accurate reflection of the experience guests receive upon arrival. Simply put, it is beautiful. An additional feature we greatly appreciated was the secure, guest-only parking. Knowing that parking was safe, well-maintained, and reserved exclusively for hotel guests provided an added sense of comfort and peace of mind throughout our stay. The team consistently goes above and beyond to ensure every guest enjoys a comfortable and memorable stay. Their attentiveness, positive attitudes, and genuine care create an environment that feels welcoming, personal, and authentic. For anyone searching for accommodations in the area, my husband and I wholeheartedly encourage you to make Hotel San Buena your first choice. Whether traveling for business, leisure, or a special occasion, you will find a property where exceptional service, beautiful surroundings, historic charm, and heartfelt hospitality come together seamlessly. In an industry where genuine hospitality can sometimes be difficult to find, Hotel San Buena stands as a shining example of what it means to make guests feel truly welcome.
