My husband and I visited Chicago Nov 14-16th 2025 for the Michigan /Northwestern game at Wrigley, we stayed at the Hampton Inn McCormick, in downtown Chicago near Chinatown, adjacent to the Wintrust arena. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL DUE TO THE STAFF BEING THIEVES. It is a very nice hotel, I won't deny that. But their employees are thieves and liars and the hotel management won't do anything for its customers. I inadvertently and accidentally left a few articles of clothing in the Hotel room closet and upon realizing what had happened, after we had gotten back home to Detroit, I called the hotel. I was instructed to visit a website to report the items left and that they would look into it. Being as that my husband work for the Hilton hotels, doing scheduling for security at two of their hotels near the Detroit Metro Airport and that he'd been with them for over 30 years, we were aware of the Hilton Holtel policy and procedures of found property left in rooms. I am now, also aware of their policy for employees on social media posts regarding their Hotels not receiving help as the victim, but being crucified. If they don't care about policies, why should we?! Found property items are to be collected and immediately brought to the housekeeping office where they are documented and stored until the owner calls or returns to claim the items. Once a claim has been made and the items are pulled from the lost and found, the hotel will make arrangements to ship the articles to you at your expense. My articles that were left, didn't make it to the lost and found, were never recorded as being located and are currently still "missing"... months later. They weren't "found", they WERE stolen. Clothing does not just walk out of a room on their own... So he wrote Corporate headquarters... This is the letter he sent to the CEO of the hotel: The reason for my letter today is to express concern, as well as to report a theft from a room that my wife and I booked over this past weekend, (11/14/2025 through 11/16/2025) in Chicago, Illinois' Hampton Inn McCormick. Please know that I fully understand it consists of just clothing, but one piece in particular is an article of clothing that my wife had gotten from my now deceased Father.  It is a piece of clothing that she held near and dear to her heart. We checked out on the 16th of November around 10:30am.  I went up to the room after an early morning of site seeing, to grab our suitcase and a travel bag while my husband stayed downstairs curbside dealing with the Valet parking.  While in the room, I neglected to look inside the closet and left several articles of clothing, including this particular Michigan Wolverine Vest. Upon arriving back home in the Detroit area,  I realized her error and informed me. We immediately contacted the Hotel and were given a website address to file a report with which we did. (Ileftmystuff.com) We received a confirmation email stating that the report had been received and that an employee or supervisor would contact us upon their receiving of the email in the housekeeping office. My husband & I made several calls to the housekeeping office on Sunday night and all day the following Monday, November 17th.   We recieved no verbal contact or response from anyone until 8:30pm on the 18th. The employee last night that we talked to, I believe her name was "Sierra M." stated that she received the email and went up to our room, #1834, immediately after reading it, around 6pm.  Upon entering the room on Sunday evening,  she stated that the room had not been cleaned yet, and that she did not find anything in the closet or room itself.   We are 100% certain that we left them in the closet.  They obviously did not walk out of the room on their own. Housekeeping claims that they have not been able to locate the articles of clothing and that they have not been turned in  or logged by any Housekeeping employee as of yet. I am aware that the hotel utilizes the automated card readers and can determine who and when someone accessed the room and I am also aware that there was a security camera located in the Southeast corner of the floor that can be reviewed.  I pay attention to these details in every Hilton hotel I stay in.  I have filed a police report with the Chicago Police Department for Larceny from a building and, if proven that a Housekeeping employee did remove the clothing, for personal usage and/or discarded them or failed to follow Hilton procedures for Lost Items, I will press charges against the individual. I would ask that the hotel discipline or terminate the employee for theft and dishonesty.  The reason for writing you, the CEO of the Hilton Hotel chain, is to inform you of how mistreated and ignored my wife and I feel for making a simple error in leaving property.  We have tried multiple times to contact the housekeeping supervisor or the hotel manager and have had our calls and requests go unaswered. read more

Good stay overall and would return again. This was my second visit to Hampton Inn McCormick. The downtown location is the reason I chose this property. Guest can find many restaurants within walking distance which is a major perk. Front desk staff were friendly. Security is typically around and necessary with an issue I witnessed with a transient not wanting to leave. Room was prepared for my arrival and no issues. The bed was comfortable and I rested well. I also utilized their laundry/dry-cleaning option that worked well at concierge desk. The cost was not bad. I would return due to the convenience alone. The property is well managed which makes me happy to be a proud Diamond member of Hilton. read more

Convenient hotel to stay for attending events at McCormick Place convention center. It's close to a L station and not far from Chinatown. Can walk to downtown Chicago if weather is nice, but it's a bit further away. The building is divided into a Hilton Garden Inn, Home2 Suites and the Hampton Inn. The lobby and amenities are shared (except the breakfast area is Hampton Inn only), but the elevators are separate. There's a pool and a fitness center that's not too tiny. The hotel is connected to the McCormick Place via enclosed skyway so you don't have to go outdoors when it's chilly out, although it is a 0.6-0.7 mile walk one-way to the Lakeside Center. As for the hotel rooms, they are reasonably modern and clean. The bed is not bad, although I still needed to add a towel under my hips. Didn't eat the breakfast there but it's included. Overall the place met expectations for a simple business hotel close to the convention center. read more

Easy in, easy out location checking in was flawless. Nice sitting area in the lobby to meet guests. Great location to walk, eat hit a party store as there's numerous options in the area that is walking distance. A view of Wrigley Field lit up at night is a bonus and Lake Michigan was very visible in the room I had. I was Impressed with the comfort, cleanliness of the room and felt safe going to and from in and outside the Hampton. Taking an uber to Soldier Stadium was quick and inexpensive from this location too. Parking is plentiful it is pay to park and one night of parking cost 70.00. read more

It is still unreal to me that in 2026 that I continue to witness overt acts of racism. Let me preface the next real account that I personally witnessed today with we are fine. However please share and tag Hilton Hilton Honors Hilton Hotels & Resorts when you do. My students were honored to receive the Reverend Theresa Dear scholarship which enabled us to attend the NAACP National Convention in Chicago. Reverend Dear and the KY state NAACP President had coordinated an effort to provide pizzas for all of the young adults to join in a pizza party on both Monday and Tuesday during lunch. Reverend Dear found sponsorships that provided the pizza, salad, and drinks free of charge to the students. The youth delegates are housed in two Hilton brand hotels, the Hampton Inn at McCormick Place and the Hilton Downtown Chicago. On Saturday both the Reverend and our state president confirmed with the Hampton Inn that our group could use the second floor of the hotel to host the pizza party on both days. When we arrived at the Hampton as soon as we exited the elevator, we were met with management. The Hampton representative asked us for our Hampton Inn room keys. We explained that we were staying at the Hilton as part of the convention and were there just for the party set up behind her. We all had Hilton brand keys as well as our NAACP convention badges. We were not allowed to pass. My students and I sat down as group after group had the same experience as the Hampton staff member passive aggressively talked to these young adults who were respectful, professional, and composed. More and more joined us, and I personally watched her treat even the Hampton guests with disdain and disrespect. It was clear that this was not a capacity issue but a color issue. This tense encounter lasted for over 45 minutes. Not once did an advisor, representative, or youth from the NAACP act combative or irreverent. During this time, my blood sugar plummeted as I was still waiting for my lunch. I had to take a seat to go through my backpack to find emergency snacks. The solution was to let the students line up, go four at a time, and for ALL of them including the Hampton guest to eat elsewhere. I was very disturbed by what I had witnessed. After speaking with three customer services reps via chat and two phone calls. Once again my concerns were dismissed. After the second customer service chat with Cooper, I was promised both a case number and a call from customer service. Neither came. I called customer service and after just giving my name, rewards account, hotel where the incident occurred, and that I was here for the NAACP Convention, I was hung up on. The last chat, I was hopeful because for the first time it appeared that someone was listening and concerned. However when I asked for a case number, none could be provided. I was told the management at the Hampton Inn McCormick Place would address my concerns. The very last message from this "live agent" chat sloppily contained the tag of Microsoft Copilot. It was AI not a live agent like I had been promised and requested. I am a Hilton Rewards member and often use Hilton Brands for our student travel. Hilton's core Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) statement emphasizes that "Diversity is at the core of our Vision, Mission, and Values." That is not what I witnessed today. That is not what the 100 students of color witnessed today. You have lost not only my business but my respect. read more

Ideal for a conference with the walkway right from the 3rd floor, but slightly less ideal for post-conference touristing as it was a little far from the main riverwalk and city sights. Ubers were fast and easy though, and there is a metra station and a Lyft bike docking station just a little bit away too. An overall comfy and clean stay, which is really what you want from your hotel. I felt safe as a solo female traveller, and really appreciated the convenience of the in lobby starbucks too -- app order from my room, and then head down in my jammies to pick it up. Breakfast was okay, but nothing unexpected. Would stay here again for a conference no questions asked, but might stay elsewhere for a true leisure stay! read more

Recently stayed four nights at the Hampton Inn Chicago McCormick Place because I was presenting at a conference at McCormick Place. I had a comfortable and safe stay during my visit. Staff that I interacted with were professional, the common areas and my room were well-maintained and clean, and the room itself was more than adequate for a longer stay. This hotel is part of a larger Hilton property that houses three of the company's brands: Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, and the Home2 Suites. Each had their own set of elevators from the lobby. It was an interesting set up, but straightforward to navigate. The hotel was extremely convenient for those attending a conference at McCormick Place as it has its own skybridge connected to the conference center. The Hampton Inn also offered complimentary breakfast each morning that had a decent mix of hot and cold breakfast staples for guests to enjoy. My room was a standard room with two queen beds that had ample space to move around, a good size bathroom, a mini fridge, and several outlets to charge up devices. I would definitely return to the Hampton Inn at McCormick Place again if attending a conference at McCormick Place and the price was right. The location was a little far from many of the touristy spots one may want to visit while in Chicago and this was really the only drawback of the stay (which is more of a personal preference issue). Overall, a good first impression and memorable visit. read more

A mixed experience this time: I frequently stay at Hampton Inns, and I'm usually pleased. Clean bright up-to-date hotel sharing a nice spacious lobby and pool with two other Hilton Brands. Lovely view of the lake from upper floors. Ok to good restaurants within walking distance. Felt safe walking to those day and night. The Hampton has a daily hot breakfast buffet, usually eggs and bacon or sausage, sometimes french toast. Always oatmeal or grits, always waffles, pastries, and cereal. Clean rooms. Nice view. Friendly staff. My disappointments were that the breakfast hot-trays didnt keep the food piping hot, more like warm. The eggs were usually on the dry side, whether slightly overcooked or just in the hot-tray too long. That's not so bad. But the tv in the room had no guide, and the engineering staff was unable to fix it over 5 days. It's nice to have over 60 channels, but not when you have to change channels one at a time to see what's on. Our stay was expensive, which was the market price, so ok, but a small discount for no tv would have been nice. I booked through a third party, and this hotel told them the outage was due to Hurricane Helene, which made landfall 1000 miles away, 10-days later. A ridiculous lie. The hotel is nice in most ways, and service was fine except for those annoying unnecessary fails. Update: Hilton reached out to me and helped smooth over the rough parts of this experience. To me, a responsive group is a big plus, so i added back a star. read more

Not bad, but a few glaring problems that would seem like easy fixes: The barn-door style bathroom door doesn't close all the way, leaving a five-inch gap. Which means if housekeeping comes in while you're in the shower, they get a great look, so remember to deadbolt your door. Speaking of the shower, there was basically no hot water during the length of my stay. I mentioned this when checking out and got a "We're sorry. Safe travels." response from the desk clerk. So I guess this isn't uncommon. Finally, I had some gear shipped to the Amazon locker which is (ostensibly) conveniently located in the lobby. But that little nook is where the hotel stores its luggage carts, so you basically can't get to the lockers unless you move the carts. Yourself. Little things like this add up. read more

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for business. It's located in downtown across from the McCormick Place with a bridge that connects the 2 buildings. Even though they are next to each other, expect yourself to walk 20-25 minutes from one place to the other. Pros: Pretty good location as there's a starbucks located in the lobby and a few restaurants/bars next door. Service was good for the most part. Only knock is the lady who checked us in didn't acknowledge our Hilton Honors status. Hotel felt clean and spacious. Bed was comfortable. Good night's sleep. Cons: Besides the check-in process, the only other thing I can mention is the security at night time can be beefed up. There was a transient walking around the street in front and was border line harassing us and others. During the day, security was present but I didn't notice any at night. This hotel is not cheap and you are paying for the location but if you have the budget for it, I would recommend staying here. read more

This is a hotel opened about 3 years ago so everything feels new. There are 3 Hilton brands in the same building so need to pay attention to which elevator to go up as keys needed for reaching guest room floors and won't work if you are in the wrong one. Corner room 1234 is really nice. Not very big but enough for two. Good views to downtown and west. Firm bed with good pillows and bedding. Room decor has pleasant modern neutral tones. Big bright lobby with lots of seating and nice fire place. Spacious breakfast room with high and low tables on second floor. Very good common areas, great for meeting with friends. Pool very small however, just a soaking pool. Clean laundry room. Breakfast ok with some hot food - turkey sausage a bit dry, ok eggs and good potatoes. Oatmeal is cooked in a pot - would be better to have individual packets. Location near metro but a long walk to downtown. A lot of street noise from the street below at night - cars gunning their engines and playing music really loud when going by - a trade off for downtown views. Parking is valet only ($59) or use public lot behind the hotel (was told it's by the hour or $42 per 24 hours with no in/out privileges).u read more

Went for NRA Show, we're on 18th floor, heard night club violence all night for 3 nights, onec included police activity from gun shots. Could not sleep until parties went down at 2 am. Left phone charger, called several times, no one answers phones, eventually I'm told go to lost my stuff dot com. Spent 4k, zero service and hospitality, just a bed and a shower for 3 night. I'm having a hard time understanding who's the leadership here, if any. read more

BED BUGS AND THEY DON'T CARE I was greeted on my first night at the hotel with being viciously bitten by bed bugs. I didn't know what was going on. I felt my body becoming inflamed and itching all over at 2am in the morning (having checked in late). I thought was having an allergic attack to something and asked the hotel where the nearest ER was. When I showed the lady at the front desk she suggested I switch rooms. I was wondering how that would alleviate what I thought was an allergic reaction. She obviously had a better idea of what's going on. In any case I got the hospital info and agreed to change rooms thinking maybe it's the detergent on the bedsheets or something. Upon returning to my room to gather my things I pulled back the sheets and discovered these rather large bugs scurrying around. My first reaction was relief that I wasn't about to go into anaphylactic shock and informed the front desk that there are bugs in my bed. I took some photos and videos of the bugs and of the bites on my body and also trapped one of the bugs in a ice bucket to show the hotel. This is when the nightmare escalated. They started using words like "it appears to be", "it may be", "it seems to be", to describe the bed bug bites. Even with the manager on duty the next day holding one in his hand in the bucket. The next 3 days were more "we need to do our investigation", "we have no authority", and basically making me feel like I've made up a story. This policy obviously is dictated from above since the managers on duty all indicated that they have no authority to make make a decision to validate my pain and suffering, offer a apology and some form of satisfaction. Before you spend a $1000 or more on this hotel or it seems any Hilton property think twice and if you are there check your beds carefully before settling in because not only the bugs but the Hotel will make you feel as bad as the bed bugs themselves. read more

Booked a room on a Monday-Sunday for a wedding. The hotel is in a pretty nice location very close to public transport. It is about 4 blocks from the Green line and 6 blocks from the red line. Lots of good food around that area including hot pot, pizza, bunch areas and a nice park which is all within walking distance. My check-in process with very easy and smooth. The service was excellent throughout my stay. I did call a few weeks before to change my room from a King bed to two queens and my room didn't get changed when I arrived but the lady in the front desk was really nice and changed it for me. I was lucky enough to get a corner room which had two windows! However, the room itself wasn't that great. The AC definitely wasn't strong enough and even on the highest setting wouldn't get below 75F even with all of the curtains closed to block out the sun. Also the water wouldn't drain from the sink. The bed sheets were also a bit warn. The hotel does come with complimentary breakfast which was very good! It goes until 10AM every day and I was really impressed. There is coffee 24/7. Pros: Excellent location with close public transport, friendly staff, complimentary breakfast, roof top bar next door, lots of food around. Con: Rooms itself are old, AC wasn't able to keep up for the hot weather, bed sheets old and worn, room was pretty small. Overall, I had a special price because I booked with the wedding party which was about $150 a night which I think was very worth it! The hotel is pretty COVID friendly with all of the staff wearing masks. The customers however is about 50/50 in the lobby which they could do better enforcing. The hotel itself is 5 stars but the star deduction is mostly for the room. read more

Travelers need to know that this hotel is horrible. It's a combo, so the front desk handles Hilton and Hampton. So what I have to say below about the customer service applies to both. In 20 years of travel, this is the worst service I've ever experienced. Traveled here for a wedding. We stayed in the room block, and we were extending our trip. Hotel said they had and understood our booking, but come Sunday morning locked us out of our room. Sean at the front desk called us with the news, then hung up on us. When we arrived at the desk, he was incredibly rude telling us there was nothing we could do. We didn't care about the room rate; we wanted a place to sleep. This asshole was trying to make it sound like a courtesy that we could have our belongings back. Unreal!!! Finally we get a manager, and we can just pay for the additional night. That's what we originally booked with months ago. That's what we wanted to do and pay for. We planned to give them more money, because we know we're staying beyond the wedding room block time period. Instead they threaten us? Choke on a glizzy, Sean. This sad excuse for a human works the front desk and doesn't know the first thing about basic decency and empathy, god forbid this douche learns actual customer service. Even if we didn't have this debacle, the hotel is complete trash. We had to change rooms because the first room was utterly disgusting. We checked in and there's water all over the floor in the bathroom plus dirt and grime and wetness all over the carpets. Many people in the wedding party also had issues with their rooms: wrong keys, occupants already in their room, dirt, etc. Finally, let's say you don't deal with Sean or a bad room, the location is complete dookie fruits. Easily spent $100+ a day on Uber/Lyft/etc. Parking is like $15/hr or $60 overnight, so renting a car isn't any better. I wanted to give this place 2 stars, because once we switched rooms the new room was fine. But after they threw us out on the street because they screwed up our reservation and wouldn't take our money ??? Like WTF. 20 years of travel. Worst experience of my life. read more

The bathroom in 1530 isn't drained. I called the front desk and she wanted to send a repairman to fix it. But I told her I want to go to sleep so the repair man should come the next day when I'm out of the hotel. She told me (with an attitude) that I should have called her immediately when I noticed the problem. I told her I was in the shower, so I couldn't notify her immediately. I did call her immediately when I got off the shower. The next day, the bathroom was still not drained properly. read more

Terrible. The hotel has potential to be a comfortable, well managed hotel but it falls short. Kudos to Anastasia for being one of the most delightful staff there at the front desk. I stayed two days. I moved rooms 3 times. Room #1 smelled like urine as soon as I walked in. Room 2 was fine until I woke up, went to shower and the water might as well have been ice water. I was going to grin and bear it. I wasn't going to be there long, I thought. I grab the ironing board, broken. I call reception at this point, I was annoyed. After 2 layers of staff trying to prevent me from speaking to the manager, I get her. I explain everything. She was very nice and I give her credit for trying. She added points to my HH account and offered me a 3rd move. Hesitantly I agreed, this is my third move in two days! She offers to check the room out before I go. I thanked her. I walk in my third room, admittedly it was spacious and had a great view. That was honestly the best part of being there. The next morning I go to shower, no body wash in the dispenser. Thankfully I had a small bottle in my luggage. That evening I took a break from working to grab tea. I was happy that there was some on the 2nd floor but no honey. I went to the desk and asked if they had any available. A guy offered to check the breakfast area, asks me to meet him there. 15 minutes later, no sign of him. I call the lobby from the hall phone, I'm told he likely has gone to my room. I say, OK, I'm pretty sure he told me to meet him on 2 but I'll wait another few minutes just in case. He never arrives. I go to my room in case he was there, nothing. I wait 15 more minutes, by then my already lukewarm tea was cold. I called reception, he answers and apologizes, he got sidetracked ans was hoing to check. OK. Let's just say, I'm back home and I'm still waiting. I knew when I checked out of that hotel, I was done. read more

Horrible horrible experience. When checking in, I asked the person at the Front desk if he had a reservation for me and gave him my name. "His response, are you asking or telling me your name!" He then asked me which hotel I was checking in and I told him the Hampton Inn. Again, his response was are you telling me or asking me". Unbelievable!!!!! Location: Diagonally across the street from the Wingate Arena, across the street from the convention center (with a skybridge connecting) and one block from the Marriott Marquis (where my meetings were). There is a shared lobby for the Hilton and two other Hilton brands, which was strange at first. This is a newer hotel - comfortable beds, tons of outlets (which I immediately noticed after hunting for outlets the last place I stayed). Not sure how many rooms were part of the Hilton Garden Inn portion of the hotel, but there are just 2 elevators serving that side of the hotel, which caused delays waiting for the elevator occasionally. I would be happy to stay here again. read more

I gave it a FIVE stars because this is a brand new hotel. Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn share the same lobby and check in counter. The staff are very nice and friendly. Hotels rooms are so clean and spacious. My room has two queen beds, separate living space with a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The breakfast is temporary on the third floor due to the construction. The quality of food is excellent, sausage and french toasts are very tasty, coffee is smooth and waffles are my favorite. If you are Hilton Gold member or above, then your breakfast is complimentary. I had few experiences with the front desk, M C. was excellent and helpful. I highly recommend this place. read more

This is one of the better hotels I have stayed at. All the staff were super friendly always asking how we were or if we needed anything. The room was clean and breakfast hot and plentiful. I am also happy it is pet friendly as our cat has medical issues and needs to travel with us. We were there for a large convention and the staff got into it dressing up and decorating the hotel. This hotel's staff is possibly the most friendly and accommodating I've ever experienced. The parking valet greeted us with a friendly smile and the staff at the check in were able to let us check in to our room at 11 AM. The room was a corner room with a great view. It was exceptionally clean and new feeling. The lunch food during the meeting was nicely prepared and tasty. Every staff member who helped us or met in the halls or elevator seemed glad we were there, and we were. Chicago hospitality at its finest. read more

I usually stay at Marriott's, but this specific hotel has definitely made me want to change that. The service at this hotel is on point. Latisha is awesome! She was extremely accommodating with our crazy schedule and check out. Our keys didn't work several times, so she escorted us to our rooms to let us in AND she came back up to personally deliver a new set to us. Now that's service and with a great smile! The rooms are hella clean and spacious. They not only have a mini fridge that works, but they also have a microwave, as well. They have many outlets and USB ports for my ten million electronic devices. There's also a full length mirror and a decent blow dryer for you ladies. The shower - now if you're anything like me, I love scoping out the shower pictures on reviews. I hate to put my feet on anything that looks disgusting. THIS has to be one of the cleanest showers I've ever seen. I stay in hotels every week, so this says a lot! Also, whoever designed this shower is a freakin genius. The shower head is on the opposite side of the shower lever / handle. This is a total game changer for sure! That means you can turn on the water and not get wet or splashed with cold a$$ water while you're waiting for that bad boy to heat up! Other perks - *Free coffee on the 3rd floor *A Starbucks in the lobby *A bridge that connects to the McCormick Place. *A pretty cool rooftop bar with igloo looking tents that make me feel like I'm in Iceland. I stayed here on the Hampton inn side for a work trip and I absolutely loved it. The staff is friendly, the rooms are super clean and new looking and it's quiet. I got a king bedroom and it was very spacious. The bathroom is huge, there is a chair that has a fold out desk piece, there is a desk with an office chair, a couch and two little ottomans you can pull out in case you need them. I was on the fence between a 3 or 4 star rating. I went for a 4 star rating because of the staff was great which made up for the minor issues. 1st off, the hotel is very nice. It's a new hotel so everything is in good condition. There are actually 3 hotels in one and when we arrived, they asked which hotel we were checking in to. Well, the lady who was helping me told me I would have to get back in line because she was having issues accessing the system for my hotel. No big deal since there really wasn't a wait. I'll just say that my 4 stars would be 5 if there weren't so many technical difficulties. From check in, to the self check hotel store kiosk not working to them checking us out early after I was told I could have late check out. Now the room was spacious but the bathroom was tiny. Perfect if you're staying by yourself but hubby and I struggled getting ready because of the tight bathroom space. Lastly, the air conditioning unit was super noisy. I took a short video of it. I can't believe a new hotel would have such a noisy unit. With all the technical issues, the staff was very attentive and willing to take care of things. I would recommend this hotel and wouldn't mind staying again minus all the minor issues. read more

I am not a fan of this chain. Bunked with a couple of friends for Star Wars Celebration in April . The bathroom door was HORRIBLE as it's a sliding door so everyone in the room can hear your Business. It didn't even close all the way so you see into the shower. The worst pillows on the planet. I had 3 and it felt like one. The free breakfast was ok but not much of a choice. read more

I just stayed for two nights and it was very nice. The bed was comfortable, everything was very clean and you could tell it was still pretty new. They let me check in way early at 10AM, which was a huge perk I am grateful of! The breakfast is an up-charge that I did not go for, but the Starbucks in the lobby is unbeatable when in town on business. The lobby area was very cozy and we spent a couple mornings having out Starbucks there. The only real negative is the lighting in the room. The switch upon entering is so dim, the best lamp is by the bed, so you have to get there to really see the room, which is fine but you'd think a switch would light up at least a bit of the room, versus only the 3ft long hallway. read more

*Please read* The room is beautiful and the staff is very professional and friendly. A nice, no frills hotel with comfortable beds for your stay in Chicago. However, I would not plan on riding the green train into the city. If you're like me, you saw it was very close by, however this is not a safe area. As a young female, I was approached by multiple men while walking to and from the subway. There was also a man vomiting onto the subway platform and acting intoxicated. Overall, loved the stay and would definitely recommend it if you plan to uber only! The loss of a star is due to location only. read more

No hot water the entire time I was there. Reported to the front desk 1st morning of cold shower and told maintenance would come. 2nd day cold shower, already knew when went to desk that numerous people said no hot water. Not the front desk person's fault, however unacceptable for a very new Hilton. Have been Hilton Diamond for years and considering looking into Marriott. Tired of Hilton's acting like they are doing you a favor not to clean the rooms. Feel like they are saving tons of money not paying Housekeeping. read more

I just stayed in the HGI while attending a conference. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was great. Location was perfect. My reason for the low rating is that on my way out, the hotel door man waved down a taxi for me and as I was getting into the taxi, I listened to him asking the taxi driver for a percentage of my fare. Literally telling the driver he needed to give him money for letting him pick up from the hotel. When did that become acceptable? To me the hard working taxi driver deserves his fare and his tip. Just something to watch out for. Very disappointing end to a good trip. read more

Room was great and the staff was friendly, stayed 4 nights. Definitely should avoid being outside after 9pm but it is downtown Chicago and close to the Southside, that's to be expected. I took off one star for each of the days housekeeping tried to enter my room with a do not disturb sign up and one for the lack of concern that I experienced upon my check out. Over all not a bad hotel. Dinner selections close by are not great and I was not made aware of the restaurant on the roof top until I checked out. read more

Had check in issues with original front desk clerk who just told us rooms wouldn't be ready until 4pm and didn't even bother to check the computer. We waited about 20 min for him to leave the check in counter and then politely asked a second clerk if we could check in and she had no problem checking the computer and saying a room was ready for us. I'm going to assume the first guy didn't know how to do this as every other hotel I've been at would do as the second lady did and check the computer to see if your room was ready. If it's not ready, totally fine. Happens fairly often. But to not even check the computer seemed weird to us. read more

I had a great experience the weekend of February 1st. I had just celebrated my Mom's milestone birthday & she elected to stay here. From the beginning when I dealt with the sales department for a block of rooms to the manager of the hotel I had a great experience. I wasn't impressed at all. I booked on booking.com, which was actually $40 less than what the hotel actually charged me. You also did not get any direction when you got there, where to go, etc. The valet parking attendants were extremely rude, Which was unfortunate due to the fact that you pay $60 extra night to park. There was also no direction in the hotel, to where any of the restaurants were, or any type of marketing for the new rooftop bar. I was disappointed. The location of the hotel is great, but the ac unit in the room was loud and did not work properly. The hotel was definitely not worth the money that I spent. read more

The room has poor lighting and only two mirrors( one in the closet so nothing with an outlet). In addition, there wasn't a lot of storage in the room and the beds were not comfortable. Staff was friendly, and the breakfast was good, just expensive. read more
