Best Chinese in upstate NY as far as I'm concerned. Noodles are made in house, not super oily, and it's fairly quick. Only thing is the space, so groups larger than 4 will be uncomfortable. read more

Holy cow, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the food we had was fantastic! I had the braised pork belly with thin noodles in broth. The flavor was so full of depth and wonderfully tasty, not over salted, perfectly cooked. My boyfriend got Singapore Meifun. He said it could have been a BIT spicier, but still managed to eat too much. Additionally, he had he fresh Vietnamese spring rolls with peanut sauce that was SOOOO fresh and awesome. I had the fried shrimp roll that was super crispy and fresh with a wonderful chili sauce for dipping. If you are in the area, I would highly recommend stopping in here. We prefer popular Chinese food, so we ordered the General's chicken and orange chicken for take out. We also tried the crab Rangoon and ordered extra steamed broccoli. Everything was cooked perfectly. The chicken was all white meat, as the menu indicated. It was soft, not over cooked or stringy! The broccoli was just right and the crab Rangoon were crispy on the outside with a round puff of filling. The service when I arrived to pick it up was fast and courteous! I definitely recommend Han's Noodle Bar. Someone else recommended it to us, and explained that their food is authentic Chinese. Go ahead and try the traditional dishes if that's your flavor. We were not sure what to expect, but were really really impressed. I cannot believe the prices - really affordable. The menu didn't really have great descriptions, but the server/cooks were very knowledgeable and full of good recommendations. Perhaps, the best Chinese food I ever had in Rochester! This place looks small on the inside, not the kind of ambiance you would want, given that is has an open kitchen, however, that does not stop me from going there. Even thought it's a small place, it is always packed with customers. I love their Curry Tofu and Curry Chicken entrees! I highly recommend you try them. They also have really good appetizer options. The service is really good and the staff is kind and welcoming. Once, I had the chef come and talk to me about how the food was and whether any changes were needed. They also offer take-outs and the price is really affordable if you are in a mood to have authentic Chinese cuisine. I really like the preparation and flavor of their dishes. Comparatively their quantity in their dishes is lighter. Ordered the Kung Po chicken - excellent dish with a great genuine flavor and perfect blend of veggies and peanuts. Only gripe would be that 25% of the dish were inedible chili peppers. This is the best Chinese food I have ever ate. My boyfriend and I always order it Friday night after work, then go home to stuff our faces and fall asleep fat and happy. Everything is always perfect, we have never had a problem. We usually get Pepper Steak and Chicken and Broccoli with sides of Steamed Pork Dumplings, but we have also had the Lo Mein, and other chicken and side dishes. The dumplings are to die for, I can't go to any other Chinese restaurant ever again because the dumplings will never compare. Everyone is always super nice too, whether I'm greeted with a smile in the restaurant or a nice tone on the phone. I hope my mom will come up from Maryland one day so she can try this place too. This place is now my favorite Chinese restaurant. You know how sometimes you go to a Chinese place and you like the food but it's mediocre at best and then your hands and feet feel like they might explode from all the sodium and msg and all around you feel like crap? Well not at the Han Noodle Bar. I've never felt better walking out of a Chinese restaurant before, and I cannot wait to go back. The service is great and you can see the chefs in the kitchen preparing the food. And everything I've ever gotten was to die for. The crab rangoon was the best I've had and the pork dumplings were small but extremely tasty. So far I've gotten the beef lo mein and the chicken lo mein, and both were heavenly. And to top it all off its very affordable. Both times I went it was around 20-30 dollars for everything, and we got appetizers. I will absolutely go back again and again because it's simply the best. read more

Han Noodle was good. We were able to reserve a table and call our order in ahead of time on a Saturday night (we went with 3 kids under the age of 5). When we arrived we were seated immediately and our appetizers were there before any mayhem could start. The portions were fair and the flavors were clean. I loved my pork and scallion, and my daughter demolished the crab rangoons. The crab rangoons were tortellini shaped, different from all the other places, so I'm thinking they are prepared fresh. I've been going to HAn for about 3 years and their food is always great. The Cumin Beef is spicy and always great and I love the slat and pepper squid. The only problem is they stopped making their best menu item which was pickled Diakon!! There was no better antedote to their spicy dishes than the crunchy sour flavor of the diakon. It was the perfect pallette cleanser between courses. The last time I ate there they said they were no longer making it and the meal was not as good. Please bring back the diakon!! read more

Coming from a fully Chinese family who owns a Chinese restaurant, it was hard for me to find a convenient and good place for Asian food. I've been here more times than I can count and have not been disappointed. I've had the duck noodle broth, lomein, Singapore meifun, beef hofen, and orange chicken and they've all been so good! The food tastes very fresh and the flavors are on point. I'm also pleasantly surprised by the customer service, the workers are all so kind and considerate. Whenever we order takeout they offer us water and they also are happy to customize the order to our taste (i.e. Add spice). Highly recommend! read more

Came here sometimes with friends or my boyfriend. It's authentic and the dishes are pretty good. The decor is a little ghetto, but if you can get past it, it's worth it. The food tastes great, with noodle soups that warm you up in winter. Inexpensive, huge portions. You can't really ask for more than that. Be warned, there's not really much of a parking lot for this restaurant. You'll most likely have to park on a side street. read more

How have I NOT reviewed this place yet? I've never actually sat down and eaten at Han Noodle. None of the restaurants on that strip of Monroe Avenue scream "ambiance" to me - they all herald a cry for take out (except for Acme and Mark's diner where I've shamelessly been unable to bridle my sit-down enthusiasm for beer-pizza-late-night-junk food). So I cannot comment on the service at Han. However, the take out service has always been prompt and friendly. The prices are very reasonable and the choices are more traditional - similar to street carts in Asia, which is great - than the typical American Chinese place. As we've spoken about, the pork belly buns hold a cherished place in my humble palate and very few single dishes in Rochester come close to creating that kind of happiness for me. I had a couple of them again last night and was relishing in their garlicky-sweet-crunchy-gooey-fatty-sticky brilliance. I've had buns like these before, but not in the United States. Not even in NYC or San Francisco. As for the rest of the menu, go with the stuff under "House Specials" as opposed to "Popular Chinese." The pork belly over preserved tunip is fabulous. I love the Mapo Tofu. The duck rice place and soy sauce chicken rice plates are delicious steals at $6 each! And my favorite childhood dish - crispy pan fried noodles. My husband and I went to Han Noodle Bar last week for the first time. We both had the Pan Fried Noodles with Pork, Chicken, and Shrimp. It was excellent! We both really loved it! This was my first experience with fried noodles ...what a delight! I especially loved the Chinese Five Spice in the broth; it seemed to give the broth layers of wonderful flavor. The dinner had just the right amount of noodles, vegetables and meat. We even had plenty of left overs for lunch the next day. You need to, and I mean NEED to, try the braised pork belly buns, it is so good! Its like ippudo ramen bar's version in Rochester (and if you've been to nyc everyone raves about ippudo)!
