My office is across the street. I go here a couple of times a week for lunch. It's basic but very tasty. It's consistently consistent. The "Mini" size is enough for most normal people. Tried the chicken teriyaki bowl (grilled chicken over sticky rice with broccoli and cabbage). My son tried to tell me the "mini" bowl would be sufficient, but I was hungry and insisted on the "medium" size. (He was right.) Really liked the sriracha mayo and assorted sauces. We arrived in Santa Barbara late on a Friday evening and looked for restaurants open. Since the downtown scene is still active late we decided to try Hana's. The menu is simple but perfect. I ordered the teriyaki vegan mini bowl and both vegan tacos options to try while my husband got the same with beef and chicken. Their serving sizes are huge for the price! Their teriyaki sauce was perfect since it wasn't too thick or overly sweet but instead was light yet flavorful. The soy chicken was so similar to the actual chicken that we had to really look to see which was which! We ordered it to-go to enjoy at our hotel and the food held up for the remainder of the ride. Another night of not being in the mood to cook, I came across Hana Kitchen in the app. What really caught my attention was the Taco Tuesday menu. $1.50 tacos, you said? I'll take some. The Spicy Sweet & Sour Chicken & Vegan Teriyaki Mango tacos were super delicious, although they were a bit heavy on the sauce. I'm not complaining, considering my food arrived faster than expected. I used to love Hana kitchen. But as of recently they must have changed their chicken quality. Now every other bite I have a hard piece of cartilage in my mouth. It's cheap, easy, filling, and overall pretty good. The small size is big enough to feed a large, hungry man and for $5, you can't beat that. However, because of the low prices, it shouldn't be a surprise to find little shards of bone and chewy bits in the meat. read more

Hana Kitchen is awesome! The food is pretty simple, really delicious, and a great place to eat on a budget. It's not always quick if there's a lunch rush, but the staff are always working hard to get the customers in and out. Portion sizes are huge as well. First time I ate there, I ordered a regular chicken bowl for about $8. It turned out to be 2 full meals and I'm a 250lb corn-fed male. Since then, I just go with the mini chicken or beef bowls and they're the perfect lunch for around $5. read more

Terrible terrible. The last 4 times I've received food from this place my order has been messed up and over charged for food and drinks I didn't receive. I called to talk to manager and was hung up on. Then I called back and someone else answered. Asked to speak to a manager and was told he wasn't there. Asked for a supervisor and there wasn't one. Then said " you don't have anyone there I can talk to about my order messed up and missing drinks?" Was told no. Was told that the manager will be in on Monday!!!! Really???? So paid $38 for drinks I didn't receive and food I'm not going to eat! Oh and don't let them blame the driving services like they tried doing on my last order. My daughter went and picked that one up and still managed to get all 3 meals wrong and and was overcharged for the bowls I didn't get. I've gave this place 4 chances over the past 6months. Let me start this review by saying, I love to chill on Sundays. I think everyone in SB does, the whole town usually seems pretty relaxed on this great day. I worked on this particular Sunday, but it was chill and went by pretty quick. When I got off work I was hungry as hell but in high spirits. The first spot that popped in my mind was Hana Kitchen, I go here all the time, it's cheap and the food is bomb. But damn, some dork who I assume is the owner?? Idk, he looked like a sack of potatoes wearing glasses, a hat, and some uglyass wannabe affliction shirt (like it's 2009 or something straight up). This weirdo completely killed the vibe! HEAVY. Aww here it goes... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ When I first got there everyone was happy and friendly and chatting; the customers, the employees, everyone. Sunday chill was in full effect. The person working the front counter was nice, and I had to compliment his Super Cucas shirt! Cucas is my favorite Mexican food in SB, seriously everyone loves it, so the fact that the person working at Hana was wearing a Cucas shirt was cool. It made Hana seem cooler tbh. Anyway, I ordered, and the food came out quick, quicker than usual even. Also it tasted better than usual! The crispiness of the meat was on point. Wow what a great afternoon. And then...without any warning... a manchild came in to ruin everyone's day! I've worked all kinds of jobs, everything from customer service, to office jobs, education, agriculture, food service, non-profits. Lots of different jobs, lots of different vibes. I've never seen anyone verbally abuse employees like this Hana nerd did! His personal life must be in a horrible place (can't imagine anyone wanting to be near him), or maybe he's just insecure, dude was yelling at everyone for everything! He walked in and within seconds started wylin out! It was awkward as hell and really weird. It was like watching a giant potato have a tantrum. He yelled at someone for the meat being too crispy (it was better than ever), he yelled at someone about the amount of forks that were stocked (I had just gotten one, there were plenty, it was full), he even yelled at the person wearing the Cucas shirt for wearing the Cucas shirt! That was the last straw for me. I used to go here all the time but today that ends. I'm boycotting Hana Kitchen and telling all my friends (not tryna brag but I have a lot) that they should boycott Hana too. I suggest that you, the reader, also boycott Hana Kitchen. The world is a terrible place, and people like the owner of Hana make it worse. It's up to all of the workers of the world to unite and take a stand against verbally abusive employers. I'm a huge HK fan. The food is incredible and you get lots of food, great bang for your buck. I get a mini chicken bowl with extra veggies for $5 and it's always enough for leftover the next day! Boba is good here too, personally I find their milk tea to be a little too sweet. 4/5 stars only because it's a bit of a dive location - not much seating and it's tiny. Really great value for the money. My favorite is the chick regular, which gives you a great portion of chicken, rice, vegetables, and a delicious teriyaki sauce on top. The boba is great too. I've tried the mango slushi option but I think my favorite is the milk tea with boba, their most popular. All the staff is friendly. A lot of young guys who are making their way. It's a new restaurant so it's especially popular in the area. I see people from Sonos in line. It's all very fresh food. Careful though!
