It's nothing fancy, but it's definitely solid and the service is fast enough to where I can get in and out during a half-hour lunch. Went to Hanabi for dinner once and was not terribly impressed: the food was good, but the overall ambience is one of a roadside diner. On another occasion tried it for lunch and it was really good, the best bento box I had in the Bay Area. Yes, it is also much more expensive at $19+. The next two times we were diassapponted with mushy frozen fish, poorly cut and poorly paired with other flavors. The chirashi bowl has raw garlic added in! Wtf nobody serves raw garlic in a dish! I've now been to this location twice and feel that I can give a well-informed review. The service both times was phenomenal. One of the most pleasant parts of the meal was being warmly welcomed into the restaurant and fussed over throughout the meal. A solid A+ there. As for the food itself, I have had almost all of the special rolls. Though the amount of food on each plate is substantial, I feel that the quality of the fish is less than ideal. While this restaurant is solidly in the midrange in terms of pricing for sushi restaurants, in terms of quality the food is overpriced. Though I found some of the rolls to be quite tasty (Red Dragon and 911 stand out), many of the rolls had no depth in terms of flavor, partially due to the quality of the fish, but also the combinations of ingredients themselves. The location of the restaurant is quite convenient but this place is overall a pretty average sushi restaurant. read more

Sushi here is good and consistantly good too at that. I have never had anything but the sushi and a few of the appitizers so I can't review all that. Overall solid Sushi for Mt. View. The location isn't exotic but the food inside makes this place worth eating at. It is near my office so we eat here @ once a month. This place is pretty legit. I've never been disappointed other than with their salad, which tends to come drenched in dressing. But I've learned to ask for it with light dressing and it's perfect. Went there last Sunday with the family. It was run by Koreans. We ordered the 'Special' bento box dinner. When it came we were so disappointed, each bento box got 4 pieces of grilled veggies, 2 pieces of beef, a small portion of the main dish, and 2 slices of oranges. We did get salad and miso soup with the bento box. But boy, it wasn't special like we thought. And....when the waitress was cleaning the table behind us after the customers left, she ate their leftover sushi! Now that is just gross. Never going back. read more

We've been coming to this place for years! Sometimes twice a month and we normally spend almost $150 every time. We are a family of 5, normally there's. Nice gentleman with glasses that serves us and knows us well. Today 2 women serves us and upon receiving the receipt we noticed they added their own tip of $25.00 .. I was already going to give them a $22 tip since we bought her $142 worth of food, but we did not appreciate how they added their own tip when all they did was really refill our water and we even helped them give out the plates. My husband asked why they added their own tip and the lady said its because we have more than 5 people . I still did he right thing and gave them their tip but morally they just blew us off.. It's just too bad because we really liked this place and these women just messed up the whole thing for us! What a disappointment for amount of money I spent here. Hanabi sushi is one of my favorite sushi restaurant of all the time. It is nice and calm, good for many number of people to small number. They usually always have Toro ( fatty tuna) which is really bomb. One of my favorite roll of all the time, Alaskan Philly (a phily roll with smoked salmon). I was informed that they have their own salmon smoker which makes the smoked salmon really freaking good. I just love that roll... MUST TRY. Their nigiris comes with large sushi which is the most amazing thing you could ask for nigiri. I'll come back again for sure, without doubt. read more

I hardly ever post a review, but the public needs to know. I ordered the $16.95(!) Combination Bento box with salmon and vegetables. The salmon was the size of my thumb. This is a good neighborhood sushi place. The sushi good quality and there is a big selection of different choices. The seaweed salad is delicious! There is also a roll with seaweed salad on top wich is delicious too. Usually at sushi restaurants I go straight to the rolls and ignore the rest of the menu. One day my husband and I were feeling adventurous and ordered the poki tuna salad- boy am I glad we did! It is soooo good! I will definitely be ordering it again. I love this place. I live about 2 miles away and I order sushi over the phone off of their online menu and go to pick it up and bring it back. It's always ready on time and the reason I come back is they make extremely good sushi at reasonable price. I only order sushi so I can't speak for other menu items but the california rolls, hamachi rolls, 49er roll, rainbow roll are all amazing. Ordered take out. Proceeded to tell me that I need to pay cash because my order was $10. Their register has Visa/MasterCard logos right on them. Then a man, who had to be about 75, walked in and used the restroom. On the way out both the male and female at the register proceeded to berate him and tell him he had to order something since he used the restroom. I get it, the restroom is for "customers only", but there was no need to be rude to this man. Got food home and literally the worst sushi I have ever had. The Spicy Tuna roll was canned tuna mixed with some spicy sauce. It looked like cat food. Terrible food, terrible customer service. read more
