We happened upon Hanalei Poke after hiking in Nā Pali Coast State Wilderness Park and were encouraged by the small crowd of people eating and waiting to order. As a Southern California resident, this was the best poke I've had. We did not eat poke elsewhere on the island and desperately wished to return to Hanalei Poke, but could not make it happen. But that's exactly what I felt after getting lunch at this place. At the time It took a bit of time to prepare the lunch but there were quite a bit of lunchgoers at this joint that perhaps they run out of avocados on my turn. Haena haze runs $17 + tip and is literally the smallest portioned poke I have seen in my life. Be prepared to pay. Don't go if you are super hungry. Our family stopped by this truck to grab some quick poke. After seeing reviews on this place we understood the lines would be really long. Hardly any seating and wait times to serve are very long as well. The food itself was fresh but small portioned. I'm usually a quality over quantity kind of guy but my Haena Haze bowl was nothing more than an appetizer. But given the circumstances I would have still given a 4 star rating since it's a typical food truck in the area. However I'm giving a poor rating because we weren't given our change back after paying in cash. Mind you it is cash only and they do not accept cards. By the time we finally got our food and took it to go we realized that they promptly shut the window on us after receiving our food and took our extra 15 dollar change. Maybe they had a busy day. Perhaps they realized after the fact. But this experience alone urged me to make this review. TL;DR Fair warning to those who come here as you'll have to wait a long time for your food, eat small poke portions, pay only in cash, and be extra careful of getting your change back. Our poke was above average, but it wasnt worth waiting over 45 minutes and losing our $15 change. read more

Hanalei Poke is a food truck right outside of Big Save. The menu is pretty straightforward with the option between a poke bowl or poke salad, but the customization is almost endless. Either pick from the options on the menu or create your own bowl. There are plenty of sauces and toppings to choose from, and the fish is fresh. The end result is delicious poke in a decent portion size - half a pound of fish with either rice or salad. The price is decent too - starting from $12 though the toppings incur add-on charges. The price does seem high, but it is not too bad considering the price of food in the area. This food truck is open seven days a week, but come sooner rather than later as they close whenever they run out of food. Make sure to bring cash unless you want to withdraw money from the ATM machine in Big Save. Enjoy your poke outside at one of the tables and benches, or take it to-go. read more

The poke bowl was $15 and was an okay amount of food. I was full but I'm not sure if another larger and hungrier person would feel the same. The poke itself was only alright. Maybe I should've gotten one of the more popular items because I was kind of disappointed with mine. The fish itself was fresh but the poke didn't have much flavor and the flavors it did have were a bit strange. $15 for a poke bowl is also a bit steep, especially when there are so many options nearby.
