The food at Hanami Sushi is always consistent and tasty! Over COVID, my family has eaten here about 5 times as we crave Japanese food and sushi A LOT! Each time, the food hits the spot and the portions are so big that you'll always have food leftover for the next day! We dined in as restrictions are easing up, and the service and food was even better. The owner was very attentive to us and also started talking to us, we mentioned that we love coming her because it fulfilled our Japanese food cravings over COVID, and she was very grateful and striked up a conversation with us. My family and I usually get the dinner combo with 2 items (comes with rice, salad, and miso soup) and 1 roll (usually the Dragon Roll) which always hits the spot. The fish is fresh and they give you a good portion considering the price you are paying. This is a fusion sushi restaurant with a kick. 1) Location: Well locates in a business plaza that provide lots of parking place for customers. Easy access to freeway and very easy to find. 2) Quality and Food: I will day the quality of the raw fishes ingredients will be 6 out of 10. The taste of the raw fish is about 5.5 out of 10. Some sashimi were not tasted right and might have been in the refrigerator to long. 3) Server: Great Service, and great happy Server. They are quick on attending our needs. Hanami is one of my favorite sushi places! My parents have been taking me here since I was in grade school and we've become regulars over the years. The owner is very personable and friendly and the quality of the sushi has stayed consistent over the years. The ambiance of the restaurant is quiet and calming. Every time I visit my home town, I make it a point to come to Hanami! Recommend the Hawaiian roll, Rainbow roll, and Alaskan roll. One older guy just stared at me like I was one more person to add to his list of things to do. The older Asian lady well...seemed like she was also tired but contrived enough convo to just get things done. The other waitress is Caucasian, young adult and she offered decent hospitality. Food was boring. No effort in taste or presentation. I expect more hospitality and flavor from a Japanese restaurant . This is not a place I'd return to or take out of town guests to. For the last two years this was my birthday dinner of choice. Not because I like Sushi, but I LOVE the Curry Pork Cutlet. It's sooooo good! (I save a bit for lunch the next day) I would give 5 stars with the exception of one thing. Our food came out at different times. Like 15 minutes apart. That really needs improvement. Ok. Tried this joint out twice. Dined in, and second time ordered to go. When we had dined in, we had called in to make reservations, they said it was not a problem. Warning, if your looking for a place to get hyphy this is not it. They weren't kidding when they said reservations not necessary. It was dead! One other couple there. I didn't mind at all. I was hungry and in some cases this is considered a plus. So if your looking for some place quiet and intimate, this is the place! We got greeted and seated right when we walked in the door. Great service and food came fast! Now coming from San Jose and being the foodie I am, this place had a lot of competition and comparison. Sushi was pretty good. I use to love this place but unfortunately I will not be returning here. I placed an online order at 4:50pm and was told my order would be ready in 30 minutes. I showed up at 5:30pm and was told my food was not ready and it would be just a few minutes. 15 minutes later, and many passings by me without a word I ask for a status and am told 5 more minutes. I have a family to feed including a small child waiting at home, and I decided to just leave. They showed no courtesy or regard for me so why should I do that for them? I went to Taco Bell and was home eating with my family when they call at 6:05pm leaving me a message that my food was ready. Why would I drop $100 on food with that terrible of service?! No...absolutely ridiculous. Unfortunately, that was not the first time that happened to me there. It happened about 2 years ago and the owner chased me out to my car with beer and asked me to stay and she would discount my next order (which she never did). Wonderful restaurant! Such friendly staff every single time we have eaten there which is about once a week. They have lunch and dinner specials but with or without it their whole menu is reasonably priced for the quality of their food. Their sushi has always tasted delicious and most importantly fresh. Their service is super fast. Once you order the rolls come out in minutes. We have always gotten our order within 10 minutes of ordering. I haven't really found another sushi restaurant better than this one in Morgan Hill that was actually priced well and tasted great. I love coming to Hanami when I am visiting my friends and family in Morgan Hill. Janet is the owner and she is so kind and wonderful, and really takes the time to make sure that everyone is getting the best experience possible. The service does get slow on busy weekend nights, but that is to be expected when the place is so packed! Your best bet if you are looking for a quick meal is to come at lunch time or on a week night. The best appetizers I love to get are the jalapeño poppers, the salmon skin handroll, miso soup, and mixed tempura. For rolls, my favorites are caterpillar roll, dragon roll, golden CA roll, crunch roll and rainbow roll. the rolls are always so fresh and carefully made, and there is always a good balance of rice to sushi, which is often what I find many other plaes haven't gotten down very well. What an amazing, no nonsense, Japanese/sushi restaurant in Morgan Hill!  I love this place so much that I stopped going anywhere else in town for sushi a long time ago.  I have NEVER had a bad meal here, which I can't say for the other sushi places in town.  The other places aren't exactly that bad, but in my experience, they have had a high rate of inconsistency (bad/near spoiled food/service) even for the handful of times I've been to each of them.  Not Hanami though!  Especially if you love perfectly seared salmon skin!  OMG, I'm salivating just thinking about their salmon skin handrolls!  They are truly perfect in every way in my honest opinion.  No BS sauce, or any other extra "fluff" ingredients for that matter, just pure crunchy salmon skin perfection, every... single... time...!  And if you really love salmon skin, go for the salad, it's piled ridiculously high with crispy skin (they are not stingy by any means)!  Did I mention I like salmon skin? ;) Though I will warn anyone who is in a rush, they are NOT the speediest sushi place, that's for sure.  But if you have time to kill, the service has always been super friendly, and the food has always been good or better (and I go out for sushi a lot all over the bay area). read more

I asked for a side of unagi when ordering and when showing up she refused to give it to me- she went as far as asking me to return the teeny tiny container of soy sauce. One of my favorite Japanese restaurants in the South Bay! Some of my gotta have dishes every time I visit are: Salmon Skin Hand Roll, Poki Salad, Chirashi Bowl & the Hawaiian Roll. They stuff their Salmon Skin Hand Roll with delicious, crunchy salmon skin plus chunks of salmon which make this hand roll the best I've had! Their generous servings and delicious dressing make the Poki Salad a fresh, light choice. I've ordered the Chirashi Bowl (mixed sushi over seasoned rice) at many restaurants and Hanami Sushi gets it just right! They top the seasoned rice with an assortment of raw and cooked fish, egg, cucumbers and shiitake mushrooms. One of my favorite rolls is the Hawaiian Roll. It contains Unagi and fresh basil. The basil and macadamia nut topping is what makes this roll both unique and delicious! Along with the great food, the owner, Janet, always greets her customers with a wonderful and familiar warmth. Came here after hiking at Uvas. We were all definitely hungry. The owner-lady was nice enough to let us eat there even though they were supposed to close at 2pm, and she didn't rush us either. This restaurant is super clean! I ordered the lunch bent box B - salmon teriyaki. I was not very full by the end of my meal. Luckily we ordered some rolls so that filled me up. This restaurant is located in a nondescript strip mall. The deco is functional and clean. however their forte is in their food and service. Janet run a tight and efficient shift. She seemed to know all her customers by name and even those she does't know, she will treat them like regulars. Their sushi seemed to be fresh even on Mondays! My GF ordered the Chirashi and it came loaded with fresh fish and more than enough yummy rice that she had enough for dinner and lunch the next day! I ordered their Nabayaki udon and it came piping hot, just the way I like it, and it was as good as I've had.
