I stopped by after hiking Koko Head and enjoyed my poke bowl! I got a poke bowl with Spicy Mayo Salmon and Hawaiian Tuna. It was a pretty good portion of fish, and the chunks were huge. Everything was a bit salty. Also, I found the rice to be a bit hard and clumpy. I tried a bite of my friend's shoyu tuna, and it was delicious! I would definitely get that instead of the Hawaiian the next time I visit. The seating inside was limited, but we managed to get a table for six since no one was eating inside when we arrived. I had been to this place a couple times before, as it's very close to my residence, however I'm just getting around to writing my review now after ordering take out for dinner last night. I was craving poke and we're fortunate to have HanaPa'a Market, Ono Seafood and even Foodland Market for good poke options in the area. They're located in the Koko Marina Center, closer to the Kona Brewing side versus the Zippy's side. Plenty of free parking is available in the shared lot. This is a small take-out type of place, although they do have several tables inside. I ordered my food online via their website, and it was ready upon my arrival. I ordered the Mixed Protein Bowl for $17.50. You can mix and match any 2 proteins and any flavor of your choice. I selected the Ahi Hawaiian and Salmon Shoyu for my proteins, and chose my base as 1/2 salad & 1/2 sushi rice for a $3 upgrade. I really wanted all salad but that was a $4 upgrade, which I feel is too pricey. Most poke places allow you to swap salad for rice at no extra charge, thus the 4 stars instead of 5. When I arrived to pick up my bowl, I was greeted by the sweetest boy behind the counter who smiled brightly and gave me my order. He gave me an extra salad dressing per my request at no extra cost and offered me a free bag. 5 stars based on his service alone! When I got home and dug into my bowl, I was pleasantly surprised at the overall taste. First of all, I was glad I got the 1/2 sushi rice as it went really well with the poke, even though I didn't eat a lot of the rice. The salad was great with the shoyu dressing (they also have a miso dressing). But the clear winner was the Ahi Hawaiian with onions & Hawaiian salt. Wow! On previous visits, I've ordered the Cali-Crunch Bowl and the Misoyaki Salmon Plate. Both were equally delicious! I will definitely return and work my way through the rest of the menu! read more

One of the absolute BEST poke bowls I've EVER had! This place is unassuming from first glance and tucked away in a plaza. Buttt, this is the stop along the highway EVERYONE needs to make. The food was so fresh and delicious! I loved that with bowl was so simple, but packed with flavor. For the protein, I chose half spicy ahi and half spicy salmon, and I highly recommend this option for those who like a nice, flavorful kick! Super awesome place. It's a small restaurant with really fresh poke. I wasn't sure what flavors to get and was struggling with picking between two. The nice cashier girl asked me if I wanted to do half and half. And I'm glad I did. I got the Hawaiian style and half spicy mayo. I loved that they had sushi rice and the furekake was good, but a little on the salter side, but it was really good with the perfect bite of fish, rice and flavors mixed in. it was busy but they were quick. I was happy that I could get two different kinds of protein with two different flavors! The fish was a very good portion and the flavors were yummy! After an early morning hike to the lighthouse, we ended up grabbing brunch at Hana'Pa Market right when they opened. Their menu has something for everyone, even if you're not into raw fish. Build your own poke bowl ($17.50+): I built my own bowl with ahi tuna and salmon garlic chili crisp, spicy aioli, furikake and onions. Super good and filling. Proteins were fresh. Poke Bento ($22): Just as good. Larger portion than the poke bowl. Would recommend if you've got a big appetite or sharing. Chicken Teriyaki Plate ($17): Good but salty. The chicken was marinated well...but a tad salty for us. There's two tables and some counter seats for a quick bite but I see most people ordering takeout. The first meal back home after two years and it was *chefs kiss*. My brother got their Hawaiian style salmon poke bowl and I got the two poke choices with imitation crab salad, kalua pork, pickled veggies and rice. Insanely good and super fresh. The girl behind the counter today was very helpful and friendly and definitely just embodied aloha and made me happy to be around great people again. The shop is small but mighty! A great place to stop by after a nice hike. We arrived around noon on 4th of July and it was packed. There was a line and we waited about 15-20 min for the food. The cashier was very nice and she informed us about the wait, we didn't mind. We placed our order and waited outside as there's nowhere to stand inside, periodically checking in if our food was ready. With our order of pickled ogo, pickled garlic, 1/2 lb salmon poke, Cali crunch bowl, Ahi Fever plate, and a Powerade, our total was $80. Once we got our food, we found a table outside to enjoy our lunch. The pickled ogo and pickled garlic are local favs. Absolutely delicious. For poke, salmon is always my go-to. I love that they have options to select the sauce for your poke. The cashier recommended the spicy mayo and it was a great choice. For the bowl, it was a nice rice to poke ratio. For the plate, it was a lot of variations of ahi. I really enjoyed the seared ahi and ahi poke. The ahi fishcake was different, it was good but I was not used to the texture. They are located in Hawaii Kai at the koko marina shopping center. Right next to Jamba Juice. The old paina cafe I got the ahi fever and WOW! So so so good! They pack the plate. It comes with seared ahi, spicy ahi poke and a fishcake patty. They also have salad, kimchee, potato salad and ginger. The plate is HUGE! Haha it was $25 and it's fresh poke!!! At the recommendation of our Birding Guide, Mandy, we stopped in for lunch, and we were grateful. I opted for building a Poke bowl as it was the first one (and I will now say the best) poke bowl in HI. My combination was White Rice, Ahi Tuna, Hawaiian Seasoning, Tempura Puffs, Furikake, but I tell you, if I lived in the area, I would work my way down the whole menu, because dang... it all looked great. My auntie had the spicy mayo shrimp, and oh yeah, the heat is honest and good. Portions were almost too much for each of us to handle. A lesson I would learn a few times over, further along the trip. Everyone was incredibly friendly, and the vibe was good and relaxing. Don't think this place is that new but it was new to us! We went for the first time lasts week and we loved it. Shout out to the super nice workers there, from the cashier to the guys in the back preparing the food everyone was so nice! We got two poke bowls and a slushy I believe it was POG flavored. So good! Delicious and big portions! Located in the Koko Marina Shopping Center, a great local poke option! They have seats and A/C inside which was amazing on the hot day. Their poke bowls come with pickled vegetables that add a nice acidity to the sweet and salty sauce. I love natto, so I got the Shoyu Natto Ahi Poke bowl and my friend built his own with ahi poke and chili oil for the sauce. I loved both of our bowls, but the umami in the chili oil on the ahi poke was phenomenal! I can't wait to go again when I'm in Hawaii Kai. read more

Located right in the KoKo Marina Center--and conveniently close to the Leonard's Bakery truck--it was the perfect stop before our day of snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. It was my first time trying HanaPa'a so I got the spicy ahi bowl with sushi rice because that order is always a safe bet but I was sadly really disappointed. The fish itself was ok, they're cut in pretty big chunks and some pieces were chewy while some were soft. The flavor of the sauce itself was heavily lacking, it didn't have much flavor. The onions were also cut really oddly, some pieces were really small and thin while others were sliced thick and huge. The sushi rice was cold and hard and the bowl comes with namasu (picked vegetables) but mine smelled and tasted like it was spoiling or already spoiled. With that said, the service was fast and they were nice but in my opinion, the inconsistent quality and lack of flavor doesn't equate to the $19 price tag read more

I had no expectations of this place after stopping in for some grub after a snorkel, and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and selection was pretty varied. I ended up with the salmon plate lunch which runs about 22.50$ and you are able to pick two sauces for your protein. I was in Hawaii Kai wanted to try something that is in the area. I saw this places and the poke looks food on yelp. I have ordered the ahi for my protein and Hawaiian for my flavor that is sushi rice and nori . Thinking that nothing can go wrong with order. The cashier was so nice and helps me out how to ready the menu a bit. When I got the food looks so nice and I didn't know that there was side and the sides was seaweed and yellow cucumber something different. Looking at the poke and tasting it , it seems like fresh poke like they catch it on that say but after eating a little bit more. I notice that the food is becoming salty and i didn't have water. Got the misoyaki salmon and poke bowl. Loved the portions they gave. The salmon plate definitely filled me up as they gave two big pieces of salmon. The salmon exploded with flavor in my mouth as if I ate it at an authentic japanese restaurant. The mac salad tastes home made with potatoes inside and the salad was fresh and light. 5 stars based mainly on the 3 items I have repeatedly ordered: misoyaki salmon, ahi fever (seared furikake ahi, spicy ahi poke, and ahi fishcake with a bunch of sides), and calamansi slush. The misoyaki salmon is always cooked perfectly; the ahi fever is so much food and it's all tasty; and the calamansi slush - add the li hing mui powder btw - is so refreshing. Came here since I was craving a poke bowl and my usual go-to poke places were closed today. Reading the reviews, I was super excited to try :) Since it was my first time, I opted for a 2-choice bowl with spicy ahi and shoyu ahi poke with white rice. I also saw they had plantation iced tea (my favorite!) in the fridge so I grabbed one too. The bowl and drink together came out to a little over $22. Upon getting my bowl, I realized my rice was piping hot so I immediately sat in my car to eat it (plus I was starving lol). I opened my bowl and was a little dismayed at how little poke there actually was. The poke was loaded with huge pieces of onion, and the bowl came with takuan and namasu. While I appreciated the takuan and namasu, I wasn't a fan of all the onion - I felt like it was being used as a filler to help make the poke portion look more generous than it is, and instead of a poke bowl, I felt like I was eating an onion bowl lol The poke, however, had great flavor and the fish was fresh - no stringy pieces :) that was a major plus Another plus was the young lady at the counter was very friendly and the service was quick. As for my plantation iced tea, it unfortunately also disappointed as it had a really weird taste ... not at all like a plantation iced tea. So - would I come back? Maybe to try out other poke dishes since the fish is fresh. However, for the price and quantity given, I think I'll be sticking to my other favorite poke places since it's just as fresh and I feel like I get more bang for my buck. Absolute gem located in the Koko Marina Shopping Center, how did I not find this place sooner!?!?  The food here is really good! On my visit here, I called in an order of Misoyaki Salmon, Ahi Fever (contains seared furikake ahi with wasabi aioli, spicy ahi poke, and an ahi patty), and a quarter pound of shoyu tako poke.  I also added on a calamansi slushy with li hing powder which was ambrosial!  I highly recommend this icy beverage.  My favorite food item was the seared ahi.  It tasted fresh, was cooked perfectly, and the wasabi aioli was the perfect touch of sophisticated scrumptiousness. The miso salmon was also extremely palatable. I plan to make this place a go-to when I am playing tourist at Hanauma Bay or torturing myself on the stairs of doom. read more

Picked up takeout from the HanaPa'a Market and perhaps it's better to eat in restaurant than bring home to eat. The rave reviews were so promising perhaps my expectations were also too high. The food was good, however I'd rather get my poke from Off the Hook in Manoa. - misoyaki salmon plate - 4/5, two smallish slim pieces of salmon on top of rice, could have benefited from larger pieces of thicker salmon - poke bowl - 4/5, good, but not great (see Off the Hook review) - poke bento - 3/5, this was where things got weird. The combination of hot items (Kalua pig, rice) and cold things (poke, cucumber salad) in the same to go box was not that appealing. The cold things got mixed with the hot and vice versa. Individually, once we separated the kalua pig and rice from the poke and salad, it was better, but again, maybe this is where eating in would have been a better experience. read more

The girl working the front today (11/10/25) at around 4pm- was absolutely fantastic! Her customer service was exceptional! She was very cheerful, very helpful and so kind to myself and my daughter. I heard how she interacted with other customers too and had to give her a shout out on yelp because service lately at other establishments with girls that look to be the same age as her have not been as friendly and welcoming as she was. Our food was great too! Very fresh and tasty. But great job to the cashier! Keep it up!
