They are very nice and personable crew, but they don't exactly handle everything with care despite being told certain things are delicate. They broke some things, lost something. They did make it right, but that takes time and we were the one who had to follow up. I wouldn't recommend them for packing either. They work fast, but maybe too fast. Mike managed to squeeze our piano only move in with a day's notice. His arrival was right on time and the care with which he wrapped our apartement upright was unsurpassed. Just he and Sylvian were enough to move the piano around a tight corner and down a set of stairs. Careful all the way, they made it look easy, but that's why I got a professional. 3-hour rate minimum applies, but it was worth every penny. MOVING MAGIC!!! Nick, Sylvan & James rocked! These guys handled the move with care, no doubt. They gave (not rented or sold) us the hanging wardrobe boxes when they arrived on move day. Used Yelp to find these guys and man did they live up to their great rating. The slightly higher hourly price was totally worth it. I used a different mover a couple years back, and for a smaller move (which took less time) the other movers ended up costing much more than Handle with Care (even though Handle with Care's move was larger and took longer!). Beware - other movers stick you with all sorts of hidden fees. All the pads, bags, wardrobe box use, mileage, and other stuff I'm sure others would charge you for was all included in the price. Mike (the owner) and his 'strongest man' were so nice, made me feel at ease, and knew what they were doing. They were efficient, careful, and thorough, and I totally trusted my stuff with them. In addition to a high-level of professionalism, I loved that these guys wrapped all of my furniture, had boxes for my hanging cloths and came with tools for things that had to be taken apart for an easier (less damaging move). This review is way overdue. Wish I had a 6th star to add. We used Mike and his team in Oct 12 to move from Sunnyvale to Santa Clara. They understood our needs, were on time, worked super fast and so efficient, even with our toddler running around. They are such friendly, nice guys as well. Mike is the owner and works alongside Sylvan and Nick. We were in our new home (mostly unpacked and all furniture arranged) in just over 5 hours. It would have been faster if I had been more prepared. The last movers we used took 10 hours to move us 1 mile away. Who says moving has to be painful? Today Mike, James and Nick of Handle With Care Moving did an amazing job of moving our endless, heavy and chaotic pile of furnishings and other worldly possessions from Palo Alto to Berkeley. This was the smoothest move we have made - Mike visited our home twice prior to the move to advise and guide us about how to pack, which boxes to use (Home Depot mostly), and to give us endless encouragement. We are world-record pack rats, with lots of very heavy, awkward vintage furniture, yet Mike assured us that it would go well, and it did. Nothing flustered this crew....they were even able to accommodate a last-minute request to deliver a piano to Pacifica along the way! Mike and his crew are hard-working, and highly professionall. The team got straight to work the moment they arrived, packed our countless items quickly and nicely in their beautiful clean truck,delivered and reassembled each piece of furniture in its new home, and completed the whole job in less than their estimated time (even with the piano detour!) i should've written this post long ago... i've used handle with care moving for 5 moves (and counting), including my recent move to SFO. mike and his team have always been responsive, courteous and professional. one thing that i appreciate is that they really try to get the job done as quickly as possible. and they've always allowed me to "help" move my stuff. i've worked with other movers that seem to dick around - or have gotten pissy when i've tried to expediate things (because it most likely takes away from them getting paid as much as they can). mike and team have never minded (or if they did, they've never said anything.) it's not that i'm trying to reduce any payment; i'm just trying to get such a pain-in-the-ass chore completed as soon as possible. bottom line, mike and his team make moving far less stressful. i definitely plan to call on them again. read more

Mike and team deserve all the 5 star ratings. We moved in Sep 2016 only from Belmont to San Carlos. But, we are a family with young kids so needed to make sure crib, changing tables, etc were completely set up in the new house on the SAME DAY as when we moved from our old place. Mike's team were efficient, hard working and aware of how to safely move large pieces to avoid nicks, put things where you want them to avoid double moving etc. This allowed us to focus on the unpacking part and we were able to have the kids' rooms functional by late afternoon. We just spent two years building our own custom home from scratch. As you can imagine, we were very concerned about our new floors and walls getting scratched or dinged by movers. As a result, we were very picky about the movers we selected. After talking to about 5 different companies, we selected Mike and Handle With Care. We could not have been more pleased with our decision. First, because we weren't sure of the exact date that the house would be ready for move-in, we couldn't exactly pin down a solid moving date. Mike was really flexible and worked with me until we could put something solid on the calendar. Prior to the move, Mike came out to our house and spent some time with me reviewing and marking those items which they were going to handle, and which we were going to move on our own. Then on the day of the move, he and his crew were completely professional. They were prompt, clean and efficient. Mike understood our anxiety about our new house, and he and his crew took great care with the house and all of our belongings. They were polite and personable as well. The new house has a long uphill driveway, a lot of stairs up to the front door, and three stories. There was *a lot* of lifting and maneuvering of heavy items for them. I hadn't moved in 15 years and was really nervous about preparing to move into my new condo. I called Handle with Care Moving based on the reviews here, and Mike was very helpful by phone, advising me on how to pack and where to get boxes. When it was time to move, Mike and his crewmember James showed up right on time and got to work. The move did take a little longer than I had expected, but that's because the layout of my new condominium complex was difficult to navigate and slowed things down on the delivery side. The name of the company says it all. Mike and team do a great job of protecting furniture, items, door sills, and floors (ours our recently refinished hardwood) and are time efficient. They felted all our furniture on the move in to protect the floors as well. They did a great job handling a very old and large chaise lounge (a challenge to every mover we've ever had). My husband and I used Handle With Care to move us from a two bedroom apartment in Mountain View to a three bedroom house in Sunnyvale. Mike (the owner) and his team were amazing!! I have never been happier with a moving company! Mike and his movers were fast and efficient and treated our furniture with respect. They wrapped all the furniture extremely well and were mindful of corners and coming down the stairs. I have two extremely heavy pieces of furniture and they were able to move them both with ease. My husband commented on how Mike is the first person to ever make moving those pieces look easy. Mike is also extremely reasonable for the quality of service you receive. Our last move was with a brand name moving service. They were expensive and did a horrible job. Most of my furniture ended up with scratches and dings and they even ended up cracking an antique desk. I can honestly say that not one piece of furniture was scratched or marred during this move with Mike. That is huge considering 90 percent of our furniture is wood and half of those are antiques. We first used Handle with Care back in July 2011 to do a local move in the Bay Area. We didn't have much stuff back then and the move was finished in half a day, including an hour drive between locations. We hired them again this year where our stuff had more then doubled since the last move - filled up the entire truck and a spill over van. But they finished everything in 8 hours (even with three flights of stairs at one location). We really enjoyed working with them both times - very professional and friendly.
