Hane is a good restaurant because the food is really good. The sushi and the desserts are really good. I like the Tuna Roll and the Salmon Roll. For dessert you should try the Tempura Ice Cream. It's better than chocolate ice cream and vanilla ice cream. It is so good. The noise is medium, so sometimes it is loud and sometimes it is quiet. I've come to this spot plenty of times and its always a different experience. Some days service is amazing and sometimes its not so great. I always order special rolls and have never been disappointed. Recently the fried eel roll has probably been my choice. The edamame isn't all that great, I would skip it. The pork gyoza is amazing and their cocktails are on point. Also two for one? Everyday? Fuck yeah. The servers are always nice. Relatively attentive. Desserts are okay, tiramisu is worth a try but that's personally the only one that I've had out of all of them that's good. I called the restaurant and they said they would switch it out and to return the two California rolls to the delivery person. I've been going to Hane for the last 5 years and I can say that it's pretty solid. They have a number of sushi selections from basic to the fusion fancy rolls. I've tried almost all of them and think the fusion rolls are what keep me coming back. During their busy times (weekend evenings), the quality goes down a little bit. They do have 2 for 1 drinks, but they somewhat diluted so I don't feel like I'm getting a huge deal. The service is okay here, sometimes it will take us 10 minutes to get a check but other times, everyone is pretty prompt from water service to delivery. After sitting at tables, I much prefer sitting at the sushi bar, oddly feels like there is more privacy than sitting at the tables. read more

Fantastic neighborhood restaurant with a great menu. Let me start off by saying that they have a 2 for 1 drink special they offer ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. I could end the review right there but they deserve so much more. They also offer a loyalty rewards program where you get $35 off your meal after you've spent a total of $350 in $35 increments for each receipt your meal produces. In other words, if your meal is $70, you get one stamp (of the 10 you need). If your meal is $68 then you only get one.. you get the point. Anyway, on to the food! I always like to start off with the Spicy Tuna Tartar (which is amazing..) or the Seafood Dynamite which is a hot dish and just as good, followed by the Rainbow Dragon Roll. I always enjoy finding the unique menu items at any venue and this place has quite a few, these are just a few of my favorite. You'll have to try it for yourself to see just how awesome it is. As for desserts, there aren't any that are too authentic, but the cheese cake is pretty good. Staff is very polite and know what they are doing. HANE SUSHI is affordable, tasty and with drink specials (2 for 1) DAILY. Who could say no?! I love sushi, I like to eat sushi at least 2 or 3 times a week. I am glad I discovered this place one day with my model friend. Ever since then I have taken some of my close friends here and EVERYONE has loved it as well. The fish is fresh and the consistancy of all the rolls are exactly what I am always looking for. I have also tried the tiger prawns with the spinach noodles dish which is also amazing. The prawns that are served are huge and big enough portion to share with two people as an appetizer or after some sushi rolls. My favorite roll is the crunch tuna roll - It is a special roll which is a few extra dollars than the regular rolls but totally worth it and they are large rolls too, not small ones that you usually find in other sushi restaurants. I also enjoy the Special Rainbow Dragon Roll. It has about 8 to 10 pieces and the presentation is gorgeous. For drinks - I reccommend the plum wine and also saki bombs! Don't go to a Japanese restaurant for "non Japanese drinks" and then write about it to complain about it ;) (like the dude who wrote a rude unhelpful review) The only "con" I would say about the restaurant is that the service is mediocre. They are not very tenative and sometimes the servers just take your order but have this look on their face like they don't want to be there, so sometimes you end up waiting a while. I've caught the servers twice not picking up our orders from the sushi bar and just hanging out and chatting while our mouths are salivating staring at our orders sitting on the bar. :( read more

Hane is my favorite neighborhood sushi joint. It's surprisingly good for a non Japanese run sushi restaurant and reasonably priced. I used to eat here at least once every two weeks if not more. In terms of the sushi, it isn't top grade stuff, but it's definitely above average compared to the other sketchball places trying to pass themselves off as a sushi restaurant. I have something to say about my new neighborhood. There is a sushi place that is cheaper than all the other sushi places. Not only is the food (slightly) cheaper, but the drinks are buy one get one. Not just at happy hour. All. The. Time. Hello!? Are you listening?! This is important information people. Mostly about the never ending drink specials. Let me help you out if math and basic logic escape you: You order 1 Sapporo. You drink it. They bring you another Sapporo. You drink that one, too. Only one appears on your bill. Doesn't matter what the drink is, wine, mixed cocktails, beers, everything. Doesn't matter if you order the regular polite Sapporo or the mother-load (you know the big gigantic one. Don't act like you don't.) One free beverage for every one purchased is enough of a reason to love it. But. Food is important too I guess, especially considering all the beer/wine/cocktails you are consuming while you wallet smiles. So. I wouldn't say this is the best sushi ever. I really wouldn't. But it's not at all near bad and actually pretty tasty. However, if you are the type of person who is so particular that you eat at Nobu or bust, well, then you probably don't give a crap about their drink specials and honestly, don't bother coming by. They don't seat you fancy types. The menu is really enormous. You know how big a diner menu is? That's what this menu is like. Pages upon pages of items, most with large, comprehensive photos and small descriptions. It's like an adult picture book of noms. They have copious amounts of "Chef's Special Rolls" most of which are very good, and enormous, so good luck fitting one in your mouth. Or maybe that's not a problem for you. I'm not judging I swear. While you work on that roll, I'll be over here eating the Tobiko Rainbow Roll with a side of Dragon Roll and Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll. Take note though, most of the special rolls come in some sort of "house sauce". I find I'm not a huge fan of it, and sometimes there's too much on the plate and it can ruin the moment. So, ask for it on the side if you have a fear of all your raw fish covered in what looks like a cream sauce. Oh! AND: You know how you have friends that don't eat sushi? Yeah, I do too and I completely agree with you -- it's very weird. You can bring those guys here, too. Right next to pages and pages of raw fish options, you also have pages and pages of cooked food, like bacon wrapped pineapple skewers and beef dishes that look fairly delicious. TBW hates all things raw fish, but eats here happily while munching on other (obviously lesser) entree options that seem to satisfy him. It's sort of worth the trip because the decor is very weird and always makes us laugh. They have faux marble here, a weird water feature there, some sort of flower like things on their railings that slowly change color as you eat (blue to purple to red to green to hot pink...odd), some sort of tassel like thing hanging from the window, a wall full of tiles like a giant bathroom...it was essentially decorated by a schizophrenic. While Hane is nothing high end, and looks weird inside, the buy one get one all the time special is pretty good, and there's something on the menu for the whole family. read more

Okay, so straight up, you walk in and the place screams "diner". I was very skeptical. But I quickly got over it for two simple reasons - 1. All drinks are 2 for 1! What? Yes, you're reading correctly. I could not get over this fact and kept exclaiming about it throughout the whole dinner. Our group got many a round of sake, beer and wine to take full advantage. Even AFTER we received our check, one of the guys in my group realized that he had not received his 2nd "free" beer, and they actually brought it for him! 2. The sushi is solid! This is our sushi restaurant for 3 plus years and even though I think it's one of the best around Manhattan (meaning quality and price), I think they're a four star because of the service. They always start off great but after our order is taken, the server usually disappears on us. Other servers have told us our person is on break or went home - happens half the time! Did I mention that we go there once a wk? Hane has some of the freshest sushi around - no matter what day of the week. Never once has anything come out questionable. Pretty large space. Always pretty busy. They have a larger menu than most japanese restaurants--especially for vegetarians. At most restaurants, I have to ask to see if they can make me vegi sushi but it's on their menu at Hane. Last time I was there, they seated us at a table near the fountain the back. Well, it splashed on us our entire meal--that's poorly designed. Service was alright--the food took a while to come out so the waiter brought us complimentary edamame. It was nice of him but what bothers me is, if we were hungry for edamame wouldn't we just order it? Why can't they just take something that we DID order off the bill? It just seems silly. I've been coming to Hane a few times a month for the last 3 years. It's definitely one of the best sushi places in the area! The fish is always fresh. Cool ambience. Outdoor seating. 2 for 1 drinks ALL the time, which makes it great for group dinners. The staff is usually very accommodating if you call and make last minute reservations. Their special rolls are excellent also, especially the Hane Spicy Tuna, Butterfly Roll, Sesame Seared Tuna. The fish is very fresh and they make great original rolls. There have been a couple of times where I wasn't thrilled with a dish (thus the 4 stars), but most of their dishes are really great. They have 2 for 1 drink specials all the time! woohoo! It is always packed on fri and sat night. Be prepared. I like their vegetarian options. Although the vege-maki is not as good as I hoped, they have a lot of vegetarian sushi, vege appetizers and vege entrees. Most sushi restaurants don't even have those options. I have been coming here since 2010. This is the best sushi in NYC especially considering the reasonable pricing. The fish is super fresh every single day. They have great lunch specials that give you a little bit of everything. Two for one drink specials! Who could go wrong? The owners are humble and extremely hands on, helping their employees when it's busy and checking on customer's satisfaction. The staff are all polite and attentive. I love that their shrimp tempura roll has asparagus and a special creamy sauce that is devine. Try their bacon wrapped scallop skewers. They use a sweet glaze that pairs very well. Rainbow dragon roll is another one of my favorites. Oh and the beef gyudon I believe is only available for lunch but it's delicious and you're served a generous portion. The beef is sliced very thin! I also enjoy the shrimp dumpling soup. The dumplings have chunks of shrimp. There is also a great assortment of desserts. One of my favs is the tempura red bean ice cream. This is a fairly large neighborhood sushi place that gets a lot of crowd from its strategic location near the Stuytown development. Hane Sushi could get away with mediocre service and food quality, but they definitely do not! They've consistently delivered quality service, an expansive menu selection, and standard sushi for average NYC prices. The 2 for 1 drink special is obviously amazing, and the lunch deals are also great value, lots of food for very little. Their miso soup is always good, and I'm a fan of the shrimp tempura roll. I've gotten delivery from here many times and they always deliver in a timely fashion. The one time they messed up my order, I called and they immediately were very attentive and delivered a new order in about 10 minutes. Extra star for service.
