Absolutely fantastic. Was visiting Westwood and saw this place had taken over the taco shop that was here when I was an undergrad. Pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. We ordered the two slider combo, and it seemed a little pricey, but when we opened our box, all we could say was wow. The portions are huge! We got the sesame tofu and the original chicken slider. The tofu had a nice bite to it and the slaw and pickles went well with it. We just wished that it came with a sauce, maybe the sesame sauce they marinate the tofu in. The chicken slider was huge! Flavor wise, it was good, standard but definitely not bad. You also get a good portion of fries with your order. Service is good, friendly like the other eateries around. Honesty, if you're caught up by the price - the serving size here is definitely enough to fill 2 people!!!! The first time I came here, I wasn't so impressed by the hangry bites combo - the fries were stale, the flavor got tiring and my texas toast was rock hard. Giving Hangry bites combo a 3/5. The best redeeming factor is for a portion that's only $11.99 that is one hella big serving of chicken. For the other times I have been to hangry moon's, I would rec items on the thicc fries/nachos menu. The combos on here are $1 extra but totally worth it. So much more flavorful and many fun combinations. And like their hangry combo, they definitely do not skim out on protein portions. One of my favorites is the KFC THICC FRIES 5/5. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and I can honestly say I'm thoroughly disappointed. I ordered the chicken tenders, which are about %70 breading, and they have to be some of the worst tenders I've ever had. The breading was hard on the outside and raw in the inside and the flavor of the chicken had no redeeming qualities either. As for the "Texas Toast", it is hands down the most disgusting piece of bread I have ever had in my life. It is soggy and oily and it feels like you are biting into a wet sponge. Hangry Moon's is a restaurant operated out of a shack a few blocks south of the UCLA campus in Westwood. There are two other shacks next to it: Gushi (Korean BBQ) and Fat Sal's (sandwiches). Both are also very good so I usually have a hard time choosing between the three restaurants. The last time I was at Hangry Moon's, I had their Hangry Combo which consists of two very large deep fried and battered chicken tenders, french fries, and a slice of texas toast. Very good and very filling. I was concerned that the two piece combo wouldn't be enough (they also offer a three piece combo) so I also ordered one Hangry Taco with chicken. But I didn't need the taco. I was very happy with my meal and I will go back the next time I am near UCLA. read more

Was so excited to try this place based on reviews. I ordered a chicken breast bowl- it was absolutely disgusting. I saw the man making it microwave 75% of the dish in a plastic container. Still serving some great late-night bits during the stay-at-home order! As everyone says, the portions here are HUGE. It took me awhile to actually come try here because I thought the prices were a bit high, but when you factor in the quantity of food it really does come to be a great deal. The food is also always freshly made to order, and you can phone-in an order too so that you don't have to wait the 5-15 minutes outside. I personally like getting the sliders combo. I usually split the order as 1 Chicken Slider (absolutely delicious) and 1 Korean Black Angus Rib-eye Slider (less meat, but very tasty bulgogi/kalbi-esque marinade). The meal was definitely filling and a decent price for westwood. I got the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich and it was huge and delicious flavor. One picky issue: the fries were completely cold. You can see that they are kept in a half pan under a heat lamp so who knows how long they were sitting there. I only found out about Hangry Moon's because I was at Fat Sal's and saw it next door. As much as I want to give it more than 3 stars, I just can't. I understand the appeal, a drunk food type of restaurant next to a university. The food took a loooooong time. I ordered here first and then ordered Fat Sal's after but my food from Fat Sal's came out first. I only saw one person in the restaurant and he was working both the register and cooking. I ordered the popcorn chicken meal and my friend ordered the buffalo chicken fries. Both of these items didn't really blow us away by any means. When they came out, it looked good but the taste just wasn't there. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things. I'd be willing to come back and give the food another try but I'd just order something else. read more
