I'm so glad we found this place. As someone who's hesitant to eat out unless there's options for seed oil free meals, I'd given up on wings. It's been years since I've gone to a wing spot because I can't seem to eat them without having a stomach ache after. Not only was Joey's Wings fantastic, but I felt really good after eating quality ingredient wings. My husband and I ordered the 15 piece to share. We split the flavors to be (1) naked wings and (2) lemon pepper (non-spicy). I was surprised at just how much flavor the naked wings had. The ranch tastes homemade; buttermilk with texture from the minced dill so it seems. Paired with the naked wings it was very rich in flavor. The lemon-pepper is heavier on the lemon than most places serving this flavor, which I love. The seasoning is delicious I didn't even need a dip to be honest. I can't wait to come back and try more flavors! The staff were super friendly. Ordering was a breeze, we got our food in less than 10 minutes from ordering. I can't wait to come back and explore different flavors!

The front is uninviting... I thought they were closed because the front door was closed and blocked by a cash register. After standing around for about 5 minutes the cashier came by and opened the door. I guess you order at the door and its to go. The only seating option is outside the Mediterranean restaurant next door. We order 15 wings (buffalo & Polynesian). They were decent... but I've had better. I do like that they avoid seed oils and are gluten free.

Now this is Thursday Night Football Food for me!! Whenever my favorite football, basketball or baseball teams are on TV I treat myself to Joey's Wings!! I love the FLAT STYLE WITHOUT SAUCE...NAKED! And some BUTTERED CORN ON THE COB along with CARROTS and CELERY with RANCH DRESSING!! I order from this restaurant often and have never been disappointed!! Really really good!

The food is really good. You can also eat outside. The service is really good very friendly. So far I've tried the in house sauce lemon pepper fire !!!! I've have many wings all around California and I gotta tell you this tops it all

Service was great and the wait was only 20 minutes. Review is averaged at a 3 because of the lack of meat on the chicken wing flats and the garlic parm was just garlic Chunks not much sauce. I did appreciate these are healthier as they are baked. Would go again if I'm in the area but would not go out of my way to make the trip. Honey garlic sauce was delicious.

Ordered their chicken sandwich, and it was super garlicky and delicious! The chicken is tender, and I love that they added potatoes, pickles, and lots of garlic as well. Their signature and garlic sauces are fantastic, service is really great and friendly! I love that there is a sandwich option at a wing place, cause my husband loves wings and I don't really care for them!

I ordered the chicken strips with fries, while my partner ordered a two-piece chicken dinner with macaroni salad and spicy rice. Although we had to wait a little while for the food, it arrived hot. We both agreed that it was some of the best fast-food fried chicken we had ever eaten. The chicken was moist and the batter was crispy. My fries were good, and my partner's macaroni salad and spicy rice were both flavorful. We especially loved the biscuit. I also couldn't help noticing that although the dining room feels like something of a relic, it is very well maintained. There were no dirty tables and no trash on the floor. I was genuinely shocked when the cashier came out to ask how everything was and whether we needed anything else. Most fast-food chains seem determined to eliminate as much human interaction as possible. Pioneer Chicken was a refreshing reminder that fast food can still be friendly, clean and satisfying. Pioneer Chicken is a winner in my book!

Chicken sando is big, great portion size of fries as well. Definitely can share. Normally I don't care for crinkle fries but they were fried & seasoned to perfection. Honorable mention to the staff behind the counter as well, every person I made eye contact with (although they were busy) returned a smile. I appreciate feeling welcomed. Great people & great food.

I stuck with getting the mild sando, and didn't expect the chicken breast so gigantic! It was a delicious sandwich and the spice was pretty good. I'm glad I didn't go any spicier than that. I ordered the fries which were actually pretty good. They were definitely seasoned, but they weren't heavily in taste sense. They had something for me to drink and it went really well with a meal actually. I'm glad that I could say that I enjoyed this place from beginning to end. It is a little hidden, but luckily for me I found it. Definitely will come back to have my wife try it one day.

Sampa is located in the Arts District near the intersection of S Hewitt St and E 5th right next to Urth Cafe. There's a parking lot directly across the street from the restaurant but you can also park around the corner by Arts District Park for $5. If it's your first time visiting Sampa, you have to be open minded towards the concept itself. Yes, the dishes here are smaller in portion and costs more than your typical fast casual spot. All the servers here are attentive and offer to help with what to order if you're unsure. For dinner, the Crispy Pasta is their take on crispy pata but served with spinach tagliatelle. The crab fat fried rice is a no brainer and depending on the night you come, I highly recommend the Sinigang xiaolongbao special. You don't have to be Filipino to appreciate what Sampa is doing for the culture, just come by and see for yourself.

Decor is all black. By design to hide cheap furniture or dust I don't know but it did not elevate the space. Pretty cold welcome as well. Went to Bestia down the street the week before and everyone greets you and the energy was high, not here. To the food, I'll preface this by saying I'm Filipino so I know the flavors. First course, kare kare tamales ($26). Pretty bland, meat didn't seem like oxtail but was at least well braised. Masa was really mushy and sauce lacked peanut flavor and salt, seemed like just a lot of cream. Second course, Bicol Express Mezzelune pasta. Seemed like the same protein inside as the kare kare tamales and the pasta was really undercooked. $38 for 7 undercooked mezzelune? For that price, could have had a whole meal at Olive Garden for 4 and been more satisfied. Entrees were Crab Fried Rice ($38), Pork Pinakbet ($56) and Crispy Duck Pancit ($48). The Crab Fried Rice was the best of the night with good flavor and lots of crab. The Pinakbet was nothing like pinakbet I've had before. It was a huge pork knuckle drowned in a heavy cream sauce. There were 2 okras in it and no other veg. The Crispy Duck Pancit was overcooked (not crispy) duck breast over some kind of noodles that were like mediocre Chinese take out with a little vinegar to make it Filipino. Toward the end the waitress then asked if we wanted dessert (of which there was only one option) even way before we were done with the entrees. When we declined, she dropped the check even though we were still eating. I had such high hopes for this restaurant because I think Filipino flavors are prime for higher end dining but we got none of the punchy, bright flavors that are common in Filipino cuisine. I would say the food for the most part didn't even measure up to Waipahu or Daly City Filipino restaurants much less elevated, fine dining. This meal for 2 adults and 2 teenagers was $400. We've had better in Waipahu for $75. Boggles my mind how there are so many good reviews here. Unless you are rich and desperate for anything resembling Filipino food, I would just take a pass here. P.S. the 2 mocktails for $14 each were also underwhelming and a little weird.
