We also got the Panang Curry and it was really good as well, I would say certain parts of the steak were a bit too salty, but overall an 8/10. This might actually be my favorite Thai restaurant. I wish I could try everything on the menu :'D So many favorites from this dinner but the Gai Todd Hat Yai (fried chicken) is a must have appetizer! The sauce and flakes complimented the chicken well giving it extra crunch and sweetness. The lamb-a-singh was also fantastic, cooked very well and flavorful. The drunken noodles had a nice kick to it, I'd say maybe it was a bit saltier than I'd like but still very tasty. As for drinks, I got a mocktail of the mango sticky rice drink but wow it was quite literally mango sticky rice in drink form! I've gotten takeout from here twice now and I can safely say that this is my favorite Thai restaurant in OC. I feel like many of the Thai spots in the area have very one-noted flavors, but everything at this place is packed with so many flavors and spices. I get the Drunken Noodles, Massaman Curry, and Gai Todd Hat Yai, and everything is delicious. The Drunken Noodles are one of the best versions I've ever had, and the Gai Todd Hat Yai is one of the best fried chicken dishes I've had in recent memory (I'm talking fried chicken in general). While this place is on the pricier side, flavors, food quality, and portions make it absolutely worth it. Had a midweek date here with my husband. Per our servers recommendation, we started with the chicken wings. I'm not normally a chicken wing girl, but these were fire! My friends and I came around 7pm on a Thursday night this time, and we got seated around 8:40pm. The place is relatively small, so they have tables set up outside in front of the next door businesses. As far as the food goes, everything tasted pretty standard for thai food, nothing extraordinary. The only dish that stood out was the Crying Tiger, which was very tender since it was medium fillet mignon. Overall, I was pretty disappointed as I was looking forward to trying this place since it's got so many good reviews. This place is absolutely amazing and definitely worth the wait! Me and my friend got the Karee curry (yellow curry) with tofu and it was so flavorful and rich. Honestly, the best yellow curry that I have had in my life. The tofu was grilled so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which creates the perfect balance of textures with each bite and the white rice was cooked to perfection. I am always on the hunt for good thai food! I've been to Hanuman Thai 2 times now. I love the Pad Thai here! It comes with shrimp and the flavors have that balance of tang, sweetness, and umami Perfectly balanced and seasoned! It is 10/10 on the pad thai! I do love me some pad kee mao but the one here was lacking that basil flavor and didn't have any complexity to it like the dish usually does (spice, fish sauce umami, basil aroma). My friend ordered the ceviche to share. I thought the hamachi ceviche didn't taste so fresh or refreshing. The shrimp chips were a nice add but overall, I would skip it. Same with the papaya salad which I love, but it only had a ton of acidity and not enough umami/ depth. The curry is also delicious! I definitely recommend the pad thai and curry! They also have such a nice cocktail and beer list! I haven't tried these yet but they had such cool ones! I was intrigued by the tom yum beer but we always order a lot of food so I will get it next time! The service is alright. There's usually a wait, so I recommend getting there before there'll be a rush. My party and I got kicked out because I think there is a time limit? Our group was catching up and vibing so much, we didn't even realize there was one? Wish we knew earlier. Hanuman is our favorite Thai place in OC. It's located in a small strip mall that's not too busy other than the restaurant itself so parking isn't too bad. Our go to dish is the Karee, the curry is flavorful, meat always on point and plenty to eat for the price. As an appetizer, we always get the Chicken Satay with the peanut sauce, and talking about peanuts, they were able to accommodate my sister in law with a peanut allergy by cooking after sanitizing the cookware. I'm a big fan of the noodles, so we always get a drunken noodle to share while I try different noodle dishes like Khao Soi and Boat Noodles. They also collaborate with the Japanese/Thai fusion restaurant (that I presume they also own), so if the lines are too long, I believe you can get seated at the Japanese restaurant and still order the Thai food from Hanuman. You also can order the Japanese food if you choose to do so when dining at Hanuman. The decor is really nice and has a cozy feeling. This location is slightly smaller. But they offer outdoor seating. They also work with the Thai fusion restaurant next door and you can order from either restaurants which I find pretty cool. A pretty decent amount of food selections on the menu! Portion sizes are very solid too. Food came out fast and piping hot! We got the chicken wings with sticky rice and the flavor on the wings is good, not too salty so you can still dip it in the sauce. Sticky rice was a good texture, chewy and not too mushy or hard. The wings were pretty big and very juicy. I love that they gave us hand wipes for the chicken wings. We also tried the khao soi, very creamy, flavorful (can taste the different spices added). It also had a massive chicken leg. The only thing I wish was different was I wish they gave a bigger piece of lime to add to the noodles. From the moment our entrees arrived, the waiter seemed eager to rush us out. About five minutes after the food was served--before we had even started eating--we were asked if we needed a to-go box. After that, the waiter came by roughly every 10 minutes checking if we were finished, to the point where it became uncomfortable. For context, this wasn't a long, lingering dinner. We were seated at 6:20 PM and left at 7:50 PM, and this was on a Wednesday night, not even a weekend. During that time, I ordered three rounds of cocktails, yet we were still repeatedly pushed to wrap things up and leave. I understand there was a long waitlist, but rushing paying customers like this is not the right way to handle it. My husband ordered their new menu, Mee Klook which has very good plating on seasoned egg and fish cake skewer, FYI this noodle is dry and has soup on the side. This menu is good for anyone does not keen on strong taste. While me, coming from faraway, of course needed to try the famous Khao Soi. The noodle's type is my favorite texture and don't get me started with the chicken, it literally was falling off when I forked it, SUPER TENDER! It comes with dry noodles, I guess for presentation purpose and the curry soup was finished by me alone (which most of the time I never did that). It has so many flavour: creamy, lemongrass, galangal and other secret herbs. And as for service, everyone is so accommodating , friendly and really explained well when we got some questions. Stopped in to grab some Thai food for takeout. I was greeted right away when I walked up, and everyone was very welcoming, which I appreciated. I let them know I wanted to place an order to-go. The woman at the kiosk was going to take my order, but I asked if I could see a menu and stepped inside. First, I have to say the setup was surprising for a Thai restaurant. It was chilly outside, and I would have preferred to wait indoors from the start. After looking over the menu, I placed my order and waited for someone to approach me to confirm I'd been helped. She got my order, took my number, and initially told me to wait in my car. I mentioned that I had walked over, and since it was cold, she immediately obliged and offered me a seat inside, which I appreciated. That said, the open door and cold air coming in made the space feel uncomfortable. Most of the guests had their coats on and looked cold. I would have loved a cozier, more welcoming atmosphere -- especially at a Thai restaurant, where warmth and hospitality are usually part of the experience. The food came out very quickly -- there was barely any wait time at all, which I appreciated. The Pad See Ew was good better than most I've had in a while . I just wish there had been a bit more broccoli and chicken in the dish to round it out. The Gai Tod Hat Yai, however, was just okay. I had high hopes for it. The chicken was crunchy, which I enjoyed, but I was expecting more of that classic Thai flavor profile -- perhaps a traditional fish sauce-based dipping sauce instead of the sweeter sauce that reminded me of egg roll sauce. The chicken itself was quite dark in color. When fried chicken turns very dark, it can sometimes indicate that the oil temperature is too high, causing the exterior to brown too quickly and deepen in color before the inside finishes properly. While it was crispy, the darker appearance stood out, and unfortunately parts of it tasted burnt. I didn't end up finishing it, which was disappointing given how much I was looking forward to it. Overall, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the Pad See Ew stood out. Went on a Saturday late night around maybe 8pm and wow was there a line! The wait was pretty long but I can completely see why for the quality of food and great service. Our table ordered their chicken wings and Hanuman ceviche to start. Chicken wings were crispy and savory and the ceviche definitely is a must have! It's refreshing, acidic and sweet all at once! And it looks small but each of us were able to get a few bites in and each bite was heavenly. I personally ordered the Khao soi because I love those crunchy noodles and they paired so well with the spicy broth, the chicken also was so moist and noodles were filling and a great texture. My friend liked the masuman curry and described it as a rich and butter texture with tender steak. I do have to give a shoutout to their drinks. The mango sticky rice cocktail was sooo good and the alcohol didn't have a strong taste, that pandan mocktail was something I would literally drink on a weekly basis, it was sweet and refreshing but did the pandan flavor a wonderful justice. Look at that color too! Gorgeous! Lastly dessert was also very refreshing and it reminded me of bingsoo but I really enjoyed the variety of their toppings!
