The food here is good but honestly service could be a little bit better. I understand the confusion because we had the same name as the group waiting next to us but I wish they checked our phone number as a part of the confirmation process. We waited for our turn at #1 on the waitlist for 2 hours and they kept giving our table away and apologizing for the misunderstanding. That being said, I still love the little store and the neon signs they have hanging remind me of the street food scenes when I travelled to asia. The vibe of the place is really chill yet at the same vibrant and bustling like how it would be if you were at a street food stall. The crying tiger is hands down my favorite pick of the night and the yellow curry with roti is unforgettable. The meat was perfectly cooked and paired wonderfully with the sauce which was tangy and cut through the fattiness of the meat beautifully. Perfectly savory and sweet, curry balences out with crispy roti and I also topped it on my rice as well. The waitresses were sweet and consistently check in on us too. The quality has not changed and is still easily one of my top picks for when I'm craving Thai food.

Chiang Rai specializes in Northern Thai cuisine. They have a large menu to choose from and great decor. My group settled on some items to share. Pad Thai (chicken) - $19 - This dish consisted of rice noodles tossed with egg, tamarind and fish sauce, bean sprouts, peanuts and chicken. Chicken was tender and overall I fell this dish was good but I felt I have tried better in Bangkok. Som Tum Thai - $17 - This was made of shredded green papaya, lime juice, fish sauce, tomatoes, peanuts and shrimp. It was refreshing and crunchy and had great flavor. Khao soi (chicken) - $19 - Made with a rich coconut curry broth, egg noodles, and topped with crispy noodles, this had a lot of depth of flavor. This is one of their more popular dishes and I can see why. Goong Kan - $23 - This consisted of shrimp with shell on sauteed in a curry sauce. I'd probably pass on this, there was nothing unique about this dish. Mango Sticky Rice - $14 - The mango was so sweet and delicious here! The sweet and sticky riced paired with it and was the perfect way to end the meal here. Thai iced tea - $6 - Solid Thai tea option here, though it is on the sweeter side. Overall I enjoyed the khao soi and mango sticky rice. I definitely need to visit again to try some of their other specialties.

We came on a Sunday right when it opened and we were seated right away. Food was very flavorful. I love their papaya salad & pad seew. Green curry can be a little thicker, but overall really good. Steamed mussels wa a little tough, but the lime sauce makes up for the flavor. You have to come when it opens because it gets really busy.

Found this gem when trying to book a reservation for 8 people. Other Thai restaurants did not take reservations so this was a great start. When we got there they were so busy, but that also meant food was good. Ordered a lot of dishes and honestly love them all. Very authentic Thai taste. Food came out fast, did not have to wait a long time. Inside was just too loud because of many people, but other than that everything was great. Will definitely come back to try other dishes.

My favorite Thai restaurant in OC and well deserved of their Michelin credentials (although it's priced in). It can be on the expensive side for Thai food, but I thought the quality of the food and large portions alleviated the cost. The food was superb and you can really taste the freshness of the ingredients and the bold flavors. Parking is easy to find, but can be a bit of a walk because of the structure of the strip mall. Food/Drink- 5 stars Som Tum Kai Tod- everything about this dish was divine. The chicken was juicy and perfectly fried. The salad had so much flavor. And the sticky rice was perfectly cooked, and stayed warm throughout our menu due to their presentation. Highly recommend it, but expect to get your hands dirty Aom Nure- the soup was a great way to round out the whole meal. Pad Mama- this was really good, and I'm glad I tried it over the more mainstream noodle dishes. Perfect wok hei and plenty of flavor Service- 5 stars Food came out pretty quickly and servers were pretty attentive. It can be a bit crowded on the seating though because of how small the restaurant is Bottom Line Excellent food and you can see the Michelin recognition. Do expect higher prices, but the portions and quality are there

Finally got to try Chiang Rai and absolutely loved it! The decor and ambiance is so great. They created such a beautiful colorful atmosphere with a friendly staff. We got the Khao Soi and it was so delicious. The curry was rich and smooth and I loved the addition of raw onion they gave on the side to cut through the heaviness of the dish. The noodles were soft and held the sauce very well. Great portion of the sliced beef as well! I don't think I could finish this dish myself without being put into an absolute food coma so I'm glad we shared it. We ended up with a lot of extra curry at the end and I'm sure it would have been great to take home and eat with something else too! We also got the fried pork belly with tamarind sauce which I wasn't as impressed with. I loved the sauce but the meat itself left me wanting more. It also didn't come with rice so we ordered a portion on the side so we had something to eat the pork with (just something to keep in mind). One thing I will critique is that the food comes out at very different times. We almost completely finished our khao soi before the pork came out and we noticed some of the bigger tables next to us were getting dishes 10-15 minutes apart. Just something to be aware of if you're getting multiple dishes!

Quaint restaurant with delicious Thai food. The Khao Soi Noodle Soup was flavorful from the broth and crispy soft shell crab. The soup was more of a curry consistency - viscous and creamy. The Poo Kari was tasty from the egg sauce over the soft shell crab with rice. It's a small restaurant so space is tight, but the interior decor makes it look like you're eating on the Thai streets. Service could be better because the bar surface was dirty and there wasn't a designated server so I had to flag one down to order and get the bill.

Went here for a girls night and had a wonderful time. They have an extremely long wait times especially weekends so make sure you have time on hands. Their many is huge! Not kidding! It was hard to choose from. But the food was delicious and we ordered a bit too much!! Has absolute fun night!

The atmosphere and vibes inside is super lively and authentic. The decorations add a nice immersive experience. drunken noodles: 7.5/10. yummy but on the more oily side. I got it level spicy and that was a pretty good spice. chicken satay: 7.3/10. yummy chicken skewers, but the meat was a bit on the drier/chewier side. came with a thick almond butter based sauce? khao soi: 8/10. delicious !!! crispy noodles AND regular egg noodles. the texture and flavor was perfect ! comes with onions, lime, and pickled veggies on the side to make to your liking. staff is very friendly and attentive :)

Can't remembered but all the food was good.

The food was flavorful and thoughtfully prepared, with each dish well-balanced and nicely seasoned. Every bite felt intentional, and you could tell care went into the cooking. The textures and flavors overall were satisfying without being overwhelming. The only dish that didn't quite land for me was the beef tongue--the slices were cut a bit too thick, which made the texture feel heavy, and the richness of the flavor became a bit overpowering. A thinner cut might have made it more enjoyable and balanced. Aside from that, everything else was delicious, and paired with the great ambiance and reasonable wait time for a weeknight, it made for a really enjoyable dining experience

I recently came here with my sister. She kept on hearing her friend talking about Chiang Rai so wanted try it out. Food was very good but it's more on the pricey side for Thai foods. We had the crying tiger (grilled usda rib eye), som tum kor moo (papaya salad with grilled pork neck and sticky rice) and the beef curry with bamboo shoots. They were not only delicious but beautifully decorated. The meat was so tender on the crying tiger. My sister loved it and thought that was the best Thai food for her compared to all the ones she's had lately. :)

Wowza! Everyone talks about Manaoo but Chiang Rai may be my new favorite Thai place!! Everything we ordered was spectacular and we can't wait to come back! We got: Jor pu (crab dumpling)- so much crab and perfectly crispy. The homemade sweet and sour was amazing. Gang pla (Fish curry)- lychee in curry with sea bass!? Who knew.. my far one of our favorite dishes. Pad Kara Prow (with chicken) - so much flavor and with the chicken it felt lighter and so so good Midnight chicken with roti- perfectly fried and the inside deliciously tender. Khan Soi Noodle Soup- definitely a must try! It is one of my favorite dishes and then using the additional broth/curry over rice is perfection. Som tum Thai (papaya salad)- loved their salad- could've been a bit more spicy but they brought all the spice condiments over so that problem was quickly fixed. Thai Bua Loy (sesame balls) - perfect way to end the evening (even with an overly full belly) with the perfectly chewy-sesame filled balls with coconut milk. We've done take out but the inside ambiance feels that of a street restaurant and just gives all the best vibes. All the waiters and waitresses seem to help each other out--which is nice as you never feel neglected. Will absolutely be back.

Yum! My husband and I love Thai food and Chiang Rai is at the top of our list! The food is consistently delicious and they offer a wide variety of protein and food options. The service is always quick and efficient and the decor is really bright and fun. The wait time tends to be a lot shorter than nearby Thai spots as well. Would highly recommend!

Ask the Community - Chiang Rai

Since they do not take reservations, how busy do they get on Saturday evenings? Is there a wait and if so how long on average? 20 min, 45 min, 1+ hours?

Last time I was there, I waited like 40+ minutes.

Does Chiang Rai Tustin take reservations?

Yes, they did when we went in February! Called the night before.

Can they accommodate for a gluten allergy?

Yes, we have options for that

Is this the same as the one in long beach?

Yes. It is the same as Long Beach but a little different some of the menu .

    How long it open?

The Tustin location is quite new -- I'd say a month or two

We were seated right away. The space is narrow and only has several tables for dine-in. I think that there are probably more people who order for pickup because a lot came in to grab their food during our entire visit. It seems they have a good amount of regulars too. Almost like the Cheers bar in MA where everybody knows your name. Kinda nice actually. What we ordered: 1) pad see ew with crispy pork - 5/5. The kids loved this so much we needed up having to order two. 2) garlic salmon - 4/5. Served over a bed of veggies. This one was à la cart so we had to order a side of rice. It's enough for one person. This was covered with garlicky goodness. My son was wanting more. 3) Panang curry - 5/5. Not pictured here. One of our guests started to devour that dish before I could even take a photo. Sadly, they weren't familiar with me wanting to take a picture. The kids were like "oh no. We don't touch our food before the little photoshoot" LOL. Overall, we really enjoyed our food. I'm not in the area frequently, but if I was around and wanted Thai, I would definitely come back for more. Service was great and staff were attentive and friendly. What more could you ask for?

Well, I guess it was bound to happen. While my food adventures in OC have largely been successful,…read moreit was inevitable that I'd end up coming across a place that so many folks like that just didn't hit the mark for me. However, I never would've thought that place was going to be Siam Station. After hearing good things about their spot in Cupertino/the Bay Area from several friends, it felt rather fortuitous when we randomly came across their original location - and with no line in sight! Inside, they've got a cozy sort of vibe and it's cool how they have some outdoor tables set-up as well. As for the menu, it didn't seem all that extensive at a glance, but it has all of the staples you'd expect to find among their appetizers, soups, salads, fried rice, stir fried noodles, noodle soups, curry dishes, entrees, and desserts. -- ZESTY WINGS - Deep Fried Chicken Wings Topped with Crispy Basil and Served with Chili Sauce Easily our favorite dish of the night. The wings were really crispy on the outside and oh so juicy on the inside. Even though there wasn't much of the sauce, which was flavorful but not that spicy, it was fine - the wings were still great without it. -- KHAO SOI with Chicken - Yellow Curry Broth with Egg Noodles and Chicken and Served with Red Onions, Lime, and Pickles Ehh...this was okay, I guess. On the plus side, the chicken was tender and I thought the broth was pretty good - not the best I've had, but better than most. That said, I didn't love the egg noodles, especially the crispy ones after they had soaked up the broth. -- PAD KEE MOW (Drunken Noodles) with Crispy Pork - Flat Rice Noodles Stir Fried with Spicy Basil Garlic Sauce, Bell Peppers, Tomato, Sweet Onion, and Thai Basil I was super excited for this, but it was disappointing. The first thing we noticed was how pale it was and, sadly, the taste matched. Whether it be their garlic sauce or some chilis, this needed more. As for the pork, it was definitely crispy, but a few pieces bordered on dry/burnt. -- MANGO STICKY RICE A little hit, a little miss. The mango was fine (decently sweet, soft), but the sticky rice left us a little wanting. Mainly, I didn't love the glob of coconut cream, was it was pretty thick and viscous, which gave the rice a weird texture/coating to it. As far as service goes, it was uneventfully good. Although there was one point where it was hard to hail someone, it was mostly because the restaurant got increasingly busy and one of the servers was trying to help a group sort something out with their order. Otherwise, our food came out relatively quick and the workers were rather efficient with everything. Despite how we left feeling bummed out by our experience, it had more to do with being underwhelmed than the food actually being "bad". Admittedly, we came in with high hopes/expectations from all of the hype we had heard and it probably didn't help that we had gone to Manaao the night before, which is one of my favorite Thai restaurants anywhere. What's more, I wonder if we just didn't get the best that Siam Station has to offer. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to coming back to find out (and potentially writing an update), but perhaps I'll just try my luck at their spot in Cupertino that my friends like so much.

They can't even spare a container for the Murtabak, it came wrapped in foil LOL. Like not even inside a container, it was just swished around the bag wrapped in foil. On top of it, it was soggy as F. Typically, restaurants will poke holes in the container to let it "breathe" in order to keep roti crisp even if you line it with foil and if they don't know about this, idk why they're even a restaurant. The lack of knowledge on this makes it questionable. Moving onto the Roti with curry, curry was meh. Usually you get hit with an aroma of inviting spices but this one just taste like what I find in frozen aisles or prepackaged cube curry. Nothing stands out. What a let down.. on top of that, roti seems like it was frozen, not fresh and soggy. It tasted like a scallion pancake without flavor, non of that puff pastry crusty, buttery and flakey texture you'd get from real authentic places. Food quality is definitely lacking here. In addition, the portion is so small, so laughable. (Refer to pic) The chicken satay came wrapped in a white paper bag which should have been foil so that it doesn't create moisture and then dry out the chicken. Idk what's with their packaging but again, you can't even spare a container? Instead you just opt to use a ton of plastic to wrap everything. It took such a long time to unwrap everything because they wrap every single sauce container, plastic container, paper container in Saran Wrap. A bit unenvironmental. The peanut sauce that came with the satay wasn't at all delicious nor authentic. Usually I'd want a refill of that sauce, but I end up just skipping it in the end because it wasn't even all that great. Lastly the laksa was decent but nothing to write home about. I've also never really had a laksa without prawns before, this version came with weird types of tofu (one that had a purple filling which had no taste) and fried tofu wedges (which is fine). There were two fish balls. Honestly this laksa tastes just decent, definitely not a signature item in any realm. I've had better laksa in Irvine from a place not specializing in laksa. I guess as long as you don't expect it to be like Ipoh Kopitiam quality then it's OK.

We got the combination fried rice, pad thai with crispy pork, pineapple curry with chicken. Combination Fried Rice- The rice had a nice garlicky taste and it was loaded with pork, beef, chicken, and shrimp. Perfectly seasoned too. Pad Thai with Crispy Pork- The noodles were soft and chewy and the sauce was a lovely combination of sweet and tangy. The crispy pork added a later of texture and flavor. Pineapple Curry with Chicken- The curry was bursting with flavor! The pineapple chunks added a burst of sweetness and freshness to every bite. The chicken was nice and tender. Great meal overall!

Everything we ordered was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. The spices, freshness, and balance in the dishes were spot on. Each bite was satisfying and full of that bold, crave-worthy Thai taste. While the curry wasn't my personal favorite (the veggies were a bit undercooked for my taste), everything else more than made up for it. From the appetizers to the stir fry, everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Service was friendly and quick, and the owner/chef is always welcoming. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves Thai food. You can really taste the quality and heart in every dish!

Excellent food and great service!…read more Everything was delicious. We had the beef wrap roll which were in generous size and proportion. Beef was tender. The xialongbao was excellent a and generous in proportion. Although i did not have it, My family enjoyed the cold noodles with chili oil. The chili oil complemented the al dente noodles perfectly. I enjoyed the golden beef prime noodle soup. The Beef was tender, soup was light and had the right amount of seasoning and spicynness. I wasn't impressed with the scalion pancake--it felt a little dry, a bit bland and very thin compared to those found in other restaurants. However the crispy chicken was excellent and a go-to for kids. The kid loved the drinks here such as the strawberry yakuit and the strawberry matcha iced drink. The restaurant seems always busy. The service was attentive but expect longer wait times and response when it is busy. Restaurant was clean and decorative. We absolutely recommend this place.

Instead, we came when it just opened and over Memorial weekend, expecting most people to be out of town. They accept waitlist via Yelp. Even though there was a wait, at least it wasn't very long. We ordered beef wrap, scallion, xiao long bao, and golden prime beef noodle soup. The beef noodle soup definitely has a kick to it. It was a little too spicy for my daughter so she ate mostly the other three items. Their xiao long bao was very comparable to Din Tai Fung. Everything was very good. Normally, my daughter and I prefer the beef wrap with no cucumber, but we didn't even mind it at all as it gives a nice crunch and not too overpowering. We will definitely come back and try more items.
