I would give this 4.5 stars, so I rounded up to 5. First, the online ordering is awesome. Second, the smalls are the size of larges at other places. And chinese food is the best kind of leftovers!! From the time I placed my online order to the time the delivery guy rang my doorbell was 20 mins. I was amazed! Price wise, it was one of the cheapest places I've seen in this area. So disappointed!We were celebrating birthdays and decided to order from this place because they deliver. We did not receive everything we had ordered, the beef fried rice was burned, egg fo young was greasy. We understand mistakes happen because it was a large order but when we spoke to the person with whom we placed the order she was rude and actually hung the phone up twice. She said we would have to come there to fix the problem, the driver was not coming back. We paid for delivery and a tip. Tried to explain we were at work and only had 1hour. I go here mostly cause the lunch specials are super good and cheap. I usually go there with my cop buddies and order a bunch of options and we all share. My favs are the mongolian beef.. there will spice it to you order (I get extra spicy) and I love the BBQ pork and any of their soups are delicious. Their veggie egg foo young is really good also.. I usually scrape some gravy off of it, but other then that its awesome. I get white rice, but the fried rice seems popular also. Their smoothies are great... so all in all you can have a very good meal for a very fair price. read more

I give this restaurant FIVE stars! It is the BEST chinese me, my husband, my daughters, friends and family have EVER had. We are talking about people from california, chicago, wisconsin, indiana, we now live in Madison Wi and every time we go to or through Chicago we stop in and or pick up Hapiness, the lung fung kow is to die for. excellent potstickers, friend rice, chicken and brocolli, egg foo young, mu shu and great service, prices are low as well. Best Chinese in Bridgeport. Good food. Their Potsticker and Crab Ragoon are just heavenly. Also the combination for a appetizer is huge and really really good. For the main course I have had their General Tso's, Pad Thai, Chicken Chow Main, Sesame Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken and all have been fantastic. I am a huge fan of getting the most bang for the buck. This place always delivers on that. I have a few options closer to me by McKinley Park, but I do not mind heading out to Bridgeport for the mongolian beef lunch special, which is enough to usually feed two. Great place when you are looking for that greasy comfort Chinese food, although the menu is extensive enough to satisfy all tastes. Place might not be big enough to host large parties around lunch, considering that all the beighborhood cops eat there, but the service is pretty quick and the atmosphere very relaxed. read more

I will never order from this place again. Aside from being a little pricey they are rude and disrespectful. i ordered $60 worth of food for delivery, i was charged $3 for delivery and when the driver arrived i gave him $63 and he looked at me shaking his head telling me that why i wasnt giving him any tip and that i was cheap and he said that his boss didnt pay him delivery and i should tip him. All this was said to me while I had clients in my business and he walked away shaking his head. I called the restaurant to let them know what happened and all she said was "Ok thank you and hung up". I have lived down the street from them for a few years now. There serve, good, fresh reasonably priced Asian cuisine. Combination fried rice and bbq ribs are among my favorites. Great twist on a childhood favorite. Sweet and sour chicken was a mall food staple of mine. The sweet and sour combo (chicken and shrimp) at Happiness kept the great poofy fried nuggets and red sauce but added a tomato and green pepper that really added a special twist to this staple! Went there because, I heard the people in neighborhood really liked it. Big mistake, walked in and there was one couple dining in. Looked at the menu and wanted some Shanghai Chow Mein, bad choice I discovered when I got home. It wasn't swimming in a brown gravy, it was drowning in the gravy. There was so much gravy in the box, another quarter inch and it would have been over flowing out of the box. On top of that, the gravy was so salty and that made it hard to eat. Took the box of noodles to the sink and poured it into a strainer and began to rinse the noodles. Got the next day and tried them again, not as salty. But you still taste the saltiness in the food. The rudest people over the phone, for one they need a website so you wouldn't have to ask them over the phone about lunch specials! I can tell she gets aggravated and raises her voice because she doesn't speak much English. Well they should hire someone who can take orders over the phone so it can make their job easier! Not thrilled at all with my order. Tonight I ordered a small szechwan beef spicy, small, chicken lo mein, and 2 vegetable egg rolls. My boyfriend and I had split each meal and were both not impressed at all. The sauce on the Szechwan beef was bland and barely spicy. The mushrooms in the Szechwan tasted like they were from a can, because they tasted like metal. The chicken lo mein was way too salty. The chicken itself had no flavor- just tasted like plain boiled chicken. Both meals tasted very bland. Egg rolls were your basic fried egg rolls. I honestly don't understand why they are still in business. I've came here about 10 times ONLY because it is close to where I work, but I promised myself I won't go back anymore. I haven't wrote a review because I usually don't write reviews, especially negative ones, but I honestly dislike this restaurant with a passion. What pushed me to write a review: They have lunch specials (which cost $7 after tax, the norm is $5 for other places). They let you choose egg rolls or BBQ pork as an extra with w/e lunch special you order. I like their BBQ pork over the egg roll, but they always put the BBQ pork in the rice box (with a lot of BBQ sauce), and the BBQ sauce mixes with the lunch special dish. The sauces mix into an awkward salty yet sweet taste which I really don't like. Knowing that, I asked them to separate the BBQ pork from the lunch special and put it in its own container. To my disbelief, they said they can't do that. I paused for a second thinking there might have been some miscommunication, so I explained to them how the sauces mixing makes the lunch special taste weird. They said they understand, but they can't separate them, and recommended me to just have the egg roll instead. I asked why not, they said they don't know, but they just can't do it. This is what pushed me over the edge with them. Only explanation I can think of is that they're trying to save some rice boxes? Needless to say, no more Happiness for me! Food: I have tried 10+ different dishes from them (mostly rice box) and the ONLY one that I actually think is decent is the Mapo Tofu. All the other ones I've tried are garbage. They are 100% Americanized Chinese food. They give you a ridiculous amount of sauce with anything dish that requires sauce. So much sauce that you'd think you ordered some sort of stew/soup. If you order Beef and Broccoli over rice, you'd get Beef and Broccoli stew. It's just disgusting. I personally like traditional Chinese food, but you may like the extra sauce. They are CHEAP: Don't be fooled by the sauce, the actual food content they give you is sparse for the price. Everywhere else, the lunch specials are in the range of $4 - $5.50, this place is $7. Their regular rice boxes (which are about $5-6) are the small cube paper ones that is about half the size of a normal rice box that cost the same. And if you want to order the normal sized rice box, it's $9-11 (once again, it's $5 elsewhere). In addition, they are the ONLY Chinese restaurant I have ever seen that actually CHARGES you for TEA! On their menu, front and center, says "Additional $1.00 for pot of tea". I laughed pretty hard when I saw that. Anywhere else they give you a pot of tea just like how American restaurants serve water. You can tell from some restaurants the the owners are skimpy out on content while emptying customers' pockets. Service: Their service is slightly above average for a Chinese restaurant. Their front desk girls are underage (probably daughters), and they don't usually show any emotions. Kind of just a blank face taking your orders. Conclusion: What else can I say? This place simply sucks. I think I've been pretty unbiased towards them, it's just that I never actually got a good experience from this place. I'm theorizing that the only reason they are still in business is because they are the only Americanized Chinese "restaurant" in the neighborhood. There are some other Americanized Chinese places around there, but they are more of a "Pick up to go rice box" joints, no waitresses. Potsticker House is the only Chinese restaurant with waitresses, but they are traditional Chinese and not Americanized. read more

This restaurant was lacking in both atmosphere and flavor. I ordered the cashew chicken and the honey chicken. The cashew dish tasted like a poorly made pot pie filling. The honey chicken was drenched in an overly sweet pink sauce that seemed more akin to sweet and sour than any other honey chicken I've had. I liked that it was close and local, and the food came quickly. But that did not overcome the negative marks in food and overall feel. I likely won't be coming here again. read more

Have you ever sat down to eat and such high hopes and high expectations and then you try your soup, you taste a few bites of the fried chicken dumplings and you are in a bad place emotionally after indulging? Why is this sub par fake Chinese restaurant getting such high reviews? I have been to some of the BEST Chinese restaurants in China town in San Franciso, China town in Chicago and in New York city where you can actually enjoy authentic Chinese freshly prepared dim sum without the grease. Here they don't even bring you out chopsticks unless you ask for them. When I asked for a few slices of fresh lemons to go with my water she brought me out two measly slices that looked bad. Honestly it's a bunch of cheap ingredients and a lot of food but the taste is truly awful. I brought home some for my pets for tomorrow because after some of the noodles and tiny shreds of chicken I had my fill. I ordered a large bowl of chicken noodle soup but the broth was not prepared well it was just so so and the chicken slices were miniscule. What upset me was the price. I expected to pay a certain price for each item I ordered but apparently I ordered from an "old" menu and they changed their pricing system to at least $3.00 more per each item. I tried their chocolate smoothie but it tasted more like a slushy to me and very sugary. If you were to go to a more authentic Chinese restaurant food is prepared with more delicate ingredients and the last time I had authentic Chinese food it was Peking Duck with the best broth but this place was horrible. I guess the people who reviewed this restaurant and gave it such high ratings have not tasted true Chinese delicacies but I have and I was very disappointed with the taste of my dinner and the high cost. A good and honest restaurant won't do a "bait and switch" with you. Your bill should not be an UNHAPPY surprise but this bill of $15.00 or more dollars was not worth the price. If you are a picky eater like me don't waste your time here it's about QUANTITY of food and definitely not the Quality and or taste or authenticity of the true Chinese culture...Well prepared Chinese food is supposed to be HEALTHY for you but all I saw on the menu was FRIED and GREASY. I am very surprised that so many people have never had good Chinese food before. The meal I had from this restaurant could never be mistaken for good Chinese. The food is so bad I am posting this review with my plate in front of me. It tastes just awful -the eggroll is too salty, the orange chicken sauce tastes like a melted piece of candy, and the raw vegetables did not help. The chicken was fried too hard, and it was bland and tasteless. I literally ate 5 bites, but I should have stopped after the second bite confirmed that this food just sucks.
