Puppygram - 2x4 CAGES FOR BIG DOGS!!! INHUMANE!!!

    Puppygram

    (13 reviews)

Misleading Sales Tactics and Zero Breeder Transparency…read more I recently visited the PuppyGram location on Allisonville Road in Indianapolis and had a disappointing and concerning experience. The person I dealt with claimed to be an AKC judge, but when I started asking fair and basic questions about the breeder, the parents' health testing, and AKC lineage, he became extremely defensive. He refused to help me navigate the AKC website to verify the information on the parents. I did report his AKC judge claim to AKC. He used this title to try and gain trust but then acted suspicious when questioned. When I asked about health clearances (hips, eyes, heart--common for Golden Retrievers), there were none. No pedigree info, no OFA certifications, nothing. I was given AKC paperwork, but it was clear this was only to make the puppy seem more valuable. When I asked deeper questions, I was told "You don't need this dog," and pressured by fake urgency tactics like "Someone else just texted me about her." I later learned the breeder listed has no public track record of responsible breeding or health testing for Golden Retrievers. Please be cautious when buying from here. Do your research and don't let paperwork alone make you think you're getting a responsibly bred puppy.

I purchased a large bird, a Green Wing Macaw from here $5,500…read more We would come up every week to visit during weaning (about an hour and half drive one way). Their expected lifespan is about 80. We breed birds, but not him, he was a pet, my pet, my baby. Last May I had to put him down due to a disease, PDD. This is spread through saliva and fecal matter, but since he was housed alone none of my other birds could have gotten it from him, thankfully! Our vet who informed us he probably got it during weaning from a breeder using one pipet between birds during hand feeding times. I spoke with Bird Fever's Vet, Dr. Dahlhausen, along with the vet Hei Hei was being seen at, Med Vet Hillsboro, OH, that recommended we put him down at the age of 3! This was a humane decision and I (and both of our vets stand by it) in-spite of how much it hurts me. Hei Hei was a good bird, but they wont provide a replacement bird, or even a refund on the price. I can't seek legal recourse due to the "warranty" only lasting a year, regarding the sale. We did our due diligence we did the autopsy after he was put down, we were broken and it took me time to stop crying to let them know what had happened, and finally to reach out and ask for a refund or replacement bird for the one who was ill. Bird Fever's response to me was devastating and rude! The Audacity to tell me it wasn't a death sentence, and my terms were out of date, in-spite of me getting information directly from not only my own vet but one who is theirs as well! Mind you PDD can lay dormant for years, and is often found in the first 5 years an infected bird can have this disease and only be a carrier. This means their aviary is infected with PDD. This is exactly what Bird Fever told me: "First, I am sorry to read that this happened. As for the health guarantee, it is not a lifetime guarantee. We guarantee the birds to be healthy and free of disease at the time of purchase. You took the bird to an avian vet when it went home, and the vet signed off that the bird was healthy and free of disease. If there was a problem we would have been notified, then. Once the bird leaves the store, we cannot control what happens to the bird or what it is exposed to. As far as PDD is concerned, I am concerned that you went to a vet that is not knowledgeable in regard to the disease. Your terminology is outdated and most of your statements about it are incorrect. PDD is an expression of avian ganglioneuritis, or AGN. AGN is a neurological condition that expresses itself in different ways with PDD being one of the ways. The unfortunate part is if it was PDD, it is very treatable and is no longer a death sentence like it was years ago. There is no test for PDD as the only way to confirm the diagnosis is through histopathology. The only way to do that in a living bird is a crop biopsy. Unfortunately, I can't write everything there is about PDD in a Facebook message. I will gladly talk to you about this, or I can refer you to our Veterinarian for more information."

Then proceeded to go on her phone. My hearts broken I fell in love with one of their animals and saw it before closing where the 2 employees REFUSED to let me get the animal with 0 reasoning. They closed up the store and I went home but today I woke up at 8:00 and was waiting outside of the store until they opened at 9:00 determined to get my dream animal. Walk into the store and it's gone. Very been so sad and disappointed. I'm confused how and why it's gone when they closed up as soon as I walked out and I was their first customer of the day. I talked to their boss and got 0 explanation just got told "Sorry for your experience" and that he can reach out when they stock back up in the animal I want. But that's not the point. I was refused service for NO REASON and extremely hurt and saddened by how they acted with me. I'm almost 100% convinced it had to do with racism. There was 2 white customers and the staff was helping them with a smile but when it came to me they refused to even speak to me and went immediately to their phone. I will never come back here again. I miss what I thought was going to be my baby (the animal) and now it's gone :(.

The vet assistant looked mean and wasn't very nice handling our dog, she let her rear back and almost flipped on her back, luckily she didn't fall backwards. The vet lady wasn't very friendly either. They did our one dog and said they couldn't do the 2nd one because she was trying to get away, they wouldn't let us help calm her and said she has a fever anyways (how did they get a temp if she wasn't cooperating). So we went to another place which was way closer, and everyone one was sooo friendly, they let us help and miraculously our dogs didn't have a fever-will never go to Vetco again. And Petco and Vetco should look into the vet and vet assistant for complaints, because I can't imagine we are the first ones complaining. The check out guy at the front of the store was very nice though.

I am possibly looking to get back into the aquarium hobby after 30+ years since I last was into it…read more So I looked up shops in Yelp and The Reef jumped out, especially since I was going to be stopping by Sullivan's Hardware today to pick up something. The place was really busy, but I was able to speak to a very nice young lady named Evelyn (I believe... I'm extremely bad with names, but think that was it. If not Apologies). She really took the time to help me catch up on some of the changes in the hobby and focus in on somethings I think I may like. I have more research to do but will definitely be back when it comes to make some critical decisions and buy some of the key components such as aquarium itself, substrate, filtration, etc. Really appreciate the time she took with me. I'm not an expert to be able to "grade" The Reef like some may be able to, but I can speak to how they treated me today. The Reef seemed to have a depth of products to help someone just starting out at a small scale, to the very experienced hobbyist looking to go to the next level or the advanced aquarium keeper who needs to pick up some specific item. (I took the pics to help me remember some of the items I was looking into but figured they would be good for this review as well)
