This time I ordered the chicken & fruit salad, chicken on the side (not to eilt the salad@) & raspberry dressing...and NO ONION. What the girl on the phon insisted we ordered was NO dressing. We got 2 different dressings, EXTRA onions & hot chicken on cold salad (fine if you're eating it right away). Their delivery order system is a BIG FAILURE!!! read more

I've been here several times now and I can't believe that I didn't write my review, yet! The food is very, very good and what I appreciate even more is the fact that it has flavor! It's not bland, at all. I know some people may not have liked what they ordered and may be less inclined to enjoy the food, but I for one like to try a place multiple times to get a comprehensive feel for the menu. They always throw specials or new creations up on their board and you can tweak your plate any way you like. The location is small, but it's cute and you get really good service, from everyone. They are super friendly, always have a smile on their face, keep your drinks full, and come and check on you. Even the cooks will look over and smile at you. They have a lot of regulars who come in and sit at the counter and chit chat with the staff. They also speak to other patrons, which I like because it gives it a nice comfortable atmosphere. I usually go for breakfast, because that's my favorite there, but I did grab lunch one day and it was equally as tasty. Because I'm there so often, they have come to know me and my neighbor. Even though we try to enjoy different things on the menu, sometimes we stick to the usual and they know those orders by heart. These people work really hard to get that good food out and it's consistent. I have never not liked something that I've ordered. One of my favorite dishes is the Carnitas Rancheras! The flavors of this dish are so hard to describe, but if you are a pork lover, you must try it! Another is the Louisiana Hot Links and Eggs. That has consistently been one of my most favorite dishes! We also order a side of grilled, whole jalapeno peppers. They come out so good...my mouth is salivating just thinking about it! They lightly season it and they are delicious! You'll see a lot of tourists, police officers, locals, port workers, etc. in here. There is only street parking and in the mornings there is usually no problem finding a place to park. I was in San Pedro taking my dog to the groomers a block over. We asked my groomer for a breakfast/brunch recommendation and said there was some diners the next block.. so we decided to check it out. The reviews on Yelp seemed good for Happy Diner, and we found it as soon as we turned the corner. This is a small diner (or seemingly so), with extra tables in the back.. I'm not exactly sure how big the place is. But in a few minutes we were seated, and I could see everyone working hard getting the tables situated and settled. Service - 5* - Our server was on top of it, even when we needed a few more minutes to get our order ready. The gentleman who seated us (seemed like a busser) was quick to get a table cleared for us and seated us as soon as he could. He seemed to pay attention to the tables and even grabbed our bill to hand to the cashier before our server was able to notice. Food - 5* - I was pleasantly surprised. There is an extensive menu, but an additional one written in chalk near the front door that has other items that may not necessarily be on the menu. I chose the corned beef hash and eggs, knowing I may not finish (typically it is too salty for my palate)--BUT, the ones they had here were perfect. It looked as if they had put their own potatoes in, it was not as salty as it usually was, and it was paired perfectly with their country potatoes and my over easy eggs.. One word: yum! My friend ordered a ribeye steak and eggs and he was pleasantly surprised by how good the steak was, considering it was cooked on a flat top--and they perfectly cooked it medium rare as requested. Overall - 5* - I absolutely loved this place, and am curious to try the rest of the stuff on their menu (it is huge and a ton of variety from Hawaiian to Mexican food). Found Happy Diner, and boy was their Breakfast Burrito awesome! Phoned in the order and was ready by the time I was there paying. The Breakfast Burrito was cut in half for me (togo order), with either a side of beans or Spanish rice. The rice was stale but it wasn't about the rice. The service was also good. Cannot recommend this place until they update their prices on their online menu to reflect what you will actually be charged. Over $16 for a burger and fries puts them on the higher side, and their burgers aren't that great. I get inflation, but that's just too much. Maybe if it was closer to the $10 mark, it'd be worth it. Was hiking out in Palos Verdes and my friend and I decided to stop somewhere for breakfast afterwards. I picked this place because it was on the way home and had great reviews. It's a decent little breakfast spot, the front doesn't stand out too much so you might miss it if you're just passing through. The decor is simple. It's not an extra large place, no outdoor seating, there are some Flat screen TVs around . We were seated all the way in the back, in a quiet, closed (as in Windows or scenery) room. I didn't enter the restroom but my friend said it was tiny. The service was impeccable! Veronica was our server and she was amazing! So attentive and sweet and funny. She was truly genuine and sincere. Can there be Veronica's everywhere ??? The food was ok. It wasn't bad! But I like my cuisine a little more exotic. I ordered a vegetable omelette and it was ok. We were in the area to watch a show and planned to have dinner prior. My boyfriend found this place on Yelp. I'd like to say this rating and review is based on only my experience. I really like the variety of dishes on the menu it was really hard to decide. I love Mexican breakfast so I chose chilaquiles with carne asada. The chilaquiles tortillas looked like they were made from chips possibly made there. They were crispy which I liked. The chile was okay didn't look like it was made fresh. It was all topped with carne asada, eggs, and cheese. I also got a side of beans which was good. I don't know that I would order that again it was just not as authentic as I would like. On the first day we arrived in this town, Hubby and I came to this Diner because it's near the hotel we're planning on staying and also we just couldn't look for another place to eat because we were hungry. I couldn't order anything else other than a veggie burger but after checking with the waitress, she recommended a turkey burger instead, so I went with her recommendation. Her name's Maira and she's such a lovely lady, we were treated nicely at this Diner. I would recommend the place for breakfast than for lunch. We did come back a couple of times for breakfast. Once we came here for breakfast and I left my purse at the Diner and after almost near the hotel and realized what I did, I ran back and Maira welcomed me back by saying "I got your purse here" and that was near her by the counter instead of at the table that I left. I was so thankful for this. She's super observant and she saved my purse and my life! Another good thing about this Diner is that it opens early, 6 AM. For us who are up early, this is the place to be. We also met Maira's sister, Selena, who works here when Maira takes off. We also met Roman, he could be the manager or owner of the place. He's very nice, just like his crew. We noticed the regulars who walked in that know the staff and called them by their name. It's a small place with great service. I don't know how anyone can leave a good review for this place. I ordered chile verde omelette and it had 5 TINY chunks of meat, it was just egg with green sauce at that point, MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT! I also ordered chicken friend steak for my husband and it was flatter than a damn piece of paper! The breading was thicker than the meat itself!!! Like what??!! My brother liked his chicken enchilada omelette but he did say the portion was rather skimpy. I paid $65 for THREE basic entrees, that doesn't sound right at all and honestly, I wouldn't ever eat here again after this unless they somehow made it up to me because this was a complete awful tasting rip off! I love diners and I'm so happy I found this little hole in the wall. Reading the menu, I found a burger called "Port Police stuff in jalapeno Burger" which sounds completely dirty. So, of course, I ordered it and was warned it was very spicy. It was very spicy! However, not overpowering, but enough that all the flavors melted together perfectly and the French fries helped reduce the spicy affects. The staff seemed very nice and the hostess gave me a coffee for the road and helped me locate a restaurant I was looking for earlier. Very happy with this place and would recommend. read more

I want to give them a good review. The burger was good and the staff seemed friendly. Though the ambiance didn't have much going for it. But I wasn't expecting some sandwich shop to have a live band and floors clean enough to eat off of lol you go to a restaurant like this just for the food. That being said their online prices and in store prices do not match AT ALL. It's borderline false advertising. I decided to not make a big deal of it. But California law does state that the customer is entitled to the lowest advertised price by the business. So technically anybody who comes in here is able to demand the online menu price, and by law they would have to charge you that price. If these guys wanna avoid potentially huge fines. They really need to update their online prices/menus to reflect the current pricing. If someone reports them for the price inconsistencies they could get into a LOT of trouble. I can't give them a good review when they're essentially drawing in customers with the promise of a 9$ burger that turns out to actually be a 16$ burger. read more
