Great little local diner After two cups of decent coffee, still didn't have a true breakfast. So I went to the closest place that offered some breakfast fare and this place popped up. It's a very small diner lodged in the middle of two other buildings in the same strip. The chef asked me to sit anywhere and I took a seat in the middle of their hallway seating. Their menu is extensive, going over many dishes and styles. Flustered with choice, I asked if they had an avocado toast and they mentioned they had one as a special. I ordered that and waited. This specific spot has a strong local focus. Lots of regulars funneled in and took their normal seats. Lots of friendly banter and casual conversation between the staff and customers. You get a sense of the community with this place, which is a nice touch. For my avocado toast in LA, took a bite and was underwhelmed. Wasn't bad, avocado was fresh and there was a good crisp to the bread and a good amount of garlic. Eggs were seasoned and runny, and as a breakfast dish it was done well. But it wasn't amazing. It was good, just not stellar. It's clear that they do good work, and they got a dedicated crowd so their consistency is on point. But this did not wow me, it was just a well executed avocado toast. Price was high for the dish, that was expected though. Staff was great, food was good, just not much to want me to rave about it. It's a better breakfast spot than the hotels in the area, good if you're in the area but not trek worthy.
My husband and I did a back to back cruise and decided to take a walk to this restaurant after we disembarked and before we boarded again. A friend joined us, and it was about a 20-minute walk from the cruise port. We shared the Corned Beef Hash, which came with two eggs, home fried potatoes, and toast. Our friend ordered a Biscuit and Gravy and eggs. Everything was absolutely delicious! In fact, our friend stayed on the ship for another cruise and went back to Happy Diner again. We will definitely go back again. I highly recommend stopping by if you are ever in the area!
Visiting my brother from Boston who told me to try the Happy Diner. I was pleasantly surprised. Extensive menu. Friendly and courteous staff. Most importantly, the food! I decided to try something I have never seen before... a Chile Relleno omelette. One of the best omelettes I have ever had! Take a look at the photos and decide for yourself. Great dining experience at a reasonable price.
Oh boy, where do I begin? I was here, just recently having lunch with my mom before our cruise. The service was very friendly, welcoming, and had a very homey environment around it. My mom ordered the soup of the day, while I have their biscuit and gravy scramble. Everything, was worth every bite. If I'm ever in this area again, I will definitely be coming back. Enough said.
SO good! My husband and I shared an Azteca Omelette with corn tortilla and potatoes. The carnitas is made in house (the sauces are too). So moist and flavorful. The salsa had the right amount of heat and lovely texture. Just a hint of cheese. The cactus added a different texture and mild flavor. It was amazing! And so was the service. Our server even brought our order out on two separate plates without being asked to. Everyone was so nice. When we go to diners we love sitting inside...and there was awesome energy here. Great breakfast!
Stopped in for breakfast and had a really good experience. Parking lot is a little tricky because it always seems to be packed. I ordered the veggie omelette with hash browns, corn tortilla, and a glass of orange juice. Everything was fresh and cooked just right. The omelette was packed with vegetables and topped with Jack cheese. It wasn't overly greasy, which I appreciate. Hash browns had a nice crisp on the outside and the corn tortilla was a great touch. Orange juice tasted freshly squeezed. Service was friendly and quick, and the place had a relaxed, local feel. Definitely a solid spot for breakfast if you're in the area.
Cute little hole in the wall place in San Pedro. They have indoor and sidewalk seating but super busy when my coworker and I came by. It was super busy so we got our food to go. Prices were decent for the area. I paid $10.90 for a BLT and side of fries. Food came out pretty fast as well.

I ordered Biscuit and gravy , the chef needs to taste his creations because mine was tasteless flour stuff. It was apparent that no bacon anything flavored the gravy , the biscuits were tasteless too even after doctoring it with Hot sauce / pepper and salt that can be saved. Something so simple to make also so simple to not care. Horrible
I loved this place! It's like a hole in the wall with amazingly good food and lots to choose from. They serve a lot of breakfast food, burgers, salads, pasta, and Mexican food. We found this place by accident. We were at the Los Angeles Cruise Port but was there super early and couldn't check into our cruise. With time to kill and stomachs growling, we asked around if there was a place we can grab a quick bite to eat. All the locals pointed us to this restaurant. So, we decided to make the 20 min or about a mile, walk to the diner. I was kind of glad we were walking because I needed the exercise before getting ready to binge eat on the cruise. We got to the diner and I was surprised how many great options they have available. I looked around to other patrons and all their food looks so good. I couldn't decide so I finally settled on menudo and Chilaquiles, both were super good. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely make this a must to stop in. My cousins liked it so much, they went back after the cruise!
This is your classic little diner. Nothing crazy. Food is solid and the coffee keeps flowing. I don't even remember what I had but I think they had a special on breakfast tacos or something like that.
The Happy Diner Restaurant crew had their food vqn and serving at the Legends Car Club Custom Car show held at Point Fermin historic park in San Pedro California and they had great food ! My family had Happy Diner cater a few parties before, so I knew the quality and care I was going to receive. They were professional all the way, they detailed their menu and services, gave me a fair price and delivered on quality, friendly service and great taste. They transformed my backyard party into a fancy yet casual celebration. They made me feel as if I was the boss, I cannot express enough my gratitude for Roman and his crew. Did a quick visit to Battleship Iowa museum down at the Harbor of San Pedro with my family. After walking around the ship for a couple of hours, we were starving. Food offerings on board were limited. A quick yelp search turned me to Happy Diner, about four blocks from the museum on Centre Street in San Pedro (a 15 minute walk, although we drove due to mobility issues). They were in their last hour of service, but were friendly and welcoming. It was diner food, but honestly, hit the spot in that moment. I got the chili, and it was good. Pretty good spot for breakfast. We arrived on a Saturday morning before 9am and it wasn't packed. Which was good because there isn't a ton of inside seating. The hostess was friendly when we walked in. We sat at a table in a the back. There are a couple of TVs back there, so that was nice. We ordered the Country Scrambler and the Denver Omelette with potatoes and an English muffin. The portions were huge! My country scrambler was good, but lacked a little bit of flavor. The gravy was pretty bland. My mom enjoyed her omelette. Service was quick. The employees were friendly and the coffee was continuously full. Would be back if we are in the area. read more

Cute restaurant with seating inside and outside. The buser immediately took our drink order and brought them over. Our waitress was very nice and took our order shortly after. Food was so, so good. We saw a lot with the breakfast burritos and my husband said he knew why cause it was great. I had the machaca scramble and it was so good. Would definitely come back read more

Let me start by saying it is rare these days to get Superb service and Great tasting food . Our waitress I believe her name was Maggie was very polite and informative on the specials of the day . Let alone her patients as the kids in our group ordered. And the food was delicious. read more
We had an early morning in the area and we decided to go this this place for breakfast. It's a small hole in the wall restaurant very diner style with a bar to eat at as well as tables in the back and a seating area outside. It's clean enough. We were greeted quickly and served coffee. The menu is pretty expansive with lots of options for lunch or breakfast. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. I got an omelet and my hubs got a breakfast burrito. The portion size was good, but I felt like the food just just ok. Diner food. Don't look for anything too impressive IMO read more

It's a hole in the wall, but the food is awesome and the staff are great! Due to the pandemic, they have a really nice outdoor patio set up. Sunny, but umbrellas available. I ordered the fresh berry waffles, and I was not disappointed. There was a pile of fresh banana, blueberries, and strawberries. No compote or previously frozen fruit here. Like I said, indoor seating consists of small tables squeezed into a small space. Even the restroom is strangely laid out. It's a tiny, narrow hallway. Old building, old school design. There's plenty of nearby metered street parking. If you don't mind walking, the next block over is free street parking. read more
As its name implies, Happy Diner has the feeling of entering in to a truly old school diner. Once you go through the front door, it feels like one of those places from times gone past. Diner is not just describing the general atmosphere, it's also describing the food. The food here is very traditional Americana but it is served with a flair. It is all very good with nice presentation. Since the pandemic, they have construction a very nice dining deck in front of the restaurant, as well. This is always my favorite area to eat at this restaurant. The tables are well spaced and it is a very inviting dining area. As stated, the food here is very good. In fact, it is one of those surprisingly good places. Most diners and coffee shops don't really take the time and the energy to do their food right. This is not the case with the Happy Diner, the food here is done very well, using very fresh ingredients. One of the nice things about this place is that they open early in the morning. This is a great thing, if you want to come in and have an early breakfast as most places don't open until around 9:00 AM. Overall, if you're in the San Pedro area this is a great place to grab breakfast lunch or dinner. read more
I LOVE diners... and this place hits the spot :) Good vibes. Friendly service. And food came out quickly considering the full dish I ordered. Went for some good ol' breakfast, and it was the perfect. Eggs, potatoes, delicious sausages and (not burnt) toast. The server even when went out of her way to provide me some salsa! Btw, salsa came in clutch. Couldn't ask for more. So good omg! Literally the best breakfast in South Bay! I order from here a lot through Uber eats and they always make it to order! Exactly what I ask for! Thanks Happy Diner! Best home style food for the price! Delicious and great service! Next time I'm in San Pedro I'll try the diner inside! Don't forget to try the salsa it's amazing! Lastly I just would like it if they could ditch the plastic containers since they melt with the hot food. read more

Oh hell I haven't left a review. Happy diner in San Pedro, Ca Google it lol. Right where everything is at, shops and restaurants, also known as "little Italy" great spot, great freaking price!!!!! Great food! Great service, great everything! What can I say. Park in the meter all around, cheaper than San Fernando valley for sure. Check it out when you're in San Pedro and all the great shops, bars, and other eateries y'all. Thank you read more

Ordered the Country scrambler... tasteless and the bottom of the potato and biscuit was burnt. I haven't tried anything else here yet but I'm not in a hurry to go back. read more
