Came here for the first time for a very late dinner and it was yummy! You pick out your food, they'll weigh it and depending on the weight, that's how much you'll pay for. The 1st section is veggies, 2nd section is seafood, and 3rd section is the meats. 4th section is selecting the soup and I got the sweet & sour tomato soup. Then they'll cook it and bring the bowl out to you. There is a section/table for condiments. The soup was super hot and tasty! I would get that soup flavor again when I come back. Once you're done eating, you go to the front and pay. While we were eatting, they came back and refilled our waters. There's a free large parking lot outside. I would come back here again!
I have been waiting for a malatang place to open near me FOREVER. So when I found out about this place, I dragged my entire family there. The Mala broth is so comforting and spicy and I put way too many things in but somehow I ended up finishing everything. The sauce bar is so good, I love making my sauce also really spicy and creamy with sesame pasta and all the fixings. My kids also really liked it though I also put in way too much stuff in theirs (it's really hard to stop yourself!) and so we had a lot of leftovers. Definitely recommend this place for a nice comforting meal.
Fist time trying this malatang and I am actually pleasantly surprised how tasty it is! The price is dependent on weight...so the amount of the ingredients you get from the bar. Lots of choices are available; once you got everything selected, pick one flavor out of 4 choices of broths, then the kitchen will bring it back to you cooked in the broth you chose! I really enjoyed the food and it makes me feel great in a cold winter day! Staff is friendly; but like most malatang places, don't expect much service. Yet again, we go there for the food and we got great food
Delicious! The restaurant itself is small and tight but still a great spot nonetheless. You have to check in via the Yelp waitlist on the iPad and wait before going to the front to pick out your items. I came on a Friday around 6:30pm and it was busy but not too crazy. We ordered and then our food came out within 10 minutes which was nice. Sauce bar was small but clean and stocked. I got the bone broth in medium because they don't have spicy anymore, but the soup was delicious. Pricing was fair as well for most Malatang spots. They had lots of good options but maybe not as big as other Malatang spots I've been to but had the necessities. Plenty of noodle options. Service was good, the staff came around a few times to refill our waters. We then paid in cash because their system was down and people had to wait to pay in card. The staff were nice and friendly so I enjoyed this spot overall!
Our go to hot pot spot! Lots of parking as it is part of a complex. Whenever we enter we are greeted and when we came the first few times someone would ask if we had been here before and if not, they would explain how it works! There is usually not much of a line. We grab our bowls and fill it up with all our favorite toppings. I love that they have multiple tofu and vegetable options and their tomato broth is my favorite! Once you are done choosing your ingredients, they weigh your bowl and give you a table number to sit at. They offer glasses of water and there is a sauce station which has items such as garlic, oyster sauce, chili, sesame sauce, etc. There is a lot of seating inside so never have had to really wait for a table. Once your pot is ready, they bring it to your table and enjoy! Once you are done eating, you pay at the front. We will keep coming back!
They have lamb! They have space for party of 8! It's reasonably priced! The staff speaks canto!! What else do I need! The first malatang (SF) I've been to did not have much seating. It was too good for its own good. People had to fight for seating. And it seemed overpriced. The second malatang I've been to (Roseville) was good. Though this place has much cheaper options and their dry pot alternatives were actual dry pots instead of sizzling beef bbq. The third one (Davis) was like the second one but not as good and with the same problems. Tho the very first hot pot alternative I'd try years ago also in Davis was not that bad. Tho once again, you can alter the price based on weight. So this place is so far the winner bc of preferential selection leading to the proper price. This place literally allows you to get what you pay for. Soups were yummy. And be careful they can be spicy tho it was fine with me. Solid A
Stopped by this Malatang spot and had a great experience. It's located in the Oferts Center, so there's a parking lot, which is very convenient. We waited briefly to get assigned a seat, and then it's a grab-and-go style where you pick any items you want for your bowl. They had a huge variety, with different types of meats, noodles, fish balls, veggies. Basically everything you'd expect from a hot pot spot. Once your bowl is ready, they weigh it and cook it in the broth of your choice in the back. I went with the beef bone broth in mild, which turned out spicier than I expected. They also have a small sauce bar. The food came out quickly, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout. Overall, this is a solid spot for malatang with a great selection and fast service. Definitely would come back!
Surprisingly good! It's our fist time at YGF, the servers were super nice and explained how the process works and it's $14.99 a pound. They have a pretty good selection of tofu, veggies, meats and balls. Kind of wish they had more broth selections but the beef broth mild was really good! Had a great beef flavor and was mildly spicy , it was perfect! The sauce bar was small but had everything you need such as garlic, sesame sauce, vinegar, soy sauce etc. definitely a good first experience and we'll be back! Total for 4:$80
I LOVEEE YGF! This is my favorite location so far that i've tried in the bay, as they also offer grilled skewers! You can order them via the QR code at the table. They were just as flavorful and delicious as the malatang. My go-to is the beef bone broth medium spicy. It has tons of flavor and the ingredients soak the broth up so well. They also have a dry pot option which is quite yummy too, but I personally prefer the broth option at this chain more. Service was 10/10 so nice and attentive. Felt very welcoming and also helpful! Place is also nice and clean with lots of tables.
Brought the family here for a weeknight dinner. Kids walked the ingredient line with us to pick out everything they wanted to put into their soup base. We placed our bowls on the scale (minimum 0.8 lbs), top added a tofu to one of the underweight bowls, picked our broths, and then were sent to our tables to wait for our prepped food. While waiting, we made our dipping sauces with most of us opting for a sesame base. Adults got the Sichuan Spicy Hot Pot. It was good - much more spicy than numbing. Kids got the Classic Bone Broth as it was one of three non-spicy bases (the others being tomato and fish maw/chicken). It's a nice neutral soup base with some richness and umami. When the kids were done, I drank quite a bit of their remaining soup base. There's also an option to order skewers and other things. The portions are really small, but the pricing is reasonable which is conducive to trying a lot of different things. I liked the lamb skewers, chives, and bun with egg (sliced mantou dipped in egg and sugar). Overall, it was a fun experience with a ton of variety to please a wide range of people. Very reasonably priced as well.
YGF has a huge selection of items you can place in your hot pot, more so compared to its closest neighbor, Zhangliang malatang. I was impressed that there was crawfish, so many different types of noodles, and pea shoots (which are one of the more expensive veggies!). Service was quick and price reasonable. I ordered the mild beef bone broth but it was still pretty spicy. The broth itself was very salty and made my mouth feel very dry and chalky, which is why I have to deduct one star from the review. However it was still flavorful and I liked the quality of the ingredients. Next time I would probably try a different broth to see if it has a better mouthfeel.
Came here on a Tuesday when they opened at 11:30am . This place filled up quick. I ordered the classic bone soup and my friend ordered the chicken soup. It's my first time to this malatang. I have been to the one at Fallon for a few times. This place is bigger and more spacious. Food choices are about the same. The minimum weight for this place was only 0.8lb vs 1lb at the other one. Even though this place is big, it's very noisy! The music was loud. I could barely hear my friend when she's right in front of me! The food was ok. Soup was not as creamy and milky. Fish was not too fresh. Overall, it's ok to me. Not sure if I will be back.
Wow love this YGF! Parking is easy in the strip mall lot, and the people behind the counter are SUPER friendly! Just don't come at peak rush hour cos you gotta wait, it's that popular! The place is nice and clean and quite comfy. We loaded up on veg and seafood, and added noodles. The lady weighed it and mine was about 1.5 lbs and hers a little over 1 lb. Total was just about $40 with tax and tip. Got the dipping sauce and waited about 5 mins for them to bring it out pipping hot! Slurped it up to the last drop and she brought home her remnants for dinner haha!

YGF Malatang & Hotpot opened 2 years ago where 101ShabuShabu was. Assumed interior has been customized to accommodate a self serve hot pot eatery. Got a plastic bowl & a tong to choose amongst a large selection of shaved meats, seafood balls, seafood portions, and lots of veggies in a L-shaped display case. selected a broth among 6. Hearsay dry mala pot not spicy. Got medium spicy classic herbal beef bone broth @15.99/lb. Just a bit of Szechwan spiciness, not too hot. Weight: 1.09 lb. At register. Broth et al ready in 10 minutes. Always had constant refills of water. The spiciness may have disappointing but not the broth. 8 hours of boiling bones had an impact on the soup. Drank it all eventually. 4.5 stars: Worthy:YMMV. Quantity: .8 lb. Minimum. Usual weight. Quality: big assortment to choose from. All fresh. Some Seafood may have been previously frozen. Service: very good. Payment on mobile handsets, not counter. Parking close by difficult. More parking spaces at back of building. read more

Excellent service that's fast and attentive! This malatang spot offers a huge variety of meats and vegetables, plus I love that they have skewers available too. It's $14.99 per pound, which feels fair for the quality and selection. The beef broth was rich and flavorful, definitely satisfying. They also have a sauce bar, and the servers frequently come around to refill water, which I really appreciate. I ordered the chicken heart skewer with BBQ powder, and the seasoning was tangy but not too much. The only downside was that the tables felt a bit close together, which made it harder to have personal space, especially for two people. Overall, a tasty and enjoyable experience! read more

Fun self serve malatang hot pot! YGF offers a large variety of items that you can choose from. The best part is that you get to customize everything to your liking. Once you are done creating your bowl, you choose a soup base and pay by the pound. We got the beef bone broth and classic bone broth, both of which were delicious! We came on the afternoon of Thanksgiving and the workers were definitely hustling! I would highly recommend giving this a try if you are a hot pot fanatic! read more

My family loves hot pot. This was a new place for us. You select and place all your ingredients in a bowl. Good variety of veggies, seafood and meat. The bowl price goes by weight. Then you select what broth of soup you would like. You go to your table and the friendly staff will bring out your hot prepared soup bowl to your table. This really hits the spot on a chilly evening or your soup cravings. read more
A nice late night Asian option for Dublin. Like most Malatang locations, you grab what ingredients you want into your bowl, which prices by weight and broth selection. Unlike other locations, you can order skewers (ACE bbq) to your table through a QR code menu. The beef bone broth (medium spicy) tasted similar and was priced similar to other Malatang locations. The skewers were also priced similar and tasted similar to other Chinese BBQ locations, with the amount of skewers per order balanced by the actual amount of food per skewer. Seating was pretty open, though that might vary depending on when you arrive. Bathroom was fairly clean. read more

Very good and tasty. Be careful if you're really hungry because the price goes by the weight. It's $14.99-16.99 depending which broth per pound. There is a big variety of veggies, seafood, noodles, and meat to choose from. The soups are all very good to choose from and they come out really hot. We didn't get enough broth at first but the staff brought out a big bowl for us to refill from. The place can get loud in there and busy when it's a cold day too. read more

This place was so good !!! I love malatang and was so excited to come here for lunch . They have a lot more options here that I have not seen at other places like fish noodle ( fish cake noodle ) , cheese fish cake , a bunch of different tofu noodles / fried tofu , and a lot of other items that I have not seen before . I wish they offered the bone broth in extra spicy but they do have a sauce bar on the side to add your own sauce . They have two different dry pots here a chili oil dry pot or a peanut based dry pot . It's easy to end up getting a lot of food because I wanted to try everything so ended up with 1.47 lbs of food , it's $14.99 per lb. I think it's a good deal because I love all the variety ! Great place to come for malatang , super clean and a lot of variety ! read more

Food: 4/5 They have a good variety of tofu, meats & veggie to choose from, which is great. Cleaniness: 3/5 The only downside is that you have to put your own bowl after finishing even you already put tip. They share space with other businesses, so it feels like the area isn't very well-maintained. The water and utensil section doesn't seem very clean either. They do have a chopstick dispenser which is pretty cool, but personally, when eating in a food court, I prefer single-use chopsticks rather than using a machine. read more
I love the fact that so many Malatang places have opened up around the Dublin Pleasanton area and now that there are 3 to choose from and that I have tried them all out I wanted to review them to help others out in picking the right one for them. In general they all offer the same format of meal where you select ingredients from a large buffet style table to gather in a large bowl, select a broth option, optionally create your own dipping sauce and then your bowl of broth and ingredients are brought out to your table to enjoy. So to compare the three chains it really comes down to three things: broth options/quality, selection of ingredients and extras. BROTH: YGF was the first one to open and I believe is the best one simply for one reason and that is they have the best tasting broth. The main house broth option which is the Beef Bone Broth with mild and med spicy options has the best depth and complexity with a deep rich beefy and blend of spices flavor that is unmatched by the other places. I enjoy a good spice kick but would definitely start with mild as their med spicy has quite a bit of heat to it. If you do not want spicy at all then I would say step down to one of their other non spicy options such as classic bone both or the fish maw soup broth which still have a great taste and the same depth to them. The dry mix option is pretty good as the ingredients are cooked and then topped with a nice dry sauce mix instead of cooked in a broth. It is actually an amazing sauce on its own sometimes I ask for that sauce as a dipping option with my regular broth so give that a try! They recently expanded from 4 to 7 options now so there are more to choose from for particular tastes but I would definitely recommend the house special Beef Bone Broth, mild spicy as that is my go to. INGREDIENTS: Of the three places I would say YGF has better overall quality of ingredients across the board with their selection of meat slices, veggie freshness and seafood maintenance. They swap out and fill pretty regularly and make sure things are neat and cleaned up so that there is not much cross contamination from customer's messy actions. Their beef and seafood balls also have the best texture and bouncy chew and I appreciate that they offer pure options with no gimmick fillings. They do offer stuffed ingredient balls as options though if you enjoy those type of things. The only issue I have is that they tend to either swap out items or replace them with other options so whether this is due to availability or mixing things up it sucks when you go and expect a certain ingredient that you love but its not there for whatever reason. I have gone many times and see a different mix of ingredients almost half the time so I wish they would be a little more consistent there. The tofu options in particular appear to change every time I go in. I guess you get a chance to experience a larger variety of ingredients this way but sometimes I just want exactly what I wanted the previous time and sometimes its just not possible. EXTRAS: The sauce bar is pretty standard and probably the weakest part of YGH so dont expect a ton of options but you get your base ingredients to create your dipping sauce. The last time I went in (9/13/25) they did not have the sesame oil out so I had to ask for a bowl to complete my sauce which I thought was weird. Drink options are pretty standard and they dont offer a complimentary one like some of the other chains but still have a decent selection. The best extra here is that there is a bbq skewer menu that is available every day after 5PM and I would highly recommend grabbing a few to try as their skewer seasoning and preparation is better than most standalone skewer places. A few items that standout are their chicken bone and intestine skewers. Again these items can swap around so scan the qr code to see whats available to order. The best part of YGF is their outstanding customer service. They usually have a large staff that you can ask questions and make requests for almost anything and are always accommodating and polite. They are always walking around and checking in on the customers to see if they need anything, water refills, napkins etc. Definitely the best service of the 3 chains. The place is laid out well with a lot of seating but all are loose tables and no booth style seats and the place is sort of drafty as the main doors let a lot of wind in. Otherwise its bright and well laid out. In summary I feel the YGF is currently the best of the 3 chains due to superior broth, skewer options and great service. YGF: Broth 5/5 Ingredients 4/5 Extras 4/5 Zhangliang: Broth 2/5 Ingredients 3/5 Extras 2/5 Mala Town: Broth 4/5 Ingredients 3/5 Extras 3/5 Go try it out if never have experienced a proper malatang meal especially on a cold evening during the fall and winter months as its the perfect meal to warm up with! This is a hot pot place where you pick the ingredients that you would like in your hot pot, then it's weighed. The price you pay is based on the weight. It was $14.99/lb. They have a good selection of items to choose from. Then when your ingredients get weighed, you can choose the soup base you would like (out of the 4 different options). They cook it all together for you and the bring it out to your assigned table. I chose the Beef Bone Broth - Mild Spicy. That was a big mistake for me who can't handle spice. I thought "mild" meant I could handle it, but I was wrong. I barely ate anything because the broth was just too spicy for me. Even the ingredients were soaked in the spice, so it was just unbearable to eat. (So if you can't take spice, don't order the mild beef bone broth) read more
Been here multiple times for lunch and each time it's been a wonderful experience. The staff is always so attentive and kind--they greet you upon entering and say goodbye when you leave (': Plus, they're always on top of refilling our waters/napkins throughout our meal. Hard not to enjoy the food since you build your own broth! I always opt for the tomato broth and think it's the perfect soup--flavorful and not too heavy. The ingredients are always fresh and there are soooo many options. I always forget to add something )': but I remember it for next time! Highly recommend this place for delicious Malatang! read more

Our first malatang hotpot experience, and we loved it. We're all for hotpot, but because this gives you the option to choose your own items to go into your soup--genius! One of the best hot pots I've visited!! I wish they had their BBQ earlier in the day, but it's okay, next time I'm passing through, I will stop and get some! This was my first experience where we picked out our items like a buffet style and it was weighed at the end before the broth! I chose the Tom Yum broth which was very flavorful! My only wish, it was a little more spicier and sour; but overall it was delish! The staff is very friendly here and I definitely recommend this place. It's a cute little spot in the corner. I would say I am a pretty frequent visitor when it comes to YGF especially in socal. When I was in the area and came across this location, I was excited to give it a try. I feel like every location of ygf is a little different in flavor profiles for all the bases, so I went in hoping it was good. Similar to other self serve malatang restaurants, they had a wide selection of noodles, veggies, and proteins including seafood for you to choose from. I felt that this location had a bit more noodle selections and overall more options of toppings compared to other places. The pricing was very similar to other locations, but a little cheaper for the dry pots since it added a dollar instead of two for them. There was also a self serve sauce bar and a spacious seating area for dining in. I ordered the House Special Spicy Oil which is the dry pot not the spicy mix. The food didn't take too long to come out, but I was a little caught off guard from the way I received the dish since it seemed more like a spicy mix. However, when I mixed it up it tasted very good and almost the same as any other spicy dry pot I had in other YGF location. Overall, I had a good experience at this location and definitely would return if I was in the area again! read more
This is one of my favorite store in Dublin. Still yet to try out other locations. You will go to the end of the store to pick up the bowl and tongs and start lining up to pick for your food. They have different selections like fish balls, beef balls, tofu, noodles, mushrooms, veggies, meat, etc... Soup base from 4 to now become 6. Then they will weigh your bowl and you pick for your soup base. Now that you will go to your seat and wait for your food. I tend to pick more so that I can save for the next meal. Price is from $14.99 to $15.99 per pound. It is not cheap but we can treat ourselves once in a while, right? I pick their "Fish Maw and Chicken" Soup since they have it, and is still my favorite. Service is very very good, especially their server Cici is super energetic, very polite and very friendly. You will not feel you are not welcome. She will constantly checking your needs and help promptly. Overall experience is very good and highly recommending this place. read more

**3.5** On these cold nights, I crave hot soup. I've been enjoying these build your own hot pot places in Dublin. I saw that there was one near the escalators below Koi Palace. Finally tried it. Similar set up of self serve, choose your own ingredients. I wish they had the vegetables 1st then all the meats, seafood, and frozen fish/ meat balls. The selection was pretty unique from sweet potato rice cakes, cheesy rice cakes, frog legs, noodles of all variety, seafoods (clams, mussels), meats, to a variety of fresh vegetables. There were more soup base choices and a selection of Asian drinks that compliment hot pot like og herbal tea (nicely chilled and a cup of ice) The soups came out shortly after ordering some skewers, which was different. It was similar to a camping place I ate at in RH (So Cal) last summer. Unfortunately the chicken was way too spicy. My DD chose a mild beef broth and it too was way too spicy for her liking where I had the classic bone broth (nonspicy). The soups were packed with flavor. The ingredients for both were slightly overcooked, esp the noodles and vegetables. I believe there was a sauce station but I didn't need any. The ladies spoke Cantonese which was refreshing. They were attentive is asking if our meal was good, refilling our waters many times. Place was clean and organized. It was a comforting meal on a cold night. Convenient located. Overall it was like a 3.5 for me. Will have to bring Hubs to try since he loves spicy anything dishes. read more

This review is long overdue because YGF has been one of our go-to restaurants that we frequent almost every week. Whenever I ask my husband where he wants to go, YGF is always his first response! But rightly so because they have everything! From quality meats, to a wide assortment of noodles, veggies, meatballs, seafood, and flavorful broths, the combinations are endless. And to top it off the service is always so sweet and kind no matter how busy they are! Cici in particular always makes us feel so welcome there. Such a great addition to the Ulferts plaza! read more
After our group walk, we came here for lunch from one of our member's recommendation. It is located at the Ulferts Center in Dublin. The concept is you grab a bowl and tongs and you pick the ingredients for you hot pot bowl. There's a large selection of tofu, noodles, vegetables, mushrooms, fish balls, beef balls, seafood, pork, beef, and lamb. After your selections, your bowl is weighed and the price of $14.99lb or $15.99lb is based on the type of broth you select, beef bone broth, sweet & sour tomato, mellow spicy, classic bone broth, fish maw and chicken, curry, and house special spicy oil. You get a number and they will bring your bowl to your table. There's a condiment counter so you can prepare a dipping sauce. I enjoyed my 1.15lb of ingredients for my bowl and the sweet and sour broth was tasty. The food was pretty good and the hot broth was great for a cool day. If in the area, I would come back and try the other broths. read more
Stopped by this place for food while I was visiting the area and craving soup. I have been to other places in the bay so was curious how it would compare. There was no wait on a Sat around 1 pm when we went but still had a line of customers at the food bar. The selection was not as big as the other places I have been to but they had all the topping I wanted and usually get. The only thing missing was a variety of fish balls. I got the beef bone broth mix which was very rich in flavor and the medium flavor had a good kick. The flavor was a little on the heavier side so I would definitely try a different flavor next time. The biggest plus was the price. My bowl only came to around $13 which was unheard of in the bay. Would definitely come back and try it again next time! read more
First time here, and I am very satisfied! Didn't realize how big the serving would be (I got excited and picked a lot of ingredients to put in lol) but ended up taking half of it home. Food was delicious- got the popular one (beef/medium spicy) and was the perfect amount of spice. Service was AMAZING! Everyone in there was super friendly and very welcoming and accommodating. They checked up on us multiple times to make sure everything was okay and we even got some cantaloupes :) read more
