We visited for lunch and were impressed by the variety of options on their lunch menu, but my mom, sister, and I decided to order from the à la carte menu instead. Good food but lukewarm service. The hostess was all smiles when she seated us, but spent the entire time with the other owner chatting up some other customers and ignoring every other table. We got the green onion pancake ($8.95), kung pao chicken ($15.95), yang chou fried rice ($13.95), and one other stir fried dish I can't totally remember but believe was pork with mushrooms and bell peppers. The kung pao chicken had some flavor in the sauce I wasn't totally loving, but was spicy and packed with chicken, peanuts, onions, and bell peppers. The green onion pancake was crispy and delicious, with eight slices to an order. But the star of the show was the yang chou fried rice, which is that fluffy, soft type of fried rice I absolutely love. That was the first thing that got finished at the table. Portions are generous. My brother and I are both good eaters but we still left with leftovers. However, be careful with the take-out containers here; the kung pao leaked for some reason and the containers just felt a little flimsy in general. Luckily they were in a plastic bag, otherwise it would've gotten all over the car. I came for lunch. I parked my car in the parking lot. As I walked to the entrance, the man wearing a Yankee cap looked at me from behind the glass of the front door. He then flipped the sign from OPEN to CLOSED and walked away. I looked at my watch and realized they probably close for lunch at 2:30 PM. He could have opened the door, stuck his head out, and said "Thanks for coming; we close for lunch at 2:30 and reopen for dinner at 5. Please come again!" But no, the guy is rude. We came in around 6:30 pm on a Tuesday. We were the only customers. The food was mediocre. I was quite disappointed. The green onion pancake had absolutely no taste , no flavor. The spicy boiled fish was just okay. The only flavor it had was just "spicy" . The Chongqing chicken wings were very expensive for the small portion size . It also felt like it was missing some ingredients. The beef and tendon was the worst dish of them all. It had no spicy, umami flavor it's supposed to have. Closing the year with something spicy for lunch. Lulu's offer a nice lunch menu with a variety of choices. My go to lunch here is their Szechuan spicy fried chicken wings with bones. Lulu's kitchen was a staple for us during Covid and after Covid. We always order take out for their reasonable prices and authentic, home-style Chinese food. Our favorites include the Ants Going Up a Tree (spicy), bamboo and pork, stir fried rice cakes, and they have a nice eggplant and green bean dish that is solid, especially as you need the vegetables. Need them! All in all 3 dishes might set you back around $55 - $60, which isn't a horrible deal with the COL these days! Lulu's Kitchen has been an easy pick for lunch or dinner whenever we are at Dublin. They serve authentic and delicious Sichuan food. Our first encounter was at their Concord branch, but the Dublin location is more convenient so we have been going here ever since they opened. The Szechuan Spicy Fried Chicken has been our favorite even though it always brings out that numbing feeling. It is very tasty and not too greasy. We always get it bone-in because we like nibbling around the bones for that extra flavor. Another dish we would normally get is the Spicy Fish Fillet with Spicy Supreme Broth. We have always enjoyed the boiled white fish in the flavorful broth with the glass noodles, bean sprouts, Napa cabbage, and the other spicy and numbing ingredients. Serving size was plentiful. This is much better than the Spicy Boiled Fish Fillet. We try to get our veggies in too, usually the Pan-fried String Beans or the Sautéed Eggplant with String Bean in Chili Sauce. We loved how the green beans came out perfectly blistered and charred. These were tasty as well. Steamed rice goes well with the above, but sometimes we would get a serving of fried rice. We've tried the Combination Fried Rice and the Preserved Meat Fried Rice. We liked the latter because of the flavor of the cured meat. Pretty good Chinese food! My picky Chinese parents said "we can come back" which is a pretty big compliment haha. The menu is pretty big and it's kind of confusing because they offer a mix of szechuan & shanghainese food. The standout was the toothpick lamb which was better than most of the toothpick lambs we've had in the bay. The vermicelli with minced pork is pretty spicy -- wish it was a tad less spicy. The eggplant was a bit too corn-starchy but had pretty good flavor! The fish fillet with dual flavor was nice and spicy but could have a bit more depth of flavor. Tonight, we had dinner at this restaurant to celebrate the birthday of my friend's niece and the retirement of my friend's wife from a major department store. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall shopping center. We have had dinner at this place on several occasions previously and the food is consistently excellent in presentation and taste. The host ordered stirred fried lamb, tofu and fish, soup with dumplings, smoked duck, pork belly and cabbage. The food arrived hot and well seasoned. The service was good. The restaurant is small and plain so ambiance is lacking. Go here for the food, but there are better places to take a "date." Bathrooms (men's) is neat and clean. Sometimes a second look is important. My first visit did not leave much of an impression, but after my second visit this may become on of my go to Chinese spots in Dublin. The menu features a mix of Szechuan, Shanghainese, and other stuff. Ambiance is casual and the place is small and popular so a small wait may not be uncommon. Despite the limited staff and extensive menu, it's impressive how efficient the service is. Food comes out fast (and fresh) from the kitchen. We decided to go for a feast, ordering way more food than we could possibly eat in a single sitting. Everything was yummy. Some Szechuan staples like cumin lamb hit the spot. I enjoyed both the steamed and fried fish dishes. The cold appetizer with wheat gluten and wood ear mushroom provided a sweet break from the spice. I liked the addition of chestnuts with the braised pork belly. Portions are big and we had plenty of leftovers after a feast at the restaurant. I will be back. Consistent yummy Szechuan eats, owner and the usual lady server are both really friendly. Not much ambiance, but that's what why you come here for. I've eaten here many times, while I usually try to order something new, there are a couple items I always get: bifengtang fish (so crispy on the outside, fish is light and flaky), cumin lamb (a bit greasy but the cumin flavor and lamb is just the best), xlb (not the best ever, but decent and good size) I've order both take out and delivery, food quality in both scenario seemed to be pretty fresh, but obviously eating there is always the best especially with fried items! But there are times when life throws a wrench into our plans and we have to press the proverbial pause button. Forced to shut down for a period of time due to the pandemic, we were very happy when Lulu's Kitchen finally reopened its doors for takeout and delivery. Their Griddle-Cooked Pork Intestine is a dine-in favorite, but we have other go-to dishes that can be ordered to go. Spicy Fish Fillet with Spicy Supreme Broth - They packed this in not one but two big plastic containers! Despite the hot temperature of the broth, the fish maintained its consistency and did not break down at all. Still very tasty. Szechuan Spicy Fried Chicken (Bone-in) - This is oftentimes referred to as Sichuan, Chongqing, or Mala fried chicken elsewhere. The amount of red chili peppers could be intimidating, but they were just there for show. This delicious dish will numb the taste buds but the reward from the flavor was so worth it. Very juicy, too! Pan-fried String Beans - This looked so simple but it takes more than just sautéeing the string beans. They initially have to be pan fried until the skin looked wrinkled and also carried a slight char. The aroma was so enticing; the taste was legendary. Pan-fried Pork Buns (Sheng Jian Bao) - Each bao had a golden-brown-crusted bottom and a somewhat glossy top. It was smaller than what we've had in other places. When ordering this to-go, it is best consumed in the parking lot. Otherwise, the dough will have the tendency of absorbing most, if not all, of the soup. Decent flavor. It might take some time before we get to see the inside of Lulu's Kitchen again, but we'll take this alternative for the time being. The order didn't take that long and our food was ready in 20 min from the time that we placed our order. We ordered the following dishes: - Broccoli Beef - Mongolian Beef - Sweet and Sour Pork - Shanghai Style Salted Pork & Vegas Baked Rice Mongolian Beef- They packed this dish with so much onions. It has a kick of spiciness to it. It would be nice to balance out the amount of beef and onion. I like onions so to me this dish was good for me. Broccoli beef- My dads favorite dish to get. Always a good one to get. Sweet and Sour Pork - This is my favorite dish. Wished it had pineapples in it. Shanghai Style Salted Pork & Vegas Baked Rice- I was really surprise that they had this dish.
