This is one of my favorite bubble tea shops. Their tea tastes really great and the boba is chewy. I get 50% sweetness and it's pretty much the way I want it. Their ordering is very straightforward and there is even a giant screen with pending orders. Do adjust your sweetness as I find the drinks tend to be on the sweeter end. Be sure to read the instructions on their monitors/walls to maximize the drinking experience! Staff has always been friendly and helpful. During my most recent visit, the lady at the counter even made me a black tea with salted cheese sample! They have a points system, but doesn't seem beneficial unless you purchase 2 or more cups per visit. They take card with no minimum. The interior is small, so it isn't a good place to hang out or to get work done. Also, the line moves a bit slow, so you'll generally see the line out the door. Before last weekend, I don't think Burlingame Avenue has ever seen much action...but, you can always count on a popular Asian franchise/chain to bring in the crowds. Tack on the fact that Happy Lemon is the first closest location to San Francisco AND was offering a grand opening special of "Buy 1 Drink, Get 1 Free", you'll have every AzN hopping in their rice rockets and gunning it from Geary Boulevard, Irving street, Daly City, and Millbrae trying to get their drank on or their IG story on (if you're a millennial). Like many, I'm super ecstatic that Happy Lemon has opened their one thousand, three hundred something location on Burlingame Avenue. I usually drive to their Sunnyvale or Cupertino locations just for their drinks...yes, it's that good! Happy Lemon has about 50 drinks on the menu which are divided by series: Salted Cheese Series, Fresh Lemon Series, Freshly Squeezed Lemon Series, Classic (e.g. milk tea), Freshly Brewed Tea, Fresh Fruit Matcha, Specialty (e.g. Mango Yakult Smoothie), and Lemon Slushy. Do NOT use a straw for the salted cheese series drinks...sip it from the little hole so the tea filters through the foam of cheese for maximum flavor and enjoyment. Initially, "salted cheese" drinks may sound like some gross, phantom pregnancy craving but it really does work with the tea. If you visit any Happy Lemon location, you have to try a salted cheese drink which is their specialty. No seating at this location but there's public benches along Burlingame Avenue. Everyone loves a good deal. That's why during their grand opening weekend, with their BOGO deal the line was crazy long shortly after opening and T pumps was dead. So needless to say, I didn't get out of the car to go. But, we went the following day in which there were only a few people ahead of us. I got the mango green tea with mango boba included and he got the Oreo milk tea. When I asked about their salted cheese they graciously offered me a sample of the green or black tea version, I tried the green and it was tasty. And this is coming from a girl that doesn't like plain green tea! Drinks took about five minutes or so to make. I like that you can check the status of your drink (with the number they give you) on the monitor. My mango drink had mango syrup in it but also used mango pieces and had mango boba in it. I enjoyed the mango boba as well but felt that I've had better mango tea elsewhere. The cashier told me that this drink doesn't have any ability to modify its sweetness. While it was refreshing it tasted a bit diluted. The winner for sure was his Oreo milk tea (requested at 50% sweet) wasn't sugary sweet but the taste of the Oreo cookies came through with the creaminess of the milk. As others have mentioned you must come here for their signature salted cheese drinks. Next time I'll stick with that or the Oreo milk tea. He got boba in his drink too, which tasted great but just wish the balls were slightly firmer. I usually don't get milk tea drinks but again, it was delish! We've been staying in the Bay Area a lot recently for my husband's work, so I've had the opportunity of checking out local tea places. One of my favorites is Happy Lemon, because everything tastes so fresh and the establishment is full of brightly colored lemons! So far I've only tried two of their drinks (not venturing into anything new because I did these two). I've done the Fresh Lemon Black Tea (only comes in a Medium) and the Freshly Squeezed Lemon Black Tea (Large). Kinda confusing at first, but the first uses a whole entire lemon and the second one just has squeezed lemon juice in it. My mouth is puckering up just thinking about the first one. I ask for them to be 50% sweet, which then prompts them to ask me if I've had it at that level before, and to inform me that it will not be very sweet. I once tried 30% sweet, but they wouldn't even let me try. :P So right now, 50% sweet seems to be a good spot. And then my favorite toppings to go with the Fresh Squeezed Lemon Black Tea is boba and aloe. ^_^ The only bummer about this place is parking. Most of the time we have to park several blocks away and walk to this location, which can be tricky if you're pressed for time. It can also be incredibly hard to HEAR in this place if music is playing loud or people are talking loudly. I think it has to do with their flooring or walls. The first time my husband came here, he said loud music was playing, so he couldn't hear anything the cashier was saying. When he came back to the hotel, the order was completely wrong. I had to try out the salted cheese hype and it's freaking delicious! It was so good that we came back the next day again. They also offer a rewards card where you get a point for every $4 spent and get a free drink after you achieve 10 points. So far, I've tried the Black Tea with Salted Cheese, Milk Tea with Salted Cheese, Oolong Tea with Salted Cheese, and Matcha Latte with Tiramisu Salted Cheese. All the salted cheese drinks are $3.75 while the tiramisu salted cheese drinks are $4.50. Honestly, I was not a fan of the tiramisu flavor unless you like chocolate. So yes all the way to the original salted cheese. The flavor just mixes so well with the drink itself. The lighter your tea is, the better the salted cheese pairs with it because of its contrast. I was so excited to find out that Happy Lemon is available in California! My husband and I were in London last month and we tried Happy Lemon there and really liked it. Therefore, when my friends and I went to the Bay Area to visit during the past weekend, I had to drag them all to go! My husband and I shared two drinks green tea with double salted cream cheese on top and a lemon honey green tea. I love their teas! They're strong and full of tea goodness, which makes it perfect when it has the salted cream cheese on top or mixed with the lemon and honey. They also use the sip lids for their cream drinks so you're able to taste the drink layer by layer, which gives it a much better experience to the drink. I also got to try my friend's milk tea with salted cream cheese on top and that was also very delicious. Their milk tea is very good! Very smooth and has that yummy tea aroma to it. Their sweetness levels are PERFECT. I don't like my drinks sweet .. like I normally have to get less sweet when I go to boba places but I don't really need to change anything here. Then again, if I ordered anything fruity, I may have to. My husband actually ordered my drink wrong -- yeah, don't trust guys to get your drink right, but the cashier actually changed it for me. Finally!! I've been waiting for this Happy Lemon location to open for SO long. I always drive to the location in Cupertino because I absolutely love and always crave their green tea with salted cheese; don't let the name fool you, salted cheese is delicious! This store is located in downtown Burlingame and is spacious and clean. No tables or chairs so it's more of a 'grab and go' boba shop. My top two drinks that I always order here is the green tea with salted cheese and the mango matcha smoothie. I was always sad that they didn't have a large size of the green tea but there's a hack! An employee told me that you can just get a large size of the jasmine green tea and then just add salted cheese (+$1) on top and it'll be like the same thing. My friend tried it and it indeed is the same thing, but the salted cheese flavor is a little lighter because theres more green tea than cheese. When I'm not feeling a tea drink I'll get the mango matcha smoothie, which is made with real mango! You can taste little bits in it - who knew mango and matcha would be so good together?! My boyfriend also tried the mango yakult smoothie during their grand opening BOGO deal and that was really delicious also. To be honest, I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here. I totally understand we have to keep each other safe by doing the whole social distancing, but unless it's company policy not to pay with cash, i will pay with whatever payment method that I like. I can even argue that a card payment method would not be as safe as the other; if I were to pay with a card, you would still have to grab and touch my card, and therefore put me at risk. Not trying to be a jerk; I could've paid with a card but that entitled/demanding attitude; I couldn't tolerate; hence writing this review. This location is on the end of Burlingame Ave closer to El Camino. I feel like this side is not as popular or not as busy. Downtown Burlingame means parking all on the streets and throughout the different lots they have here. All metered Mon-Sat till 6pm so keep your eyes peeled. Look for the mascot outside on the sidewalk to find this place! Happy Lemon is a perfect addition to downtown Burlingame especially with the beautiful weather they have to offer, you can easily enjoy your drink in this weather. However, this location unlike their own locations do not have any chairs or tables to sit at. Not sure if they're gonna add some later on because the space itself is somewhat small so even if they did add tables it probably would cause a hinderance to the folks coming through. Bathrooms are also located all the way to the back of the building and you'll need to ask for a key. Since this is the grand opening weekend the workers are still trying to get their groove on so please forgive and be patient. The workers are friendly and helpful, but it did take about 15 mins for me to get my drinks due to the high volume of orders. Overall, would come through again. The lines here can get a bit long, stretching out the door into the hallway in the street mall, I suggest not entering the store and just walking straight to the end of the line from the outside if that is the case. Happy Lemon have a rewards card that accumulates points per dollar, you can pick one up from the cashier. When I thought there was no way I would like a drink with "salted cheese" in it, I was delighted to taste something a little different but yet so familiar when I ordered the Black Tea with salted cheese. The person who made my drink called out my number, then filled the top of my drink with salted cheese from the dispenser after I stepped up to the counter then topped the salted cheese with matcha powder (?). He then told me what is the best way to drink this beverage -- at a 45 degree angle, so that I drink both the salted cheese and black tea at the same time. The sweet black tea reminds me of the tea from lemon iced teas at Hong Kong cafes, and in combination with the salted cheese, it tasted like a salty milk tea. Definitely became addicted to this drink. I also tried their boba milk tea with cream puff, which I will give 2.5 stars. The cream puff really does taste like the cream filling in a cream puff, it is very creamy and subtly sweet at 75% sweetness. The boba is chewy but bland. I can see why some people may like this drink but I like my milk tea and cream puff separate. Definitely will be back for my salted cheese fixes. read more

We got the lemon mango slushy and the mango yakult smoothie. Both were really refreshing, especially after a long day of walking around. The lemon mango slushy tastes more like lemonade and doesn't really have any strong mango flavor. Got it with the lychee jello and it was interesting. My go to is green tea, 0% sugar with the salted cheese on the side. I used to get the drink as is, but my friend suggested to have it separated so the liquid doesn't get mixed. I enjoy it a lot better this way and can keep I don't have to drink it right away. They do have a royalty program, but I hardly have my card on me. I believe some of their chain use phone numbers while others don't. Hopefully it'll be more consistent. read more

In a very nice location with lots of other shops and restaurants. I've been to other happy lemon locations and it's nice to know there is one in Burlingame. There's limited seats and tables. But it's okay because you can walk around the neighborhood with your drinks. read more

Big fan of Happy Lemon! Always have to make multiple stops whenever I'm in the Bay and sometimes I even consider ordering a couple drinks at a time lol. I usually order the Grapefruit Oolong Tea. Updated review on 12/7/19: My mom always orders the strawberry green tea with salted cheese. But lately the quality has declined dramatically. The strawberry chunks appear to be frozen and some of the pieces are dark/discolored, and it shouldn't be chunky like that to begin with! She called and complained to the manager but she was dismissed. She was a loyal customer until now. read more

YUM! I got their hot taro milk tea (I can't remember the exact name), but it was DELICIOUS! It had the perfect amount of sweetness, and there were taro chunks inside the cup that added a very unique and distinct texture to the drink. I would absolutely come back! The only reason why I gave this place 4/5 instead of 5/5 is because I tried my friend's drink (I don't know the name but it had lemon in it - I'm guessing it's what they're known for - hence the name, Happy Lemon?), and it was way too sour for my taste! I'm sad. Moved to the area and finally get a chance to try out Happy Lemon. I ordered the green tea salted cheese 75% sugar 25% ice. I'm sure the cashier didnt mean to but her accent plus the mask was difficult to have a conversation. When I entered the store, my name is at the very top of the list. But when the cashier asked my order, She mumbled something. Then i asked kindly, can you say again? So she said something mysterious again. And I replied louder, i can't understand what youre saying with your mask. I made the hand gesture of pinching my own mask. She then freaked out, "NO DONT TAKE MASK OFF." -.- So I repeated once more, I have no idea what youre trying to say. I'm here for pickup. Ordered through Yelp so it may be Grubhub! Her stress resonated with me. I have PTSD so anxiety is contagious for me. Then I think I finally understood her, "Confirmation. Show your confirmation." Oh jeez, okay i'll pull up my email receipt. So I held my phone towards her. "Confirmation. I need to see confirmation." It's here. I was also wearing my work badge: Gisel Feuerbach! The screen she looks at has my name: Gisel F -_- She continued, "your name. Wheres your name." It's right there. I showed her closely. Right under "your info" pointed my finger to the screen. She looks closer. And I stressed out, "i am unsure what confirmation code youre talking about. This is my very first visit to Happy Lemon." She then grabs the cup with my name on it. I'm sure I was also not 100% mentally ok but the fact that the transaction could have been handled more professionally, it really weirded me out. Don't get me wrong- the drink itself was delicious. It's icey, milky, sweet, tart, and bitter (from the matcha), all at the same time--the mango chunks add a nice textural contrast, and the drink is not too sweet and nicely balanced in flavor. Happy Lemon stores are popping up everywhere, and this small location is a great, clean place to hang out or do some work! The prices for some of the specialty drinks are on the higher side, but are certainly delicious and worth trying. read more
