I've been to Happy Lemon in the past in other locations so I know it's good in general. L O C A T I O N Although this Happy Lemon is located off 680, it's kind of hard to get to and you can miss the entrance to the plaza. I had to drive around twice to finally get into the plaza. Just be careful and slow down even though Capitol Ave can have some crazy drivers. Parking is plentiful and it's also next to a Popeyes :) I N S I D E There was a good amount of seating on both sides of the building. And they do have a restroom for customers. M E N U Happy Lemon is known for its lemon drinks as well as their puff drinks. The puff drinks are definitely a dessert. Hefty. What was quite shocking was the price of the toppings were $1 for even boba. When did just a black milk tea with boba start at almost $8? I had to clasp my pearls. But you know what, it's fine, I'm donating to a local-ish business. How was my drink? It was milky and tea-y and delicious. So I guess I'll just enjoy my $8 drink. I was surprised and happy to find Happy Lemon opened on Thanksgiving Day! I was picking up some Popeyes fried chicken, and was able to have boba with chicken too woohoo! Super friendly and efficient service. The drinks were delicious! Was my first time trying the Ube Milk Tea with Taro Cream Puff and am a huge fan! Recently, the drinks at this store have been tasting more inconsistent as I go. I normally purchase the strawberey green/black tea for my mom and I. She liked them at first until the drinks started tasting less and less of the first times we had them. Sometimes, the tea is bland and tastes very watered down. Other times, there's way too much strawberry to the point it is 80% strawberry, and 20% actual tea. I recently got 2 strawberry green teas; one at 100% and one at 50%. Upon drinking, neither drinks had any taste. The 100% sweet drink tasted exactly similar to the one at 50%. Are the drinks consistent? Are the workers following the same recipe? Is the tea even being cooked probably? I wouldn't suggest coming here after your first visit unless you expect the workers to actually make their drinks correctly. read more

I picked up a couple drinks from here through the Too Good To Go app, which if you don't use, sells extra food/drink items from a bunch of different restaurants, usually at the end of the day, at a discount price. You unfortunately cannot pick what you get -they give you whatever they have and you will like it. Good thing, I like most tea drinks. They are located next to an Indian restaurant and Popeyes. Plenty of parking. I showed up about a half an hour before closing and showed them my app. The staff member asked them to give them 5 minutes. She put together one drink and pulled another drink out the fridge. The drink she made had boba topping so I could see why she had to do that one fresh. But she gave me a iced matcha latte with salted cheese on top; and a grapefruit tea. Two drinks for $6 - I'll take it. The matcha latte was yummy and the grapefruit tea was fruity and full of grapefruit bits. Both were super refreshing. The cashier girl and the owner are both bad manner. I was standing in line to be called to place an order. After the lady in front of me finished her quick order, I was supposed to be the next. However, the cashier didn't have intention to call me to go up front to place an order; so I thought she needed maybe a minute or so to do something else before taking my order. So I stood there waited and waited for about 15 min until another male customer came in. He asked me if I was going to place an order, I replied 'yes, I am in line'. Maybe he didn't hear me correctly, he just stepped up to the counter and started placing orders with the cashier. I was very upset with this situation, so I spoke up to the owner (maybe she is, because that was the first time I walked in to buy a drink for my daughter) telling her I was standing there for already 15 min. but the cashier didn't have intention to serve me. It's not the man's fault, he didn't hear me clearly so he cut in line. To my surprise, both the cashier and the owner didn't apologize at all, the cashier looked away from me, the owner rolled up her eyes and used her eyes to tell the cashier to take my order at that moment. I'm caught in between a 3-4 star. Here's why: We ordered so many drinks (some specifically without boba because one of our girls couldn't chew it due to braces), yet of course they made our drink with it. We asked if they could redo it and they did (without a word), but to tell you the truth, the girl making the drinks was not happy to be there and it shows. She made us feel like WE were burdening her when the mistake was hers. Anyway that was strike one. Strike two is that we ordered 3 egg waffles (matcha, chocolate, and original). I feel like this is more of a timing/administration thing, but since it was SUPER cold that night, by the time they finished making all 3 waffles and handed them to us all at the same time, it was cold. lol. It would've been nice if they handed them to us as they were made, but I understand that probably would've made it hard to keep track of. Oh well. Super bad service yesterday. I came in ordered my 4 regular drinks and told the cashier to please put them in a tray and then put in the bag so that way it doesn't tip/fall over when I put in my car. Happy Lemon makes me happy! This is one of the best boba chains in the world. I had their mango orange milk tea and thought it was absolutely delicious. It is a flavor combination I have never seen at any other boba shop. I always ask for less ice and 25% sweetness (otherwise it is way too sweet for me). I've tried most things on their menu. They're known for their salted cheese topping. Think of it like creme fraiche or cheesecake. It has a sweet flavor with a thick foam/cream texture. The cheese foams come in different flavors and is often on top of a non-milk tea in a sippy cup. The sippy cup (similar to the ones at Starbucks) allow you to get a small sip of the cheese foam while the clear tea also comes through and balances the richness of the cream. This place often has a line and is very busy. They cater for weddings! I considered hiring them to cater my upcoming wedding but ended up going with Sincere Tea because it was more budget friendly. This location has a really tight and crowded parking lot due to all of the popular Vietnamese restaurants in the same plaza. This plaza is also full of other boba options. If the lot is full, you can park across the street at Target and walk over. read more

I'm not sure if the matcha is supposed to be super light in flavor or if this place really skimped out on matcha because I couldn't taste the matcha and the coloring was more of a light green instead of a somewhat actual green color.
