Great place, great service, delicious food and great live music! We loved the red beans and rice! Of all the NOLA red beans and rice, Tipsy Trumpet had the best flavor - warm, a little spicy and super delicious. It's hard not to sample a little of everything...he jambalaya was yummy, too! The Blackened Shrimp Po Boy was full of flavor and we tried the cajun fries, which the delicious crawfish mushroom cream sauce. We don't love mushrooms, so we ordered it on the side, but we were thrilled that it was just big pieces of mushroom, making our family very happy! It was creamy and delicious! We enjoyed amazing service, with refills flowing freely on Diet Coke and our beer, too! We even saved some room for dessert - the New Orleans Bread Pudding with praline rum sauce was amazing...and don't miss the Kentucky Bourbon Pecan Pie, served warm - the best!

Stumbled upon this place walking through Bourbon street. The live music caught our ears so we came in for a drink. The place was nice and wherever you sat you had a good view of the stage. The band played a few popular songs and drinks were reasonably priced with fast service at the bar.

After a long day we wanted to get a little tipsy, so we stumbled into the Tipsy Trumpet. I tend to avoid eateries on Bourbon Street, but mom and I saw crab cakes on the menu, so we decided to try them. The bartender was friendly and took our order - Louisiana Crab Cake (appetizer) and a side of fries. Of course, we needed some libations, so we requested a Strawberry Basil and Bourbon St Lemonade. Soon after our arrival, lighting appeared in the sky and the rain came pouring down. Typical of the South. We were glad to already be indoors because we didn't have an umbrella. The food was fresh and came out quickly. The Louisiana Crab Cake was topped with a Crawfish Mushroom Cream Sauce. The crab cake had a nice consistency and the sauce was tasty. The fries were addictive and delicious! There was a live band playing and they were entertaining. We enjoyed the music while waiting out the storm. The drinks were a bit sweet and light on the alcohol, so once the rain stopped we took them home (which was a few blocks away) and added some more vodka. I would come back for the live music, a nibble, and a straight up vodka soda.

We were on the hunt for a shrimp Poboy and was recommended by our friends to come here. We sat at a high top table in the front of the restaurants so we're able to people watch but also still hear the amazing live music upfront. I just ordered an iced tea. My husband ordered a cocktail and we ended up just sharing a Poboy with a side of fries. I wasn't very impressed with the sandwich. It was OK, but it was definitely not something I would order again. If you need something to fill you up and soak up the alcohol give it a try you would probably have a different opinion over mine. The atmosphere is just what you would expect in New Orleans, very festive and the service was great. The live music was definitely a plus and would suggest coming here to get the full experience but maybe order something else.

We were a large party of 9. The waiter had a fabulous memory. He wrote nothing down and our order was spot on. However, it took a while to get the food and forever after that to get a check. Good thing we asked for a pitcher of water at the start. Our table had a few drinks, but it would have been impossible to get refills. Overall, the food was delicious, the music a bit loud and the service a bit slow. If you're not in a hurry and you don't want to talk, give this pace a try.

Quick and easy spot to grab a few drinks while you may get the chance to hear a band perform. Unlike the pure jazz establishments, it was not as busy and didn't require a cover charge. There's seating around the bar and in the courtyard for dinner. We just stopped by for a quick drink and to hear a band. Feels good sitting around the bar with all the doors and windows opened. Also love the use of the mini trumpets as part of the lighting.

The food and drinks were good. It was a very nice size portion with enough to take home. The gumbo was actually free with an entree. I enjoyed the live music and sitting at the bar. Our server was very pleasant.

We had friends in town so we were doing the tourist troll on Bourbon. The music we heard coming from the Tipsy Trumpet caught our eye and we decided to go inside. We only ordered drinks but the service was fabulous! I loved that they served mocktails for our non drinking friends. The band was tons of fun and we stayed until their set was over. The place was not crowded but definitely a hit with the people that kept coming in. Great seating, lighting, space etc. Oh, and kids are welcome. Lol. I'd come back.

This place had a great vibe. Live music and they were jammin. The food came out fast. I had the special which was a redfish that was top with a crawfish étouffée. The flavor!! It was soo good I could have licked the plate. My friend on the other hand ordered the catfish po boi and was not impressed. The fish was lacking flavor and it was only like on little piece. He did talk to the server who did recommend this to him and she took care of it. But still the next piece was just a little bit better. I would still recommend this place but stay away from the po boi.

I would've given this place 4 stars because the live music was great and Mariah, our waitress was attentive. Food was not bad. We had ordered 3 Corona, Sunrise mocktail, spinach artichoke, blackened shrimp po boy, and bread pudding. 3 h o u r s later....I had to run to the toilet. It was so bad, I puked through my mouth and nose (which I didn't know that could happen). I took a few Pepto Bismol twice throught the night. I can still taste the after taste of the spinach artichoke and tortilla chips. When I first saw it, I knew it wasnt freshly made but it tasted alright in the beginning. When I reached the bottom, it tasted repulsive so I stopped. My friend had the po boy and he said that he felt uneasy last night too. Could all the food had problems? The only thing we both ate was tortilla chips, bread pudding, and the drinks. After reading some poor reviews from this restaurant, I wonder if we got overcharged too. Everything added up to $88 before tax but our total is over 100.

Bowl of gumbo, New Orleans trio, crab cake and our drinks.

Food was awesome! We had the Taste of New Orleans trio -jambalaya, red beans and rice, shrimp etouffee, a bowl of gumbo and crab cake with crawfish mushroom cream. We were not disappointed. The alcohol drinks were light. Service was good our server was nice. We chose to sit in the patio in the back because the have live music which was great, but we wanted to be able to hear each other talk. We highly recommend Tipsy Trumpet.

It was 2 p.m. afterall, so not a lot of people were out in general. Turns out the band was great! Then people started trickling in and there was a good crowd enjoying the music with us. We had a great time, chatted with other patrons and a few of the band members. Good drinks, prices are on the higher end at ~$15, but still affordable. I had a Pimm's cup which was refreshing, they are served in souvenir to go cups that are really cute. Glad we decided to stay! A great time was had.

Before I start, this is my review based on my experience. I've noticed some people complain about…read morethe music, paying the cover charge, seating or the size of the venue. I'm not here to argue any of those points. I will say this: expecting live musicians to perform for free until you decide whether they're worth paying is ridiculous. The cover is usually only $5...$10 max. If that's a dealbreaker, this probably isn't your place. Stay home and stream Spotify. Now... I have some friends in town, and whenever that happens, a Monday night trip to the Spotted Cat is basically mandatory. I've been coming here for years and years. Yes, it's super touristy now, but it still gives me the warm fuzzies every time I walk through those doors. So I'm presenting the "compliment sandwich" review. Never heard of it? You start with a compliment, slip in some constructive-ish criticism, then end with another compliment. Supposedly people receive feedback better that way. Let's see. First, the music. Outstanding. Chris Christy wasn't what I thought I wanted to hear until I actually heard him. I felt completely transported. Man, can that guy play the guitar. It felt kinda like gypsy music. Then came the Frenchmen Street Allstars. The last time I saw them, they had a different lead singer and, honestly, they kind of felt like a completely different band, aside from the phenomenal drummer. This version did not disappoint. It was a great mix of jazz and New Orleans standards. Both bands were great! **Now a note to management.** Great music isn't enough. The bar should be every bit as memorable as the stage. Forgive me, I didn't get the bartenders' names, so I have to describe them by physical traits. The first bartender, the guy with the mountain of curly hair, was friendly enough and made decent drinks. Later, another bartender with a short haircut took over and made the best drinks of the night. Then there was the bartender with the black and hot pink hair. She looked like she'd rather be anywhere else. She rarely smiled, her demeanor felt unwelcoming, and it almost came across as hostile. On top of that, the drinks she made were so weak I genuinely wondered if there was any alcohol in them. Seriously. They were that bad. Here's my philosophy: if you're going to be grumpy, aloof, or have some other off-putting trait, you'd better make a mean drink. Years and years ago there was a bartender named Curtis who wasn't exactly sunshine and rainbows, but that man could make a cocktail. I didn't need him to smile because the drink did all the talking. If the drink is mostly soda, though, friendliness becomes a lot more important. Unfriendly and bad bartending is a double whammy. She must be somebody's child or partner because I can't think of any other reason to employ a bad bartender. I hate to belabor the point, but the drinks aren't cheap. Cheap and bad I can take. For another comparison, there's another bartender there, I'm pretty sure her name is Chris. She's been there for years. She's all business. Maybe a little surly. Who am I kidding? A lot surly. But she's a character. More importantly, she makes a great drink. That's the kind of personality that somehow fits the Spotted Cat perfectly. Now let me end with the final piece of "bread" on my compliment sandwich. The doorman deserves his own review. That gravelly-voiced "Welcome to the Spotted Cat!" is part of the experience. Then he absolutely hammers that stamp onto your wrist. Somehow you don't even mind because you know what's waiting on the other side: incredible music, a fun room, and one of the best nights you can have on Frenchmen Street. Just don't let the bartender with the pink and black hair make your drink.

Whether sitting at the bar, or in one of the many lounge chairs on the opposite wall, every seat is an excellent. While I knew of the drink French 75, on the bar menu it was offered with either gin or cognac. I decided to try the cognac and so glad I did. Perfectly delicious! It turns out that drink is actually a French 125, so I learned something new that night. Great spot with a great vibe.

The Sazerac Bar at the The Roosevelt New Orleans prepares an outstanding Sazerac cocktail, as you…read morewould expect. While the Sazerac wasn't invented here, this is arguably its most iconic home, a place where New Orleans cocktail history comes to life. I would use this version as your gold standard when dining out in New Orleans and looking for a perfect Sazerac. We enjoyed watching bartender Rachel craft each drink. Rye whiskey, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar are stirred in a small pitcher with ice. The serving glass is chilled, then emptied, and finished with an absinthe rinse along the rim. The cocktail is strained into the glass and topped with a lemon peel. The atmosphere makes the experience even better. The murals, the history, and the energy of the room give it a sense of occasion that you do not get at most bars. We had such a great time sitting at the bar that my wife and I each finished two and a half Sazeracs, which tells you everything you need to know.
