Came here for the first time for a Yelp event. I so loved it !!!!. I ordered a French Martini first. It was good. For my next drink, I wanted to try something a tad bit different. The bartender made a deliciously vibrant colored hibiscus margarita. It was chef's kiss. It's just the type of drink I like, a sneaky and slow hit. I stumbled on trivia night. It was a blast. Such a cool spot that you can easily miss, if you don't know what you're looking for! A fabulous selection of books, tons of comfortable seating, a lovely semi-hidden outdoor patio with several tables. The music was awesome, old school hip hop on my visit, I loved it! The bartender was super friendly and made an excellent French 75. They have a great happy hour every day, not just weekdays, too. No food, but there are plenty of places to eat nearby. Kind of hidden location, but cute space. We came for happy hour so we arrived just after 5pm on a Thursday. We found free parking around the corner. Security was sitting at the front door and asked if we had a reservation. We did not, but it didn't seem to be an issue. Inside, the bartender greeted us and again asked about reservations. She said we could sit inside or out back. We asked about live music but it was apparently cancelled by band but bartender said that most Thur, Fri and Sat nights have live music. We sat inside and it was comfy and we loved the decor. Our drinks were half off and good. We also tried some chips with guacamole and their cheese board. The chips and guac were very fresh and tasty. The charcuterie board could be a lot better. Crackers were stale and honestly seemed as though it was thrown together with leftovers out of someone's fridge! read more

Really enjoyed the very cute & intimate art venue/bar with speak easy type of vibe. This place has the cutest ambiance. I enjoyed the environment with the time it set with the music and the books and pictures. There is an outside patio/courtyard that is very large. This is a really cool spot that captures art, music, and the nightlife in a culturally sophisticated way. They have multiple areas of seating including outdoors, so when you are in with your group it still feels like a personal and intimate experience. They also serve food and drinks. The price points were reasonable for all items as well. The New Orleans style food and drinks added to our experience visiting there. Oh and might I add they had a live band there. I don't know if this a nightly thing or what, but it was a cool touch as well. At the end of the night, they had a private party planned so we were asked to move from where we were sitting. NOLA Art Bar is the sister business to bookstore and coffee shop Baldwin & Co. (both Black owned) and it is the cutest, speakeasy style bar. The music is great, the food is delicious, and the drinks are not only creative, but well made, too! The bartenders here are great and super knowledgeable. I wasn't sure what I was in the mood for and they made me something perfectly suited to my tastes after a few questions. I'm also particularly fond of The Green Light from their regular menu. On certain nights they serve food (can't remember which ones), but if you happen to be there on a night where Chef Indigo is serving, do yourself a favor and give something a try. Doesn't really matter what, it'll be delicious. He made chickpea tacos taste fantastic. When you walk in the mood is set from the lighting to the R&B jams rolling in the background. It's a perfect place to come with a date or with your friends to unwind after work.The space also has books available for sale which I think is pretty rad. Great way to start a conversation while having a drink or two. The bar shares the spacious courtyard area with the coffeeshop, but they aren't typically open at the same time so finding a spot to hangout isn't a problem. Parking can be a little challenging, but nothing too crazy that would make me turn around and go home. They also host trivia nights and live music/acts, so that could be a fun time to check them out when I'm sure it's more lively. read more

Our book club met here. Nice bookstore cafe. None of us were prepared for the turnout so it took the bar a minute figure how we could all sit together. At first understaffed, within 30 mins the manager came, helped the bartender and got us together! It's a little loud for a book club unless we had moved outside. The Brussels toast is amazing and so were our drinks. I'll also go back for some of their nightly activities. read more

7pm reservation for NYE, planned drinks and a light dinner, knowing we'd beat the crowds. Friendly greeting, 6 people total in the bar, and prompt seating at our outdoor table, perfect weather. But we waited 10 minutes to place our drink order, then another 15 for them to arrive. Long story short, in two *hours* we had two rounds of drinks and the food we ordered at 7:20 arrived at 8:55. We were crestfallen, we'd looked forward to NYE for weeks. The drinks were fine, but I really wish we'd spent our evening someplace with more reliable service. More disappointed than angry...we chalked it up to supply chain and reduced workforce but as we left we noticed the bar was packed and literally dozens of people were eating in the bar. I love the art and atmosphere. I think I was expecting things to be a little more drink and food centered. It's New Orleans so having a decent amount of food options is expected. The service was ok and the music was nice. We broke out in song a few times during our visit. I ordered the Gimlet which packed a very strong punch of lime with every sip. My eating mates ordered a margarita and a Blue New Orleans. For the price of the drinks and size they received neither of them were impressed. We ordered the Guacamole and Chips which was ok. The shrimp tacos, chicken tacos and fish tacos. They all had good flavor and tasted better than what we expected. This spot gives me first date vibes or hangout. I wouldn't really say happy hour just because they don't really have happy hour specials and menu's. I would go back to just hang and enjoy the environment. Great spot, with a really nice ambience. Feels like you're chilling in your coolest friend's basement - and this is meant as a very good thing! Great staff - very friendly and attentive. The seating is perfectly spaced, too - lots of room for you and some friends to relax. We came for the happy hour, and tried some of their drinks - the "Down South" was AMAZING (it has cayenne in it, so be warned). We also got a charcuterie board to snack on while we hung out, and it was pretty decent! Not the best we've had, but a decent amount of food. I have one complaint, and I hope the management sees this comment. We asked for some more water crackers to finish the charcuterie board (there weren't really enough provided), and they said "sure"...but when the bill came, they charged us $5 for a handful of basic water crackers. Folks, c'mon. If I had been informed that a handful of crackers would cost me $5, I would have said "hell no". Either lower the price (you should), inform the customer of the cost (you also should), or just give the customer a few extra crackers (winner!). We'll come back. Love coming here!! First of all, it's easy to miss because outside of the sign hanging above the door, you wouldn't really be able to tell anything is behind the wall. However, when security lets you in, it's a very cute place with a perfect patio area! They also have a tv outside, but it wasn't on when I went. They have a happy hour into 6 or 7, and the happy hour drinks I ordered were pretty good! I didn't order food, but I saw the waiter carrying tacos to a table and they looked very delicious. When I went with a group of friends, we were told they couldn't split the check, so one person paid and we all just paid that person back. They also have a nice clean bathroom that has a lot of space. read more

So, I stumbled on the NOLA Art Bar and I recognize that it is a whole entire VIBE in itself. 1. Food The seafood plate was uber good. The fish tasted like it was cooked by someone's grandma and the shrimp tasted like butter and sweet goodness. Seriously, you can get a seafood plate anywhere in the city, but this plate made me want to smack somebody. 2. Drinks The bartender pours a "New Orleans" pour when making the drinks. I like that there is a wide array of choices for a cocktail. I forgot to take a picture, but I had a lemon drop (based on the bartender's suggestion) and it was Perfect. Literally, I do not give perfect stars often, but NOLA art bar is on to something. 3. Service and Ambiance The establishment is fairly new and I am impressed with the southern hospitality that the employees exhibited towards me. My order came out hot and in a timely manner (keep in mind that each order is made to order). The artwork is the main reason why I come by. I love love love the pieces. Basically, this establishment is a great plate for a date, after work cocktails, and or an evening on the town. Overall, Go and try any cocktail. When I walked in, I immediately feel in love with the setup. It has a very conversational and relaxed feel, while maintaining a luxurious atmosphere . We sat at the bar, and our waiter was very helpful when we were trying to decide what to order. Kam ordered the French 75 (a Cognac cocktail). We also ordered the chips and guacamole, shrimp taco, fish taco, and chicken taco. I'm not even a guacamole person, but that was some good guac It was smooth with a nice kick. I also loved the layers of texture on the tacos. The shrimp taco was my favorite - the chili salsa was bomb Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection . They also have live entertainment on a regular basis, and the night we went they hosted a burlesque show. Nice patio area, visited while we were in quarantine and they were following the rules. Everyone was wearing mask, prompt service and the food was excellent. One draw back we couldn't split the check so either have cash handy or work it out with your friends. They couldn't take more than one credit card. Eh. I came here because the reviews were saying this was the hottest spot in the city. I tried to make reservations for 3 on a Saturday night but the website said there were no available tables inside. We arrived and the place was EMPTY! There was only 1 party sitting outside. So I'm confused about their reservation system. We sat outside in the bare, lackluster courtyard. They have little white couches you can sit on and they're filthy! We sat outside for a while and we were getting attacked by mosquitos. The waitress let us move inside which was still empty. The waitress asked if we wanted water and we obliged only to find out we were charged $6.00 for water on the bill. We only got 2 drinks and ended up with an almost 50 dollar bill. This is my new favorite spot. It's in a convenient location right on St Claude. There's definitely a speakeasy vibe given the entrance is hidden. Inside is like a whole different world with incredible music, friendly servers and the chicest clientele. I love the furniture and of course the art, many of which is for sale. There are tons of drink specials and the cheese boards are exquisitely plated. They have tacos as well. I will be going back again and again. read more

When we arrived we learned the show was canceled, the seafood vendor that's scheduled on Friday canceled and since the courtyard was closed due to the weather the indoor seating time was limited. This is a nice space to find good reads, drinks, and music! It is still in developmental stages but great things are on the horizon. An Air B and B is connected to the coffee shop with a nice open courtyard. We visited on a Saturday night and it was not overly crowded. Quiet spot that is still close to the French Quarters but is not too busy to enjoy. read more

Upon receiving our bill we were shocked to find out the bill for water was $12 (bottled and sparkling was a total of $12). We wish had been aware of the price of the water and the included gratuity. Cute spot, but meh.... No one was there on a Friday night for happy hour. We literally had the place to ourselves and now I know why. The "happy hour" drinks are so watered down as to be disgusting. I asked for the French 75 with Cognac, which was on the happy hour menu. I was told that they didn't have the "happy hour" Cognac, but that they did have Cognac. When I got the margarita that I ordered, I understood what was meant....no watered down Cognac available. Then, I ordered a $14 shrimp dish that was sort of cross between BBQ shrimp and chiopino. It was supposed to come with jumbo croutons, but.... no croutons. IT did come with some tasty garlic bread though. Same for the mussels... no jumbo croutons. The 4 shrimp were medium sized shrimp that were so overcooked that I couldn't get the shells off of them. $14 for 4 overcooked medium sized shrimp???? WTF???? The menu here is limited and given the 4 shrimp fiasco, we ended up going someplace else so we could actually get food and feel like we ate something. No live band....just boring! OH, and if they ask you if you would like water as soon as you arrive before you can order a drink, say. "No," unless you want to pay for a bottle of water. It was like the okey doke... who does that???? I felt like I had to stay one step ahead of the restaurant to not be taken advantage of. My friends and I went to Nola Art Bar before hearing some live music on Frenchmen St. They have great cocktail deals and apps/snacks - we ended up getting some Moscow Mules and chips and guac. The live music on a Thursday night was a really nice touch too. I highly recommend Nola Art Bar as a way to start your evening or as a destination itself! It's beautiful inside, but small. When we walked in we were asked if we had reservations and despite not being full we were told the only place to sit was outside without a reservation. Looks like they changed the outdoor decor based on photos, it's a bunch of coffee shop patio tables. We were greeted right away with waters but then surprised to be charged $10 for the water haha! Drinks were okay, but we waited forever!! They brought the drinks out one at a time so by the time one persons drink was done the other persons drink had just arrived. Whenever my vacation ends up in New Orleans (which is fairly often), I search for new restaurants & bars to try. This kept showing up on my radar, so I made a reservation & went there on the very first night of my latest trip. My Lyft driver seemed a bit concerned, as there was no sign & she didn't feel comfortable dropping me off. So she kindly waited until I rang the doorbell & was quickly ushered inside. Although I didn't catch her name, my waitress was really sweet. I don't generally eat in the evenings, but food was required to be on the table, so I simply opted for chips & guacamole. It was really good, though. I had two cocktails - one of which was not on their menu & included sparkling wine/champagne & the other which the bartender switched out one spirit for another at my request. Both drinks were excellent. The bartender, like my waitress, was exceedingly friendly & welcoming. He chatted me up, as I was seated closest to the bar. The space was rather airy & accented with interesting art. Once I'd called another Lyft, I went to the door, but couldn't get out. Another customer came over, explained that the door is always locked, opened it for me & we walked out together. Although my bill seemed slightly high, I'll just put that down to the champagne! Instead of owing the mistake, waitress got aggressive, tapping our table "Well we're a private business so we can do what we want." This was her idea of covering her lie. My friend came for a funeral, she did not need this! Mgt/liar walked away, a male waiter just came to smooth things over. She yelled at him across the courtyard, "I need u now", arms flailing. She didn't need him, place was empty! He was doing a better job as mgt. When we left, she yells thank you, anyone who heard her knew that was a jab. Nola Art Bar is one of my favorite places in the city. The art gallery is captivating, the courtyard is charming and comfortable, and they really have some of the best bartenders in the city.
