This is definitely the place I judged by its cover and I am embarrassed the way I did. I have been working at Tozai plaza for 7 years and this was my first visit. I am fully Japanese, born and raised and this place gets an approval from me. My favorite dish was Ginza roll. I do not usually like Albacore but this albacore was like toro albacore. It melted in my mouth and not metally at all! What made my visit better is their hospitality. The server Sara is such an attentive server with a smile and the vibe! Will definitely come back.

We had ordered a good few rolls, and everything was delicious! There was care in the sushi chef's craft, and the quality was top notch. We ordered the Ginza Roll, Ken's Roll, Lettuce Roll, Salmon Skin Roll, Super Philly Roll, Salmon and Seared Tuna Sushi, the Jalapeño Tempura, and the Gyoza. My favs were the Ginza Roll and Ken's Roll. The Lettuce Roll was close behind, but texturally, the lettuce wasn't jiving for me. The soy paper was perfect for the rest of the roll. Service was quick and polite, and he stopped by the table to check in often (there were only a few other patrons there at the time, and we were happy to chat with him). It's a nice little spot tucked away in the corner of a strip mall. 100% going to go back again.

Time for an update! I don't understand the less than 5 star reviews. As often as we eat here, we've never seen anything described in those reviews. All we've experienced is consistently great service and phenomenally great food! I have seen the super rare customer with a bad attitude ONCE, trying to get food they'd already eaten for free. And even then, they were treated more courteous than I would have. Honestly, people with bad attitudes don't fit this friendly vibe and we're happy to take your seat at the sushi bar!

Specially ordered for my friend's birthday and this is stunning! It is a custom order, not on the menu. If you guys have any special (or even casual) occasions coming up, hit the chef, Paul, up! The staffs are so energetic and welcoming. They even gave us complimentary miso soups. I highly recommend this place!

This is the 2nd time I've eaten here but first time dining in! The 1st time I got takeout and loved everything I got, the chef was even so kind enough to give me complimentary miso soup which was DELICIOUS. This time dining in I couldn't wait to have my boyfriend try it for the first time, let's just say he was speechless. Everything is so fresh, we had to stop ourselves from overdoing it and ordering more. Every roll was amazing and such good quality. Not pictured was the salmon sashimi just because we were so excited to try but it was AMAZING. We definitely left satisfied and HAPPY!

If you're looking for good quality sushi, Happy Sushi is the exceptionally delicious. I loved this place! The cook is amazing and made some of the best sushi in LA! Such a great spot to hang out with your friends and family. The service is fast, and they even gave us free ice cream! Please try this place out if you haven't, this is a must have for sushi enthusiasts.

I've been going to Tomizo since they opened. There were a few months after the initial visit that I…read moredidn't go and I'll explain in a sec, but since then I come probably twice a month now. Ironically speaking, I do not like Sapporo style ramen. I've never been a fan of Miso ramen, and for some reason Sapporo style is just something I do not enjoy. That being said, everyone I know that does like Sapporo style ramen say it is good. But then, why am I giving this place 5 stars and why do I eat here so often? Tomizo added tsukemen to their menu, and they have the best tsukemen in the area. It's a very rich heavy fatty tsukemen, and it blows away everywhere else's tsukemen in the area. The portions are always extremely generous as well. The most important thing is, they use actual tsukemen noodles, they are fat and thick, while a lot of places near here give you ramen noodles for their tsukemen. The other thing I absolutely love about this place is that they have seasonal ramen, and while I'm not a huge fan of some of them, other times they are just amazing. The current seasonal ramen is a cold cream tonkotsu style, and it is absolutely divine. My partner got it last night and it was so good, I wanted to come back tonight to get an order of it myself. I absolutely hope they decide to add it to their main menu permanently, because a cold ramen dish would be a god send to have readily available. The staff are all wonderful, incredibly attentive, and are all very cheerful and upbeat. The music variation changes quite a bit. Sometimes it'll be vocaloid heavy, other times it'll be very late 90s sounds of Tokyo (Fantastic Plastic Machine, Pizzicato Five), or sometimes an early 2000s jpop play list. As someone a little older I don't think there's ever been a time I didn't enjoy the music being played. They also always have dodgers games (reruns during the offseason) playing on a tv for the local fans. The only real bad thing about Tomizo is the parking lot is tiny and shared with a sushi place that can get busy. So parking can be difficult sometimes.

The spice levels are now serious lol, they pour less broth, and the fried rice changed. They skimped out on the meat in the fried rice and the flavor and texture has changed. The restaurant wasn't full yet but it filled up very quickly after we sat down (shortly after Shinsengumi opened). There's a decent amount of seating inside and it's very lively. We had our kids with us and didn't feel too self conscious when they were making a ruckus lol. I got their Tokyo Yatai ramen with extra noodles and an additional side of curry rice. It's a solid meal if you're by yourself. I'm not sure why it's called Yatai but I understand that word is associated with those shop stands that cook food on the side walks. I'm a big fan of food stalls so this bowl of ramen gave me those kind of vibes. I loved it. It was well balanced and the noodles were delicious! The side of curry was delicious too! I'd definitely come back here regardless of what's going on at Shinsengumi next time!

Staff were super attentive and kind. Got the dip ramen (aka tsukemen) in regular size. The portion is just right. Noodles are thick and chewy. The dipping broth is so well flavored and goes amazing when dipped with the noodles. I liked the broth so much I tried it on its own, but it was too salty and not meant to be used for drinking. The ramen came with half an egg, and a slice of chashu. Egg was perfect- not too runny or cooked. Chashu was tender. Really loved this and will definitely come get it again. Fried rice side- really flavorful and tasty. It had some meat pieces and fishcake pieces inside. Gyoza - got the kurobuta and garlic flavor. Unfortunately this fell short of my expectations as the top of the skin wasn't crispy at all. The filling was juicy, but had a bit too much ginger taste to it.

The food was actually quite good. We both had a bowl of the Black Devil ramen at a spice level of 4. I was worried that this would be too much but it was actually a very manageable level of spice. The type of spice where I can still enjoy my food and not have to worry about eating it through hiccups or anything like that. I also had a side of the spicy katsu cutlet, which I also enjoyed very much. They brought me one big piece of chicken katsu and some scissors to cut it up, which I thought was neat. But every bite I had was wonderful, as it was clearly fried to perfection. The service was also on point and our server even let us try some of their devil sauce ( I do not remember if this was what it was called but it sure was spicy). A few drops of this in my bowl of ramen and I began to sweat profusely. She said barely anyone ever orders it and I can totally see why haha. She was also super nice to us and overall provided some excellent service, I did not quite catch her name. The interior of this place also feels quite small, but it is well ventilated. Just be mindful if you get up and walk around because there are people eating to your left and right.
