Pad Thai is very flavorful and tasty, and the seafood scrambled egg noodles are delicious, though there is no chili served with it. Nasi Lemak was good, especially the coconut flavored rice. However the fish is small and bony. The curry Laksa is very tasty, with a lot of fried tofu and crab imitation meat. Char Kway Teow was good, except it is sweet, which caters to Singaporean taste. Worst experience of my "take out" history. I ordered delivery through grubhub (having doing so many times before.). The delivery driver called me an hour and a half after ordering telling me he was "walking up to my house". The problem is I live in an apartment. It all went down hill from there. I tried to guide him go my apartment, but failed. He called his boss (Malcolm) who than called me to tell me "I didn't know my own address". I calmly informed him I have ordered there successfully many times before. He started shouting. To make a long story short my boyfriend and I cancelled our order. I really love this place. I admit, I have an addiction to their Chicken Pad Thai. I get it almost every time I order, but I am also a fan of the Cashew Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Pork Dumplings, and Chicken and Broccoli. I like to order it when I leave work and pick it up about 20 minutes later on the way home. I have never eaten in because it is kind of divey, but it really lends itself more to take out. Online ordering is SUPER easy! Two things keep me from rating 5 stars- the level of spiciness is not very consistant. I never know if my eyes are going to be watering or if the level will be just right. Also, I live 5 minutes away but it always takes an hour for them to deliver. The Dan Dan Noodle dish is off the charts good. I don't know why this place doesn't have better reviews, but at a glance it appears to be mostly complaints about delivery. Can't speak to that, but recommend eating in person for the hole-in-the-wall vibe which complements the authentic food or ordering carry-out. I sampled a lot of spots for the Dan Dan dish in particular and found most to be completely lacking flavour, including Lan's Hand pulled noodles (other dishes there are good). Terrible and Misleading!!! I ordered a dish that on the picture of the menu showed a whole lobster tail and advertised crab meat. I ordered it extremely spicy. When the waitress brought it out, it has no Lobster tail, fake crab and no spice. They went back and added the spice which was weak, but the waitress told me that the lobster was mixed through. I explained there was no lobster mixed through nor was there a lobster tail on top as advertised. She apologized for the false advertising (her words!) The food sucks. Flavors gross. I'm not into bad food and I'm not into the old Bait and Switch! Do not show a picture of a lobster tail on a dish you don't include lobster in! And from reading other reviews, it seems that many other people suffered absurdly long waits for delivery. I picked some food up as a takeout order for dinner one day. We got the Hunan Chicken and Szechuan Chicken. I wanted to love this place because it's right on my way home from work, but both of our meals tasted somewhat bland. Not bad, but not great either. SO glad this place is open after 10 pm. I thought I was going to starve when I found Happy Wok on Yelp. Though it did not have very good rating, I thought of giving it a thought. It's wide menu is amazing- Singapore, Malaysian, Chinese, Thai, Japanese...basically everything Asian/ South- Asian is what they serve. This was the first time I saw Malaysian cuisine mentioned anywhere, so I ended up ordering the typical Malaysian item: Roti Canai with curry. It was really hot, buttery and delicious. The curry that come with it was watery but had good flavor. Maybe next time I will order a chicken curry to go with it. I also ordered the Vegetable Lo Mein. It was really filling and absolutely satisfying. I intentionally saved it for my next day lunch. Hehe. I would love to try more items on the menu. The fact that everything is yummy, cheap and affordable, makes me want to try it again. It's probably not best suited for dining in because the place needs some cleaning and all the furniture is super old, but I always either get it delivered or taken out. I looove their Hunan chicken- it's always consistently tasty. I've also gotten their pad Thai, egg rolls, dumplings, hot and sour soup, wonton soup and Sichuan chicken- all very delicious! Yes I know the restaurant looks kind of dumpy but the food more than makes up for the facade. Their prices are also extremely reasonable and affordable. Today I ordered the lunch special Hunan chicken with an egg roll, white rice, and a large wonton soup all for $9.01 !! I always get my food delivered early or on time. Decided what we wanted. Re-read the menu. Someone came in and rang the bell at the register. A woman came out, gave the customer her carry-out order, shot us a dirty look and retreated into the back. I purchased delivery from the Happy Wok this evening. The delivery time was adequate; about 45 min. The food just wasn't good. I purchased the roti canal, samosas, veggie spring rolls, and donuts. The donuts were definitely the best out of these options. The spring roll was greasy and with very little flavor. The roti bread tasted like cigarette smoke. I didn't like either of the dipping sauces. The samosas were a disaster. In my opinion, the dough of the samosa is what makes it a samosa and unfortunately they simply used a wonton wrapper. Not only that the stuffing was lacking in flavor and freshness. They were over cooked and inedible. So sad I bothered to try this place. Luckily, I didn't spend too much...my total was $16. Do not recommend. Can't wait till the P.F. Changs opens at Briarwood Mall in December 2014. I know they are Americanized Chinese food but at least they are edible and consistent in quality. Whoa. Let me tell you about my experience at Happy Wok. This was my first time ordering from Happy Wok. I ordered online and got my usual take out item - the general tso bean curd. I got the dinner combo plate which comes with fried rice and a chicken egg roll or one of several soup alternatives. The combo with tax and a 10% tip was only $9. When I got to the restaurant, I was about 15 minutes early from my online scheduled time, and it looked as though the employees had just sat down to eat between the lunch and dinner rushes. I was fully ready to wait the 15 minutes and get the food at the time I'd scheduled it, but instead the employees jumped up and got to work and had everything out to me in just 5 minutes. They were extremely polite and friendly and didn't make me feel like a hassle for coming in early, which was much appreciated, and I wish I had some cash on me to tip them extra for their great customer service. Needless to say, my order was straight-from-the-kitchen fresh. I was starving, so I ate the egg roll during the drive home. I don't eat a lot of meat so I had considered swapping for the soup, but boy howdy am I glad I didn't. That was, hands down, the best egg roll I have ever eaten in my life. That egg roll alone is the reason I'm writing this Yelp review, and I would more than happily go back to Happy Wok solely for their egg rolls. Thick, crunchy, stuffed with goodness...it was everything I never knew I wanted in an egg roll. They included some kind of dipping sauce for it, but (obviously, since I was driving) I had it plain and now I would never imagine ruining such a delicious treat. Now, I've heard rumors that Happy Wok has the best general tso chicken in town. I didn't know if this meant the sauce, the way the chicken was breaded and cooked, or the combination thereof, so I wasn't sure how well that "best" would translate itself to the bean curd. But holy cow. The main course, if you will, was large chunks of tofu, thickly coated in a (most likely) cornstarch batter and fried to perfection. Crunch on the outside, warm creamy goodness on the inside, these tofu chunks would have been tasty on their own, but then you add the magic ingredient: the sauce. I don't know quite how to explain it other than it isn't like that regular, sugary-sweet, jelly-like sauce you often get. This was fresh, homemade, actually spicy, and not concerningly gelatinous. Side note about the spice level - you're able to choose how hot you want it. I chose "extra spicy." So often Chinese takeout leaves me wanting in the spicy department and while this wasn't as painfully spicy as I was hoping, I could actually taste the spice and there was a nice warmth to it. There are a few cons, as there are with everything. First, the restaurant itself. It was a cramped space with very few tables and with the traditional dated Chinese restaurant decor. I would recommend ordering take out and not eating in. Second, the fried rice is just okay. I'm not a big rice fan in the first place though, so perhaps I'm not the best judge (hence why I'm not docking a star for it). It looked like typical fried rice with onions and egg fried up in there. It had an odd flavor to it though, which I think might be from the kind of oil they use. I'm not sure though, and like I said, I'm not a rice fan anyway. Third, I wish there was more broccoli included with the bean curds. Obviously it only says it includes bean curds, but there were a few broccoli florets steamed in there with the sauce. I'm a huge fan of getting broccoli with my Chinese food, so I was personally disappointed there wasn't more. That being said, I know some restaurants that don't include any at all, so I guess beggars can't be choosers. All in all, I was very pleased with both the food and the customer service at Happy Wok and I'm greatly looking forward to trying more dishes and visiting again. read more

The shrimp kung pao was actually really good, as was the rice. My only complaint was that the vegetables were cut very thick and chunky, and there was not a good vegetable to shrimp ratio. Short version: Delivery time for lunch was unacceptably long (1 hour and 40 minutes) and impacted the quality of the food. Even had it been delivered fresh the food would have been average Chinese take-out at best. Longer version: I ordered steam dumplings and honey pineapple chicken via campusfood.com at 10:35am on a Friday. This was a mere 5 minutes after Happy Wok opens, so I cannot imagine there were many orders in front of me. Even with a very simple order, my food took more than 90 minutes to be delivered. At 75 minutes, I called the restaurant and the gentleman who answered the phone implied they had been waiting for enough customers to make delivery orders before sending a driver out. Even though they waited a mighty long to deliver my food, I think they cooked the order immediately because everything was soggy. For the honey pineapple chicken, they used those chicken fingers takeout Chinese places often use with sweet and sour chicken, and by the time it was delivery, the chicken was a puffy, soggy mess. The flavors of the food was decent enough, so going in and picking up the food could yield a better experience...but I certainly won't order delivery again. read more
