My favorite Chinese food restaurant! It's affordable and tasty. I'm moving out of state and this will be one place I really miss.

I gave this place two stars for the orange chicken. Chow mien was overlooked and had wayyy to much cabbage. It was basically cabbage with the noodles on the side. The Kung pao was not spicy at all and the chicken tasted weird to me. The veggies with the king pao were not great, really overcooked. You get a lot of food for the money But the food just wasn't great. I would rather have Panda Express and we all know thats not even authentic Chinese. Also the restaurant just didn't seem clean in general. That kind of turns you off too. read more

I grew up here & have been coming to this place for as long as I can remember! Price is amazing when your on a budget 1 plate can feed two people easily, they give you so much food!! Price & amount is definitely 5 star worthy, but the place it self is a tad bit outdated. Bathrooms are nasty here! And the food is okay not super good but definitely good for the price! DISGUSTING!! I just left there right now and had to write a review ASAP! What ever you do avoid this place. It felt as if i was eating someones leftovers from 2 days ago. The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because the selection is a bit limited but the food is great and its very inexpensive. When you are getting your order they will pack your plate. They are not stingy with the food so you get more for what you pay. I love this place. I have been coming here for the past 3 1/2 yrs and I will continue to go in the future. I'm sorry to say this cause the owner was nice to me and gave me a sample of the bbq pork but this place kinda sucks. The orange chicken tasted like it was sitting there for days. The curry was watery. There are definitely better cheap Chinese food elsewhere. read more

Dear Diners: I can only said I will NOT be returning to this Restaurant any time soon. With a current Los Angeles County rating of "B", I should have heeded the warnings, it's NOT surprising with RUDE customer service that what I was to witnesse next was epically disgusting: I saw a cook drop a piece of chicken to the floor, he then collected it and placed back in the Wok. Thinking that was shocking, I was to be flabbergasted by next thing I observed: witnessing the clearing off of the eating tables by staff using the same cleaning cloth to clean the floor and table. I was lefted speedless and in disbelief on what I just obeserved!!!! I immediately walk out of the Restaurant leaving my meal on the table. As the saying goes "SHIT IN, SHIT OUT" be careful! Best management practices are NOT in play at this establishment. Do not place yourself and/or your family at risk to save a few pennies on a meal. Stay away! The reviews on here are wrong. Upon my arrival, I noticed they didn't have to many selections to choose from. I got some chow mien and orange chicken with a egg roll. As I was paying I noticed how dirty the kitchen looked. That turn me off. Once, I opened up my plate to eat. I was met by a burning smell that seem to be coming from the chow mien. The chow mien was oil and semi dry and burned to taste. (Like they reheated left overs, from previous night.) Orange chicken was mushy from outside and the inside was very hard to chew. I notice the meat didn't quite look like chicken. It was a darker meat. I spent 6.12 all together but I wasn't going to take anymore chances. I tried and hates it. I threw it away. Happy Wok..what can I say about this place. Small little fast food chinese place where its really cheap and the selections are few. The thing is the food is not that great but man is it cheap and they have fried shrimp (6) for like 3 bucks and though the selection only consists of like 6-8 items its fresh because this place always has people in it. This place is located in a shopping center near the Pollo Loco in Pico Rivera. This place also has like a cult following. It's amazing how many people talk about this place. I wish it was cleaner...but maybe it just means they need to clean more often and not necessarily better. That's the only bad thing. The food is great, the portions are absolutely huge and the service is ALWAYS friendly. This matters a great deal...I'm only being honest when I say that with most Asian owned shops or stores in this city you can feel eyes staring at you...but here, you are welcomed, spoken to and not at and sent off happy. Looked decent so decided to try it out. Small place. Smaller selection of food than I'm used to. Tried the fried pork rice, BBQ pork and string bean chicken. The rice and chicken were salty. I don't know what about the rice made it "fried" especially since it was just white rice with a few bits if pork in it. The BBQ pork was ok, better than the other 2 items, but some of the pieces were on the salty side as well. They do give generous servings, so if you want large quantities this is your place. It had a consistent trickle of people going in and out. Maybe other dishes are better. I won't return based on the quality and selection. Two words "Extremely greasy!"I used to like the wok. But I stopped going here because the ingredients changed. The food is greasy I remember the food wasn't greasy before. The food is pretty good for the price. Their portion size was huge, so that was nice. I only gave it 4 stars because when my husband asked for steamed veggies instead if noodles or rice, it seemed like the associates didn't know what to do with the request and kept asking each other what to do. So the boss came over n got Into the 5 minute conversation and said no. Which was fine, but kind of embarrassing waiting for 5 minutes while 3 people had to ask what to do about the veggies. I absolutely love this place. My family has been eating here since before I was born. Their food is really good tasting for a really cheap price, and the portions hear are amazing. 2-3 combos can feed a family of 6 easy. Their Orange Chicken is delicious as well as their BBQ Pork. Right now I'm in love with their Sweet and Sour Chicken and Steamed rice. I have moved all over So Cal and even to San Francisco but when I'm in town I always stop by Happy Wok for some very delicious Chinese food. Highly recommend this place! read more
