Every Chinese food place is different in terms have how they prepare their food and this location checks many boxes for me. First - my order always arrives much earlier than what GrubHub initially tells me. Second - the food is super yummy. My go to is usually a bowl or combo with chow mein and green bean chicken. So yeah, it's NYE and we're hungry. We thought we'd get something quick and easy. So this place came up and we thought we'd give it a try. So I got our order in (chop suey, orange chicken and egg rolls) and showed up a few minutes later. It wasn't ready and I understood. I asked that since we were eating in the car, may I have 3 plates and a few forks. With a serious face, the girl says that each 8' styrofoam plate was .50 EACH!!! I am a professional negotiator. I actually negotiate large contracts daily. Like hundred of thousands...sometimes millions of dollars are negotiated. I was stuck. We were eating in the car. I had no other options here except eating with our hands directly from the box. We weren't at a standoff yet, but i was in "back against the wall" mode. I had no other choice. I had to cave. My voice actually cracked as I squeaked out an "ok." So I gave her my card and waited. My MIL was with us and needed to use the bathroom. She walked past the vato locos chilling in the parking lot and came in as I was waiting for the receipt. I asked the lady at the counter if they had a bathroom and she looked at me like I had a lobster crawling on my shoulder. This was not a rhetorical question. This wasn't a small talk question. This question required an answer. I had her. NOW SHE WAS THE ONE WHO WAS PINNED TO THE WALL. She blankly said "yes." I looked at her and expected a " would you like to use it?" NOW FOR THE FOOD. Chop Suey, Orange chicken and egg rolls is pretty easy to cook. You learned every culinary skill needed back in 12th grade in Home Econ. (Those under 40 might want to look up what that is.) The food was good. It was fresh. It was hot and quite tasty. No complaints about the food at all. EXCEPT THEY FORGOT TO INCLUDE THE EGG ROLLS. Yep, after all the rude BS and being held hostage twice in one night (the plates and bathroom stuff) they forgot the friggin egg rolls. I would never expect to find decent Chinese food in Pico Rivera, but this place changed my mind! :) This place looks like one of those cheap, Americanized-Chinese food to-go places, but don't be fooled. The food is really good (and this is coming from a Chinese person)! They give you generous portions! And the food is authentic Chinese food. The chef speaks Cantonese and he's a really nice Chinese man. My favorite entrees are: Tangerine chicken, mushroom chicken, chicken with green beans, and jalapeno chicken. I always order their 2-item combo with half fried rice/half chow mein. And I can make two meals out of this, all for under $7! They also have tapioca milk tea and thai iced tea w/ boba. :) I haven't tried it yet, but whenever I'm craving boba, will give it a try. For starters, the pics on Yelp looked great, I walked in took a look at the food and they weren't exactly like the Yelp pictures but the food didn't look bad. Ordered a 3 meat combo, their prices are pretty up there, this combo was 10.99 before taxes. I expected to get a hooked up plate for that price but the plate was served normal, about a half scoop more on the sides than Panda Express. Either way I wouldn't go back, for that price, the flavors are just not there. I might have to make the 15 minute drive to my regular spot.
