We were sick of driving around seeing every restaurant packed, until we passed up Harbor Cafe. Wanting to try something different we turned around. As we walked up we could see people sitting outside on the patio enjoying music. So far I was digging the vibe. We enter the establishment to find the hostess stand, minus the hostess. There was also some random Chinese trinkets available for sale on the wall. Strange. Finally the incompetent hostess arrives after a couple of minutes and seats us with no silverware or napkins. This was all red flags as what was to come. WAITSTAFF: She was extremely nice and helpful. Kept up on the refills, made suggestion when we were struggling to order, and everything was brought out in a timely manner. MENU: It was too big, had typical surf and turf. BUT, there was a random page full of Chinese. Wait, what???!! I can get everything from Italian, a steak, coconut shrimp, to chicken fried rice? Needless to say if I want Chinese, I'll order Chinese take out....not go to an American looking restaurant with everything on the menu! Extensive drink menu. Maybe people come here for just the drinks? DECOR: It has the steakhouse look with faux flowers that need to be tossed due to the dust it attracts. Chinese and aqua marine decor adorned the walls as well. There was also a random fireplace at the entrance that gave it a Cracker Barrel feel. Also a chandelier in the middle of the dining room, I suppose to give it a luxurious look. I'd say this place is in need of an extreme makeover. FOOD: *Sigh* We ordered the Louisiana bacon cheese fries which were hardly Louisiana. Just because something has spicy seasoning on it, doesn't mean it's Cajun. They could've used more cheese and bacon. My main dish was the Jumbo Orange shrimp with asparagus and a side salad. Jumbo orange shrimp were hardly jumbo coated in panko crumbs served with this sweet, spicy sauce. They weren't bad. My asparagus however tasted frozen and like someone sprinkled a little table salt on. The broccoli on the plate was frozen as well. Not good. On the other hand my side salad was pretty good. I really liked the croutons. My husband had the mahi mahi and some type of spicy shrimp with a pinch of crab meat and mashed potatoes. His mahi mahi was dry and bland. They went overboard with the spicy seasoning again on his shrimp and crab. It seems they just toss it on there because they don't really know how to season it or what else to use. And the potatoes were instant. You could tell. PRICE: Pricey for the low quality food. I don't come to restaurants to eat frozen broccoli, instant potatoes I can buy at Kroger's cheaper, plus save on the gas out here. --------OVERALL------ We should've took the empty booths, lack of wait time as a sign to turn around and eat elsewhere (or wait). Due to the low quality food, we won't be back. Sorry Harbor Cafe, but your food sucks. Perhaps you should ring Chef Ramsey to revamp your restaurant, because it doesn't seem to be bringing in the business on a Saturday evening near the first of the month. read more

Very good meal. They had a special going on the dish that I wanted. I could add shrimp to my salmon for $1.99 more when it was originally $3.99 more. Good deal and worth every penny. The steamed veggies had a slight butter taste but wasnt overwhelming. Mashed patatoes were tasty and you could tell they were mashed up, not out of box or powder. Really good meal. My friend went to Harbor Cafe several times before, so much that the owner recognizes him. He gave us a free piece of chocolate cake with whip cream on the side. This is the second time I have tried this restaurant and it is the second time I've been disappointed. Service has been friendly each time so that hasn't been an issue for me. I will say that I have observed some of the other waiters and bartenders being extremely loud. That's really annoying. But what is unforgivable is food quality. The first time I came here when the food came it was so bad I couldn't eat it. With the name of Harbor House you would think they are a seafood restaurant. They are not. It was horribly over cooked and lacked flavor. So this time I opted for the prime rib special. The waitress let me know it would be smothered I asked for them to leave that off. I don't smother steaks or use steak sauce. If it is prepared well a steak would never need smothering. I asked for cheese and butter only for my baked potato. I asked for my prime rib medium rare. It came back well overdone. The MARGARINE for my potato came out in a ramekin. Unfortunately, there was sour scream under it. Gross. At least this time I could eat the steak. Wasn't prepared correctly but it was edible. Margarine on anything is just nasty so baked potato was left on the plate. I ordered a margarita and it was not good. You could tell that the shaker wasn't washed and my margarita had a distinct coconut flavor. Mind you I got here at 2:45. Place was nearly empty and the bar was certainly dead. The tables are in dire need of scrubbing as well the salt and pepper shakers. Place gets two stars only because both times I have come in the servers were sweet. They need more training for sure. My server thought my steak was cooked correctly. NEVER tell a patron she is wrong. I grew up in upscale restaurants. In my twenties I managed a steak house in Dallas. I felt almost compelled to correct her on the spot but again not her fault. Her training clearly has been poor. I give anyplace a couple of shots to get it right. This place is well established. It was edible but not good. Don't waste your money and don't waste your time. The menu is as eclectic as the decor. It has everything from burgers to pasta to stir fry and back to lobster. We ordered a Philly cheesesteak and general tso chicken. Tso's chicken was decent. It came with an egg roll and fried rice. I always love egg rolls and it didn't disappoint. The fried rice was ordinary no vegetable fried rice. The cheesesteak was thinly sliced and on a baguette but that's where the positives end. It had too much cheese (something I wouldn't object to normally) but it tasted like white American cheese (I love my 'Merica but the crap we call cheese is practically plastic) and it lacked flavor. Harbor Cafe is an interesting experience. The building is beautiful inside and out, the food presentation was spot on, and the mixed drinks were delicious. However, the atmosphere seemed crowded, the prices were high for what we received, and the food didn't seem exceptional to justify the price. Harbor Cafe sits on Lowe's Drive, cornering Wilma Rudolph Boulevard. As said before, the building is beautiful. However, the entrance is not where I expected, facing the entrance of the parking lot. In fact, it faces the retaining wall at the back of the plot, something I considered a strange place to put an entrance. It wasn't clearly marked or indicated, and the placing left me wondering if I was entering a side door or employee entrance. Once inside, I noticed that the decor was very attractive and warm. Staff were well-dressed and walked with purpose, a good distinction from some restaurants with servers milling about with nothing to do. I had a friend inside who had already secured a table, and he escorted me inside the dining room itself. Therefore, I have no experience with the host staff. Our server was polite, though there was enough of a din in the room that I couldn't make out her name. Our table was close to others, as I expected to better accommodate more customers, but I very soon began to feel claustrophobic. This may not mean much coming from an introvert, so take that as you will. The menu was large and unwieldy. Prices were high. The cheapest steak they had was an eight-ounce sirloin for $16.50. I'm not a rich man, but I am capable and willing to pay for an expensive cut if it's worth it in either quality or quantity. That was not the case here. The steak was $2 an ounce, a high price, and so I expected the quality to vastly outweigh the cost. While it was cooked to my preferred temperature (mid-rare), however, it was rather bland. I could have cooked this steak on my grill at home, and likely made it tastier. For $16.50, I absolutely expected more, and I didn't get it. My friends had similar opinions. Our food was cooked right, and one of my friends and his wife enjoyed their calimari, but the steaks were underwhelming for everyone, especially when considering how much we paid for them. Perhaps that's our fault. Harbor Cafe is themed after seafood, and so I fully expect them to specialize in that style of food. Perhaps if I wanted the steak I was expecting, I would be better served eating at a dedicated steakhouse. A bright point, however, was the drinks. This may not say much, as I expect it doesn't take a lot to enjoy a mixed drink, but we absolutely loved our drinks. In particular, the Fishbowl was delicious. Everyone at the table partook in this (say what you will about that), and we all agreed that drink was worth every penny they charged. Our own individual drinks were also delicious, very attractively presented (garnish and all), and were reasonably priced. All in all, Harbor Cafe was a mixed bag. It was attractive inside and out, and the staff were certainly busy. I have really disappointed in this experience. I decided to drop in for a nice lunch prior to attending an event. The pictures look amazing and the staff is so friendly but, the food is very underwhelming. I ordered the broccoli cheese soup and pasta with shrimp and scallops. The soup was very salty and tasted as if it came out of a can (literally the tubs of Panera soup that you get from Sam's tastes fresher). The dinner rolls were definitely store bought and served cold but, the greatest disappointment was my entree. I ordered the scallops and shrimp pasta and it lacked flavor, my garlic bread was soft and mushy. The shrimp were tiny and the scallops were very thing (as if cut in half). Pros: Staff is really friendly, wearing masks, restaurant was clean. Okay... we went on a Sunday night. No wait. We had a party of three adults and a child. The menu is very scattered. Steaks, Seafood, burgers, and then some Chinese-style dishes. We got the combo appetizer which had calamari, dumplings, and crab Rangoons. Calamari were soggy. Dumplings were good and crab rangoons were average. My husband got the fish and chips. The fish itself was fried red snapper and it was delicious. The breading was great. The fries were unseasoned and limp. My mother got the seafood platter. $38 worth of extremely overcooked and rubbery crab legs, a chewy and overcooked lobster tail, and very average grilled shrimp. It was served with a lime. No lemon, no drawn butter. Strange. I got the crab and shrimp Cajun Alfredo at the recommendation of the server. It was just okay. It was under seasoned for sure. Noodles were a little overdone. The shrimp seemed like they were the very small frozen style shrimp similar to the ones in the shrimp Alfredo at Red Lobster. The crab meat was kind of meh. The parmesan tasted okay but when I bit into it.. there was plastic inside the sandwich from the packaging I guess but it was no problem, I took that part off. My grandmother bit into her catfish sand which and it wasn't done.. looked like it wasn't cooked long enough and it had a really strong fish taste. My food was not cooked right and after asking the manager to fix it she refuses and instead of just recooking what i had asked for she brings out nasty thrown together chicken which wasn't asked for.. After finally getting the food I leave because I've had enough of the poor customer service.. now fast forward to the next day and now my food is leftovers so I put it in the oven which is a pork chop to warm up because it's so thick. I start cutting into it and I find it raw in the inside.. I called to speak to a manger which at this time is another man who says he's in a rush and hangs up on me before he really hear me out so I call back and he says what do you want I hate this job I'll quit and hangs up again. We made a last minute decision to try this place when our original restaurant choice (Chili's) had a 30 minute wait. The service was 5 stars. From the man who seated us to the waitress who took our order, everyone was very friendly, and it made the whole experience awesome. The food was mediocre, but the service more than made up for it. We were a party of eight, and the food came out very quickly. Kids were extremely happy with their cheese quesadilla and chicken fingers. Mother in law loved her Hawaii chicken dish. Husband ordered steak and sweet potato fries which was very flavorful. My Singapore chicken dish wasn't very good, but it wasn't bad either. Prices were decent. Best part of the night was the fist bumps that the host gave us upon departure. My son inquired "is it free?" And then we all laughed and shouted, "Free Fist Bumps!" Fun night. I was visiting from California and my family went to have lunch here. The service was outstanding the owners are very kind. The food was amazing as well. They really had about anything you might want from pasta to seafood to burgers to Chinese to steak and much more. I really could not find a reason to complain about anything. The menu is a bit large as a result not everything can obviously be fresh thus I can't give 5 stars BUT let me tell you what You what I have enjoyed: The chicken lettuce wraps. They are great--the sweetness with the lettuce crunch and freshness and tasty chicken is full of flavor. Now if you like mixed drinks (depends on the bartender) they are good and strong. My wife and I have also enjoyed quite a few of the Chinese food selections. You can't go wrong. Speaking with the chef and manager they really take pride in cooking the Asian food. My feel from them is that the Asian food tends to be fresh as are the specials. Some of the expanded menu items I think are an attempt to cater to "all of Clarksville" which might be a bit of a stretch for any restaurant. But if you go in for the specials and ask the wait staff for suggestions you won't go wrong. Enjoy! read more

I see so many people give this place bad reviews. I personally don't understand why. The reason why it's rarely busy is because people read these bad reviews and get scared off. My family and I go there several times and have yet to have a bad experience. Yes, the owner is Asian, so??? The severs are always nice and helpful. The owner usually checks on us to make sure everything is ok. The food is quick and in my opinion very good. They have awesome drink specials (2 for 1 margarita is my favorite) They owned another restaurant on Trenton rd, which sadly shut down because of the lack of business, due to bad reviews, which I don't understand. Good drink specials- we can only speak for the margaritas which weren't too limey like you usually get, they were pretty good. Service wasn't bad but wasn't great. The table and menus were sticky which is always a little off putting. For food we tried the sampler appetizer of calamari, crab rangoons, and potato skins. Nothing was great, that's why we didn't bother to photograph it. We couldn't bring ourselves to order an entree to avoid further disappointment. read more

This is a great restaurant! My boyfriend and I have been several times and we really just both love going to Harbor Cafe The staff is very nice. They greet you as soon as you walk in the door, they shake your hand and make you feel very comfortable.
