Beautiful harbor views, great friendly service, and some of the freshest seafood around! The fish, shrimp, and clams were all delicious. This is definitely a must stop if you're in the area. Make sure you time your visit for sunset, the views are absolutely beautiful! Highly recommend!

You're on the harbor, looking out at the harbor. 10/10 for location. The bowl of clam chowder comes in a paper cup which I didn't care for. The clam chowder itself is decent. Solid 7/10 for the chowder. Fish & chips is fried in avocado oil now, which is great. Still a lil too greasy but good nonetheless. Fries were a lil overcooked but decent. I would definitely come back again to try more of the menu. Solid 4/5. Great location. They also openly say you don't have to tip if you don't want to which I appreciate. Still tip ppl! I saw someone's burger order and it looked amazing. Will be back to try that burger!

Harbor Fish & Chips is one of those places that never needed to change because they got it right the first time. The fish is always fresh, flaky, and never fishy tasting. The batter is light, crisp, and not greasy, which is exactly what you want from good fish and chips. Add their tartar sauce, a little malt vinegar, and honestly one of the best coleslaws around, and the whole plate just comes together perfectly. The shrimp was also a hit with us. Big, crispy shrimp with just the right amount of batter so it still feels light and not overwhelming. This made for such a great family lunch, but we've been coming here for over 10 years, so nothing about this is surprising. It is just as good as it was the first time, and it truly never misses.

Counter service restaurant right on the water in the harbor. Probably the best fish and chips I've ever head!! Cole slaw was good as well. Had bottled beer available. Cocktail sauce had no horseradish in it that I could taste. It was more like ketchup and hot sauce I will definitely go back next time I'm in town!!

Met my daughter there for her birthday lunch. Great, quick service. Pleasant outdoor seating. Attached is a pic of my fish sandwich and her fish taco-both HUGH, and good prices. However, the fish itself was poor quality and very wateryIf we go back, I would opt for the sea bass platter

I've had this restaurant bookmarked for about 15 years. Lack of parking can really deter me from visiting a place. Well, today I met my fish and chips connoisseur friends here. Parking wasn't that bad but it was a little walk. We all ordered the fish and chips. We had the Captain's special that came with 2 pieces fish, 2 shrimps, and fries. We had a nice seat outside by the water. The lady at the register was super friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. We all started eating. The first thing we all noticed was how greasy the fish(and shrimp) were. The fish was also pretty thin, not a nice chunk of cod like we are used to. The fish was very similar to a piece of tilapia. My husband and my friend had a hollow crust too as there was just batter and no fish on the ends. Overall, disappointing after waiting this long to try it.

Stopped for lunch and ordered the Friday special Sampler Plate. 1 piece of batter-fried fish and 2 pieces of batter-fried shrimp, French fries, a cup of clam chowder, and coleslaw. When I picked up my order, I was stunned by how huge the piece of fish was - hung over both sides of the 12" plate! The fish was juicy and tasty - 5, the shrimp were okay but nothing special - 3.5, clam chowder was good with enough clam pieces to satisfy me - 4, French fries were okay - 3, coleslaw was good - 4. The serve-yourself tartar sauce and cocktail sauces were disappointing - the cocktail sauce had an off putting flavor with no hint of horseradish taste; the tartar sauce was bland. But for $20, I thought the value was good, and I will return when I have an urge for fish and chips.

It takes me a couple of tries to really review a place. After my 4th time back here I'm a fan, that's how you know this place values quality. The shrimp is fantastic and the fish just pairs well with the 3 sauces they let you try! The lovely people that run this place makes you believe this is home. (small tip, I ALWAYS get the small clam chowder on the side. Trust me it's worth it.)

Small Fish & Chips ($14) - The highlight was the batter, which was perfectly crispy. I wish it was a thicker cut of fish, but it was still so good and paired well with their tartar sauce and malt vinegar. I also appreciated how thick the fries were, but they could've had more seasoning.

This is are second time coming for lunch the food is great and you can sit inside or outside! The food is ordered at the counter and they call your number when ready! We both had Fish and chips but changed the chips to Onion rings!

Dont let the size fool you. Its mostly fried air.

Probably and easily the worst fish and chips I've ever had. Firstly, they only have cod for their fish and chips. If you know fish, you know thats the worst to have cause is not even fulfilling or meaty. Is a skinny strip covered with fried batter. The taste was horrible, I had to use extra salt and at least their fish sauce was good. I kept dipping the fish on it. Don't even get me started on the fries. Hard and slightly burnt. No flavor other than their avocado oil. Needless to say, I went to my room with a stomach ache that is lasting a little longer than I'd like. My escort had the fish tacos. Same, it look gigantic and he was so excited but it deflated as he took a bite. Same kind of deal a ton of fried batter and a skinny slice of cod. 50 bucks wasted. I don't recommend it at all. It was rather empty compared to the other spots and now I know why. Will not be coming back and I hope to forget the whole experience.

Awesome! Not often do I say that, for an order at the counter, fast food place. But Harbor Fish & Chips was awesome! And sitting out by the Harbor watching the boats come and go and the setting sun, amazing! Full disclosure, I'm not a big fish fan, unless it's shellfish, I don't like the fishy taste and everyone tells you, "this doesn't taste fishy" and it does. And this was the best fish I've ever had. It was so delicious melt in your mouth and literally no fish flavor at all. We had the Fish Taco, it's big, hanging out on both ends with their fried fish. 5/5 Shrimp, battered and a little spicy (not hot just flavor) flavor to it. 5/5 Fish and chips, so tender and yummy! 5/5 Comes with fries or Cole Slaw. Cocktail sauce, Tartar sauce and katchup plus other available condiments. I noticed they had hamburgers and chicken sandwiches available as well, but truly you should try the fish! Must try place in San Diego for fast food!

Fish, shrimp and chips. So crispy and good

OMG I'm still dreaming of the food from here. Made a stop on the way to San Diego and I wish I had not because I want more! Lol The harbor was busy and parking can be difficult to find. The guy working the counter was welcoming and friendly and took our order quickly. There are quite a few tables inside and outside as well. We got the sampler plate which comes with fish, shrimp, fries, clam chowder and coleslaw. This was the best fried fish I've ever had. The batter was crispy with good flavor it didn't even need the malt vinegar or tartar sauce. Best clam chowder I've had to date and coleslaw was so fresh and tasty. I would definitely drive out of my way to come back and eat here again!

The kind of view where you catch yourself staring at the water like you're in a dramatic movie scene, contemplating life, love, and whether you should order another martini. But today the bar area and atmosphere captured our attention. The place is clean, elegant, and effortlessly classy. Not pretentious, just that perfect "I'm on the coast living my best life" energy. The atmosphere is warm, breezy, and polished enough that even the silverware feels like it pays rent. Service was excellent, the team took care of us like VIP guests at a private tasting. Attentive, friendly, and smooth. No chaos, no attitude, no disappearing acts. Just genuine hospitality that makes you think, "Yeah... this is why Oceanside stays winning." We only stopped in for drinks, but you know, that did not happen. Now let's talk about the fresh, amazing ceviche tostada, because this thing deserves its own paragraph, its own applause, and honestly maybe its own mural. The fish, "Wow"...packed with flavor, Fresh...fresh. The citrus? Bright enough to wake your soul. The seasoning? Balanced like it studied meditation. And the fresh avocado? Thick, creamy slices that sit on side like royalty. This tostada didn't come to play, it came to change your mood, your day, and possibly your future plans. Now my martini is talking...ha ha ha. It's the kind of dish that makes you consider ordering two more "just to confirm the flavor profile." "Bloody Mary Oyster Shots" These shots were dangerously delicious. Spicy, briny, bold, and smoother than a pickup line from someone who actually knows what they're doing. You take one and immediately think: "Yep... we're definitely doing another round." They were fresh, flavorful, and honestly? A little too good. The kind of shot that makes you question why you ever settled for regular Bloody Marys in your life. This was the main reason for stopping by, the "Amazing Dirty Filthy Martinis" Ah yes... the dirty filthy martinis, the ones you enjoyed at the bar while soaking in the ambience and plotting your next visit. Perfectly chilled. Perfectly briny. Perfectly filthy. Mmmmmm hmmmm, These martinis were so good they should come with a warning label. And the bartenders? On point. Skilled, fast, friendly, and clearly proud of their craft. You can tell they're the type who could make a martini blindfolded and still nail it. The ceviche tasted like Poseidon himself personally approved it. The oyster shots were so good they convinced me to order a few more rounds. So delicious! And those martinis? Filthy enough to make you blush, classy enough to make you behave. This place is clean, elegant, delicious, and run so well. Special thanks to the staff and management! This past Sunday, I brought my family and parents to hope that one meal can be salvaged as being enjoyable from our very forgetful and disastrous 2-day meal journey in this city. We packed up from our hotel and getting ready to go back to the valley this was our farewell early dinner. Was pleased to see not only a few spots parking available, but that the restaurant was around 30% full. Then the paranoia set in (why is it only 30% full?) Asked and got a perfect seat in the back patio, shaded and overlooking marina. Our server Roman was great so I will give that...but take everything else. When you receive your entire order in less that 8 minutes after ordering in a seafood restaurant, its generally not a good sign. And after looking at and tasting the dishes, it was sadly evident that most of the food here is pre-cooked and quick heated or my guess, microwaved. The rundown: 1 order of a dozen oysters...fortunately these cannot be nuked, so they were delish (A+) But...it ends there. The fish and chips: Pretty good (B) not great, had a good fries and coleslaw but all downhill from there. Shrimp Scampi (moms order) beyond abysmal (F-) zero garlic on the shrimp, huge and tasteless 100% farm-raised shrimp, and a beyond pathetic reheated half ass toasted garlic bread that 7-Eleven would serve much better. This was an epic fail, A to Z zero resemblance of a scampi. Swordfish steak (my dish) clearly not cooked to order, it was nuked, along with the sides of veggies and rice. (C-) The dishes literally looked like hospital food and the sides tasted like them; the rice and veggies on my dish and my wife's which was the... Snapper and Shrimp combo....panko crusted wording on the menu reeled us in, but it was covered in a very odd and crappy creamy sauce, another easy fail and again...clearly reheated or nuked to order. (D-) The clam chowders are nice thickness wise but can't be more obvious they are canned. I like any clam chowder but in terms of made from scratch or freshness, it's an F. Taste wise I'd say a B-. So this meal just about confirmed for our family that this city is nothing but an overpriced tourist trap high-ends or low. I think next time visiting here will just stick to in and out, del taco and bagels near our hotel, period. With all due respect, truly surreal how people rate this place anything above a 3* MAX, unless you grew up eating Filet-o-Fish sandwiches at McDonalds.
