Pretty decent fish and chips. The fillets are generous here and it wasn't too greasy. The batter was nice and crisp. The fries are well made. The calamari is nicely battered and had a great texture (chewy but not rubbery). I can see why people would say the food is a bit bland here but I kind of liked how you could season it to your own liking. There's dog friendly outdoor seating. Ate there last night. Although this is a sit down restaurant it is mostly a walk to place as there is virtually no parking. It's right next to the beach itself. The fish & Chips are good but there were a couple things that I wasn't wild about. 1. The clam chowder had clams but they do a slight spice kick and all the clam chowder flavor is gone. 2. This is the rub for me. I hate cheap. They were $2.75 for a medium soda and wanted to charge me another $2.75 for a refill. COME ON guys. Soda is pennies. Not sure if that's the norm or not. - They have lots of seating and are packed on the weekends so obviously some ppl like it, could have been tourists since it was summer when we went. Yesterday, my wife, daughter and myself had lunch at this restaurant. The service was excellent. Very friendly and inviting. We had the fish and chips basket with coleslaw and two burgers with fries. The fish was amazing. So crispy and delicious and the coleslaw was a great complement. The burgers were very tasty and the fries were crisp and flavorful. We ate outside on a very clean picnic table equipped with condiments perfect for fish and chips. They also had a nice choice of condiments and plastic forks and spoons available inside. The indoor dining area was very attractive and fun, with lots of different fish mounted on the walls . Really cool. A side note. I had my wallet fall out of my pants pocket that I was unaware of until I got home. I called them and was informed that they had found it would keep it secure. I drove back to get it and everything was fine. The staff there has shown incredible integrity, a rare attribute these days, and I can't thank them enough. read more

I love coming here because the food is good and you can feel the cool breeze from the ocean as you eat. They have some cool fishing memorabilia that showcases Oceanside's rich history. My experience has been going down and down each time I return to this place which I'll never do again. - I witnessed cooks with sleeveless shirts on. Armpit hair out over food.. - order taker was rude when we had a misunderstanding about seasoning said calm down to me bc I wanted clarification - when my order was called I walk up to an old lady and the order taker talking over my food and pointing. I assume he was telling her what my order was but they were literally talking over my food, I'd say both their mouths were 10 inches from meal. Carlsbad harbor fish and chips is way better. My wife and I wanted to get out and take a nice walk, and decided that Oceanside Harbor would be a breezy and cool place during the heatwave. Walking stimulates the appetite, and we found ourselves among the small restaurants and shops at the harbor. Harbor, seagulls, barking seals = Fish & Chips. Anything else would be inappropriate. Our entrees were the One Filet Basket ($9.50), which is plenty enough for lunch. My basket consisted of a large filet, lightly battered, and not at all greasy, despite being too hot to eat immediately. The side of french fries was both tender and tasty, and salted just right -- A large portion to match the filet which stretched to both ends of the basket. Two large condiment containers were included, ketchup and tartar sauce, which was spiced up nicely. My wife ordered cole slaw, again a substantial portion, which she enjoyed. A third option would be beans, according to the menu. The food rates Five Stars, no question. One star off for the lack of available hand sanitizer and a few lax pandemic safeguards. I asked for hand sanitzer, but the counter help gestured at a shelf by the entry door which held the spray disinfectant used on hard surfaces-- and no paper towels, just filthy rag. No hand sanitizer for customers. Physical distancing inside the tiny Order/Pickup space is virtually impossible, and only the customers seemed to be trying to enforce it. All visible employees were masked, as were customers. That said, dozens of uncovered ketchup and mayo containers were sitting on a prep shelf at waist level, just begging to be contaminated. No inside seating, customers must take their chances with the outside tables, which always seem occupied. The owner of this business needs to get a lot more serious about pandemic safeguards. ​ read more
