Hard Rock Cafe needs to work on the events that they host. Example: Halloween Costume Contest 2014 (Venue: Hard Rock Cafe Waikiki, Promoter: Flavorus). The reason I give Hard Rock Cafe 2 stars: 1) Failure of communication between venue and promoter: When asked details about event venue kept on saying we are not the ones putting on the event and were not able to provide details on this event. 2) Waste of time: Pre-ordered tickets of admission. Friends and I planned our evening around this event at Hard Rock Cafe. Honestly could of spent my last Halloween on the island better than waiting for a round about response from Hard Rock Cafe and the promoters. We got to the venue at 10pm like the event said and left Hard Rock Cafe at 1:30AM. 3) Costume contest rigged: Friends and I got to the venue at 10pm like advertised. I asked at the front door, do we have to register for the costume contest and the person said no, just go upstairs and listen for an announcement over the speakers. Long story short, my friends and I did not even get to compete in the costume contest because of the staff at Hard Rock Cafe not knowing what was going on. We did not get a number to compete in the contest because we did not see anyone handing out numbers and did not know we needed a number to compete. Speculation the promoters and mc were handing out numbers to their fellow friends. We were there from start to finish. 4) Unsafe environment: Where were the bouncers when a guy started a mini mosh pitt with my female friend. We were dancing having a grand time by the stage (there first) and this white guy and his white girlfriend push my female friend and start a mini mosh pitt with her and people around us. This guy was apparently drunk but why would you push a girl? This asshole circled around and my friend's sister said he looked like he was going to punch her brother for no reason just because we were dancing. If he punched my friend, out of self defense I was going to take him out. Unsafe environment and where were the bouncers to escort this intoxicated guy and his girlfriend. We were in plain sight of the stage. 5) Service was junk: Hostess were great in seating us but our experience was horrible. A) Waitress was not friendly, she had that personality like she did not want to serve us, B) Nothing special about the food; regular bar food (food was cold), C) Alcohol drinks came in a plastic see through cup no class, but I did appreciate the male manager coming out at the end as we were about to leave and apologizing for what occurred as for the costume contest. Overall I was disappointed in Hard Rock Cafe and Flavorus. They were both disorganized and unprofessional. I would not return to Hard Rock Cafe based on this experience and past experience. The bad: I don't even know where to start. Wife and I arrived and was told 20-25 minutes to be seated, this was at 12:20. We sat at the bar so we could order a drink while we wait. 10 minutes later we get asked if we want a drink, we had out id's out and drink menu closed, what took so long? Anyway, wife and I ordered a drink, 20 minutes later my wife's frozen watermelon cooler arrived (not frozen btw), and my drink was no where to be found... 12 minutes later my server shows up and says sorry they were out of the cherry vodka used in the cherry bomb. Oh well I'll order when we are seated.. So in total an hour passes and we finally get a seat, hooray! Right next the the bar, where we were just seated, ugh. It takes about 20 more minutes before our server (who was also our server from sitting at the bar) shows up and asks if we are ready to order or if I want a drink since they haven't provided me with one yet. We order our food and my drink, about 4 or 5 minutes after, new people sit next to us and they must have a much better server because they got their drinks and food much quicker than we did, by about 15 minutes. So I see where the clear problem is. We finally get our food and my drink 30 minutes after ordering and start eating. Well since it took so long to get our food, our drinks are already gone, no one ever shows up to replenish our drinks so I decide to go maverick and get the drinks myself from the bartender, she is sweet and drops everything and hooks me up with our drinks. Our server shows up 8 minutes later and asks if we want something to drink, no, we got our own thanks! All in all 2 and a half hours of time from sit to finish. She just complicated our payments by snatching our check without looking inside to notice that there are two cards inside. Wtf! Should I even top her? I've never left no tip before I'm usually generous and happy regardless of hiccups in service. The good: the band was awesome! Worth a free star! read more

This is probably the best Hard Rock Cafe in the world. I heard they just won the Top Of The Rock Award in the month of July. My wife and I eat there almost once a week. We know a lot of the staff and they all make it a point to give us hugs/great us with a smile. From the time we walk in to the time we get a validation for parking we are made to feel like family. They have some of the most consistently excellent staff I have ever experienced in any restaurant or other business. I own my own business and I would hire any one of their employees to work for me. I asked a manager the other day if he could explain how they are able to hire such good help and he said every applicant must get interviewed three times by three different managers. Well it shows! The food is great. The taste, the quantity, and the price are all good. We have ordered most items on the menu, so I know what I am talking about. Even the drinks are reasonably priced and they have a late happy hour. Finally! Our favorite part is the music. They have live music every night from 9:00pm-11:00pm. They feature some of the best up and coming as well as some of the most established bands on the island. There is no cover charge so it is like getting a free concert every night. I heard that the Hard Rock Cafe in Honolulu is the only one in the World that hires bands to play live music. Well it sure must be paying off because they figuratively and literally ROCK!!!!! So, I finally made it to the Hard Rock Waikiki, and honestly, it's such a vibe. If you're a music nerd like me, the memorabilia alone is worth the trip--you're literally dining among legends like Elvis, The Beatles, and Jimi Hendrix, but with that local 808 twist (shoutout to the Jack Johnson gear!).The setup is super cool with that massive guitar wave at the entrance--major photo op! We grabbed a spot on the second-floor open-air veranda, which is definitely the place to be for those island breezes. We dropped in for Happy Hour to fuel up on some apps: Giant Pretzel: Carby goodness and totally shareable. Nachos & Wings: Solid classics that hit the spot. Pizza Flatbread: Super tasty and the perfect light bite. The service was incredibly friendly and the whole atmosphere felt really mellow and unpretentious. Just a heads-up: the local birds can be a little too interested in your fries if you're sitting near the edge, but hey, that's just Waikiki life! Hippie Hollie saved Hawaiian vacation! Hard Rock Cafe was a pleasant surprise. After spending ten days in Hawaii, I have been tired of bad food-except for Roy's. We had the best service on Oahu tonight with Hollie! She worked extremely hard and very efficient - we knew she couldn't be from Hawaii. The food was excellent... My husband had the big cheeseburger, and I had a plate of fries. Both were hot and fresh and perfectly cooked. It was a great end to our subpar food experience in Hawaii. Thanks Hollie! I LOVED my experience at hard rock Honolulu. We went on a Thursday night and although there was a 35 minute wait it was well worth it. We got a seat right next to live music. The band was playing requests from the crowd and since we were in the front row we got most of our requests played. Our waitress Jodi was fabulous. Enthusiastic and even got on stage at one point to sing. The band sat and talked to us during their break and were very friendly. Recommend the cookie pie for dessert. So good. read more

The atmosphere and the food and drinks were all really good. The food was reasonably priced but the drinks were kind of expensive but it's like that everywhere in Waikiki. I had a great experience at this location! I just went for breakfast since it was close to my hotel and the food was good. The service was even better. My waitress was Timinie and she was great to talk to. She made me feel welcome and made the whole experience great. I sat outside and was able to have a good view. I was there on Sunday for lunch and enjoyed it very much. The food (a hamburger with fries) was very good and our server was very sweet. I enjoyed the open air feeling inside without actually having to sit outside, it was very pleasant. I also loved the guitar wave on the blue ceiling.
