The only reason why I'm not giving them 5 stars is that about 50% of the time I order delivery from them, they forget something. Today it was my shake. Two times ago it was the fries.. My dine in experience was well worth it. The Harlem Classic with its special sauce compliment the burger. The atmosphere is very mellow. Staff and Supervisor is very well trained and polite during my dining. Five stars is definitely well deserved and well earned. Keep up the great work. read more

I was eating here a bit later on in the night, had some trouble with how they cooked their meat. I specified that it wasn't well done. The cashier/"waiter", named Ryan quickly got me a new burger, and apologized for the other one, as well as that struck some really funny conversation pertaining to two extremely weird customers that walked in and left. Second visit for jerk chicken sandwich. Was good but service needs more schooling. General staff seems pleasant but order taker disinterested to say the least. Always shake my head at the difference between downtown and some of Harlems "finest". Waited 10 minutes for her to finish with phone order and no one else can take my order.(Fix that). When order was taken there was no sorry for the delay and then when I picked up order, there was no comment at all. Why owners dont train their staff uptown is beyond me. If they do train them, some need a position not dealing with the public. There's going to be a lot more competition when Whole Foods sets up their cafe and you can bet they wont stand for any service lapses. read more

Three stars for great atmosphere, there is a lacking of customer service. Took my God children (17 year olds) there for lunch, had them find a seat and I went to the bathroom. I came here for a date on Friday 2/17/17 around 5 pm. I ordered the patty melt and truffle fries. The patty melt was okay. But it could have been more flavorful and less greasy. I ordered it without the special sauce though, so perhaps that may be why there was a lack of flavor. The cashier told me the special sauce consists of mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup and I have an aversion to ketchup. But the patty itself could have been seasoned better. I did like the bread it was served on, it had a nice texture. It was my first time having truffle anything and I wanted to be adventurous with my fries. I didn't care for them. Regular fries probably would have been okay. I also had black and white shake which was incredible. Thick but still drinkable with a straw. Had a very rich dark chocolate like flavor. I will definitely be coming back for the shake. The atmosphere here is warm and friendly. Very good music. Mostly 90s r&b and hip hop played during my visit. I also really appreciate the single stalled gender neutral bathroom. It's a a bit old fashioned though and it took me a few minutes to figure out how to operate hand dryer *tip- you have to step on the pedal! I enjoyed my time here mostly because of the environment and the shake. 4 stars for that! The food was mediocre. But it is edible. read more

This is theeee WORST RESTAURANT ON THIS PLANET!! It takes over an hour and half for delivery of your food! By then your fries are very cold...burger is soggy! Management is extremely horrible! The Harlem Shake has the worst customer service! When you call to complain or ask "where is my food?" the wait staff has attitude! Reallllllllllly. I'm spending my money and ordered food, yet the waitstaff has attitude. The manager is nonchalant. I have had this experience three times with this terrible restaurant. Given its location I'm sure this place will be popular. The burger looked so unappetizing and was inedible. I can't figure out why it tasted so funky. Was it the sauce or spices in the meat? Two other dinners in my party said the same thing. Smashed burgers on a Martin's potato roll are becoming a cliche in this town. What ever happened to not smashing a burger because it lets out all of the beef's natural juices and dries out the burger? However the fries were great! Skin on and crispy. Service is slow. I do not think that this place will be able to handle cooking for a crowd. Especially on the small flat top that they use to cook the burgers. A single retro bathroom is shared by all. The dime special at $10 for a classic burger, fries and a soda is available from 11 am to 4 pm. read more

I tried to order food from here twice (via GrubHub). I never received either of the orders. The first time, I ordered and after two hours, I called and they said it was "on the way." I waited another thirty minutes and never received it. Grubhub had to call them and they told them it was "on the way." After three hours, I still hadn't received any food and had to cancel the order. On a separate day, I ordered and waited two hours. When it hadn't arrived, I called the restaurant and was told the driver was, once again, "on the way." I waited another 45 minutes and then contacted GrubHub. GrubHub called the restaurant and they told GrubHub the order was canceled by Harlem Shake as soon as it was placed. Firstly, why? Secondly, they didn't inform GrubHub or me of the cancellation (and had not refunded my money) and told me it was "on the way" when I called two hours after I had placed the order. Terrible. I would critique the food if I could ever get it. I won't be ordering from here again. read more

We came here before a comedy show at the Apollo. We both got the hot chick sandwich and really enjoyed them. It was very flavorful without being too oily. Also the milkshakes were good as well. I liked the mix of Jamaican and American cuisine. Will definitely com I back to try more. read more

I've ordered delivery from Harlem Shake a handful of times and I've eaten inside the restaurant a few times. The food is quite tasty and relatively high quality for a burger joint. The staff is friendly and hip and service is adequate. Eating at the restaurant has gone well and I have enjoyed my meals there. Unfortunately, they botched my delivery order on numerous occasions and the food is always cold and soggy when it arrives. They've brought the wrong order on delivery more than once or twice. (to their credit they did resend the correct orders no questions asked each time). I think they could put a bit more thought into the packaging and transport of their delivery orders. Kinda disappointing to have to try and reheat and salvage my order every time. I would order more often if they could get it together. I don't wanna hate on Harlem shake because I don't think they have bad intentions but they can do a better job providing a more pleasant eating experience for their delivery orders. read more

All hype. I live across the street from the restaurant; in fact, I can see it from my bedroom window. With all of the hype as the restaurant was being built-- a giant, hired graffiti piece of the establishment's name sprayed on the compressed wood around the construction site, and the subsequent hordes of high school kids dancing in front of the mural, the commotion of opening night and the perpetual lines out the door, while I wasn't interested enough to take the time to go there myself for the first few weeks since its opening, I assumed the food must be at least decent. Today, while waiting for laundry to dry up the street, I found myself there with my boyfriend. In a bit of a hurry, and used to prices around the neighborhood, we ordered two burgers, two drinks, and two sides, without paying too much attention to the prices--which came out to $37. Wow, ok. First bites into the food--hmm, not good food, and over priced, we told ourselves. I clung onto my last shreds of the benefit of the doubt, which was trickling away with every further bite. A few more bites and a good look at everything we'd ordered and the full gravity of the mistake we had just made started to sink in, until we were actually fighting to finish the horrible food so that we didn't feel like we'd just thrown nearly $40 away. The buns ("Our Martin's Potato Roll is toasted with Upstate NY butter") were soggy, the size of my palm, lopsided little things, no tastier than grocery-bought pieces of nothingness from backyard barbecues of my childhood. It was not toasted, but cold and squishy. :( The veggie burger was a sloppy, slimy gray mess, under salted... I actually pulled it apart to stare and wonder and wonder at what it could possibly have been made of to give it the texture of overcooked baby food. No conclusive evidence was found. The jerk fry burger... was a regular burger topped with their "jerk fries," french fries dusted with what seemed like a store-bought blend of stale "Caribbean" spices... yeah, no. It tasted of dry nothingness. The Harlem Shake was cold milk blended with red velvet cupcakes from Toni's Minis down the avenue... a great little store specializing in cupcakes that I've been frequenting for years. Sad to think that one of the only redeeming qualities about the meal was a menu item that openly declared that it was made not in the Harlem Shake but at another establishment's kitchen. The kale salad was a bunch of chopped kale smothered in a chokingly mayo-y, bland "Caesar" dressing, topped with a few canned chick peas and a few store-bought croutons. The store emphasized the "Harlem" part of the name uncomfortably much. It seemed to desperately cling to the gimmick of appealing to the "history" of the neighborhood in an artificial, somewhat offensive way. Where did that wall of signed head shots of former Harlem residents come from? There's no way that that many celebrities have eaten there since it opened less than a month ago, and traditionally such portraits are hung after a celebrity has eaten at a restaurant. Where did the portraits come from, Ebay? Using fake celebrity endorsements for horrible food... I don't know. The order/pick up counter awkwardly took up the greater part of the middle of the restaurant, forcing patrons to form a line in the shortest possible space within the establishment. There was a lot of awkward bumping and "are you in line?" questions. It was difficult to walk from one end of the restaurant (to pick up straws, ketchup, and the like) to the other, where there was more seating. In the long run I only see this restaurant attracting gullible people new to New York looking for a gimmicky, sub-par place to Instagram pictures of themselves, and maybe some of those tourists who walk around the neighborhood on Sundays to gawk at worshippers at local churches. The food honestly tastes far worse than the food at the humbly small, long-standing favorites of the neighborhood. Compare the jerk fry burger at the Harlem Shake to the $4 jerk turkey and cheese sandwich from the deli across the street. Twice as delicious, three times as much food, and less than half the price. If you really want to help Harlem out, seek out these honest restaurants that provide real food and don't need to hire specialists to design an interior that is meant to be "authentic" to this neighborhood, and avoid the Harlem Shake. read more

First of all... Who orders burgers delivery? I took a chance and was so grateful because it was the best burger I have ever had delivered. I've been living in New York for years and as a recent Harlem resident, I know where I'll be ordering my burgers in the future! I asked for the sauce on the side just in case it would be soggy and they had the order exactly correct. The truffle fries were amazing and I just popped them into the oven to toast them up, as I would any order of fries delivered... And it was absolute perfection! The staff was so kind and positive, when I called to tell them how great my dinner was Destiny took the time out and even informed me of the weekly specials because she was so proud of their business and welcoming customers to return! And as a business owner, all-around, this place is where it's at! I look forward to dining in... Maybe even tomorrow! read more
