If I was just rating on quality of alteration, I would give it 5 stars. My dress came out PERFECT. I loved it so much and think that Shala is a master at her craft. However, this process was the most stressful part of my whole wedding prep. She did not show up to my first fitting, and I had to wait an hour for her to get there. For my second fitting, she was out of town and did not even call me to reschedule. I called her multiple times and she did not respond. This was 11 days before my wedding. She kept telling me not to worry, but how could I not when I cannot get in contact with her and she has proven to be unreliable. It was finally ready for pick up 3 days before my wedding. I know this alteration place has gotten a lot of poor reviews but let me tell you that she was busy and sadly as brides we forget to review after we are told how beautiful we looked. I can show you before and after pictures and tell you that she made this happen in a matter of 3 weeks. I was proposed to end of may and was married September 2nd . Bought the dress in end of June and didn't t get it to alteration until end of July. She quickly worked around my schedule. Allowed friends and family to see dress before I took it home and was honest and directed with her eye on what was best for the bride. Kept my pockets on my dress and recreated the front to my taste. Communication with accent could be hard but not impossible when her craftsmanship is great that is all that matters. She was timely and professional!!! read more

I hate to rate a 2 star, but I believe the dress alteration process was the worst part of my wedding planning. Shala is very friendly and great with her skills. I understand why Mariposa Boutique will recommend her however she was very unprofessional and rude when it came to her scheduling. 7/13th was my first appt. 8/28th 9am appt was my 2nd fitting. When I arrived, no one was there. When I called she told me I had the wrong time and asked if I can come the next week. I said this is unacceptable and she changed her mind to meet at 6pm that day. After that 6pm appt, I was told she would call at the end of September for final fitting but there was absolutely no call and I had to call in first week of October to follow up. As a result, I had an appt to pick up the dress second week of October, a week before my wedding day. I called to confirm my appt the day before, and she asked to change the pick up date because she wasn't ready yet. Was she going to call me and let me know?? What if I never made that call and just showed up? Finally, I ended up picking up the dress 2 days later after the set date. The worst was when I showed up, and my dress wasn't done. She kept chatting with me and working on the dress. By this point, I have had it with her and I almost lost it on her. I waited until she was finished with the dress. The dress however was absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't complain about the way my dress was altered. It's unfortunate because The dress was beautiful... however her service is horrible. I bought my wedding dress from Mariposa Bridal and Harmony came highly recommended. I had a great experience with Shala. It was very easy to call and book an appointment. And she was available when I was so that was great. Shala did a great job with my dress and it fit great. I had 3 fittings total and every time I came in it was great experience. I really liked her attention to detail and willing to take her time. She took all of my concerns into consideration and did not make me feel like my thoughts were dumb. I have recommended a few brides to be to her as well! The reason for the 3 stars... 1. The dressing room is extremely hot. I don't know if they didn't have central air, but they did have this big long tubing that was blowing cold air into the room. But it wasn't on during the whole fitting it was only on for half of it. 2. My mom came and brought her dress for the wedding as well and unfortunately they cut the length of her dress WAY too short. Thankfully they were able to salvage it somewhat. They added rouching to the middle of the dress to make the skirt longer, but it was still shorter than what she wanted it to be. BRIDE BEWARE! If i could give zero stars, I WOULD. Fatemeh made so many excuses, ripped me off and falsely advertised on the services she would provide. She procrastinated so badly that my dress wasn't even finished by the time I left for my wedding. I am extremely disappointed with her service, how the dress fit and the fact that she wasted my time driving to her when she clearly had not worked on my dress. I knew she didn't do anything except add bra cups and sleeves (for grabs total of $650!!) because the fit was so loose...she tried to lie and say it was because I lost weight. I know that was not the case because i do dexa scans every month that let me know if my weight or body composition changes. I did not lose that in two days time. I felt so put on the spot that evening before my wedding -she clearly procrastinated and had me drive 5 hours a few days before without letting me know she had not finished or worked on the dress at all. I wasted my time and money. I was in her shop late because she didn't do anything to the dress and wanted to take advantage of the timing since I needed the dress that night. Her work (or lack thereof) ruined my wedding photos as my dress was falling down. I paid over $600 for her to do a hack job (sleeves and bra cups) the night before I needed the dress. I wish Mariposa bridal HAD NEVER recommended her. I'm so so disappointed. I was married in a castle abroad and the venue was perfect, I will have to photoshop images where the dress is falling off because it was so big and my dress looks huge. All the pins she said she would work on a few days before like in the waist, bust and hips were not completed, but then she tells me her husband is in the hospital and I'm up against the wall because I leave for my wedding the next morning. This was NOT the first time something was brought up for why work was not done or why she was not responding. She never accepted responsibility for procrastinating and complained about customers always writing bad reviews. Now I know why. Such unprofessional and substandard service. Regardless of the circumstances, I paid for services and I didn't receive what was paid for. I felt manipulated and taken advantage of. RUN AWAY. read more

Very unprofessional. She has her hours as 3pm to 8pm but seems to make her own schedule and is never there from 3pm to 8pm. She gave my wife a pick up date to pick up her wedding dress and called to say someone else would be there to hand over the dress, she called again and blamed that person saying she won't be there after all if we can come the next day at 9am(which would be the day before our wedding day) we showed up the morning before our wedding day at 9am and she had my wife waiting for 2 hours because the dress was now not finished. My wife was in tears when she seen her wedding dress because it was ruined and she had the nerve to ask my wife why she's crying. She was completely rude about the whole situation and doesn't know how to speak to her customers, she also made a comment to my wife saying she is heavy. I do not recommend this place read more

I had less than 2 weeks till my daughter's wedding when I found my mother of the bride dress. It was two sizes too big and both in length width and just everywhere. I brought it into Shala And she did a beautiful job hemming my high low dress, bringing it in around the bust and waist. She was highly professional, and very accommodating with my tight time line. About a week and to dropping off the dress, it came to me that I needed a different neckline. One that was more flattering. I was able to call Shala And it's as if she had intuition and knew exactly what I needed. She created a new neckline on the dress, which was so flattering and I could not be more pleased with the end result. I bought my dress from Mariposa bridal and they recommended this place to me. I do not remember the owners name but she was very helpful and explained everything she was doing. I ordered at size 14 dress and it fit very well but still needed minor alterations. She gave me some more room in my hips, tightened my straps, added support around the chest, fixed lace and beading, and gave my dress a French bustle. I didn't know what style bustle I wanted and she explained both to me and explained what they'd look like. After seeing what both looked like and taking into account the lace on my train I decided a French bustle. Please give her enough time to work on your dress. I took mine in June and didn't get it back until two weeks before my wedding in August. Good for me because I would rather her have my dress than me having to store it in my closet. Being that I'm 5'2, I probably should stay away from buying long dresses. However, I came across a beautiful gown that was 50% off on cyber Monday and couldn't help myself. When it came in, the dress fit perfectly except that it was a bit long. Even with heels, the dress was still an inch long. I brought it to Harmony Alterations because the store is literally a block away from my house. Great customer service. The tailoring turned out to be a bit more complicated than expected given that the material was a very light, chiffon style fabric with many layers. (I've attached a picture of the dress that I bought for an example of the different layers and the fabric). I dropped off the dress with at least 6 weeks until when I needed it. I was told it would be ready a week before the event. I got a call from Theresa a few days when my dress should have been ready and received a voicemail that it wouldn't be ready for another couple of days (still at least 6 days before the event). When I picked up the dress, the length was perfect! You can tell a lot of time went into making sure the dress looked great. I paid $85 in cash for the alterations which seems a bit steep for me but considering I got the dress for 50% off and because each layer needed tailoring, I think the price was fair. If you're driving down Anaheim Street from Lincoln, turn left on Cypress where the auto repair shop is; the store is at the end of the parking lot behind the auto repair shop. read more

I bought my dress from Mariposa Boutique across the street. They referred me to this location, and I didn't think twice about checking reviews because I just went based off what the boutique told me. I was helped by Shala, who seemed to know what she was doing at the time. At the end of my 1st visit, I paid half of my total via credit card without issues. I was told my dress would be done by the end of August. I received a call near the end of August from Shala who said she needed more time, which was fine. (My wedding was in the middle of September, so we still had a bit of time). She told me she'd call me back with a new date, but never called. I texted her two times without reply over the course of a couple days, so I finally called for an update. She answered by saying "oh hi, yes i saw your messages but i forgot to reply". My first reaction is, well thats a bit unprofessional, given that this is a high stress event that you should definitely be communicating about, but I stayed quiet and just asked for an update. She told me I could come in 3 days from the time I called. As its getting close to the date of pickup/try-on, she calls me and says she has to reschedule again because she has an appointment. I start getting frustrated at this point, but I kept my cool, because I'm an understanding person. We agree upon a thursday pickup, so I text her the night before around 8pm saying "see you in the morning", and she immediately calls me to say "oh you were supposed to come in today, i'm not available tomorrow". NOW I'm UPSET! She's claiming she didn't tell me to pick it up thursday, it was supposed to be wednesday. First of all, IF that was the case, she should have called me and asked "where are you", but she never did. Second of all, that was NOT the case. A bride isn't going to forget which day her appointment was scheduled, am I right? So I tell her this is unacceptable and she tells me everything is going to be okay. She has me come in two days later on a saturday for my fitting, but still has work to do. I tell her I work the next 3 days in a row (SatSunMon), 12 hour shifts, so I can't come pick up my dress until 8:30 pm on whichever day she finishes. We agree upon monday night pickup. I get there at 8:30pm after working ALL day. She has me wait in the seating area for 45 minutes WITHOUT any update about whats going on or WHY i have to wait this long. She finally comes out, and doesn't apologize for the wait at all. I try the dress on, and it FITS. THANK GOD, because at this point I just want to take my dress and leave, regardless if it fit or not. I take out my credit card to pay the rest of my balance (which I used a credit card for payment last time I was there). She proceeds to tell me "oh no, I told you I can only take cash, no card". IM ABOUT READY TO SCREAM. She never mentioned that, and I think she should have mentioned to me upon arrival "I only take cash", instead of letting me SIT there for 45 minutes doing NOTHING. Now she wants me to leave her store at 9:30pm at night, alone, to go to a bank. I am FUMING. I come back to the store, give her the money, and leave. Moral of the story, she created added stress to something that's already stressful enough. There is NO communication whatsoever, and if there IS communication, it is complete MISCOMMUNICATION on her part. For that reason, take your dress to a place that is reputable and has people that want to make your life and your day easier. Not to mention this place charges upwards of $800 for alterations. The only reason its getting any 'stars' from me is because my dress fit. read more

Little Story: I bought a wedding label for my dress, but it didn't come until about 3 weeks after I went for my fitting. I called Theresa and told her that I would like it sewn onto my dress and asked her how much she charges for it. She told me no problem it would be no charge and that it was an easy thing to add to my dress! Fantastic Customer Service! I am super short and gowns are not made off the rack for people my height. Shala had to deconstruct the dress to take several inches off the bodice and re-bead the dress by hand. You would never be able to tell it was not the original. She matched everything up perfectly. She also gave us great advice about my belt and skirt and tacked the belt on instead of having it tied. This alterations place did the most stunning job!!! At the end of the process my dress was comfortable and fit me like a glove. The style was very fitted and I received compliments all night! The tailor did a great job with the bustle as well, it looked super cute even when the train was hidden. The service could have been better, there were a few visits I had to wait a while. If I called ahead to say I was coming in, that resolved the wait issue. However, if you want quality tailor service for something as important as a wedding gown, I 100% recommend! Shala did an amazing job on my wedding dress! She had to make a lot of alterations including tightening the bodice, skirt, taking up the skirt a few inches and doing a bustle! Unfortunately I was in between dress sizes and had to get the bigger size causing so many alterations but Shala made the dress look amazing. I didn't know what to expect of the bustle but she did it with several hooks and was able to hide it under the lace so it wasn't seen and when bustled, the dress looked great still. I've now been apart of several bridal parties after my wedding and have seen really cheap, poorly bustled trains and I was so thankful for Shala for the delicate work she did. And the hooks held all night long too! She made my dress look and feel perfect and I was so happy with it! Shes very rude she screams at you and makes to many mistakes she forgets what she tells you she changes her prices and does not tell you then she does the job and expects you to pay . I told her and show her my dress how I received it and also the sample at store and she kept fighting with me telling me that I was wrong. I told her I was very worried that it would not look the same she kept telling me that she was going to put wires in the front so the dress wouldn't fall . So at this time the torso was now small and the waist was very loose I kept telling her that I felt that I had to stick my stock to be able to hold the dress she need to grab it more from sides she did not want to do it she said that's the way was. She had put wires and it made me look very boxy. The reason I had purchased that dress was because it was a corset and she destroyed it I was so upset but I was at her mercy I was scared that she would become more angry and not give me my dress back oh and let me add I had paid her all since first day I dropped off the dress. She then ask for more money she said because it was a lot of work and she had done other stuff to dress I told her that is not what we agreed at beginning and her excuse was that she had forgotten to write it down on receipt. After taking my dress into a couple different places and thoroughly reading through yelp reviews, I decided to check out Harmony Alterations and I am so glad I did! Not only was my dress way too big on me (size was too big AND it needed quite a bit taken off at the bottom since I'm so short!) but it had several layers and needed a special bustle. Oh, and I also only had three weeks until my wedding day. I knew as soon as I had my dress on and Theresa started walking me through what needed to be done that I was in good hands. Sometimes, you have a good feeling about people! Sure, the pricing was a little more than some of the other places i checked out, but I just couldn't afford to risk someone ruining my dress! Especially since time was of the essence! I just picked up my dress today (she had it done a week before my wedding) and it was perfect! I couldn't be happier and she was so sweet about everything. First off, I hate seeing bad people try to ruin a good thing, so I'd like to debunk that crazy, negative review. Teresa is one of the sweetest tailors I've ever met. She's very honest, detail-oriented, and direct. I can imagine that if anyone had a bad experience with her, it's because A. the customer acted like she owned the place B. she made fun of Teresa's English, and generally walked in with a bad attitude C. she's just trying to ruin Teresa's pristine work record for some selfish reason I can also bet that that story was a total lie because I got fitted just last week at Teresa's, and when I told her that I found her off of Yelp, she told me she's been getting more business than she has time for, and she wishes she could delete the site to avoid having so much business. So, I doubt she cared that that psycho gave her a negative review. Chances are, she doesn't even check Yelp. Also, for such a nice lady to be pushed to call the cops, the bride was probably irate, which is entirely possible, given that insane review. With all that out of the way, I took my gown to Teresa, and she was very helpful in altering the dress to help it fit my odd shape better. She was full of helpful suggestions and went step-by-step with me to explain what she was going to change. Love her--just wish she would tailor non-bridal. read more

I came here on the recommendation of Mariposa Boutique to get my wedding dress hemmed. When I arrived to Harmony Alterations, I was told that my dress would need at least a month for the hem to be completed but when I told Teresa that my wedding was in three weeks, she said, "No problem, I will get it done in ten days for you." Thankfully, my hem was completed in the ten days she promised and it came out perfectly! This is not your run-of-the-mill alterations because she specializes in formal occasions, primarily wedding dresses. For my hem, the total came out to roughly $260 and she charges tax for those paying with credit cards. I would also highly recommend calling her ahead of time to set up an appointment because her door is always locked and she'll let you know what's a good time to come in. I got lost trying to find the place but you can find Harmony Alterations on the corner of Cypress and Anaheim Blvd across the street from Mariposa Boutique. I had a Disneyland spirit jersey altered here (they run really oversized) and I was told I would get a call the week after when it was ready. All tailors I have been to take 5-7 days so that was fine. On Friday the week it was supposed to be ready I called back to see if it would be done that weekend. They said they would call me back with no information. On Saturday they called me asking when I needed it. At first I said November 1st (Thursday) since that was my day off. But then I remembered I also had Monday off (October 29) so I ended up calling back and asking for it to be ready on that day. At the beginning of this they told me they would call me the week after, but now they were saying I never said when I would come in. So now my item is ready one week and two days after. I don't appreciate waiting extra long, I didn't feel taken seriously because this was a Disneyland spirit jersey and not a wedding dress. I hate paying $30 in cash (they don't accept card, who carries cash nowadays) and atm fees for bad service. It was really inconvenient. I don't have a car (I'm living here temporarily) but I would take the bus somewhere else. I also went to pick up the item on Monday because they said it would be ready at 11 am. They called me at 10:55 asking me why I didn't come. It wasn't even 11 yet and I live across the street. So I finally went in and the item wasn't even finished. The torso was shortened but the sleeves still had the pins on them. So then I had to wait 30 minutes for them to finish. They told me I never said when I wanted it ready but they told me they would call me the week after I dropped it off so I expected it to be ready in a week. I also don't like paying $30 plus atm fees for bad service and rude people.
