Wedding dress altered by Harmony in Anaheim Ca
    Andrea G.

Had my wedding in Nov 22 . My dress was too big when bought and needed alterations . Shala was the best .. she altered my dress beautifully and made it fit like a glove . She was always so sweet and fun when I went in for fittings . She listened to what I wanted and always made me feel comfortable . My dress was gorgeous and I felt like a princess for a day !!

I know this alteration place has gotten a lot of poor reviews but let me tell you that she was busy and sadly as brides we forget to review after we are told how beautiful we looked. I can show you before and after pictures and tell you that she made this happen in a matter of 3 weeks. I was proposed to end of may and was married September 2nd . Bought the dress in end of June and didn't t get it to alteration until end of July. She quickly worked around my schedule. Allowed friends and family to see dress before I took it home and was honest and directed with her eye on what was best for the bride. Kept my pockets on my dress and recreated the front to my taste. Communication with accent could be hard but not impossible when her craftsmanship is great that is all that matters. She was timely and professional!!!

I hate to rate a 2 star, but I believe the dress alteration process was the worst part of my wedding planning. Shala is very friendly and great with her skills. I understand why Mariposa Boutique will recommend her however she was very unprofessional and rude when it came to her scheduling. 7/13th was my first appt. 8/28th 9am appt was my 2nd fitting. When I arrived, no one was there. When I called she told me I had the wrong time and asked if I can come the next week. I said this is unacceptable and she changed her mind to meet at 6pm that day. After that 6pm appt, I was told she would call at the end of September for final fitting but there was absolutely no call and I had to call in first week of October to follow up. As a result, I had an appt to pick up the dress second week of October, a week before my wedding day. I called to confirm my appt the day before, and she asked to change the pick up date because she wasn't ready yet. Was she going to call me and let me know?? What if I never made that call and just showed up? Finally, I ended up picking up the dress 2 days later after the set date. The worst was when I showed up, and my dress wasn't done. She kept chatting with me and working on the dress. By this point, I have had it with her and I almost lost it on her. I waited until she was finished with the dress. The dress however was absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't complain about the way my dress was altered. It's unfortunate because The dress was beautiful... however her service is horrible. No credit or discounts were extended or offered even with all the inconvenience she caused.

I bought my wedding dress from Mariposa Bridal and Harmony came highly recommended. I had a great experience with Shala. It was very easy to call and book an appointment. And she was available when I was so that was great. Shala did a great job with my dress and it fit great. I had 3 fittings total and every time I came in it was great experience. I really liked her attention to detail and willing to take her time. She took all of my concerns into consideration and did not make me feel like my thoughts were dumb. I have recommended a few brides to be to her as well! The reason for the 3 stars... 1. The dressing room is extremely hot. I don't know if they didn't have central air, but they did have this big long tubing that was blowing cold air into the room. But it wasn't on during the whole fitting it was only on for half of it. 2. My mom came and brought her dress for the wedding as well and unfortunately they cut the length of her dress WAY too short. Thankfully they were able to salvage it somewhat. They added rouching to the middle of the dress to make the skirt longer, but it was still shorter than what she wanted it to be. It was a very stressful situation that I wish my mom didn't have to go through.

I bought my dress from Mariposa bridal and they recommended this place to me. I do not remember the owners name but she was very helpful and explained everything she was doing. I ordered at size 14 dress and it fit very well but still needed minor alterations. She gave me some more room in my hips, tightened my straps, added support around the chest, fixed lace and beading, and gave my dress a French bustle. I didn't know what style bustle I wanted and she explained both to me and explained what they'd look like. After seeing what both looked like and taking into account the lace on my train I decided a French bustle. Please give her enough time to work on your dress. I took mine in June and didn't get it back until two weeks before my wedding in August. Good for me because I would rather her have my dress than me having to store it in my closet. The alterations were reasonably priced as well considering all the work she did.

Being that I'm 5'2, I probably should stay away from buying long dresses. However, I came across a beautiful gown that was 50% off on cyber Monday and couldn't help myself. When it came in, the dress fit perfectly except that it was a bit long. Even with heels, the dress was still an inch long. I brought it to Harmony Alterations because the store is literally a block away from my house. Great customer service. The tailoring turned out to be a bit more complicated than expected given that the material was a very light, chiffon style fabric with many layers. (I've attached a picture of the dress that I bought for an example of the different layers and the fabric). I dropped off the dress with at least 6 weeks until when I needed it. I was told it would be ready a week before the event. I got a call from Theresa a few days when my dress should have been ready and received a voicemail that it wouldn't be ready for another couple of days (still at least 6 days before the event). When I picked up the dress, the length was perfect! You can tell a lot of time went into making sure the dress looked great. I paid $85 in cash for the alterations which seems a bit steep for me but considering I got the dress for 50% off and because each layer needed tailoring, I think the price was fair. If you're driving down Anaheim Street from Lincoln, turn left on Cypress where the auto repair shop is; the store is at the end of the parking lot behind the auto repair shop.

Shala attached the belt directly to the skirt and made the dress look like one piece.

Shala had to deconstruct the dress to take several inches off the bodice and re-bead the dress by hand.

I had read the reviews before going to her, so I was aware of Coco delivering a day late on alterations. I went in on June 18th to get my dress altered, and Coco told me to come in on July 2nd to pick up my dress. On July 2nd, I actually called her beforehand to confirm that my dress would be ready. She asked me for my dress color and then said to come by any time before 5pm. My dress was not ready. I drove over, and Coco told me that she was still working on my dress. She also mentioned that the person who usually steams all the finished pieces had already left for the day, so she needed an additional day. I was fine with her needing extra time, but I wish she had said that over the phone before I made the drive. I thought that was inconsiderate, especially since I had already been proactive about calling beforehand to confirm that the dress could be picked up. Nonetheless, the alterations turned out nicely. The hem of the dress worked beautifully with the heels I chose, and the tightened shoulder seams made the dress fit much nicer. I felt so confident wearing this dress at my friend's wedding. The hem and shoulder seam adjustments totaled $80. I don't have a frame of reference for the average cost of alterations for formal attire, so I can't tell if it was reasonable. I would definitely recommend getting your clothes in earlier rather than later to accommodate for any potential delays.

Three weeks before my wedding, the tailor I had trusted completely backed out after keeping my dress for weeks. She told me my gown was too complicated, would take over 8 weeks to alter, and would cost more than $1,000 because of the intricate beading and construction. She said it would practically have to be reconstructed. I panicked. I spent an entire day driving around Orange County visiting several highly-rated alteration shops, and every single one told me some version of the same thing: it was too difficult, the beading would have to be compromised, the train might need to change, or it would cost an outrageous amount. By the time I walked into Ninos, I was emotionally exhausted and expecting another "no." The shop itself is very unassuming, tucked away in an older office building. I'll admit I was skeptical. After visiting large, well-known shops with multiple seamstresses, I didn't think this little tailor shop would be the one to save my wedding dress. I have never been happier to be wrong. From the moment I met Tutu and her husband, they made me feel welcome. They are one of the sweetest couples I've ever met. Tutu immediately noticed how stressed I was. She closed the blinds for privacy, turned the AC up because I was sweating from anxiety, and simply let me breathe. Then she confidently looked at my dress and said she could do it. Not only could she do it--she could do ALL of it. She took my waist in 4 inches, altered my bust so it fit perfectly, hemmed SEVEN layers of dress, added a bustle, resized my detachable sleeves, added buttons to hold them in place, and worked around intricate beading that every other shop acted like was impossible. Her price? $600. After being quoted over $1,000 and told it couldn't realistically be done, I honestly wanted to hug her. I'll admit, I was still nervous. Every time I repeated what the other shops had warned me about, Tutu would simply smile, wave her hand, and say, "It's okay. I got it." She never dismissed my fears--only the negativity. Her confidence was incredibly comforting. Then she somehow completed everything in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS. I dropped my dress off on a Friday. She wanted me back by Tuesday. I ended up going Thursday, less than a week later, and my dress already fit like an absolute glove. I only requested one tiny adjustment in the bust, and a few days later it was completely finished. When I picked it up, I cried. My bust had originally been several sizes too large, and I was convinced there was no way to make it look natural without reconstructing the dress. Tutu worked literal magic. There was no gaping, no awkward pulling, and no visible evidence of the alterations. It looked like the dress had been custom made for me. She also preserved the beautiful train that everyone else wanted to compromise. She even gave me FOUR different alteration options, carefully explained the pros and cons of each, and helped me choose what would look best. She genuinely cared about doing the job the right way--not the easiest way. On my wedding day I received so many compliments on how perfectly my dress fit. Before I left, she also took the time to show me exactly how to fasten the bustle, put on my sleeves correctly, and care for the dress so nothing would get damaged. That level of care meant so much. I almost didn't come here because I saw one negative bridal review. I obviously can't speak to someone else's experience, but mine could not have been more different. I brought in a $4,000 wedding gown that multiple professionals considered nearly impossible, and Tutu handled it with incredible skill, kindness, patience, and professionalism. Every time I visited, the shop was busy. I saw sheriff uniforms, men's clothing, everyday alterations, and multiple wedding dresses waiting to be worked on. It's obvious people trust her. I'm writing this review because, when I was in complete wedding panic, I desperately wished another bride had shared a story like mine. If you're reading this while stressed, overwhelmed, or wondering if your dress can be saved, please go see Tutu. When I dropped my dress off, I told my family, "This is either going to be the biggest diamond in the rough or I just paid to have my wedding dress destroyed." I'm so thankful to say it was absolutely the diamond in the rough. Thank you, Tutu. You didn't just alter my dress--you genuinely made my wedding day possible. Your kindness calmed me during one of the most stressful moments of wedding planning, and your talent exceeded every expectation I had. I will recommend Ninos to every bride, friend, and family member I know.

All he had to do was cut the sleeves off so up the side and then reattach the sleeve. When I came in to pick it up, the sleeves were not cut, they're two different sizes, the neckline wasn't cut to size and I looked like the background dancers in the goofy movie with the broad shoulders. There's so much bunching in the top since I have smaller breast and I pointed that out on Monday and he just kept repeating "I cut where I pin" anyone can do that. I made it a point to make sure that he was going to be able to do this the way that I wanted before dropping it off because I would've spent more time looking for places that were capable of following instructions.
