Shalla made my dream dress a reality. I had found the a dress I wanted in a size 12. I found it soooo cheap and thought let me see if I can get this sized to a 1-2. Shalla was recommended to me by mariposa bridal. When I brought her the dress she immediately said yes I can fix do it. I was sooo scared that I was going to waste my money elsewhere and something in my gut trusted her. When I picked up my dress the week of the wedding there was a small fix needed and she did it within an hour. Let me tell you..... my dress turned out beautifully. It fit sooo perfect and looked even better than I imagined it to be. My dress had alot of beads and lace; it seemed really complicated but she made it look easy. 7 years ago when my oldest daughter was married, Teresa totally transformed a size 10 dress to fit a size 4 bride! She reconfigured the neckline to make it a sweetheart style, took it in here and there, added cups, added a bustle, made the veil, and also did all of the alterations to 6 bridesmaids and the mother of the bride, me! We could not have been happier. Fast forward to 2017....daughter #2 was getting married. We knew just where to go!...to Teresa whose talents once again amazed us!! My mother of the bride dress needed a lot of work at the last minute and Teresa was on sick leave...However, Shala, who took her place, came to my rescue just one week before the wedding. Imagine this: it's 4:30 pm on a Saturday. I'm a bridesmaid and have to begin getting hair and makeup done at 8 am the next morning. I realize too late that even though I'm 5'8, my bridesmaids dress is way too long despite my 4 inch heels. So what do I do? Search Yelp. And what do I find? Harmony! I was pleased to see that the business closes at 8 pm, so I called immediately and walked into Harmony about 20 minutes later. By about 7 pm, my dress was the perfect length, and the owner even ironed it for me! She gave me a reasonable price considering I needed it the same day! She was friendly and accommodating. She didn't call me back and didn't show up. So unprofessional. It was so difficult to make an appointment on the phone. I came to Teresa about a year ago after I was turned down by 3 different tailors around Orange County that told me they would not be able to take my dress down to my size, I had lost a significant amount of weight since I purchased it and it was about 3 sizes too big. I was quoted an outrageously high price from one of them, but they said the dress still would never fit me like a glove, it was just too big, it would literally need to be re-cut in order to truly fit and this was something that they just wouldn't do. I could not find anyone in Orange County that could help me, I was at Mariposa Bridal purchasing a petticoat and told them about my troubles and they recommended I go see Teresa. She was my last hope! Not only was she able to fix every tiny little thing I asked her to do, her pricing was so fair I was in shock! She charged me about half what the other tailor quoted me (for not even being able to actually fix the dress) and she did more than double the work. In addition to taking the dress in 3 sizes in the bust and about 2 sizes in the waste, I needed the skirt lengthened, which required her to add a second layer of the intricately beaded lace to the bottom of the hem. The whole skirt needed to be widened to accommodate my huge petticoat, a bustle added, and a few other small changes I needed to the design. She really went above and beyond, she tightened up all the loose beads, and she made sure there wasn't a mark on the dress, when I picked it up it was spotless! I really can't say enough about how much she has done for me, her exquisite craftsmanship, kind and bubbly personality made it more than worth my while to drive all the way to Anaheim from Huntington Beach (in rush hour traffic) and took away all my Bridal fears that my dress would never fit me the way I had always envisioned. If you have some serious repair work that needs to be done for the dress of your dreams, there is nowhere else to go but Harmony Alterations!! read more

I took my wedding dress here after being referred by Mariposa Boutique and it was a total mistake! When I dropped off the dress we agreed it would be done by a set date and it wasn't. When I arrived to pick up my dress it was not ready. I gave her a couple more days to finish my dress. When I got the finished product I was severely disappointed. My expensive dress looked cheap, torn up, and dirty. You could tell where she had taken it in and sewing string was sticking out from every where. The alteration's room floors are dirty and appear to have not been cleaned in months and she puts the dresses on that floor. She must not understand that the wedding dress needs to be handled with care. Needless to say she charged me $750 and I was not satisfied with her work. I have never written a yelp review, but I believe it is necessary for this location. DONT give her your business. read more

I'd give a 3.5 if I could and I'll explain. I'll start off by saying that they made my dress fit perfectly at the end. My dress was a two piece, hand-beaded corset and a squirt and I was terrified of having anyone alter the corset but she guaranteed me that she knew how to work with that hand-beading. I dropped off my dress with Harmony and made an appointment to pick it up 5 weeks later. I paid half upfront and she said she preferred check or cash so since I didn't have either with me I had to drive back home to pick up my check book - luckily I don't live too far from their location but it was annoying. I went back 5 weeks later and my corset seemed ruined! I was in a panic and devastated! She forgot to hem the squirt even though it was noted since our initial appointment. She said she would fix it and a week later I went back and it was PERFECT! That was a huge relief. I brought my check book this time and when it came down to pay for the rest of the alterations, she said she preferred cash! So I had to drive to the nearest bank. This was a hassle both times so Harmony need to clarify this when making appointments. Their door is always locked and expect to wait after your appointment time. read more

After reading some of the reviews, I was very skeptical about bringing my dress in. I went in with my mom and was greeted by Theresa. SHE IS AMAZING. Super friendly, easy to talk to, easy going, and very honest. You can roll in with ideas with what you want and she will give you her honest opinion- but get what you want done. Pricing was fair- all I had to get done was to get the shoulder part of my dress tightened and have a bustle made. My wedding is in one week and Theresa had everything done in one week. Theresa is amazing my daughter bought a label dress with puffy shoulder and long sleeves, my daughter wanted a heart shaped dress with no sleeves no straps. Theresa gave my daughter exactly what she wanted and didn't change the original design of the dress minus the puffy long sleeves. The dress was beautiful. Now my other daughter is getting married, she bought a designer dress and it has to be fitted to her size. $750 to alter a wedding ceremony gown and a reception dress. Be sure to clarify your receipt because her handwriting numbers are not clear--upon pick up I was charged for items she verbally told me I wouldn't be charged for during the fitting. The side fittings were good. The bottom hems were shorter than expected but workable--I should have tried the gowns on upon picking them up but she insisted "you don't need to try them on." Unfortunately I obliged. Teresa said if I paid cash she'd give me a discount but when I went to pick up the dress she charged me full price. I purchased my own cup inserts to be sewn in but was disappointed to find when I got home that that Teresa did not sew anything in (I had to get married "boobless") and she ended up keeping the inserts that I had bought and brought. She is charming and talkative but Id highly advise to keep things professional since monetary payment is involved. read more

This is my first Yelp review and I feel it necessary to write about my experience. Any bride to be will relate that when you drop your wedding dress to a tailor you have never met before that you feel very nervous and anxious however you have faith in the wedding dress shop that made the recommendation, you also probably phone your MOH and say "is this normal to feel so worried"! I took my wedding dress to Teresa in August and my first experience was great, she was very friendly, direct....which I liked, informative and calmed my nerves. I walked away feeling assured but still a little anxious as I was not picking my dress up until October. This week I went back into yelp as I wanted to confirm with Teresa that it was still OK for me to pick up my dress today. I was horrified to read the review by KP C and was completely panic stricken, thankfully I only had two sleepless nights until picking up my dress. My dress is beautiful and my bustle is stunning and I extremely happy. I should also mention that my dress wasn't an easy dress and it needed a lot of detailed work. My advise for any bride to be, if you are looking for perfection and you want to give your dress to someone you can trust then you should take it to Teresa. I didn't get a decent fitting at all. She measured me once and altered it. When I came to try it on, I had a few areas of concern and wanted her to fix them. She said it wasn't possible because of the material of my dress. She wanted me to take my dress. Charged me $800 and I left very unhappy. (I didn't want to make a fuss because of other reviews that I had read about her erratic behavior) I took it to Tailor Studio in Rancho Cucamonga and Laurie fixed exactly what Harmony Alterations said she couldn't fix. read more

Teresa is amazing! She does excellent work. Her work is not cheap but worth every penny. I am very very thin and my bridal gowns needed a ton of work. I had a ball gown for my ceremony and a mermaid gown for the reception. My reception gown had very intricate beading so I was concerned with how Teresa would alter the upper body without interfering with the design.... I don't know how she did it but it was amazing! She's very honest and straightforward. She will tell you what can and cannot be done. She suggested we add cups to my gowns so that I wouldn't need a bra and it was the best thing we could've done. My gowns were a hit, but most importantly, I was comfortable and I was able to enjoy my wedding. I added a bustle to my reception dress because it had a small train but I didn't even end up using the bustle because the train looked so lovely down (just be careful while you dance). So looking back, I wish I would've saved the money spent to add the bustle. All in all, highly recommended! read more

Shala is the best! I know you all watch say yes to the dress, she was my very own Vera! When I first tried on my dress for her, there were beads falling off the top, which of course I wanted to die. Shala assured me it was no big deal and she would fix it. I think she saw the panic in my face because she said she had been doing this longer than I was old and it was no problem. When I returned to pickup my dress, sure enough she had fixed the beading, done the bustle and made some other adjustments as well. It's hard to trust anyone with your wedding dress and it is very nerve racking, but I am so glad that I decided to go with Harmony and Shala. Theresa is the sweetest woman, and very flexible about you coming in to drop in/pick up your gown. She took the top of my gown in, added a French bustle, and took my MIL's veil fabric out of the headband and put it on a comb (so I could use the headband to wrap about my bouquet). She was expensive, but professional. After seeing her for the first time, I looked elsewhere, at one place where they put safety pins in my dress!! Yikes, I was sweating bullets that they were tear the gown (it was lace). So I went back to Theresa, and she was very gracious about the whole thing. One thing that has nothing to do with her (and maybe it's just me), but her dressing room mirror and light is not very flattering, so don't worry - if you take your dress home and put it on a different setting, you will look much better :) read more

Harmony Alterations run by Teresa is an independent alterations and seamstress service that specializes in wedding dress alterations. They are located across the street from the Mariposa Bridal boutique and therefore a lot of brides who purchase their wedding dress from Mariposa will get referred over to Teresa for their alterations since Mariposa does not have an in-house seamstress and alterations service. Teresa and her team do very quality work in the alterations for the wedding dresses. They've been doing this a long time and the quality shows. She knows just what you need altered to make you look your best on the big day. However, for that quality, the price is definitely on the higher end to get your wedding dress alterations done. There were no challenges with Teresa's service the first time around with my wedding. The dress was ready right when she said it would be. There was one challenge that I did encounter the second time I used her services. I also did a one-year wedding anniversary do-over photo shoot in which I needed my wedding dress re-steamed and prepped for the photo shoot. After going through a difficult ordeal with my wedding photographer and photos which contributed to the need for me to do the do-over photo shoot, I discovered a more unfriendly side to Teresa's customer service. I had brought back my wedding dress which was already preserved. It had been left in its preserved state and I needed to bring it back to Teresa so that she can prepare it for the photo shoot. I didn't think it would be a big issue to transport the wedding dress in its preservation box and have it be taken out at her shop. It was certainly easier to transport a fluffy wedding dress in a neat box rather than to put it in your car all opened up already. When I arrived, Teresa wanted to see the dress again to remind her of what she needed to do. She was very upset that the dress wasn't already opened up and ready for her to see. She was grumbling about having to help open up the box and undo all of the tying down that the preservation company put into place. I let her know that I didn't mind undoing all of it and getting it out of the box if she could just give me some scissors. This isn't something that I do every day so it took me longer to get it all undone. It was clearly visible that she was very impatient with the process and just kept grumbling and complaining that this wasn't part of her job to help with this. I found this experience very unwelcoming and very uncomfortable especially after having been completely satisfied with her service the year before. She made uncomfortable comments like she didn't want to be held liable for any damage that may be incurred through the process of getting the dress loose. Yet, when I was going to try and do it myself, she still took charge and did it herself. If she was going to just do it herself, then why grumble and make it an awkward and uncomfortable moment to begin with. Honestly, going through a difficult ordeal with my wedding photographer that was beyond my control is already tormenting enough without Teresa having to make the moment worse and remind me about the unfortunate circumstances that put me in this situation. There was no apology offered either on her part. The other thing that I regretted was that a few weeks prior, she had quoted me a specific price to get the dress re-steamed and prepped. Once the dress was finally undone from the preservation box, I think she saw the dress and then increased the price by a significant amount in contrast to what she previously quoted me. Her reasoning was because the dress had a lot of pick-ups which she just re-noticed when the dress was out. By that time, the moment was just so awkward that I said ok, whatever so that I could get out of there. The dress was steamed and prepped well just like it had been the previous year but my last encounter with Teresa unfortunately just left a really bitter taste in my mouth. She was very nice and pleasant for actual brides getting ready for their wedding. She was very warm before my wedding and treated you with golden gloves as you are a bride getting ready for your wedding. She wanted to make sure that you had your dress perfect for the big day. Maybe it was because I was no longer a bride getting married that I was waived from quality customer service on her part. The monster in Teresa really came out to claw me. If it hadn't been for this last encounter, I would've had rave reviews for Teresa and her alteration services. The only thing that I would've griped about was the costliness of her services. It's unfortunate too because I really loved the Mariposa Bridal boutique where I got my dress from and who referred me over to Teresa. Standard brides getting ready for their wedding will most likely get awesome service but just get ready to pay a higher premium for her services. read more

If I could give this place less than one star, I would. My sister bought her dress across the street at Mariposa and they recommended getting alterations done here. My sister had an amazing experience at Mariposa which surprises me that they would recommend this place. First off, when we got there, she made us wipe our feet on these dirty little cloths on the floor because she didn't want us taking dirt into the fitting room. The fitting room was not nice and the floor looked dirty. She started pinning my sister in her dress and my sister pricked herself on one of the pins which resulted in a blood spot on my sister's brand new dress! She was not even apologetic and told my sister she needed to be more careful. She just got a wet towel to wipe it off and acted like it was not a big deal. It is a big deal! She wasn't even gonna take the pins out when my sister was undressing and told my sister she shouldn't have had her pin the dress if she wasn't gonna leave it. How would my sister know if she wanted this lady to do her alterations without seeing what she would do to the dress?!?!? She even got mad that my sisters future mother in law used the restroom without telling her. This place is awful. Teresa is rude and unprofessional. Take your dress elsewhere. Teresa did an amazing job with my dress alterations. I needed to have my dress bustled, hemmed, taken in, a belt sewed on, and cups sewed in. She did it all and knew what she was doing. It only took one fitting for her to get it right. I was a bit nervous I was going going to do the one fitting, but it fit perfect. Mariposa Boutique recommended me to her and one of my coworkers used her as well for her wedding. Some of the reviews are a bit negative, but that was not my experience at all. Teresa was very sweet, she knows her stuff. I trusted everything she recommended when I went for my fitting. I went to this place highly recommended by Mariposa Boutique since they told me she does great in custom dresses. Theresa did the alterations on my wedding dress, my dress wasn't easy to work with since I needed some major custom changes and alterations to what I had envision for my dress. My dress wasn't a traditional dress, it was very unique and fairytale like. She did such a great awesome job to it, brought it to life just as to what I envisioned. I couldn't have been happier with her high quality job and work. Yes to some it may seem a little pricier than other alteration places, I paid for a little more than 1/2 of what I paid for my gown but I expected that because it's not a tailor you are going too, its a seamstress; however, it's your wedding dress and only once in a lifetime dress you are going to wear and you want to look your best and get what you want and envision your dress to look like. Why would you risk going to another shop, cheaper and less than quality work for less $$. I didn't get a bustle and Theresa was very honest with me that I really didn't need one because I was having a small intimate wedding of 40 guests. I appreciated her honestly and saved myself more money. One thing you do have to do with any place you go, is you MUST be very detailed and specific as to what you want done, remember they can't see inside your head as to what you want done or what you are envisioning. I brought different pictures of my dress from other brides and to visually show her what I wanted and what I did not want. I even brought a sketched I drew myself as to what I wanted customized and she did exactly what I needed and was extremely happy. My husband loved loved my dress and how it was customized... I miss driving to my alteration appointments, every time I went I never wanted to take my dress off and kept getting excited each time I saw the changes. Theresa is a sweet person and always greeted me very well, we had good conversations and it was a pleasure talking to her and working with her on my dress. Most likely I will go back to repair my dress because it did kind of ripped a little, since I will be wearing it for an anniversary photo session with my hubby.... Awful experience! I thought I was in a nightmare! She pricked me with her pins and got blood on my dress and she was rude and unprofessional. We did not share the same vision which made me reluctant to leave my dress in the hands of Teresa. Also, my Mom has had some experience with sewing and saw that Teresa was not making appropriate suggestions. When I told Teresa I was not leaving my dress she got upset because I made her do all the pinning for nothing, but how else was I suppose to see what type of work she would be doing to my dress? I can't believe this place has so many good reviews. Brought my wedding dress here after having someone else fix it and she made it worse! Had to have my mother in law fly out from Tennessee to fix it and show me everything she did wrong. Not only were the sleeves she redid too big but the sides were uneven and the zipper went up past the dress line. Not to mention she left all the fabric she tightened instead of cutting it off. I waited a whole month for her to fix it but went in early for my mother to get her dress done and she still hadn't even started on it! And then when I realized I didn't like the sleeves she told me I should've told her sooner and now we didn't have enough time but luckily she managed to ruin them in time. Not only did she do a terrible careless job, but she charged me $400 for it! I am so furious and would never recommend anyone to this place.
