The food was really good, but if you haven't been before, check out the menu ahead of time. We had been there for dinner a long time ago, so I knew what dinner looked like. It it very possible to spend $40-50 on your lunch. I had the garbage salad it was really good, but it was a $20 salad with a Diet Coke. They have great food, I guess I expected more lunch items. Seriously, the salad was yummy. The real reason for 3 stars is because the table the tried to sit us at had melting ice dripping on the chair. They sat another couple there, who had to ask to move and tried to set it back up again. Obviously, you will have to move that table. read more

We have visited this restaurant a few times during the pandemic and had food delivered more than once. Plenty of space with outside seating and masked and gloved servers. The shrimp cocktail is horseradish enhanced and definitely note worthy. The cocktails are reliably tasty and high quality. The wedge salad is my first choice with chunks of Gorgonzola and a generous serving of bacon. Pork chops are juicy and large. The steaks are always the best - no steak knife needed, they melt in your mouth. The sliders are good. The steak pizza is better than you might guess as well with just a hint of horseradish and a generous serving of steak. The food and service was amazing!! I ordered the NY Strip and it was cooked perfect. You can dress up or dress casual whichever you prefer.

I'll start with the positives... this is one of my family and friends favorite dining places here in Indy. The food is ALWAYS exceptional and the service has always been top notch. Todays meal would have rated a 5 star experience had they remembered to Oscar our pick up ordered steaks as we requested. They still received 4 stars because the steaks were cooked to perfection and everything was still nice and warm when we got it home. Somehow the person taking the order decided to give us the Izzy special which sounds nothing like steaks Oscared.. We will require the order taker to repeat back what they understood next time, and we'll ck the orders... if we decide to pick up again. Dining in would have prevented this.... We decided to return to Harry & Izzy's on 82nd Street after several months to give it another try. I was really hoping for redemption on their part, but unfortunately, it was not a better experience. Upon sitting at the bar, a bartender immediately took our drink orders and then she asked if we would like menus, to which we responded "yes" and mentioned we planned "to snack". Our intention was to enjoy a cocktail or two, a shrimp cocktail and a couple of filet sliders. While it was about 5:15 on a Thursday evening, the bar area was not so crowded that service should've been lacking, but it was ... we sat there for another 20 minutes during which time no one returned to take our food order; we felt invisible. We paid for our two drinks and left at 5:44 pm. Life is too short to wait unnecessarily. While I did appreciate the manager's handling of our original disappointing visit by sending a $50 gift card, it makes it very difficult to use it if no one takes your food order. If Aaron is still the GM there, it must make his job much harder if the front line can't perform. It's a shame, really. Maybe if we happen to be downtown Indy in the coming months, we'll give that location a try. read more

A Sunday brunch menu is available, however, we decided against those options. I had a turkey burger (minus the bun) with chips. The burger was good and is my normal go-to. Food and drinks are consistently good, mashed potatoes are delish and fries, something seemingly simple, are fresh-cut and fried. Most of the core team of servers and bartenders that I saw in my frequent visits pre-pandemic haven't changed and always take great care of you. COVID precautions have been in place and are usually visibly and consistently practiced by the best core team members. If you are ever in on an off-day and get the "B" grade staff they may waver on the practices you see others usually taking. The food was out within 4 minutes of placing our order ? Weird right ... I think so for steaks ! I wasn't finished with my appetizer when the food came out to the table. Wanted to treat my boyfriend to a "nice" lunch and he picked good ol' Harry and Izzy's. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was welcoming. They even offer complimentary valet parking. We orders the toasted ravioli and the sweet and spicy shrimp for appetizers. The ravs were AMAZING! The bolognese sauce they used, perfect. The sweet and spicy shrimp were ehh. They came served in a bowl over a bed lettuce and were tossed with crispy strips of tortilla. The shrimp itself were super plump and fresh but the "sweet and spicy" sauce it was tossed in was way too salty. It's almost like they tried to do their version of bang bang shrimp (Bonefish) but it was not very good. Again, wayyyyyy too salty. I ordered the prime rib pizza and it more than made up for the disappointing shrimp. The crust was made in house-you could tell with every bite. The prime rib that was used was tender and juicy. and the SAUCE. My goodness the sauce was the best part! The sweet onion sauce on the crust plus the garlic-y white sauce they drizzled on top. BOMB. The prices are definitely on the high end with appetizers around $12-16 and steaks being in the $40-60, but they are worth the price! The shrimp cocktail is world famous and really packs a punch. First time coming here. Their cocktail sauce is like 96% horse radish, so if you love horse radish, here ya go. I ordered my NY strip medium-well, but I instead got a leather shoe with my meal. Creme brulee was good but wasn't torched at the table, like I've usually seen. That's not a major deal, but it was very cold in the center and the top shattered like glass rather than crunched with some crispiness to it. Everyone out there was wearing a jacket. We went back to the car for mine. I was finally comfortable by the time we left. I ordered 6oz filet, medium well. Slightly pink. WAY over cooked. No pink anywhere so I only ate 3 bites of it. I also asked for A1 and he said they don't have that. Don't know if something has changed but I've always had A1 here. They bring me their brand of steak sauce to use instead. Not even similar to the flavor of A1. It was almost fruity. So I didn't use it either. The fries were honestly the best thing. We also started with the fried ravioli which is pretty good. Wish you get more than 3 pieces for $14. ($4.67 per piece). My husband had the club and he said his was just ok. Basic sandwich you can make at home. Our server asked the table by us if they would like a bread basket. Would've been nice if he asked us too. Because I was still hungry when we left. The server LJ I think was his name, never asked me how the meal was. He clearly seen I didn't touch my steak and never asked if it was ok or if they can fix it. This is the last time we go there. We order drinks to start the night off right. I had their famous whiskey and cola..well I had a couple of them. This cocktail was made with a st Elmo whiskey which had hints of cherry in it. They were so good!!! Great dishes to try if you love seafood like I do is the scallops with couscous. My fiancé had the filet which was super tender. We decided to try Harry and Izzy's because we were on the north side of town. First star was for the ambience. It was a nice looking setup with tablecloths and nice cutlery. The second star was for the sauce that came with our salmon. The sauce was very tasty. It goes downhill from there... we sat at a high top table in the bar because it was the beginning of a holiday weekend and they had no tables available for an hour. My husband and I both ordered the salmon and 1order of Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were not very good. They had more sweet than savory flavor. The mashed potatoes were just ok and my salmon was just ok. My husband's salmon on the other hand was raw. He took an initial bite and it felt like jelly in his mouth. He cut off another piece to show me and it was completely raw inside. I wish I would have gotten a picture, but I was in such shock that I didn't think of it at the time. We called the waiter over and showed him and said that his salmon was raw and he said "yes it is". He said they will make him another one right away. So while he sits there contemplating if he's going to get sick from the bite that he took of raw salmon, I am forced to eat my half of our hundred dollar meal alone while he waits. When he finally receives his meal, I am of course finished. There was an apology but no mention of any type of discount or anything. We voiced our concern about consuming the raw fish, but there was no concern from the waiter. We don't go out to eat very frequently, so when we chose a higher end restaurant we expected more.
