We dined here 3 times in the past year including last week. I like the place a lot for many reasons, and for the most part they live up to their reputation / expectations one might have of them. Our family always enjoy the steaks. The famous shrimp cocktail.. is ok but not worth 5$ a shrimp. Yes they have an incredibly hot horseradish sauce. The shrimp were just shrimp; I don't get why that is 'famous.' Their famous bread pudding however, deserves to be famous. The whole table went nuts over it. Lobster sacchetti was very tasty and salads very good. The calamari was so exquisite, that one of us at the table who long ago gave up on calamari being tough and rubbery was impressed after I got him to try it. I ordered filet mignon cooked medium my last 2 times there, and both times they brought it very rare in the middle. The most middle part was basically raw. I sent it back both times, and both times they brought it back a second time too rare. This triple-cooking seemed to make the filet dry; it was definitely less enjoyable (not to mention this made me the last one eating by far.) This is the main reason I'm not giving 5 stars. read more

We ordered from the Devour Indy Winterfest menu today. It was the first day of Winterfest! I love Harry and Izzy's but had never been to this location just off Keystone. We ordered carry out. We arrived at 11:00 opening and ordered the filet sliders with fries, the signature shrimp cocktail and the fried ravioli. We were able to wait in the car and they called us in 20 minutes when the meal was ready. The food was carefully and separately packaged. The shrimp cocktail came with lemon and their iconic horseradish sauce. The shrimp were large, juicy and prepared to perfection. Delicious. The filet sliders were served on little brioche rolls. The filet was perfectly pink in the center. The filet was served with their white horseradish sauce making the slider absolutely delicious. The generous portion of fries were a little soft from the ride home, but were hand cut and perfectly seasoned. There were two pieces of fried ravioli served with a decadent amount of slivered fresh parmesan and a tasty tomato sauce. Very good. The 3 course meal was a bargain at $32. What a treat! Harry and Issy's is a classic Indiana steakhouse with an amazing atmosphere. We went to the one that is further North and not the original one but still really great place to have a good meal. We were with 4 other colleagues from work so we tried a variety of apps which were all very tasty. The standout app was a really strong shrimp cocktail in a horseradish sauce that had some serious kick. Like OMG what did I just eat but it was so good! I had a medium rare bone in ribeye which was done just right and a side Caesar which was good but certainly not as tasty as some of the other dishes. All is all a great meal! read more

It has been a while since I've been to Harry and Izzy's and I have been missing out! Of course, we started off with the shrimp cocktail. Really clears out those spring allergies lol. Delicious! Of course, I got a steak. I went with the filet and their delicious mashed potatoes. We also got a side of their brussel sprouts to split with the table. Highly recommend those. My fiancé got the NY strip with the Gorgonzola sauce on top - it was better than mine. Not an ounce of fat on that strip and it was so flavorful. Our party was promptly seated in a booth as requested with our reservation. Appetizers were served promptly. The shrimp cocktail was delicious and spicy as usual. The toasted ravioli was a hit with those who ordered it. The guacamole was tasty, too. Entrees for our party of 6 included filets, salmon plain and salmon oscar. All were excellent. I like this location because of the ample parking available vs the downtown one. However, I think with moving to the suburbs it also steals some of the ambiance. They decorated this location with the dark classy feel but you just felt like you were still in a plaza. The service was quick and we were accommodated easily (but with a reservation!) This place does get very busy so I definitely recommend a reservation regardless of the night of the week but especially on the weekends. Our food was tasty. The st. Elmo's shrimp cocktail is ALWAYS a winner but you need to be prepared for the extreme horseradish rush if you do order it. The toasted ravioli is were good as well. The Caesar can come with anchovies if you desire. I ordered a 6oz filet med-rare and it was defininetly cooked medium. My husband's 12oz strip streak was ordered rare and was a very hard med rare. We dined on a Friday night so it was busy, but I just feel like if you're a steak house you should have steaks down. Maybe it was an off night. Cannot beat the lunch specials here. The pick 3 is amazing. I had the filet sliders, Caesar salad, French onion soup and crème brûlée. All were so good. Service here is absolute top notch. The atmosphere is elegant but not over-poweringly so. People were in suits and jeans and it works. I would recommend making a reservation if you are eating between noon and 12:30. It's been a long time since we've been here but glad we came back as this will be our go-to place for Valentine's day or other occasions. Since they've reopened back during the pandemic, long gone are the Tomahawk steak and the Rack of Lamb. So we started w/ the sliders, they were enjoyable as the meat was tender. We got the Calamari which was good because they have the tentacles. The sauce also made it tastier. Then Crab Beignets. We kinda expected a similar taste to crab cakes but it wasn't. Our server said It's more of a fancy crab rangoon, he was right. The difference is it was chewy rather than crispy. Good but wasn't a fan of it. Our server said this is one of their try outs. Oh, and their bread for starters was also very good, served with 4 pieces. Now if you want to enjoy the main course, don't eat all of the starters like we did. Haha, we still enjoyed the main course, we just couldn't finish them Our main were 4 dishes: Pan Seared Scallops. Served with 3 huge pieces. It doesn't seem much but what it came with made up for it and I could barely finish the plate. Was really happy with this one. Fresh Atlantic Cod was also really good. The fish was well- flavored and tender. When dipped with remoulade, made it even better. Prime Ribeye. It's been awhile since I had steak (7 months or so) and it's refreshing to come back to it with this marbled marvel. The meat was tender but not greasy. Mildly charred which made it somewhat crispy on the outside and tender inside. Then they served us with something that's also very good but not on the menu. Our server said they just call it Spinalis as it's near the spine. For those who will really love tender and lean meat, this is it. This was really well cooked. Sliced to perfect portions. Both steaks had to be taken home as we were too full. When these were put in the air fryer the next day (or few days), it extended our good experience at home with these dishes. I don't want to take away from the review of the service because our waitress was exceptional! However, My husband and I both agree the food was very "mid" level. My scallops were good and so was the calamari but I have had better from less expensive places. We sent the onion rings back because they weren't what we were expecting. The crunch of the outside was overpowered by the thickness of the actual onion. My husband steak and potatoes were also good, the potatoes could've used some salt or seasoning though. Still a great place on the northside whether for lunch, dinner, or special events. Last couple of visits during the pandemic have been great experiences due to service. Only a couple mishaps due to a fatty piece of steak (ribeye special one night) and an okay-ish pork chop. My favorite item is still the prime rib sandwich. And H&Z has some of the best salads you can find. I'm sticking to the Oven Roasted Beet Salad these days. I usually love this spot and feel that service and food is usually great. We went last night for my fiancés birthday and had it been our first visit we wouldn't be going back. I think I will visit again someday and just hope for a better experience. Our reservation was at 6:30pm for 5 people. We didn't leave before 9:15pm and while we were having good conversation- had service been up to par I would have thought we would have been there for two hours tops. Frustrating when other tables come in after you , leave before you and order the same amount of food. My sister husband ordered a soda- only received a refill once in that time- after asking our main sever twice for another coke only to never get it. The server himself was a nice man- however he would disappear for up to 25 min without checking on us. I don't think we even ordered our entrees until after apps had finished. The thing that was really shocking to me is four of us ordered filet mignons and one had a sandwich. One of the four filets did not appear like the others at all- server even said something about it but still placed it down. Once my sisters husband took a bite he realized it was in fact a different cut of meat. Took a good 15-20 min for the server to stop back by and ask how everything was only to be told in fact it was not the right cut of meat. He said I thought so and brought it back tk later bring out the filet. It was just a very long drawn out evening. First off, the bartenders' service was great. I felt welcomed and they were very patient. I ordered a liquid love affair. It's one of my favs. It was delicious. My app was the beef meatballs, love the sauce and it had kick to it. Of course, it was too much for little ol me. I had the grilled salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and good size!! I have been to this location several times & have always received great food & great service. Today we visited for my parents 22nd anniversary & my parents loved it (it was their first time). We got the shrimp cocktail, which is a must while you're at any Huse Culinary restaurant. We also tried the fried mozzarella which was delicious! For my main course, I normally do a steak, but decided to switch to pasta and WOW it was amazing! Highly recommend the Lobster Sachhetti! It was the perfect amount of creamy & light, not too heavy on the fishy side with the right amount of lobster. The pasta was so soft & the cheese inside was delicious! Apparently the sliders are best with a little ranch to dip in. I ordered the shrimp cocktail to start (it's pretty intense with horseradish so I'd ask for the mild version made with more ketchup and some crackers). IDK what kind of Caesar dressing they use but it is zero flavor. How can u mess up a salad; right!? The chili which the server stated was a popular order was good. Not great! It was linked warm at best. It resembles Outback's chili without the spice, which is amazing and always piping hot and served in a mini crock. The 2nd steak was brought out and is the one in the picture. It was rare and hardly able to be cut. The hubby just asked to have the meal taken off the bill. The server apologized and understood. The sandwich has a sweet tea brined crispy chicken breast, smashed haas avocado, marinated red onion, kale, white cheddar, served with fresh-cut fries. My birthday couldn't have been more special! My dear friends took me to Harry & Izzy's, where we dined on several fantastic foods. Following the bread, we had the St Elmo shrimp cocktail (I had to eliminate the cocktail sauce, wow!). The French onion soup was delicious. We also shared filet sliders and crab beignets with sweet chili sauce. The beignets (4 in a serving) were unique in flavor and filling. My friend loved her romaine hearts salad. Started with chip&guac $13, chips were cold, and the guacamole had little flavor and lacked spice . Definitely needed some spice added to it. Ordered salads, HUGE, definitely shareable!! Very good and tasted delicious! The bread came with 3 garlic rolls which really would be nice if they came with butter on the side as well, but still tasted good. Steaks:( ordered both medium, husband ordered Izzy style came out more like medium well( see photo) he was very disappointed but didn't want to wait on another or have that one go to waste. They did give us a free dessert but I am sure those are given away a lot. Better off if they took off the appetizer instead. I ordered the 12oz filet w/ ff. Filet was cooked fine but again lacked seasoning and the ff were flimsy and oily. Left most on the plate. The waitress was nice but never offered to get more bread or water, or chips for the guacamole. Not to mention the expensive price you pay, expect to pay $100 pp. Overall we might go back and sit at the bar and have a drink because those were in fact VERY delicious! read more
