Came to Harry & Izzy's very impromptu before the Taylor Swift concert. Sat at the bar. The ambiance in this restaurant is classy casual. Decor is very contemporary. They were playing Taylor Swift music and had pink balloons everywhere. It was a good and fun vibe. Everyone was so friendly. The bartenders were very fast and the drinks were poured just right. We had the old fashions and boy did they make us feel good! The wedge salad was delicious. The fried ravioli- a must have! The marinara sauce, I could just eat a bowl of it! Went here for some engagement celebration and it was fantastic! We had reservations at 6:30 and they were able to seat us right away, they also put a note on out table saying congratulations The server was double sat so he took a while to get to us but the assistant server gave us water while we wait, it was not the long of a wait and after the server introduced himself, he was very attentive I got the ribeye which was a tad pricey but so worth it when you're celebrating something. I was only able to eat a 1/3 of my food but the server pack it up for me. We dined here last night as part of a group of 35+ people for a nursing presentation. The service was excellent, the cocktails were superb and the food was exceptional. Split pea soup was their daily soup and I loved it. The NY Strip steak was flavorful and juicy. The mashed potatoes some of the best I've eaten. I even enjoyed the green beans. For what this restaurant charges, they have some work to do in the way of providing prompt and exemplary service. There were some issues initially that rubbed us the wrong way, but our waitress had redeemed herself in the second half of our dinner. With that said, the food was pretty good. Went for devour Indy. We really enjoy coming here, it's our favorite of the Huse family restaurants. We had 6:00 pm reservations for two. We order from the special devour menu. You get one app one soup or salad one entree. For the special price for devour. We went on a Monday night place was decently busy. My wife order the mild version of the shrimp cocktail. The Cesar salad. pork chops with mashed potatoes. (Her favorite part). I ordered the shrimp cocktail and the prime rib chili 6oz filet cooked medium side of green beans. We opted to stay with water this time for drinks. Everything came out great and full of delicious flavor except for the green beans. They had no taste and where wax and no juice to them. However on this visit I was medically restricted to no gluten and no sugar ingredients. It's just so freakin' good. $6 filet sliders during lunchtime?! That's amazing! A few of those sliders and you've had a full, quality lunch that's a similar price compared to other lunch spots. While this place is nicer and more on the expensive side, these lunch deals are wonderful and make this place an approachable sister restaurant to St. Elmo's next door (Indy's famed steakhouse). Harry & Izzy's also serves up my favorite salad on earth: the romaine hearts salad. It includes apples, Gorgonzola, candied walnuts, and champagne-rosemary vinaigrette. It's slightly sweet, without being too much so and the dressing is incredibly light. The service here is incredible, the atmosphere is super swanky, and it's a great spot to celebrate, have a business lunch, or treat yo'self with well-made, quality food. read more

We joined a plethora of FFA conventioneers for lunch today which kind of slowed down service. What a great lunch spot with convenient parking on the street or in the mall garage across the street. I selected the fabulous onion soup and one filet slider. The quality of the meat was top notch! Hubs had one of each slider, shrimp and filet and chicken. He also declared the corn chowder to be excellent. One of us had the famous shrimp cocktail and I laughed when I saw him wiping his brow and gulping water after chowing down on the cocktail sauce. I went to Harry & Izzy's with a group, for work. I am from New York City, and I have occasion to visit Indianapolis once a year or so for business purposes. I may have been here before; I don't recall. I infer, however, that this establishment and its next-door sibling restaurant are regarded as among the best downtown. They are a traditional steakhouse. For our group of nine, I ordered starters and dessert. I am an organizer. That doesn't make me better than anyone else or mean I should be in charge of anything beyond this task. (I also set up an ice breaker for conversation, and that was enjoyed by all, though people sometimes regret what they reveal to strangers, after a drink or two.) We had the world famous shrimp cocktail. It is not as strong as advertised; you will not regret it if you can take spice at all. We also had calamari, which they prepared, as requested, extra crispy. We also had meatballs and toasted ravioli. For dessert, we had the bread pudding. They must pour a bottle of bourbon into it. That is not a complaint. It is a warning though: wow, it was strong, enough if you were a teetotaler you'd be overwhelmed, and if in recovery you'd be well off the wagon. We also had a couple other desserts, but I have forgotten from the raucous good time what those were. In sum, this also is a place where you can indulge to excess if you wish to do so. My entree was steak of course. I don't eat much red meat, on doctor's orders. But I figured you could not have anything else. They prepared it as requested, Pittsburgh style. The next morning, I skipped breakfast. I was still full. Everyone had a great time. Our entourage had another table. The place was crowded. It was a place that you would want to be at within a crowd. I would recommend it. I would not suggest it if you wanted to have an intimate evening, at least not in the area where we were seated. The server was great. He was in good humor. This is our first time dining at this location. We loved the food at the airport location so much we knew we would eventually have to come here; we are only sorry we waited so long! We were happy to find that we visited during devour downtown and took every advantage. I got the half Sandwhich with French fries, ravioli and brownie from the lunch menu and my husband got the shrimp cocktail, tomato mozzarella and filet with a side of mashed potatoes. Wow! Talk about disappointing! This place disappoints more than any other. I sooo wanted a steak and chose this place over all others including Tony's. The good? The shrimp cocktail is definitely spicy. Nothing else special about it, but tasted good. The mashed potatoes were really good! Then I unfortunately got the Cowboy Ribeye, description reads "18 oz. exceptional flavor, great balance of marbling. 67". Cheaply seasoned, tough and ZERO marbling. More unfortunately I ate half of it, should have given it back and gone elsewhere, but I suspect Indianapolis is NOT the place for beef. On top of it, I was served 2 hard rolls. Okay I can tell that this place is one of those touristy places in Indianapolis. But the food is worth getting over the hype! Ambience was okay, not my cup of tea, but I can appreciate the history. Service was fabulous. Shrimp Cocktail -- I love horseradish, and this was too much horseradish. Might be good for some people (must be), but I wouldn't order it again. Toasted Ravioli -- Just okay. You might as well make your own at home. Cowboy Ribeye -- HUGE but delicious. If you can share it with 1-2 other people, it's worth ordering. Ours was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Lobster Mac and Cheese -- I was hesitant ordering this in the midwest but it was reallllly good. Would eat again in a heartbeat. Super rich so don't order this as your only entree! Brussel Sprouts with Bacon -- Pass on this one. Just okay. Cod -- was cooked really well, super flavorful and light. Penne Alfredo -- Super rich as you would expect, but good for an alfredo dish. The day before Thanksgiving we brought our entire family here for lunch (11 people) and they enjoyed it as much as us! The airport location is good too but had a limited and more expensive menu. We were also impressed that someone came up to chat with our friend with the allergy to check and make sure they knew exactly what her needs were. The "small" side salad is huge and enough for two. I had the my York strip, I thought it would be too big but I ate most of it. I'm a steak sauce girl, so I appreciate when a steak is so good I don't need any.
