This place is grade-A badass. Cash only. No bullshit. Great bar staff. No frills. All sorts of a good time. The beers are cold and cheap and what else could you ask for? A must stop off the main crazy bourbon strip. So good. So much fun. Make it happen. Order two beers at a time...trust me. It gets going and that's a good thing. I heard it's a great spot if you're a local, but if you're not they're just so mean here. I was so excited to visit here but was treated with curt and unfriendly treatment. There are so many bars in New Orleans where they're happy to have you and welcome you. This is not one of them. read more

I'm rating this one star because I don't really have a choice. The old lady that works as the bartender during the day, SUPER rude. Don't even try to go in there if you don't already know what you wanna drink before you step in. Repeatedly reminded me, before I even sat down, that I HAD to have a drink when I had told her more than once that I was thinking about what I wanted, she was so annoyed that I didn't know she said she needed a drink. Stopped in during a quiet time (daytime lol) for a quick beer. Cash only but they have an ATM right inside by the gaming stations. Friendly bartender and seemed to be a couple of locals stopping in too. Also, by the door there was a couple of crockpots of free food. That day, it was bean chili and rice! read more

Harry's Corner is a great little corner bar in the French Quarter. It is a favorite place to stop in, get a drink, and 'use the facilities' while stomping around the quarter. They are reasonably priced. I love the big windows which are perfect for people watching while enjoying an adult beverage. read more

4 years since the only other review for this place, and the bar hasn't changed since then, nor will it in the next 40. Quiet street but close to Jaclson Square. 2 dollar Pabst if that's your bag (luckily it's mine) and fair prices all around for everything else. A 30 plus local crowd on New Orleanians who enjoy quietly cutting loose. A good jukebox, everything from old R&B to country for your early and late swinging needs and often Uncle Lionel esconced in the corner... what more do you need...Like Zachary says, nothing out of the ordinary for the French Quarter, but that makes it pretty much out of the ordinary... I have to think at least a few of the 111 yelpers that reviewed Lafittes might enjoy bellying up to the bar with a varied mix of friendly French Quarter bartenders. Harry's is where you will find us die hard folks that live in the French Quarter. If you would like to be entertained (free of charge) by the locals then Harry's is for you. I came here for Thanksgiving cause I'm a sad dad asshole. I really appreciate this place though, I like the way the bar is set up, and I like that there is this old local thing happening that I'm just not even aware of cause I'm not old enough to understand. It's like if my parents were to throw a party except without all the jewish neutroticism that follows any type of party that I grew up with. Sigh. The drinks are reasonably priced (definitely for the Quarter) and it just has such a casual ring to it. The only trouble with this bar is that according to the bartender that the schedule always changes for them, meaning that if you have like a "I LOVE THIS BARTENDER SHE'S MY FAVE" Chances are you won't be able to catch them on the shift that you thought they'd be on. The manager/owner? Likes to keep all the bartenders on their toes, which is good for business, but when I connect with a bartender, I just wanna see them cause I'm a codependent asshole! So, I guess that's my only complaint- Cause I'm that creature of habit that wants to come in on YOUR day that you have and not on some shlomo's shift that I have no connection with. Well, the location is great. I love sitting around their makeshift fire hydrant table! The decor is basically non existant, the service is efficient but quiet. Some of the clientele were pretty obnoxious, which always makes me leave after a drink or 2. I don't really like having some drunk interrupting me to tell me about whateverthehell when I'm trying to enjoy my evening. The drinks are pretty cheap. I slightly recall that they charge for sodas, which kinda bugs me. If I'm buying a $7 shot, why can't I get a coke back without being charged for it? I'll go back, especially if I have tourist friends in town, but it won't be in my regular rotation. read more

This was the perfect little dive to wander into in the French Quarter. Don't get me wrong, it is A-OK like the 3 stars say, but the drinks weren't cheap and the staff was so/so. I can't believe I've never reviewed this place. Hubby surprised me with a last minute trip back home (my first time back in five years) this past Easter weekend... of course we ended up here. I've nothing witty to say, nor anything helpful, really, but just wanted to give 'em public a thumbs up for just being there! Granted, it's cash only, which I'm totally okay with for the reason, so head's up... but again, it was nice to just walk in, not have to deal with tourists (except for the haunted tour that uses it as a pit stop halfway through), and actually see a few familiar faces that I hadn't seen in years. It was nice to smoke indoors. Random things seen/heard in a 45 minute span: Tour group coming through, almost everyone dressed as pirates. I thought we were being attacked. Someone saying to old friend, "Your dog is my best friend." "Apologize. Now. We do not cuss in the presence of ladies." You know, normal stuff. Okay, back to work now. read more

I was happy to see Harry's busy when we went down to the Quarter Saturday afternoon. We were celebrating our anniversary and decided to to keep local and walk around to the places we went when we dated. I have enjoyed slipping into Harry's in the past to escape weather or crowds, but sadly it has changed. Not only were our drinks in the smaller cups, they were filled with ice- more ice than drink. My well vodka and cranberry was $11.00? My husbands single jack and coke was made the same way, also $11.00? We might not be daily regulars, but we will not be going back. I suggest you do not encourage local bars to rip off tourist, because that was what this female bartender thought we were. It was a special day and I didn't want to make a fuss, but I won't recommend Harry's like I use to. I don't approve of places that have "tourist" prices. Funky dive, which was great. The bartender was a jerk. Lots of tour guides drop into this place & all they did was really put down the tourists. I drank 50% of my wine (I was playing video poker)...I brought it back to the bartender & said there is a bug in my drink AND it is my birthday. He didn't care. Charged me for that wine. Not 60 seconds later my BF knocks my wine on the floor while crossing his legs (his foot hit the wine glass). We both bent down & said we were sorry & started to pick up our mess & he just SCREAMED at us to stop. We continued playing poker, I thought for sure he would replace my wine. Nope. I had zero intentions of stopping in this place, but the gentleman reading his paper at the fire hydrant/table stopped me to discuss how adorable my dog is (this happens regularly I must admit). Then the bartender starting luring Duncan in with treats while the vodka starting luring me. I had a drink while my dog napped on the floor and got at least 5 treats out of the deal. The bartender, dressed in a purple LSU shirt, red bandanna around his neck, red Chucks and red Sally Jesse Raphael style glasses entertained everyone with his sarcasm, but even asked if there was anything in my shopping bags I would like to put in the frig while I had my drink (so sweet!). I stayed and watch the NBA game discussing basketball with the Celtics fan sitting next to me. Everyone was so friendly, I seriously talked to almost every person in there! The place was a riot, honestly I would've stayed for hours if I didnt have to walk all the way home! On the way out the bartender asked me if I was returning for their crawfish boil on Saturdays during Jazz Fest, I told him that I couldnt make it the first Saturday, but I would try to come in Friday later, he cuts me off with "Hey, I'm not taking damn notes, we'll see you next time" ahahahahah! Would not recommend. Drunk employee got an attitude when we moved a barstool from our table. The barstool was broken but we didn't say anything just moved it. In 1994, the morning before I quit my commercial management career, I went here with the barmaid from Molly's at the Market and danced on the bar. Lucy, who now manages this place but then operated the kitchen at Molly's with her boyfriend Mark, is one of the first Quarterites I met in my first year of frequenting French Quarter bars. Uncle Lionel, a brass band drummer who reached his 80th birthday this year, sometimes drinks here at a table by one of the windows opening to Chartres Street. Dick Malanowski, a painter who studied at a Boston art school before I-90 separated the South End from the Back Bay, often drinks at the bar. So you can learn a lot of recent New Orleans history at this corner a block from St. Louis Cathedral. Love this bar, it's a cool mix of locals and tourists that is somewhat off the beaten path in the French Quarter. We stumbled upon this gem a year ago when we were there and were happy to return. The drinks are good and strong, the bartenders are friendly and quite conversational, and the prices are cheap. What else can you ask for? This is definitely a good place to take refuge from the heat and this has become a place that we stop at everytime we are in the area. read more

I used to go here all the time a couple years back when I lived next door, a great neighborhood bar. I still go from time to time, but it's off my beaten track. The drinks are well made and the company is great. There was a bartender there for many years who passed away a couple years back, his name was Freak.
