Came here for a private party in one of the rooms. I think it was in the wine cellar. This place is one of those old, gorgeous NYC restaurants. The name is deceiving, its not a simple cafe. I lovve the decor, old brick walls with lots of wine bottles. I fully enjoyed the open bar here. The waiters kept walking around with trays of hors d'oeuvre. -Kobe Cocktail Franks: its Kobe beef, enough said. -Duck Confit Quesedilas: much better than Taco Bell -Goat cheese mushroom crostini: Delicious! -Chipotle Shrimp kabobs: they bring this with a small grill that they carry around so you can grill your shrimp. I go here for Saturday Brunch. It's one of the last two really good deals in Manhattan. It's official, I declared it. The brunch menu has a nice food selection and the prices are very reasonable for the exceptionally good quality of the food and service. The brunch is from 12-4pm and comes with unlimited champagne cocktails. This is not an advertising gimmick where you are given the bill with your second glass of champagne. They honestly and truly mean free unlimited champagne cocktails. I should say that again to be clear: free unlimited champagne cocktails with Saturday Brunch! We've never had trouble getting a table for brunch and we usually go with 4-6 people. The tables are comfortable, the dining room is well decorated, and everything is so clean and nice looking. It's a casual atmosphere at brunch though. Plenty of wait staff, hosts/hostesses and a coat check. We've had different waiters/waitresses and they have all been very nice and very attentive. Empty plates are whisked away, waitresses making frequent rounds, refilling glasses of the free unlimited champagne cocktails. Any of my friends that come for a visit will be taken here for brunch. It's about a 5 minute walk from the Staten Island Ferry terminal; it's easy to get to so there is no excuse for not going. Great food, great service, great free unlimited champagne cocktails. Every time we're here we always come up with the most brilliant of ideas and best of plans and wind up staying for 2 hours or more. Oh Harry's. So cozy and awesome. On a snowy night, this place is truly magical - as is all of stone street. I've come here several times to sit at the bar - with an Aperol Spritzer - or for a work dinner in the cool cellar. And just so many times for a last drink of the night. I just wish there were a couple more veggie options on the menu - it's not easy to go here with a group of 15 people and order broccoli and onion rings - although it was so yummy. read more

The Best Saturday Brunch on the Planet. The limitless mimosa is the best deal you will find in Manhattan. I had the wonderful Benny & the Eggs with their homemade canadian bacon which was wonderful. The Englilsh muffins were Texas sized, and I had the crab salad which was a wonderful combo with cocktail and a Joe's Stone Crab type of sauce. The coffee is outstanding, and the home fries are the best I have ever had. Aside from the food, the atmosphere and friendly service make this my absolute favorite brunch restaurant. Really love this place - excellent for after-work drinks or for dinner. Last time I was there I had the seared tuna over lobster fried rice - absolutely amazing. Restaurant has a really nice vibe, but you can also have dinner in the bar area. Disclaimer: This review is brunch-specific. Everything in this story is true. One of my roomates and I returned to my place last Saturday evening after a day in Soho to a seemingly empty apt. My other roomate, K, had attended brunch at Harry's earlier with a gaggle of friends, so we figured they'd all relocated to another bar, post brunch. The apt was hot as Hades and as the A/C unit is in K's room (door was shut), I did a courtesy knock (just in case) then opened the door. Pow - graphic tryst in session. In my line of view is some long-haired brunette hair (K is brunette) but obv I don't stick around to see who the dude is. I shut the door, squeal "SORRY!" and assume it is Ry - the "friend" of K's she has been denying hooking up with. I tell my roomate, we giggle. We blame it on Harry's unlimited champagne and start watching reruns of Jersey Shore. Two minutes pass. K's bedroom door opens. Someone stumbles out. It is a man, but it is not Ry. It is an extremely intoxicated N (K's long time college friend, like a "brother" to her). We gasp. N falls into our flat screen and almost knocks it of the wall as JWoww and Sammie get into a slapfight. I sit in shock, mentally preparing the speech of shame to give K, and again equate it to sipping champagne in the dungeon that is Harry's for three hours before standing up and realinzing you're completely f$cked. I know this, because this is the first Saturday I have been absent from the Harry's brunch extravaganza. Fifteen minutes pass. Noise echoes from the hallway. About six people burst through the door. Leading the group, is K, with a large mason glass in one hand and a huge grin on her face. She had somehow gotten co-workers (and her boss) to attend brunch with her. They all look blacked out. I would have been concerned about how this could affect her professional career but I'm too shocked to think about that because I now know there is a stranger in K's room who just finished making love to N. No one knows who it could be. We send N in to collect his brunchstitute and it turns out to be a party acquaintance of ours. Still, no one knows when or how she got there. N lost his wallet between Harry's and our apt (about five blocks). We lend them money to get home. This story is not atypical. Harry's is absolutely fabulous. The omelette is delish and of course, the booze is free and unlimited, but many times they refill your glass as they pass by without you seeing and before you know it, you're blacked out at 2pm breaking and entering into other people's apartments to have transgressions with (almost) strangers. Overpriced piece of Wall St. carnage. Still, the food was ok. I came here for a work dinner, and in the spirit of Wall St, our expenses went to courtesy of XYZ expense account... Came here Thurs night right after work with 2 colleagues- it's their "spot." Was here for about 6-8pm. Harry's is actually quite spacious; lots of mini bars and separate dining rooms, full of patrons having work dinners..which is the only reason to come here. Otherwise, be prepared to be RIPPED OFF big time. I did see a few people on a date- I suppose I could get that sense too as it's dimly lit and whatnot. But ladies- whether you like him or not, save him some moneyz. I'll start by what I got. We all got the bread basket. This was quite good actually: nicely, whipped, butter and 3 kinds of rolls: a crunchy rasin toast, a soft white roll, and a whole wheat roll. I ordered the house made Canadian bacon as an app, as I love this steak house specialty, usually. It was ALL WRONG! It was so dry... and the apple sauce it came with was so watery. Let's just say it was more like ham, and NOT thickly cut, fatty, and yummy C- bacon. If you want some of this, go to Club A Steakhouse- they do this SO well. Then, since I don't eat steak, I went for the Florida Grouper over corn/mushroom risotto. I love risotto, and this wasn't creamy...it wasn't hot either. It was kind of just sitting there. I don't even know if they used arborio rice. The grouper, while nice and crispy on the outside, was relatively fresh and flaky, albeit a bit overcooked. My two colleagues got the filet mignon- which came in 2 sizes; 8 and 14 oz. I think the 14 oz, one of them said, was too big. It was ok, said my other colleague. I'm sure if there's something to get, it would be the steak. They mostly have filets though.. I think was like a Porterhouse for 2 and one ribeye. And something with a hanger steak.. They have a varied menu, though, besides steak, which is more than I can say for other places. Fish, chicken, lots of steamed seafood- like whole lobster. For the steak sides, my colleagues shared fries and creamed spinach. The latter was good (good amount of cream), and the former, being hard to fuck up, was just ok. Kind of like MCD fries - not hand cut, not fresh and hot, and a bit stuck together. Perhaps most outrageous was that they were $8.50!!! For frozen fries!!! For dessert, I ordered the bread pudding at the recommendation of my colleague. I don't even really like bread pudding that much- it was quite tough. It wasn't supple; it was more like a cake. I wasn't wild about it. Only one of my other colleagues ordered a dessert- the warm apple crumble, which tasted microwaved. We got the standard coffee/tea after dinner. At least the cups were big- this place def. has a nice, luxurious look and feel to it but the value is just nutso. I think steaks were $40+ each; not hard to believe, my fish close to $30- bacon, $11 and dessert $10+ but really.. $8.50 for fries??? Jesus most Wall St firms are not doing that well this quarter, Harry's! Although those were many yesteryear ago I can still walk into Harry's, even after its huge renovation and fell like a did when I was a kid. I would say that this place has terrible service, but after revisiting my dictionary I don't think 'service' accurately represents the black hole of dining I was sucked into. The food was mediocre at best, gag-inducing at worst. We came for brunch, which included Champagne. I'll speak to my personal experience but I can attest that my brunch companions had a similar experience. After waiting about fifteen minutes for service, I ordered the salmon scramble. You can get better eggs at, dare I say, Denny's. And to call it a salmon scramble is a joke. Perhaps 'salmon garnished over cooked eggs with unseasoned damp flour sauce' is closer to reality. The salad was past its prime, perhaps remains of an earlier diner's sad experience. Wilted lettuce I felt sorry enough for to leave it be, wallowing in sorrow and a bath of salty dressing. Now, to the worst part (indeed, it gets worse). Brunch included unlimited Champagne. We watched a server literally pour Champagne into an orange juice carafe, even stand on call to top off some eager table with their last pour as they threw back their previous glass like college freshman trying to impress the uninterested seniors. Finally, a full fifteen minutes of waiting later (and I had time on my hands to count considering I needed a drink to get through this meal) a server topped off my sister's boyfriend before telling her and myself that there was no more Champagne left. This was even before brunch service ended, and if you're keeping track far too long after our last glass. I had heard they were good at topping you off, but apparently not when they've given up on life toward the end of brunch service. And I kid not, servers have the cordial demeanour of a potato. I even spoke to the manager, who adamantly denied what my entire table witnessed...the server filling another table's carafe of juice with Champagne. We actually watched and laughed, to which the manager replied, 'no, she did not do that.' Well, then I guess I'd have to thank the manager for his diagnosis of our 'shared delusions.' My wife and I had such a great meal on Christmas Eve we made a reservation for four for New Year's Eve. Steaks are of the highest quality and perfectly prepared. Beef Wellington on Wednesdays is a hard-to-find treat. The Dover Sole is consistently excellent. We have had Omar as our server on several occasions and he is a star...knowledgeable, welcoming and attentive without hovering or upselling. The host/hostess staff are very warm and helpful. A pre- or post-meal drink in the bar is always a good choice. It feels like an Old New York experience without being stuffy or stiff. read more

You come here for the space, drinks and the basket of bread that they set in front of you. The food is decent. My mom and I sat in the dining room (it's either the dining room or the gastropub/bar area). The bar was full but the dining room on a Friday evening was empty. I've passed this place many times but it did take a while to find the entrance. We ordered the short rib sliders and the hanger steak. The sliders were incredibly dry and kind of chewy. However, the sauce slightly made up for the fact that the meat was off. I was surprised by the portion of the hanger steak. I was definitely expecting a portion half that size. The meat was cooked well but it was missing some flavoring. When we left at 7pm, it started to fill up. However, they seem to have over hired waitstaff as many of those people were just standing around in the main dining room. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. I have never seen so many suits concentrated in one bar in my entire life. However, it is easy to understand why every banker/businessman who works in the area comes to Harry's; it is a classy place in the heart of the financial district, serving good, strong drinks and food. (I have only had the duck quesadilla, but it was delicious.) And since I am a popcorn addict, I love the popcorn they give you at the bar. Instant happiness! Definitely come here if you are looking to meet the man who will take on a 'whirlwind' 3-stop tour of the Financial District . The next stop is Ulysses right around the corner. Arrived at 11pm on a Thursday night and was still able to sit in the dining room to have dinner. There weren't that many people left, so the service was very quick and the servers were very attentive. (I have been here several times for brunch though when it was busy and the service was still good). A couple bellinis and a salad are perfect for brunch or lunch, just FYI. For my dinner I had: APPETIZERS: Steak tartar - solid 9 It was a different alternative to the tuna tartar which they also have, but decided to try something new here. It was soft but not mushy. It held its form and had a nice texture. Lobster stuffed mushrooms - 9 Very very good. Couldn't taste the lobster as much as the mushroom but it didn't matter because they were delicious!! The sauce had a lemon flavor. I personally don't like the taste of lemon but I could still appreciate how well it was made. It wasn't too liquidy or thick like tomato sauce. Good to dip your bread in at the end. MAIN COURSE: Free range chicken (comes with mashed potatoes and spinach) Chicken - 7 Mashed potatoes - 9 Steamed spinach - 9 Chicken was cooked in a REALLY good sauce. Unfortunately the only thing that didn't make this amazing is that it was dry. I like to have a small piece of chicken with either some spinach or mashed potatoes on the same spoon anyway, so this helped the chicken not taste so dry. Wish there had been more sauce since that was good. Steamed spinach Let me put it this way... I do not like vegetables. But I ate all of the spinach and would order a side of it because it was so good. (I would have never ordered the spinach but I tried it since it came with the chicken... Also, since I do not eat vegetables I don't know how a vegetarian would rate this.) Mashed potatoes One of my favorite foods. Yes they are easy to make and difficult to not make them taste good... I do enjoy this brunch place round the corner from us, but after frequenting it several times, I decided to use the power of the pen to highlight their drastically dropping service levels. Now I know it's the weekend and they're busy. I also understand that free champagne can create potential beasts out of some customers. But hey, if you offer a deal, then you suck it up and present it well. It is no excuse to be dismissive, careless and completely indifferent with other guests. Not to mention the place is freezing - thermostat people! Our last experience was particularly annoying as we wanted to move seats - the ones we were seated on felt as though they were in Alaska! At Harry's, you don't have to compromise yourself to a migrane from loud adults-trying-to-be-relive-their-fratdays again just to get drunk during the day. SERVICE: Our waiter was a bit weird, but from the moment we stepped into this establishment I would say service was ON POINT. We had made a reservation the morning of and as soon as we walked in, we were directed to "our table" (hostess had us mapped out on her little seating chart)--ON POINT. We sat, and immediately a gentleman with a british accent asked us if he could "start us off with a little bubbly". ON POINT. From then on I was pretty much sold. AMBIANCE: This is actually a nice spot to come to catch up with girlfriends because you can hear each other. The area is not especially CUTE (cute= moderinized interior with outside seating area covered in umbrellas, sippin on mimosas) It looks more like a MANLY, oldschool, ChuckBass, whiskey on the rocks type of bar. I am a sucker for CUTE places, but the place was clean and spacious and I found it pretty relaxing. FOOD: ---Benny and the Eggs with Smoked Salmon $19. Not noted on the menu, it came with some potatoes (the potatoes were GOOD) and salad. They HOOKED up the Hollandaise sauce. Serving portions were pretty large. My only gripe is that the yolk didn't "flood" when I punctured through it, which I don't care too too much about but I know a lot of my friends like the "flooding". ---Four Egg Omelette $16.50. This comes with "fines herbs and gruyere with homefries and toast". My friend ordered this and was like "What the hell are FINES herbs?" and essentially told the waiter to make her a customized EGG-WHITE omellete. He checked with the chef and said ok but some additions would be an extra charge of $4. She seemed content with her little customized omelette, nice of them to accommodate a completely off the menu entree. Cheapest Entree choices: $15.50 Sirloin Burger or Two Handed BLT. Most expensive entree options: $26 Steak and Eggs or Harry's Lobster Rolls Next time I want to try the Cornflake and Coconut Crusted French Toast ($16) which I had heard great things about. DRINKS: Harry's Champagne Brunch is on Saturdays from 11:30-4PM...Unlimited Champagne or Champagne cocktails with order of an entree. And yes, they are serious about the unlimited, they have waiters come around and top you off every moment you take a sip so you have no idea what count you are at when you leave. Options: BLOOD ORANGE MIMOSAS, GRAPEFRUIT CHAMPAGNE COCKTAIL, CLASSIC KIR ROYAL (chambord and meyer lemon twist), CLASSIC BELLINI (White peach). My friend threw her friend's bridal shower here, and I saw them setting up for a birthday. This is one of my absolute favorite bottomless brunch spots. It's in FiDi, so it is a classy restaurant on a quiet enough street, and it's discrete so not bustling or noisy. It's a great place for group brunch or for a couple's brunch, or even to go solo. I've only ever been for brunch, I have to come to try the dinner steak, because the brunch steak entrees are DYNAMITE. Pros: Price, Brunch, Style, Service Cons: Location I come to Harry's for brunch about every six months or so and I am never disappointed. I would come more often, but because it's all the way at the tip of the island, I just can't commit to the commute from my place in Harlem/Washington Heights. I've had their steak and eggs brunch entree, and their steak sandwich entree. Every time I come, I say I will try the lobster rolls next, because my friend orders it all the time and raves about it. I order the steak sandwich every time and haven't quite been able to tear myself away from it to try a different brunch entree. With any brunch entree you get complimentary champagne and you can pay for 1/2 carafes of juice for $7 each. They have orange, grapefruit, blood orange, and peach nectar. I usually go for the blood orange and peach nectar and I'm guaranteed a good time. The service is GREAT and it starts at the door. They say that they do not sit incomplete parties, but every time I come with a large group they have no problem sitting the majority of the party while the one or two stragglers make their way. The hostesses are warm and coat check is always a plus. The waiters are very attentive and we're sure to keep an eye on our champagne glasses to make sure they were never empty and I do mean they make sure you glass is NEVER empty! Whenever I find something I really like on a menu, I tend to keep ordering it (otherwise I'm cursed when I order something else). Their grilled chicken sandwich will awaken your tastebuds on each bite. Its filled with goat cheese, crunchy fried onions, arugula, and balsamic (I also want to say sweet red peppers). The steak sandwich is a good back up plan and Wednesday is Beef Wellington Day (just in case). Harry's is a good place for a business lunch - the dining area is relatively quiet and the wine bottles on the walls are a nice touch. My company has an office a block away from this place and for them Harry's is apparently their go-to place for quick-ish but classy corporate card lunches. I can see why. At lunchtime I'd say a reservation is a must. On a Tuesday at 12:30 the downstairs was packed. The bar area was also pretty full, albeit mostly with men in suspenders sitting at the bar downing martinis in silence. Despite the full dining room, service was attentive and polite. Our waiter took our orders without writing anything down and got everything perfect. My medium-rare burger was actually pink and juicy on the inside. The side fries were thin and crispy -- my favorite kind, aside from curly fries. (What IS it about fries that aren't straight being so delicious??) My colleague got a side salad instead of fries and the salad looked pretty damn good. It was full on baby greens, no iceberg crap. My iced tea was refilled three times. The bread basket included a variety of breads. The roll I had was squishily delightful. The only real downside is the noise level. When the dining room is full, it can be hard to hear across the table. Oh! I almost forgot to mention the baked potato another coworker got. It came with a small tray of 3 different toppings she could add herself plus a vat of sour cream. She said she was totally thrilled by it and would definitely order it again. read more

I still rave about this place since I first came 4 years ago and tell my story... I was in town from Miami, actually my very first trip to NYC (greatest city in the world) and imagine my difficulty picking my food options in a foodie Mecca like NY... I looked up restaurants on Fodors.com that suggested Harry's cafe for daytime and downstairs for nightime. In the heart of the financial district this was the place for me to get my steak on. And I did... I made my reservation still in Miami and was already impressed by the gracious service I received on the phone. People talk a lot of smack about NYers being rude, but I'm convinced they're just cray. I arrived right on time, they seated me towards the back in the most romantic spot they could possibly offer. It was my bfs birthday at the time, and man this place made me look good. We ordered a few drinks, the most fabulous steak to split, mashed potatoes and a pasta. What an experience, that steak raised the bar. Now we were pretty young at the time and let's be honest, a $$$ restaurant is definitely going to feel a certain type of way about two youngins' in their place, but not once did we receive any treatment below first class. We really wanted a creme brûlée but were on a time crunch. Is there possibly a way to take it to go? How do you take creme brûlée to go? They found a way. Is there a way I could get a Togo cup of water? No worries, I was presented with a bottle of Fiji water. C'mon did that just happen?! In a magical city is this magical restaurant. LOVE Harry's, and can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet! This place is one of our faves in our nabe -- it's kept us very well-fed in our two years in the FiDi (which we also love!). The grub is consistently grand. We usually get delivery but eat in on occasion. The hubs drools over the steaks, but I stick to the cafe side. Standouts that come to mind... Salmon (especially the downright dreamy mustard preparation they had last year) Scallops Hibachi kabobs (especially the shrimp) Soups (especially the mushroom) Salads (especially the Harry's and the grilled shrimp + spinach) Grilled chicken paillard + salad Pastas (especially the truffle cavatelli) Curried lamb stew (we get this all the time -- and trust me, I'm Indian and know my curried lamb and this stuff's f'in delish) The brunch here rocks, too. I love all the Benny and the Eggs options and the coconut-cornflake French toast. The coffee is awesome and the free unlimited champagne cocktails scrumptious. We've had many long, languid Saturday brunches here -- they never rush us out. The brunches seem to attract more people every time we're here. (I just wish they'd open on Sundays, too!) The service is excellent -- friendly and efficient and youthful. The space is expansive for NY, yet very clubby, cozy, and warm. The bar scene is pretty lively in a low-key way (i.e., it's not an obnoxious singles scene like at Ulysses) in the evenings -- mainly FiDi locals and Wall Streeters unwinding. I've been pleasantly surprised by the Stone Street scene in general, and in my book Harry's is the crown jewel. EDIT: Well, well, well, what are the chances that my first negative experience with Harry's takes place on the very night I post my review? I placed a simple delivery order that took two-plus hours and three follow-up calls to finally get delivered. Outrageous!! However -- they did pick up the tab and throw in a dessert. I've only been for brunch!! It is in the bottom floor/basement so it was a little dimmer than most restaurants inside, they have a lot of dark wood in here which amplifies this, but during the day there is enough lighting to not need to squint to read the menus. Definitely need a reservation, but unlike other brunch places they still have some available towards the end of the week. Coconut Crusted French Toast!!! yummm... Both peach and blood orange mimosa's were very good, and relatively strong. I was definitely feeling bubbly by the time the meal arrived. We were not offered the Bloody Mary's or Bellini's that another yelper referenced.. but I was so happy with the mimosa's I didn't mind. Friends that had the steak seemed to enjoy it, but it didn't make their top NYC steak n' eggs lists. The entree prices here are not outrageous considering the location and unlimited alcohol, but I thought $7-9 for side orders (potatoes, fries, fruit, etc) was a little pricey, so I'd stick to the entrees. Though, the fries that did come with some of the entrees were super tasty! Went with a bigger group, so we were placed in a little set apart seating area. It was in the middle of the restaurant between the dining room bar, but designed in a way that was really private, nice, and shielded from the commotion of the rest of the restaurant. This is my fave restaurant in the Stone Street area, a step above in every way..a stone's throw from my awesome apartment and a great place to take dates. The bartenders all know me by name and I must say, they are mighty fine. I need to go there more often without a date, because it's like bringing sand to the beach with all the talent that's in the house! read more

Apologies for not updating my review since 2008! Harry (whoever you may be) you are my all time favorite restaurant in NYC. In my 7 years here, I cannot begin to say how may hours I have spent with you all. You are one of the most warm and genuine steakhouses in the city. The menu takes the basics and consistently delivers top quality food and service. Steaks, seafoods, cocktails. For anyone who goes here more than a few times, you will discover an amazing staff, who will engage when appropriate and keep their distance when appropriate. If anything ever goes wrong during the meal, they will do whatever they need to fix the situation up. The captains of the rooms are really fabulous. My favorite meal, the Wednesday special: individual filet mignon beef wellington (medium-well), sautéed mushrooms and 2 stiff Negronis. My eyes are watering up as I type. read more

GREAT brunch!!! Unlimited champagne with any entree... hard to find this deal -especially at a steakhouse like Harry's. If it wasn't on the completely opposite side of the city, I would definitely be a regular brunch goer. The steak and eggs was good... with the steak absolutely taking the spotlight. My eggs (over hard) were cooked nicely but were super greasy. The homefries were good but not spectacular. The champagne tastes great and they keep it coming. My glass never got less than half full. The one downer is that it was FREEZING inside. We literally kept our jackets and scarves on the whole meal. At one point I potentially saw my breath, although it could have just been my champagne buzz. Apparently they are still dealing with damage from Sandy (being underground and all) so I know the lack of heat is not their fault, but its still uncomfortable. read more

Seriously Harry's Cafe, bring sexy to the financial district, why don't you! Yeah, I'm a food snob and an unplugged food critic. One thing I can't stand is eating a restaurant that doesn't feel comfortable. Harry's is thee most comfortable feeling place I've dined at in a long time! Fish taco appetizer-amazing! Lamb stew-so friggin good I didn't want to eat it because it would be gone and I wanted it to stay with me, on my plate, forever so that I could always have it!! Dark and stormy cocktail: ginger, whiskey and basically everything I wouldn't normally want in a cocktail. First one, LOVE. Second one, COMMITMENT Broiled lobster with stuffed shrimp (or something) enough for 2. Delisth! Scallops- seared in butter, coated in butter, birthed from butter. Went there on a whim for dinner last night because it was late and lots of places were closed in the Fidi. Was contemplating steak but decided that it was too heavy for 9pm. Upon realizing that me and my husband weren't going to blow 300 bucks on dinner the waiter (older, very tall African American dude) decided we were worth the trouble because his tip is not going to be ginormous. He was just short with us and largely absent. Ended up still tipping 20% because the food was good and bus boys excellent. To the management. Your staff needs etiquette lessons. Especially since when my husband brings all his staff there for dinner/lunch meetings and orders a lot more food and alcohol, the service is remarkably different. Came here after the longest day ever finishing of New York Fashion Week and I wanted a steak like nobody's business. That must fear of this place is pretty cool it really sets the mood with the dim lighting and basement like feel but still very classy. I got the ribeye it was juicy it was well seasoned and they got my medium well perfect. I also got a bottle of Malbec and reorder an array of side dishes that included mashed potatoes corn and carrots. And to top it off I got the creme brulee. You've got me poppin' champagne! The alcoholic in me loves AYCD places....especially for weekend brunch. Woke up Saturday morning a bit hung over and slightly confused....and ready for round two. The restaurant is a little hard to find because FiDi is just a mess! Where is my grid system!?! After getting off the subway, I had to call my friends who were already there and had them stay on the phone with me and direct me to the proper place. "Don't worry Diana, you'll find it.....eventually." We originally had a group of 8 but one got pink eye, one had to go to work, one couldn't wake up, one I can't remember the excuse...anyways it ended up only being 3 of us. They were pretty accommodating with all of our reservation changes and seated us once we all arrived. From the moment we sat down to when we stumbled out of the door, the champagne was endless! I never emptied my glass and never had to ask for more! We only were able to try the Bellini and the blood orange mimosas but I'm not complaining because they were oh so yummy. Instead of serving you bread and butter, it was more like little slices of cake with jam. There was one that was raspberryish and another that looked like cinnamon raisin. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with crab cakes; the crab cakes barely had any filler and were mostly crab! So yum! However my English muffin was hard and flat and not fluffy. Wompwomp. My other two friends both got the duck and mushroom hash. If you read my other reviews, you'd know I abhor mushrooms - unless they're truffles...so I didn't try any, but they said it was good! Anyways the service was impeccable, especially since we didn't need to flag anyone down ever to refill our champagne glasses! Only drawback? Had to meet my family after brunch because they were visiting and had to explain to my parents why I wanted to eat the world and had a headache at 4pm. read more

If you do find yourself down here, hit this place up because: a. lots of seating, almost cavernous, and the decor reminds me of a london pub b. candle-lit and great for quiet conversations...shhhh c. the sliders are mad tasty, and if you order beef on skewers, they let you "crisp" them up...yep, they put a mini fire pit in front of you and trust you to mini-grill your beef (and your fingers since its pretty dark) d. good beer/drink selection I could do some real damage with that mini fire pit in front of me. I have had the Harry's classic burger many times and although it can be inconsistent, I am a fan. Be sure to get the caramelized onions on top. My only complaint is I wish they would toast or grill the English muffin it comes on. I have asked and am told it is, but English muffins really need to heated to bring out their sweetness. I while back I final bit the bullet and splurged on the Kobe burger. WOW! I think it was the best burger I have had in FiDi...and I have tried most of them. At 14 ounces, it's not for dieters but it was juicy, the mushrooms were great and bun was perfectly light. This may be the only burger I have had that rivals the Black Label @ Minetta Tavern. I will need to go back and try both to be sure. Everything else I have tried at Harry's has been very solid. The lobster filled mushroom caps are a great starter. Here for dinner tonight. Obviously a very nice place. Everything about Harry's exudes class. Yes, I know that doesn't garner it 4 or 5 stars automatically...but almost. First the food...we shared a plate of short rib sliders for an appetizer. They were VERY tasty with a sweet onionny glaze on the little pieces of perfectly cooked beef. For dinner I had the free range chicken. It was glazed with a very good brown sauce and served over spinach with creamy, if not slightly over-peppery, mash potatoes on the side. The chicken was a wee bit on the dry side, but still very enjoyable dipped in the sauce. My dining companions had the 8 oz filet, the hanger steak, and the kobe burger. All looked like they were cooked perfectly and they said they enjoyed them thoroughly. The service was of course impeccable. Very attentive...there right when you needed them, and invisible when they should be. I certainly won't hesitate to go back there again if given the opportunity. read more

Stumbled upon this place last night and I'm so glad I did. The hanger steak was fantastic. House red wine was great as well as a very nice gin based cocktail whose name escapes me. Service was warm and attentive. Will definitely be going back here next time I'm in New York. read more

Very Tasty Steaks. Last week on Wednesday, I enjoyed a nice welcome lunch at Harry's. My mentor and I both had a boneless rib eye steak ($33.50). The steak was nicely grilled and didn't need the house steak sauce to compliment it. For starters, we ordered the Indian-influenced chicken lollipop wings, but I wouldn't recommend them. The ambiance and service were excellent and despite it's hidden location, was quite popular amongst the FiDi crowd. read more

Harry's has officially moved their way up my extensive brunch list to numero uno! The only issue I can even think of is that they are closed on Sunday. (Why?!?) And also the stairs you have to walk down to get inside the restaurant are particularly terrifying (I think) especially in the rain/snow, and even upon existing the restaurant when your motor skills are probably impaired from all the champagne you've guzzled. Anyways... The food is absolutely delicious, fresh, and satisfying. Unlimited mimosas are of course, great. However what sets Harry's apart is the fact that you actually only get champagne. If you want juice to mix in, you can pay a little extra and pretend to be a bartender for 2 hours (I recommend mixing with grapefruit juice.) Music is upbeat and fun, they definitely seem to cater to the 'younger' crowd during brunch hours. Dinner and happy hour are also fab at Harry's, FYI. Really, you just can't go wrong here.
