Came in to get a transmission leak fixed, was told it was an axle leak not transmission so he didn't fix the transmission leak. Mechanic "fixed" the axle leak however it is not fixed. Went back to address the situation due to warranty and the shop was closed up and still has never opened back up again. He literally robbed us of our money and closed up shop. Documents say there's a warranty but we can't even get ahold of the shop. We're from the bastrop area and relocated to houston so to trust a bastrop mechanic and get robbed here in houston by one too is very unfortunate. Highly recommended. Went in with several issues on my Tahoe. I procrastinated and allowed some problems build up. Was recommended by a friend and went in just hoping that they weren't going to try and sell me on a bunch of unnecessary repairs. Far from it. They did a complete diagnostic and told what needed to be done right away and what could wait. Then once we agreed on what I wanted done I worried that I'd have to leave it there and Uber for a couple days. Nope! They were done before I even got off work and even picked me up! They helped me out big time and got me in and out in 3 hours. As a profession pilot car driver, time is money and these folks were there for me beyond expectations. They were friendly and supportive during a stressful situation that at most other locations would have taken days and required an overnight or two in a hotel with the loss of my upcoming run that I was headed to 900 miles away. What a great group of professionals who got me fixed up and on my way even staying after hours. And it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. It was so good to be in the care of such good people! Went in today to check a misalignment on my Honda Civic 2007. plus the car was squealing when it was on the road.. just bought it 3 weeks ago and I'm fixing the little problems now. Came across Harting Automotive thanks to the recommendation of my uncle's friend who has been a client here for the past 10 years. They change my brake pads and told me the alignment was due to my tire which even tho the last owner said he changed it itwas a bad quality tire and was making it pull to the right. I was hoping to have a long term relationship with Harting mechanic shop as I have a company that need our truck fleets tuned up ready for business. I was referred to him and since the incident the people who referred me found out he wasn't providing good customer service anymore. I spent over $2,000 the first two weeks on a couple of my trucks. One still has a bunch of rattling since they worked on it. I then asked if anyone specializes in vintage or classic cars. Now a days there's few mechanic shops working on old cars so I wanted to see if they specialize in them. John the front desk manager/owner said he could do it. I brought in my car and it took over a week for him just to look at it . I called to find out what the status is on my vehicle and John replied there was a fire in the engine I need to talk to you I then come over discuss with him what happened and as they were fixing my car my engine caught on fire and my paint bubbled up on my original classic car. The engine had sustained some melting wires and was burned underneath and paint he said that he would get it fixed and make it right. I waited for over a month and had lost money due to the vehicle not being ready as I rent the vehicle out for videos and photo shoots. Frustrated over a month worth of waiting he says he needs a couple of days to do the timing and make sure it's running correct I gave him over a couple of days went to pick up the vehicle and noticed the paint job wasn't matchingand had no choice but to take my vehicle home as I drove it home I noticed that it was worse then when I brought it in I figured I'd drive it a couple more days to see if it was the carburetor that needed just to be adjusted as I open the hood and looked further into investigate the wires were not replaced they were just taped up the carburetor is not tuned correctly and as I am looking over the vehicle and washing it I noticed that they did not spray the whole Hood just a section that it was burnt and they over sprayed the whole vehicle another words the spray paint shop wasn't professional enough to tape up or cover the rest of the car and the paint which was supposed to be on my front hood was splattered all the way on the sides to the back window which ruined the whole paint job not just the hood. I then called him and asked him how he would like to handle this and he told me that he wasn't scared or intimidated I'd I was surprised at the way he answered me and he told me that he wasn't going to pay over $1,000 I told him that you'd evaluated my car over $1,000 so I'm asking you to simply fix it as I didn't take my car in there for you to destroy it. His answer I knew this was going to happen. If the the owner of this company knew that this was going to happen that shows what kind of quality work that he does and pushes out until the customer finds out the truth. I would never go back to this thief of a mechanics and would give him a negative 100 if they had it on Yelp. This guy is a Weasel. Beware! He also hung up on me. Very professional owner. let me also add that he said he was going to work on it and another guy that's never worked on a car before actually work on my vehicle the untrained mechanic was blowing air on my fire trying to put it out. so another lie that he said he was going to do it and he said somebody that wasn't experienced enough to do it on an original vehicle that you can never replace the paint or the wiring as it was all original so be careful on who works on your car. read more
