I live in Chicago and haven't been to Haru but I'm writing this because my sister had not only a wonderful meal there, but a memorable experience. I'd called to wish her a happy birthday but she was on her way to a new-to-her restaurant. After we hung up, I immediately called the restaurant and spoke with Joanne to request that she let me pay the bill with my credit card. Joanne far exceeded my expectations, locating my sister, facilitating my payment, and even bringing her a slice of birthday cake festooned with sparklers. This is one of our regular spots! The daily happy hour has some great deals on delicious food options and beverages. We like the omakase dinner- $50 per person which is filling and beautifully presented. Also, the Alaskan roll is a fan favorite! Stumbled upon this restaurant while visiting the Melbourne area for a couple days. Boy were really happy we stumbled upon it. The food here is delicious and the ambience is really nice. We end up getting takeout one night as well from here because we were raving about it to the family. I highly recommend the garlic edamame. I could have eaten 2 bowls! Happy Hour, Happy Hour, Happy Hour, I stopped in at 5pm last night for the happy hour that takes place daily from 4-6 pm and offers an extensive choice of options on a well priced menu. Our server Jeff who was amazing, and attentive offered some suggestions including a "secret" edamame choice ($5) which combines their salt, garlic butter & Cajun spice- OMG I could eat that all day. Off the happy hour menu we also tried the Gyoza ($5), Lobster bomb ($10), and Shrimp Shumai ($5), all delicious! From the sushi menu we had a few traditional avocado rolls and a special roll named the TGIF roll which contains shrimp, tuna, scallion and avocado inside and topped with fish tempura and eel sauce. The TGIF roll was fresh and so tasty, try it. The vibe here is fast but well paced with a fresh modern atmosphere. The restaurant boasts both a cocktail bar and sushi bar as well as tables that can seat large groups. This was my first time here although I've passed it many times. Next time I pass by I'll be stopping in again it was that good. read more

My husband and I ate here for the first time together and it was a wonderful experience. First of all, our server Jordyn, did an absolute FANTASTIC job. Very fast efficient service! Drinks always full, always checking to see if we needed anything, very kind & considerate & polished! She was a treat in itself !! The food did not disappoint either. We had the garlic edamame, YUM! The volcano roll, Philadelphia roll & the Good Fellas roll. Each had their own individual flair & was prepared in a timely manner. BUT... my absolute fav menu item, was by far the green tea ice cream!!! I love green tea ice cream and not many places have it. The ones that do are hit or miss, but this one did not disappoint. It was a nice portion size to share and it was topped with whipped cream & a small chocolate drizzle with some sort of powdered gram cracker dust, (which made it so special), def a high quality ice cream!!! Where Sushi meets fine dining! Haru is so charming! Located across the street from the ocean, it's a beautiful spot with so many unique and fresh fish options for Japanese food lovers. Our party shared a lot of dishes, being my first time there I wanted to sample as much as I could. The service was fabulous. Our server was attentive, very knowledgeable and everything was served without much of a wait. The dining area is beautiful. Elegantly decorated and very posh. All of our fried appetizers were fantastic! Perfectly battered and fried with generous helpings of seafood and meat. The sushi was very fresh and had a gorgeous presentation and the roll was huge! Again, very generous with portion sizes. The Wagyu appetizer was phenomenal. Brought to the table with a small grill so you can prepare it how you like. So much fun too! The Lobster bisque was out of this world. My steak dish, as beautiful as it was, did lack a little bit of flavor and was overcooked. Being this is not a steakhouse and a place that focuses mostly on seafood and sushi, it was easy to overlook because everything else was so perfect. I have to stay upfront that this review is based on an Uber Eats delivery and not eating in the restaurant itself, but even with that, this was really an excellent meal. Not only was it delivered quickly, but it was delivered in the most lovely temperature-controlled takeout bag, nicer than anything I've ever seen for this purpose. Normally, I wouldn't even consider having sushi delivered, but I needed something light, and this seemed like it met all the criteria, and it did. Seaweed salad arrived cold, fresh, and with just the right amount of sesame. The shrimp shuimai were steamed perfectly and not at all tough. The sushi itself was delicious and wonderfully fresh. A rockin scene early on a Wednesday night. Did not expect the band. Very loud atmosphere.....not conducive to conversation, hearing the specials, etc. Service was prompt and table settings were nice. The food was hit or miss. The cowboy sushi roll got a thumbs up as did the hibachi plates. The shrimp tempura was a bomb but to their credit after our dissatisfaction was noted, it was taken off the bill. Everything was extremely tasty and our group thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. I would recommend this place to anyone coming into town. We got multiple orders of sushi, hibachi, edamame, and calamari. The lychee martini was also a very good and refreshing. I got the crunchy tuna roll and the lobster tempura roll. This restaurant is amazing! We were visiting the area and the hotel suggested them for sushi. I'm so glad they did. Beautiful restaurant with great ambiance and indoor and outdoor seating. We also had the gyoza, which were tasty and had a y dipping sauce. The spicy tuna appetizer was also really delicious. The sauces made it over the top. Being Japanese, Im very picky on sushi rice , how they seasoned and texture. Rice seemed little dry and not seasoned enough and Nori (seaweed) was hard to chew. My husband ordered crunchy grouper and it was very good. Also ordered Ikura but tasted a little sweet and never had them sweet do I didnt care for it too much. This was not true omakaze however it was incredible. Best sushi I have ever had in all of the United States- the fish is so fresh and tender. The tuna belly melts in your mouth. It's a must order even if you don't get the omakaze. So good. Also, the service was fabulous. read more

I had dinner here three weeks ago with family. We were 7 to our group and they were kind enough to acknowledge our request to be seated in the small private room. There was a piano player set up until 9pm on that Sunday night. We started our dinner with some great shareable appetizers like the Baby Octopus, Edamame, and the miso soups and ginger dressing salads. For the entrees, we were all over the menu with our choices. We tried everything from the Spicy Seafood Udon, Sushi and Sashimi, to a number of different sushi rolls. In the overall, everyone was satisfied with their food. I only noticed when I started this draft review the following day that my sushi roll order was wrong, but it was still tasty and most importantly my avocado allergy had been taken into account. I really wanted to give more stars but we experienced a few too many things that irked me. Among those things were the less-than attentive table service - so many dirty plates and empty glasses. Another big irk was witnessing the staff hanging out at the bar while our service was being compromised. Maybe it was just an off night. Spent the weekend in the area. We past this sushi place on the way to our hotel. We decided to get take out and eat in our room. I had one of the sushi dinners and the yellow tail roll and my wife had a couple of the specialty rolls. The sushi dinner came with soup or salad. The Miso soup was excellent. The sushi was very good as well. My wife's rolls were good and I also enjoyed her rolls which had eel and shrimp on top with shrimp tempura inside.
